After eating dinner in Aspen, I yelped a dessert place nearby and came across Paradise Bakery. When it's 30 degrees out and see you a line inside Paradise Bakery, you know that's a good sign. The shop is super tiny with no tables for seating. Paradise Bakery offers homemade gelato, baked goods and beverages. Even in the cold weather, gelato was a popular choice among its customers. We asked for gelato samples to try before making our order. I ordered a small gelato that included two flavors (Mango and Vanilla chocolate chip) and a FREE complimentary small cookie that set me back $4.35. The portions are very generous and you can probably get away sharing one. As for the baked goods, we ordered the lemon, sugar and chocolate chip cookies. All were delicious! For Aspen, Paradise Bakery is pretty affordable and a must-visit! read more

Great baked goods and ice cream/gelato. Service tends to be young and friendly. Summer with music students playing outside is terrific. Also of note - Paradise seems to donate cookies, muffins, etc to almost every non-profit race, event, fundraiser, etc. They get extra goodwill points for that in my book. read more

We ordered a bunch of stuff from here. I'd give it 5 if I didn't order a smoothie which was basically a strawberry milkshake. The cinnamon roll was DELIGHTFUL. Easily the best thing I had of the lot. Blueberry Muffin was a little low on the sweet side, I wish I had some butter to add to it! Order this if you don't want your party as sweet. The chocolate croissant was insanely good, highly recommend. read more

For 3 months I went to this bakery every morning at the same time to get my very expensive latte, breakfast burrito, and a blueberry muffin. Every day I ordered the same thing. Not once the staff recognized me, asked me how I was doing. This is for sure not your "neighborhood bakery" where everyone knows your name. After the coronavirus lockdown, I stopped going. Now I get my coffee at Local Cafe, which is much better. Just an example... Every time I go to the Hotel Jerome the staff recognizes me, they say hello and asks me how I am, so it's not that hard to be nice to a regular customer. read more

We came after watching the sunrise at Maroon Bells and definitely needed some good breakfast! We were staying at The Gant in Aspen and this local place was really close by and had great reviews...and did not disappoint! There is no place to sit down so we had everything to go and ate it back at our resort. October is off season so there was no line or wait. They were fast and friendly, though I wish they did have a bigger space for tables - because my family likes to sit down, but I love the feel of it anyways. They had our food ready before my family was done making their coffee! We ordered breakfast sandwich croissants and bagel, spinach croissant, ham and cheese croissant, cinnamon rolls, blueberry cream croissant, and coffees. The croissants and cinnamon roll were the favorites!! Absolutely recommend coming here in Aspen! read more

Omg the chocolate fudge ice cream!!! Soooo rich and soooo good!!!! The ice cream comes with a small delish cookie as well! The ginger cookies and cream was absolutely amazing as well. Sooo flavorful! The cappuccino toffee crunch tasted exactly like a frozen cappuccino. Also very flavorful. Love love love this place so much I came twice two days in a row! read more

This is a hidden gem! Don't forget to pay for your parking meter because you are in for a bit! Every time I'm in town I stop in for some ice cream and baked treats! They don't really make it all the way home but they are amazing for on the road adventures. The breakfast burritos are really good just keep in mind they are already pre-made so you can't be too picky. Muffins, cookies, croissants and everything else you can think of they make it. Paradise Bakery lives up to its name. With that piece of information alone, you should already be standing in line for their heavenly treats (even if said line is wrapped around the corner and down the block). Unfortunately, I cannot promise it will move quickly but can definitely guarantee it is worth the wait. Their outstanding collection of daily house-made decadents-from gelatos to muffins and croissants-will satisfy, if not succeed, any sweet craving. If you cannot choose between the many delicious options (like me), locally employed staff will enthusiastically help. Prices, unlike the rest of Aspen, are not outrageously high, too! As a true Aspenite, Paradise holds an extra special place in my heart. It always follows gondola laps on Ajax, hikes up Hunter Creek, and White House Tavern burgers. Needless to say, their cream cheese brownies and oatmeal chocolate chippers are the cherry-on-top of an impeccable Aspen day. A taste of Paradise is, truly, a taste of paradise. read more

This is a must stop if you're in Aspen. The homemade gelato is amazing and they have tons of other goodies too - muffins, cookies, pastries, all of it delicious. Incidentally, while in Denver I think I may have found my favorite Ice Cream of all time. All time. Little Man delivers some of the best stuff, but I digress... Paradise Bakery is a cute little bakery / ice cream shop on a corner in downtown Aspen. They had several samples of their rich baked items and a fun selection of ice cream flavors. The chocolate toffee was my favorite. The oreo was a bit too icy and not chocolatey/cookie-ish enough for me. Overall, cute, delicious and a great way to end the day. Went in there Friday and first off the only person who greeted me was the blonde girl at the register. Be in mind there was Spanish music playing and the Spanish speaking people were huddled in one big group talking together Felt very awkward. I had to wait awhile for my drink because the girls were to busy talking but they finally realized i was waiting for something. Probably won't return. read more

Located in the heart of Aspen. Unfortunately, we only went in for tea since we had just eaten breakfast and were full. The Gelato looked amazing as well as the pastries. It's right next to our favorite lil chic shop so we will definitely check out the sweets corner next trip! There's seating just outside with a beautiful view of the ski slopes and wonderful for people watching. read more

