Firstly, I am from Suffolk County NY... don't know why it shows California. Now for my review- I wish there was a minus 0 to click for a review. I have been a customer since Paraco was Vitale... almost 30 years now! I am paying $5.60 per gallon! I called all over and was quoted in $2.60-$2.80 per gallon. My friends and family pulled out their bills and showed me they are paying the same lower rates. When I call paraco, they tell me it's based on usage... I had my hot water/heat tank filled at 55 gallons... this is delivered to a 100 gallon tank on an regular basis... are they kidding me? There MUST be some law that governs these gauged prices. - to top it all off, they are going to charge me to remove the tanks. $139.00 - while the new gas company will disconnect the tanks so all they are doing is picking up the tanks. - nonetheless, that $139.00 price will be soooo worth saying good bye to these astronomical charges. So in my opinion (for whatever that's worth) run and run fast! Don't get caught up with this company. read more

this is the worst, most inhumane piece of*** company i have ever delt with. they refuse to supply us with propane unless we fill up completely. there is a pandemic and people lost jobs! if we have money to pay for some propane then deliver what we have money for. we were told they can give us 36 gallons and then called back to be told they cant give us anything unless we pay the full price to have both tanks filled. meanwhile...the advertisement for their company says, "we help families stay warm all winter"... blatant lie! we were told we need to conserve fuel or we will have to call to get more propane. not anyone's business how much we use in what amount of time. if we need to pay with what we can afford at this time then that's what we have. we don't have a money tree. the worst company ever!! you don't deserve any stars but in order to post i have to give one star. useless morons. read more

Worst propane company ever. Had to wait over 2 weeks to have a propane tank delivered to my house because they re maintenance dept put a hold on my existing account. They then delivered an empty tank and "forgot" to set up a gas delivery. After 6 weeks of back and forth I still don't have gas for my pool heater. Time to get a heat pump and ditch the routinely poor service. read more

The best thing I did was to close my account with Paraco Gas. Their business model is to charge you exorbitant fees to "rent their tank" and then the audacity to charge $140.00 for the removal of their property once you close your account. This is by far, the most irresponsible, non responsive company I have ever dealt with. I would not even give them one star if I had a choice. I live on Long Island in Suffolk County even though the profile says San Francisco for some reason. We were on automatic delivery (all bills were paid), and yet we ran out of gas on the coldest day in January. After one hour, I reached someone who took my information, but when I asked for a time frame, he laughed and replied, "That is the million dollar question." Hysterical. It was 21 degrees and getting colder. I called a local gas company, Peconic, who actually answered the phones on a Sunday night after 2 rings) and who came the next morning (it is against the law to fill another company's tanks), removed Paraco's tanks and took care of us. What a pleasure to work with a company who is responsive at a time we were stressed out and not even customers of Peconic, yet. Paraco showed up without calling (even though I had tried to contact them and could not get anyone at the three numbers provided), to deliver gas 24 hours after I called. My husband had to go out and tell them we were no longer customers. I filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs and the NYS Attorney General. No one should be without heat, and no one should deal with a company that does not even answer its phones. They should be held accountable for their non-existent customer service. Is there a way to give a company negative stars?!?! This is the worst company I have ever worked with. I called them Monday to have propane delivered because I'm having people at my house over the weekend for dinner so just to be safe since it hasn't been filled. My husband was home the whole time and the delivery guy came, delivered the propane, and put a lock on our tank with no notice or phone call. I come home from work and go to cook dinner and that's when we discover the lock. I call back today and ask them why it was locked and told them I need it removed only for them to tell me it's because I'm new to the account and it needs to be serviced but the service guy won't be avaibale till Friday. I am furious!!!!! I know have to go 5 days without being able to cook dinner for my family!!!! Don't ever use this company!!!!! read more

