This cute little spot had been on my list to try for a while. It was extremely busy on Sunday morning. We had to stand outside before we could make it inside the line was so long. Luckily it was a nice day. I was also shocked to see the pasty cabinet was near empty already at 11am- having never been here before I was a little disappointed by this. Miraculously, right before we got to the front the guy working the counter put two brand new offerings in the case, but I would have been upset if I didn't get to choose from those as a customer right before us. A little weird how they handled that, but lucky we got a new selection. Between my friend and I we ordered the cinnamon bun and a butter croissant and we each ordered the coconut mocha. Everything was absolutely top notch. I have no idea how they make their pastries so flaky. The mocha was hand crafted to perfection, looked beautiful and tasted fresh and so delicious. I also brought home a pear tart to my husband (that I of course tried) and we both thought it might have been the star of the show! They bring your drinks and warmed up pastries out to you, which is nice so you can enjoy catching up. Even though the pastry case situation was weird, the taste made up for it! I recommend trying this place out if you're looking for a fabulous croissant or cup of joe! read more

Overall okay coffee shop. Vanilla lattes were really good but were $9 each. The pastries were also good but so expensive. For 2 pastries and drinks it was almost $40. The atmosphere of the coffee shop was okay but not as cute as I was hoping it would be. Lovely spot downtown, and spacious. Very nice staff too. Egg sandwich was delicious -- quality bread/bun and importantly they actually carefully cooked the egg. Folded into a shape that was easy to eat but also relatively light and soft. It was *not* (like so many other cafe breakfast sandwich eggs) cooked like in a hockey puck shape in a microwave. Baked goods looked good but didn't try any. Unfortunately neither my friend or I liked our brewed coffee. I only drink light or medium roast and my friend only drinks dark roast. Both of our coffee tasted sour. Just not good coffee. read more

Their Pizette is beautiful, I've never been a fan of cold or room temp pizza but this may have made me a believer. This was the first gorgonzola pizza I've ever had as well; I wasn't disappointed-- the chili sauce compliments it well. The Sprosé is unique and very beautifully made. Sooooooo tasty. I went with a friend for the first time today; but I'll be back with my pretentious bartender spouse because he saw the menu and liked what he saw as well as what I told him about my pizette and drink. mmmMmm The interior is GORGEOUS; ample seating indoors and outdoors. Parable is a boutique Coffee and Cocktail lounge in the heart of Columbus, OH. Very accessible and quant space well appointed with group seating and private areas too. F&B selections are a bit pricey for a normal pastry and coffee selection but the quality is far superior than many other typical places you'll find. Can't say much for the quality of the coffee as I had a latte and the milk is the lead actress...looked good though! Cherry almond croissant was big and messy...just the way it should be! Great flavor and abundant in size! Service is not in a rush and is minimal in dialogue or eye contact, but you may find that to be appealing if you don't have hospitality or social skills either. read more

Just went to their soft opening today for their new beautiful location. So great! I got the guava panela latte. I'm a sweet drink girl and this was actually so amazing. The flavors were great (I've never had fruity coffee before) and I really enjoyed it. It was $9 though which is what has me give them 4 stars. It's a little steep. Parable feels like the sort of caricatured establishment in a segment on the leftist American experience--don't worry, I'm leftist. It is leaning far into the contemporary mid-century modern aesthetic, relying on natural materials--leathers, woods, greenery--to craft its ambiance. It is a successful endeavor, the cafe bustling with the expected denim jacket- and Sambas-wearers. I would be interested to speak to the manager about who his desired demographic would be, as the current clientele seems a bit removed from the "community card" strategy he's implemented. The service was to be expected--relaxed, mellow, not-too-eager-to-impress-but-still-kind--and seemed conducive to the aesthetic they were pursuing. It leaves the patron wanting to impress them in hopes of being liked by them, a flashback to that common middle school insecurity. I got an Americano ($6) with whole milk. Starting from the entrance, I was captivated by the ambience and its earthy feel as well as it's menu with a special seasonal section. There's places to study as well as meeet up at the bar or outdoor patio. Service was kind and speedy! We had the espresso tonic and house matcha latte with oat milk- my husband raved about the taste of the espresso tonic (tasted closer to a gin and tonic than other ones he's had before) and I loved the smoothness, not too sweet, yet subtle hibiscus lavendar syrup in mine. 5 stars over and over again!! Amazing vibes, plants and wood everywhere. They make their own sauces in house so the coffees are always perfectly sweet. They also build tip into the price so the great service is getting paid for. The coffee is served at perfect drinking temperature as well, so you don't have to wait to drink it. Everyone in there was incredibly nice and they were playing great music. We tried the pumpkin spice chai latte and the sesame miso caramel lattes. Both so amazing and I don't even typically like pumpkin spiced drinks. The sesame miso is definitely going to be my new go to coffee now though. Very cute place and will be back again. read more

