Over the past year the food quality has dramatically declined. Ocala Preserve is a community that represents a finer quality of life. The entire community is so well maintained and offers resort style living at its finest with the exception of the Salt Brick. Two years ago the food was delicious. Over the past year/year and a half it's barely bar food quality. The amount of customer complaints today alone among guests was embarrassing. First time going to salted brick and it did not disappoint, it was on a golf course which was really pretty. And when we got our burgers they were outstanding. Also the service was really nice and loved the decor in there very pretty. Would recommend coming here. read more

We made reservation for six, that went well. Two of us ordered pork chops that didn't go so well, they were so dry and overco tooked it was impossible to actually chew them, they were horrible. The server was extraordinary good and the other four entries were good. Won't be back for another year as we are residents.Had family here for Easter and this was embarrassing to say the least. read more

We sat outside for lunch on a gorgeous late October day, and the experience was memorable. Nice view, comfortable seating and outstanding service. The food was good, (my Cuban was excellent) and the price was reasonable. We will return on our next trip through the Ocala area. read more

So we live in the development where Salted Brick is in our clubhouse. We go there often for drinks and dinner. The drinks are very reasonable; the service staff is great and v friendly; the food is decent, although recent changes to the menu have been a bit disappointing. What really bothers me and my wife is that there's a whole section of the restaurant where the ventilation system blows cold air down on people sitting there and it's to the extent that it REALLY detracts from the whole experience! If you read some of my other reviews, I have this thing about restaurants who seem to intentionally direct the HVAC in such a way as to cool down your food extra fast so that you'll eat quickly before your food gets cold so they can turn over the tables more quickly. That's a MAJOR turnoff for me. For me, if I order a hot meal, I want the food to stay hot for a reasonable amount of time to enjoy it leisurely. If this is what's going on at Salted Brick then I would encourage diners to be aware of where you sit: even if you're just coming to sit at the bar for drinks, there are locations where you'll need to bring a sweater even in the dead of summer! We've mentioned it to management several times but you know how that goes... If you decide to come here for lunch or dinner I suggest you specifically ask to be seated out of the "arctic zone", unless you're planning on only drinks and/or cold salads and the like. read more

We were so excited to get out to Salted Brick tonight. We made reservations and planned our evening around the din we location. It has a grand entrance and I was greeted and brought to my table as we had a three top and arrived separately. I am Very impressed with the restaurant, it has a raised ceiling with beautiful wood planks. The patio looks amazing and we specifically came to watch the sun set from our seats. We had a charcuterie plate which was Perfect for three. It seemed in fact to have three of eat item. Dad had a Burger which he destroyed, mom had Mahi Mahi and I didn't notice it for long so she seemed to enjoy it. I had the Bucatini pasta and it SAVORED it. Kid friendly restaurant! The kids menu is on the back of an etch a sketch. As a parent to 2 littles, this was a huge win to keep them entertained for a few minutes while we ordered. Huge win!!! The restaurant is located inside the Ocala Preserve and offers indoor/outdoor seating. It is a relaxed atmosphere with a gorgeous sunset view. From the friendly staff to the awesome food, the only thing that would have topped it off is bread to compliment the meal. From rack of ribs to salmon grilled it was tasty, cooked to perfection, and YUMMY. Took the folks to enjoy the environment of the 55+ environment. What a beautiful restaurant! This restaurant features many of the same dishes as other Trilogy properties I've noticed. Everything is thoughtfully prepared and the service is spot on. But mostly it is a beautiful space. My daughter's Margarita Pizza was good, but the dough was a bit underdone. Still, the sauce had a fresh tangy flavor, they used a good buffalo mozzarella and the fresh tomatoes and basil were delicious. My son had the Salted Brick Burger which was very beautiful. It tasted fine, but he said it was nothing special. The kitchen brought him a half basket of fries so his burger didn't get cold waiting on the rest of his fries, which I thought was very professional and a nice attention to detail. I ordered the seafood Orecchiette pasta which was really creamy and delicious. Like most pasta dishes, it was even better the second day! Plump shrimp and sweet crab punctuated the cupped pasta with the fresh veggies. I was very happy! We ordered 2 desserts for the table: the butter cake and the chocolate chip cookie skillet. The butter cake was delicious, but way too under baked. I didn't love the crispy top it had either. The Chocolate Cookie Skillet was yummy and the preferred of the two desserts. This is a nice restaurant with mostly solid food. The restaurant is loud and crowded, so if that's your scene go for it. There is a dress code here, but they were lax about it on our visit. To celebrate my wife's mbmblmbf birthday, we decided to expand our horizons and try a place she recently heard about from a friend: The Salted Brick at Trilogy. Just a word about the location and setting: gorgeous. Attached to Trilogy Golf Clubhouse, the appointments and setting was just beautiful, especially on a mostly sunny day, right about 7:45 pm. The decor is primarily wood, steel and glass, so even though it wasn't packed, the noise level seemed a bit high. We ordered an appetizer of garlic knots and we had two stir-fry dinners, a club sandwich and the baked salmon. They warned us up front they were down a cook so everything was running just a touch slower. In fact, it took so long, they took the appetizer off the bill. I would like to say the food was worth the wait, but it was about what I would expect the food to be given the location. Anything less would have been disappointing. Both the manager and the server apologized again for the delay. While it took a little longer to eat (it's not like any of us are starving), it just drew out the enjoyable evening out with my three ladies. read more