Paraco bought the company (Island Propane) that serviced our second home in Westhampton Beach. They delivered propane gas to us for about a year and have come much less to refill the tank than their predecessor. Unfortunately, they waited too long, we ran out of gas, had a pipe break and flood the house. I have now waited for over 30 minutes to get someone on the phone to ask about them paying to fix the problem. Still on hold for a CS rep. I have heard that this has happened to many homes that are serviced by Paraco. They bought a variety of companies and now don't have the team or ability to service their customers well. I will update my experience when I speak to a representative. 01/15/2018 10:39AM - Just spoke with a manager named Eva, she apologized for the problem and asked that I speak with Dave Latouurell who would help me with this issue. I will keep you updated... 01/15/2018 12:20 - Spoke with Elizabeth Almonte, she asked if I could tell her what the damage is to the property. She said that someone from their insurance company will call me back within 24 hours. Will keep you posted... ****UPDATE**** 3/5/2018 - While going into this with best intentions; Paraco gave me the impression they would be taking responsibility for the damage that they are solely responsible for by not delivering propane gas on a timely schedule. This resulted in a broken pipe that ruined over 2500 feet of wood floors, furniture, walls and more. They turned my claim over to their insurance company (Travelers Insurance) which was OK with me at first. After a couple of good calls with agents from travelers, they then turned it over to a person who's goal was to make sure they don't pay out any monies. It really sucks when you try to do things honestly and expect the same in return. Now I have to turn it in to my insurance company and let them fight it out. Do NOT do business with this company!! First they gave us a 200 gallon tank!! Knowing we are a single family dwelling. Then they sent us a letter stating that we don't get enough tank fills to warrant them coming out(well no shit how much cooking do they think a family does) & because of this they were going to place a yearly FEE for use of their tank!!! We cancelled their service, & instead of getting a refund of the unused gas we purchased they came up with a ridiculous restocking fee and now we OWE them instead!! What a scam. Called twice to argue our case & when we requested to speak to someone else with higher authority we were "cut off" once on hold for a few minutes!! Recently I had shared some very negative experiences that I had had working with Paraco - the culmination of which resulted in me actually driving to one of their locations and having a face to face discussion about why I had been allowed to run out of gas despite requesting a delivery days in advance and being told it was "coming anytime." After that face to face conversation I was able to make a true connection to some very helpful and responsive people, and since that time Paraco has actually gone out of their way to be attentive and accommodating - even delivering me an extra tank in the midst of a storm and finding oil for my generator because the oil light had come on when I was not home. I will always be extremely grateful for this extra time and care - I hope things continue this way and that we can rely on Paraco at all times. I'd like to give a particular shout out to Jeff who went above and beyond to help us and ensure that we had superior responsiveness and service! read more

Worst service ever. Charged me to do a safety inspection when I moved in in October even though they have been servicing the tanks for years. They must not have much faith in the service they provided. The tech did not catch a gas leak which was found after three outrageous bills in a month and a half time frame by a plumbig company who came to hook up my stove. After letting Paraco know about the gas leak and trying to get them to adjust the outrageous bills due to a leak, I never heard from them again except resends of the bill. Their tanks are still on my property and being replaced luckily by another company but still with no word about the danger they put my family in or the leak or the bills or when they will come get their dangerous tanks. Take your business elsewhere. They ignore calls and emails. Had to send a certified letter. The few reps I have spoken to have been extremely rude and unhelpful. Run don't walk!!!! read more

This company bought out Bay Gas. There service is terrible. We ran out of gas last night at 6Pm they told us they would get a truck over. Never happened. I went to their office this morning at 8AM and they said they'd take care of it. It's now noon and a Paraco Gas truck has never shown up. Thank Goodness for Hampton Tank Service. Went with Great White and guess what they showed up in a timely manner and were literally half the price of Paraco. After waiting 4 hours for the three hour window that Paraco gave me I had enough and called another company but not before asking around my neighborhood. HORRIBLE service. Ran out of gas twice considering they forgot to come for a scheduled drop off of propane. They then proceeded to charge my card for a drop off that was never delivered. I fought for weeks with management and nothing came of it. They then sent my bill, of FAKE services, to holdings. Ended up having to pay over almost 1K for propane that was NEVER delivered. They should not been in service anymore. WORST customer service and NO communication between anyone that works there. read more