While there isn't a huge selection of bakeries in Aspen that I know of I still love it for all of the right reasons....the sweets! Location: Although I've heard they will need to relocate, for now....this location is fantastic. There is no indoor dining but honestly, sitting outside or walking around with my tasty treats has always been lovely. When there is music outside it gets absolutely packed. I love the music but enjoy it even more on just a really gorgeous day sitting on a bench just outside of the shop and looking at the gorgeousness of the surroundings. Selection: Cookies, brownies, muffins, gelato, cakes and more....but did you know they have awesome iced tea? I also love that they'll refill it for you! Note that if you're getting gelato, it'll come with a small chipper on top! Delightful. Staff: We've been coming here for four years and have never had anything but great friendly service. In fact, I don't know how they deal with the sometimes crazy throng of people waiting in line or when everyone's hands are out trying to snag a bit of the free samples. I've seen patrons get full on the samples. Seriously, but it's also been how we have been able to try other items and discover new favorites. While I love the oatmeal chippers, the lemon zester is so unique. It has such a great crunch to it while still being moist. Love it. For this family, a stop at Paradise is a must. read more

Excellent muffins, though there are a fair number I avoid due to an aversion to nuts in pastries. The gelato / sorbet is also great, and I appreciate that they have unique flavors. The cashier is super friendly and politely tolerated our kind-of unruly dog with a smile when we visited. It is always packed here but the outdoor window delivery of items helps reduce traffic in the store. If you come noon-midday, it's not too crowded. read more

This is nearly only bakery in the downtown Aspen. They open early enough for hikers. Cappuccino is ok but not great. It is better to have sweetened coffee creamer. The pastry is tasty. The waiting time is reasonable. read more

If you are ever in Aspen, make sure you stop by Paradise Bakery for a delicious baked good, coffee or treat. Their cinnamon roll is appropriately named "paradise" and the breakfast sandwiches and desserts and gelato we tried too throughout our stay were all amazing. A woman I met on the plane from Denver told me this was one of her two favorite places in town, so naturally I had to find it. As I was walking over, a complete stranger struck up a conversation, and being friendly, I chatted with him along the way. Before I knew it he was telling me he wanted to come eat with me, and I could not get my "No" out fast enough. I quickly realized he was under the influence, dealing with a mental health issue, or both and I wasn't sure how to free myself from him. I didn't even know his name. Once we sat down, I excused myself to the bathroom so I could tell the staff I had no idea who he was, or whether he intended to pay or expected me to. I'm not writing this to demonize the poor man, who at the end of the day was clearly pulling on some unconscious compassion. I'm writing it to thank the staff. Everyone was so kind, asking if I was okay, assuring me they'd split the check, and I think one of them even offered to walk me out the back if I wanted an escape route. We made it through dinner, he paid for himself, and I figured out how to shake him loose afterward. I'm so grateful for all the checking in you did throughout the evening, and for helping me not overreact. I'd wanted an app, a salad, a dessert. I also needed to get out of there. The bread was super yum, the Bolognese was decadent, and the Tuscan Chardonnay was gorgeous. I'll recommend this place to everyone. Sorry for bringing drama into your establishment. I'm sure a Michelin-adjacent restaurant doesn't need that on a Sunday. Thanks again for the great food and the great, above-and-beyond service.

I was really disappointed with what I saw at the register today. The cashier was only handing customers the tip receipt to sign without showing the itemized receipt first, and the 15% service charge was already added. I watched one customer pay the $7 service charge and then unknowingly add a $10 tip on top of it. Several others did the same because they had no idea the service charge was already included. What bothered me even more was that the cashier held back the itemized receipt until after customers had already signed and added a tip, and only then asked, "Do you want your receipt?" At that point, customers had no chance to see what they were actually paying for. If people want to tip extra, that's totally fine -- but they should be aware of what's already been added. Watching multiple customers unintentionally double‑tip didn't feel good, and it's something that needs to be addressed.

It was impossible not to feel that she was being judged based solely on her appearance. There is absolutely nothing wrong with verifying ownership of a valuable item. In fact, we appreciate businesses that take lost property seriously. What is unacceptable is allowing assumptions and stereotypes to influence how customers are treated. One lesson worth remembering is that genuine elegance and long established wealth rarely need to announce themselves. Those who have had the privilege of success across generations often feel no need to advertise it with designer logos or outward displays. True class is reflected in education, humility, confidence, and, above all, in the way people treat others. Ironically, Carson's assumptions said far more about his own judgment than they did about my wife. No customer should ever be made to feel that they need to "look wealthy" in order to be treated with respect. We hope management addresses this issue seriously. The mediocre food was forgettable. Being judged and treated with prejudice is not. Every guest deserves to be treated with courtesy, professionalism, and dignity, regardless of how they are dressed or what assumptions someone chooses to make about them.

Enter, and find a room to your left with your high school and college reading list by must read authors. Next find a second room dedicated to Children's books. Then on the other side you'll discuss poetry, history, philosophy, science, politics, and Staff picks. Upstairs you'll find the arts, cooking, home and garden, as well as a cafe and wine bar (with great views of the mountains). Our group, who have varying tastes and interests, spent nearly two hours exploring this wonderful bookstore, and happily found what we searched.

I have always loved that this shop is inside an old house, but it just brings all the vibes in the Fall months. Just FYI, as you can imagine, Aspen is pricey so don't be offended if you see a sign for a 5% upcharge on goods so they can keep this shop independent and running!