This is my second review. We had brunch here twice. The first time I ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were wonderful. The second time I ordered them again and I could tell just by looking at them they were not the same. Told the waiter I was here about 6 weeks ago and they were great what happened. Just dined (FIRST TIME) at Salted Brick... it MUST BE RESIDENTS that rate this restaurant so high. We were immediately greeted upon entering with a friendly smile by the hostess -- great start! Our waitress (who I'll not name) was MORE INTERESTED in "chatting" with other servers and the kitchen staff than waiting on us!! Extremely disappointing!! The restaurant wasn't busy -- no excuse for the poor/slow/inattentive service! Couldn't get refills... couldn't get another beer... Wanted to order a "Cuban" sandwich (it's on the menu) without mayo -- BUT the kitchen PRE-MAKES ALL THE CUBANS WITH MAYO! Really? You pre-make your $15+ sandwiches so people cannot change and/or remove a condiment? We ordered 2 salted brick burgers -- both came out hot and cooked perfect!! YAY! Also ordered the turkey club - again perfect! And the grilled chicken sandwich -- over sauced with bbq (just too much). yesterday I called the Salted Brick to find out about their Happy Hour. I spoke with the person and she said they had Happy Hour all day on Wednesday. So I called another couple and My wife and I went the Happy Hour. NO SO HAPPY. When we arrived at 430 we were seated and the waitress came over and I asked for a Happy Hour menu. They don't have a HH menu. They do not have a happy hour just 20% off if you are a member. We stayed and had a couple of drinks and had something to eat for around $100.00 per couple. My friend had a glass of wine that was almost $20 and I had 2 Blue Moons. My wife had a vodka tonic as did our friend wife. Also I had the special (meatloaf) and the ladies had burgers and my friend had a fish sandwich. All this for just over $200.00. Not cheap. BUT NO HAPPY HOUR. We were lied to from the afternoon receptionist.I asked for her but of course she Wass gone now for the day, So if you go do not expect Happy Hour pricing. We could have gone to Marks Prime Steakhouse for less. read more

What a wonderful surprise! We were on our way home from Gainesville to Orlando and decided to stop for dinner. After much difficulty finding it we called and were given the correct directions. It was worth the effort to find this place!!! The service was excellent. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. The food was delicious with lots of options. And they even offered wine of tap! Something we hadn't tried before. Come when you have time to take a stroll by the lake. It's just a beautiful outside as it is inside. I've frequented the Salted Brick several times in the past year, and liked it enough to keep coming back. Unfortunately, the salted brick has gone through several menu revisions of which they've removed several dishes and desserts (and handmade pizza altogether) from their menu that had the buzz about town to come patronize their establishment. My experience last night with their 3rd new menu in a year has me questioning if I'll return ever again. The restaurant was the most busy I've seen it in awhile and in turn it was extremely noisy. We started off with the ahi tuna and buffalo chicken hushpuppies. The tuna looked to have been previously prepped by being seared, sliced and then covered in a plastic wrap and placed in cold storage. It had a strong fishy smell. The wasabi was a hard brick. We sent the tuna back and it was removed from our bill. For $15 I expected to get more than 4 hushpuppies, and I certainly didn't expect them the be burnt. The accompanying celery and carrots were not cold or crisp. For our entrees we tried to play it safe with the French dip, burger and pork chop. The French dip was served with a gravy rather than an au jus, but was decent. The burger was undercooked and was served without the accompanying fries. Those came out several minutes after the burger. The pork chop was cooked medium rare when it was asked to be cooked well done. We had to send it back 3 times to get it cooked to the right temperature. Overall we had an underwhelming experience at the Salted Brick. read more

I was fully prepared for an "all show, no go" dining experience, but was pleasantly surprised! I goy the bucatini pasta dish, while my mom got the seafood pasta dish. Both were interesting and well-prepared dishes - not the pedestrian fare I associate with Ocala restaurants. The butter cake is kinda of a semi-gooey thing (must be Southern). NOT heart-healthy for sure! LOL! Very good as well. My only complaint was the noise. As more people (and alcohol) entered the room, it became harder to hear conversation across the large table we were at. Nice views, though! read more