I thought i was the only one that thought these guys were crooks. Just recently i get a call telling me i need to refill my tank . just to let you know i only use my gas heat in my shop very sparingly because if it get under 20 degress overnight to keep my valves warm on my truck above freezing but the 2 guys next to me they keep there heat at 65 so my shop is always warm . i checked my tank a few months ago and i shouldve taken a pic it was at 45psi and i shut the valve off . They told me my tank was empty and sure enough it was . They had to empty it ... How if i have no leaks and there stating i need to fill up a hundred gallons in a year and do a pressure test all said and done $450 and im leaving in a few weeks and they want to tell me that the new people that will come into my shop they will have to pay me the difference. B.S I told to them to rip out the tank .... After looking at all the negative reviews now i should've went to somewhere else before i got them. read more

Horrible Obnoxious Customer Service.. TONS of hidden fees. I closed on my home last year and continued to use Paraco Gas for my stove and drier because they were the company servicing the home. At house closing the company faxed over the contract. It was one page. I signed it and faxed it back. Fast forward 1 year later.. I converted to natural gas. Called Paraco to cancel service and was informed that I was going to be charged $120 restocking fee. I went back to my one page contract and searched for this written somewhere.... It wasn't to be found. I called Paraco again and was informed that it was on my contract. After a whole round of discussions and emails, I was informed that I was only sent the first page of the contract when signing up for Paraco. The extra missing pages were never sent to me. I never signed them or initialed them. It seems odd to me to have a whole bunch of stipulations and fees attached to the last two pages of a contact and not require the customer to sign off. Basically they can make up whatever they want at the end of any contact??? They need to spend some time and resources training their staff on customer service and efficiency. Where do I even start.... we have been customers with Paraco since my parents bought the house over 20 years ago. We were on a plan where Paraco could deliver gas when our tank ran low. Paraco "forgot" to deliver gas multiple times and we ran out including during the winter. About 2 months ago, we started smelling gas in our house so we called Paraco. The emergency line lead us to a voicemail. We were finally able to get through to someone in which they responded leave the house and someone will call you to follow up within the hour. We never received a call. My dad ended up fixing the problem on his own. After these multiple experiences, we contacted Paraco and told them we would be canceling their service to not make additional deliveries. My dad also stated we would call them when our tank is almost empty so they can come and take the tank away. A few days later A Paraco man showed up at our door and reported he was taking our (almost full) tank away. My brother was unsure what this man was talking about and proceed to attempt to call my dad, however was unable to get ahold of him. The man proceeded to remove the (almost full) tank without confirmation leaving us with no gas. My brother ended up chasing the man to the curb as he was pulling away with our tank. We were left with gas for 3 days before another company was able to deliver a new tank. When our new company came to install a new tank it took them an extended period of time and the man from our new company told us that your previous company tampered with the connected which made it much more difficult to install a new tank. The new company charged us less than half the price to install the tank and provide a full tank of gas in comparison to one delivery from Paraco. I would stay clear of this company of all costs. I have never had such a horrific experience with a company that went out of their way to take our tank away and leave us with no gas. This is no way to treat your customers. read more