I first decided to go to Parable because I love supporting local businesses especially ones that pay a living wage to their staff, but I keep going back because of so much more! The staff are lovely and great to interact and talk with if that's your thing otherwise they will also let you do your own thing in peace. I often go to get some reading or online work done or just to journal in a place with lovely ambience and lots of natural light and a great overall vibe and phenomenal drinks and treats! I actually don't like coffee, but I like tea so the first time I went I was a bit unsure on what to try and the staff was super lovely with helping me decide and I went with the seasonal pumpkin pie chai at the time and it was phenomenal! Also I have brought friends who are coffee lovers who have all loved their coffee choices. read more

Been going to this place ever since they started out in Comune. I'm very happy they expanded to a place of their own, the interior is very pleasant and has a lot of space to do work and hang out. I always would get their salted miso latte, which is such a killer drink. In their new spot I tried the guava seasonal and was a big fan, fruit forward and not too sweet. They have such unique drinks and great traditional drinks as well. Really happy for the ownership as all of the staff are great humans! Only downside is that you will not find a more expensive specialty latte in Columbus, but I think as a total package it's worth it. read more

This coffee shop is an absolute gem. This is a Grade A top-tier business that graces our humble tier 2 city. Places like this truly elevate Columbus and transports you to a genuinely luxurious and comfortable experience. Firstly, let me define a premium coffee shop. A premium coffee shop is clean, the owner buys good beans and the business is generally well run and you can get busy with whatever is on your to-do list. The Roosevelt. The Crimson. Staufs. They're all good and nice and you get good stuff. You really do. But there is a difference between a premium vehicle like an Audi or Acura and a luxury vehicle like a Bentley. The Parable is not premium. It's the latter. So what's a coffee shop that elevates our city? It's a place that's owned by people of color. It's a business with a mission where you don't need to tip because the shop chooses to pay workers a fair wage instead of employing age-old capitalist tactics of underpaying workers and having them rely on the fickle generosity of strangers. It's an environment where you have lush greenery that wouldn't be out of place on a magazine cover. It's the luxury wallpaper at the end of the coffee shop and the tasteful touches throughout the shop. When you have this kind of attention to detail your life just improves a bit. You don't mind if your date is a boring. You forget that some suburban teens scratched your car in a parking lot. You'll enjoy the great coffee, the delicious pasty and lovely environment and go on with your day. You don't even mind parking is annoyingly urban with occasionally having to wait (or circle the block a couple times). The only annoying thing is when you go there to work, you'll find yourself lacking the outlets for your devices and it'll be frustratingly busy at times. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. read more

This is a super cute and crafty cafe. I Met up with my best friend here and did some homework and we caught up on life. I think this place is perfect for doing homework and drinking an artsy, coffee. You walk up to the counter as soon as you walk in and order, it was pretty busy at the time we walked in so we waited around the counter area for our drinks. As we waited, a table opened up and we were able to sit. I don't really have any complaints at all about this place. I think it's the perfect place, for a study session or to do homework. Just near Columbus Commons there is this friendly place with many great coffee options. They do know their coffee and don't hesitate to explain its origin and how it gets there. Great legitimate espresso and velvety cappuccino. Never had food there but always pass by in the morning during the weekends and usually there is a big line outside as well as lots of people coming in for a takeout. Stopped into Parable coffee today for a morning pick me up! I've been wanting to visit since they first popped up & started servin up lattes and espressos, and finally made it out. The vibes inside are cozy, modern, and clean. Everything feels intentional, and it was a nice atmosphere to grab a coffee in! They don't have parking, so be warned if you're coming via car, you may need to park on the streets of german village and walk down. Not a big deal if you're trying to support local and enjoy an artisanal coffee experience! Speaking of artisanal, these drinks are each individually made and made with love! To order and receive my two drinks, took over 15 minutes, and there was only 1 other guest. I wasn't in a giant hurry, but I know a lot of yelpers value speediness in the morning fuel up game, so thought it was worth mentioning. The other reason I took off a star is because the prices are a tad of a barrier to most (my latte was $8 before tip...). Their prices, however, are almost certainly because of the quality of ingredients. Their syrups are handcrafted, and you can tell every aspect of your drink was carefully thought out. But, an $8 drink for just 12oz might be a con to some. Plus a lot of people have a high priority for good parking and speed, so, that's why I'm at a 4 with this place. Definitely stop in a check it out for yourself though! My drink was seriously so freaking delicious (rosemary peppercorn latte!!! ) and the kindness I received from the staff made my whole day great.