What a fabulous Mothers Day idea. I was in town for a funeral but ended up staying through Mother's Day so I could spend it with my mom. When I looked up restaurants that took reservations Salted Brick came up on the list so I browsed a few reviews on Open Table and made a reservation. We ate outside and the weather and ambiance was beautiful. Other reviews said it was hard to find but once you know it's in a gated community, just follow the very helpful signs. Xander was our server and he was so patient and helpful. He answered all of our questions and helped us make decisions. His personality is cut out to deal with the public and that was refreshing. The menu was a brunch menu and I don't love breakfast but there is a good mix of lunch foods too. My mom had a salmon salad and I had the chicken with rice. We also had shrimp cocktails for appetizers. The key lime pie for dessert was delicious. We had bottomless Bloody Mary and mimosa's and they were tasty too. All in all the service and the outside view made this a great choice. read more

Heads up- there's a dress code. I read the reviews on here and it seemed like the negative reviews weren't worth not trying it, but they made sense once I arrived. This place truly doesn't know what it wants to be- no joke. We went around 1300 and was greeted by a host, who asked if we wanted outside or inside. We asked for an inside booth. She proceeded to seat us. As we all sat down and were settled, she proceeded to tell me my outfit was inappropriate because they have a dress code. She said for next time I need to cover up and not show my midriff. (For reference I was wearing shorts and barely cropped t-shirt; tshirt that says Peanuts and has Charlie Brown on it. Depending on my movement, there's a chance you can see a little bit of my stomach.) although there were plenty of people wearing hats and athletic wear. I can understand a dress code in a "country club", but I was completely unaware. Not only is it not stated anywhere, but this place does not give the vibe of a respectable country club. If I was wearing something terribly inappropriate, I could understand the comment. It is hard to understand what I mean unless you were there, but it's important to know the type of place you're going to. That moment left a sour taste in our mouth, but we still continued to be patient. The server took a long time to greet us and my meal didn't come out as ordered. I gave two stars because our server was very very kind. We spoke to the manager and she was a wonderful person as well. Unfortunately we won't be returning. read more

This is such a hidden gem! Disclaimer: we aren't entirely sure we were allowed here; after an amazing dinner we found out it was a 55+ community, but nothing was said and we were treated wonderfully. The atmosphere is classy (golf/country club-type), but very modern and not too stuffy. On one side is a beautiful view of rolling hills and a manicured pond, and on the other side is an open kitchen to see food preparation. There's seating inside (with activities like Trivia and sports games on TV) and also seating outside with a gorgeous view. The staff was so attentive, kind, and very punctual in ensuring that our needs were met. The food was delicious! For a very fair price, we both had salads, I had ordered a pizza (not realizing how huge it was), and my boyfriend ordered a Cajun pasta dish. Our salads were fresh, and crisp; the pasta was a plentiful portion and truly tasted like southern comfort; and the pizza was fired in a pizza oven with the most perfect crust. We were both so amazed by the food quality and attention to detail in our meals! We were far too stuffed to have dessert, but I'm sure that would've been great, too. I was definitely SO impressed by the entire evening there. This is the perfect place for any occasion if your taste is a little elevated. We would love to come back! read more

I was researching places to eat in the Ocala area since I was passing by around lunchtime. It seemed to be worth a try. Entered the address and started towards the restaurant. Drove through a lot of a home communities and construction ...thought my GPS had gone insane. Decided to follow it through anyway and ended up at this amazing place. It's at an amenities center for the community with a golf shop, sales center, pool, etc. The views here are phenomenal and ambiance lovely. I was sat immediately and my server was friendly and knowledgeable. She was actually fantastic and really knew the menu and different items. I started with garlic parm wings and have to say they may have been the best garlic parm wings I've ever had. They were lightly battered and seasoned perfectly. Not drenched in oil or dripping in it. There was plenty of flavor and just the right amount of crispness without the typical coating of garlic and grease. I would order this again and again. Next I had cod topped with Cheese (Parmesan and basil, I think) with butternut squash and spinach. Again, seasoned perfectly and so delicious. I was about to pay the check when my server mentioned carrot cake cheesecake. I mean, the word cake is in there twice; how could I not order it? It was decadent and seemingly light at the same time. The crust was perfect and the carrot cake was divine. The carrot cake has raisins in it which is not my favorite but the smoothness of the cheesecake was heaven. We were very disappointed in general. After searching for a classic brunch in a nice setting we chose this place to try. The atmosphere was semi upscale and the hostess was pleasant. We were seated directly across from the open concept kitchen, which I generally enjoy. That is about the only good I have to say about this place. The rest of the experience was downhill. Our server was adequate but clearly overwhelmed and unhappy. She was being assisted by a manager and another server. Our bar drinks (supposedly bottomless mimosas) took 15 mins to be delivered from when we were seated. Our food arrived and was just ok. Definitely nothing to rave about for the high prices. We were not offered a second mimosa and had to ask. The staff seemed very unhappy. We never saw a single one of them smile, but rather seemed frazzled and miserable to be there (most especially the manager). We left feeling the same. read more