Absolutely the worst service ever!!! We were a customer years ago and left.. went to Bay Gas who they now have purchased. As a Bay Gas customer, service was impeccable. Last Saturday in the afternoon, we ran out of gas. called and asked for a delivery. Not only was the gentleman on the other end unhelpful but essential took my money $922. and wouldn't ensure delivery!!! I explained there were children and it was for heat. What I got was no promises. So I called another company, and within 25 mins I had new tanks and a new company and it cost me $550. Paraco was contacted that I wanted a refund for no delivery and that they could get their tanks. They got their tanks and still waiting for a refund or even a call...7 day and waiting. Homeowners beware !!!! I did not choose Paraco Gas as my provider they purchased the old gas company I originally signed with .In fact when I first purchased my home there were Paraco tanks here and I choose not to use them since their reviews were poor . I only used my propane for cooking So my pricing was higher overall . I never really did any research or compare prices from different vendors after they took it o ver the company I was with since it seemed most of the smaller companies were being purchased by Paraco and I felt I would be stuck with them again anyway. I wish I switched and regret my choice . My first issue with Paraco was their very high prices . Their tanks also did not have any Gauges on them so I never was able to tell how much gas I used . Or when I needed a delivery I ran out on a couple of occasions . The last Time I ran out their driver told me to watch the flame on my stove and if I noticed it turning more of an orange color to call for a delivery . I used to get a delivery every April it was only December and I noticed my flame was orange so I called for a delivery I thought since I was using the stove more because of COVID maybe I needed a delivery . Well I was wrong but when the driver came he gave me an attitude since it only took a few gallons . I was upset with the way he spoke to me as if I was a dumb woman who knew nothing I really Wanted to switch . I was very busy at the time dealing with sickness in my family so I waited until one day a very pleasant rep called me from Propane Depot asking if I was happy with my current provider this was perfect timing . They offered lower pricing more then a dollar a gallon less and their tanks had gauges on them . I made the switch in May . I called Paraco to pick up their tanks and was told there would be a fee to pick them up . Which I think is ridiculous since they owned the tanks they were not the ones that drop them off and I shouldn't have to pay for them to pick them up. I was told that they would pay me for the remaining propane in the tanks I had two tanks one I knew was completely full and the second tank who is almost full since I had a delivery in the end of December I was not home January through April so I only had about one month of usage. it was my mistake not to waive the tanks before paraco pick them up. They called me about two weeks after picking up my tanks to tell me I owe them money. When I spoke with the rep he said that's impossible I should be getting a credit. When I had the tanks removed I asked my new company how much propane they felt was in the tanks they were able to tell me one tank felt full and the other they were not sure but it was heavier. When I spoke with the rep he said the driver claimed they were empty. I explained that I had a video tape from that day that also had audio where their guy claims he didn't realize the tank was full at the time he went to lift it. I unfortunately accidentally deleted the file and I'm currently trying to have it retrieved. My point is make sure you wear your tanks can you check when they deliver because I believe they haven't been ripping customers off for a long time. I highly recommend Propane Depot other Peraco even if you're just going based on customer service Propane Depot hands down is the better choice . Shame on you Paraco ripping off hard working customers especially in the middle of a pandemic when people are out of work . read more

Paraco has to have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I handle our business account with them so I never really have time to sit on a 45-minute hold, so I usually wait for somebody in the online chat so I can continue working while waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting). Anyway, I have told them on several occasions to not come for our weekly automatic delivery because the business would be closed. Yet they showed up anyway and didn't come the day before or after as requested. And we need those weekly deliveries to run the business. Another time I had questions about are statement because things did not add up. The girl could not comprehend what I was saying and after a 40 minute back and forth chat I finally said forget it and I'll call to speak with her supervisor. On a side note - I have worked for a paraco competitor in the past and I can tell you as a previous propane customer service rep we had weeks of training and would probably be fired on the spot for half the things these incompetent humans have said. That being said these customer service reps seem to have had maybe 10 minutes of training and zero supervision. They need to really jump on the bandwagon and realize that all customers these days feel entitled and demand better service so they need to step up their customer service game. read more

I have been a Paraco customer for about 35 years. Recently they did not provide a timely delivery and I ran out of propane. I am on an automatic delivery schedule so this was Paraco's fault. Because the gas lines were not full Paraco must test my home to ensure the lines in my home have not collapsed and have created a leak. I have been unable to use the propane in my tank (that they supplied and have charged for) for 3 days now, unable to use my stove to cook. Instead of giving support to me for a problem they caused they want me to take a day off from work to meet their schedule. this is no way to treat a long time customer/ read more

Try to call and simply order a refill....no big deal right? Nope, EVERY TIME I call to order I'm put on hold then disconnected. But worse than that I'm ALWAYS told I owe 200+ dollars on a past bill. After multiple phone calls back and forth its always established that I DO NOT have an outstanding balance. This seriously happens EVERY TIME I call to order. Dont EVER give them the ok to use a card on file without checking if there's a supposed outstanding balance. We used Kosco for many years and were satisfied with their service--we never had problems getting timely gas delivery. The past year, Kosco was bought by Paraco, and suddenly we're having terrible trouble getting timely delivery--in the teeth of a brutal cold snap. Our tanks are right now down to 5 percent, and we called them yesterday to tell them so. They promised to send a truck yesterday, which never happened. There's no other heat source in our house, and we've turned our heat down to 60. Should gas run out, we're going to have frozen pipes. Their billing system is byzantine--my wife wrote a letter to management to complain about the fact that the online bill numbers don't match up with the paper bills that get hung on our door. She never got a reply. Two neighbors had their oil tanks run dry because delivery was late. Steer away from this company! read more

PREFACE: Location: 12401-Kingston NY: Prepaid , auto-delivery account...ran out of gas in the middle of a dinner party for 12 on 1/7/18!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness the food was already cooked. Called them, phone rang once and went dead. Called 2 additional numbers, same response. Finally used 3 different cell phones on 3 different numbers (one the emergency /repair number), all waited 40 minutes plus (one over an hour) until one number finally answered. Meanwhile I missed my dinner party sitting on "the phones"... but the guests had a good meal, albeit in a somewhat chilly environment. Paraco Told me they couldn't come till the next day. OH REALLY, and when the 2 year old freezes to death and the 4 senior citizens die of exposure and my house explodes from frozen pipes...where would you like my lawyer to send that bill? And oh, by the way, I will need a few hotel rooms tonight for some of my guests. Showed up around 10 pm with 22 gallons of propane on 1/7/18. Promised me a delivery first thing Sunday 1/8. NO delivery by 4 pm....I called again....waited 22 minutes in que...promised me a delivery Sunday night and said they would call when they were on their way. I told them I was going out to dinner and it wasn't necessary to call...just make the delivery. Meanwhile, I turned the thermostat down to 65, haven't had a damn shower in 2 nights, barely cooking anything and can't finish washing the dishes from Saturday night because I don't want to use the hot water (heated by gas)...I'm trying to conserve...borrowed 4 electric space heaters, all plugged in and set on high since Saturday night...OKAY...so they don't show up Sunday night either! UNREAL. Tank is at zero this morning, I call them again, lost track of how long I waited...they promise delivery...someone actually calls me at 10 ish am this morning and says they are "looping around" and will make a delivery. I leave for the day, get back about 6 ish to find they still haven't been here!! OMG...this company is unbelievable. Called them again...about 34 minutes in que again, they apologize and promise they will be here before the day is over. They have zero credibility....OH wait, I think I just saw the truck coming up the road!!! almost 48 hrs in sub freezing weather. Thank goodness I hadn't gone out of town for the weekend...I would have had 10's of thousands of dollars worth of damage to my home (I'm in the middle of a full renovation)...SO, this is the service that you get for a PREPAID, AUTO DELIVERY ACCOUNT. New Year cold /snap of 2018. 1/5/18: check my rental house oil tank, gauge is touching empty. Call Kosco/Paraco for an emergency delivery. They say not today, but tomorrow. They tell me to go to a gas station and pick up 15 gal. of diesel to put in the tank, which I did. My wife is about to throw me out of the house from the stink of the diesel after that caper. 1/6/18: 2pm try Paraco's live chat who informs me that my delivery is "on route", 3pm Call customer service, am told they are only filling people who have no fuel and no heat. Second run to the gas station to buy 20 gals of diesel. It is Saturday night. Is my delivery still "on route". When I checked the delivery page in my on-line account with Paraco, I discovered that a delivery had been scheduled for 12/29/17. That would have been perfect. Why didn't they do it? I think that they screwed up in planning for a much warmer winter than we have. Now I have to find a new supplier. read more
