Previously, we took the Freda B on the Wildlife Morning Sail in 2024, which was also fantastic. What makes the Freda B special is the crew. The vessel itself is gorgeous--even the "head" is great! From the moment you board and are greeted by the crew, you know you're in good hands. The safety instructions are thorough, and the crew immediately puts you at ease before setting off. Whether you have a clear night or a little fog (like tonight), the skies are beautiful, the Golden Gate Bridge is magical, and San Francisco twinkles in the distance. The crew meets your every need with kindness, excellent service, and genuine interest in you as a passenger. They're also an interesting bunch--just ask them about themselves! Hot (chocolate!) and cold beverages are available for purchase, including adult beverages. For out of towners...Wear and bring layers. Jacket + sweater/fleece, long pants, beanie hat, gloves if you have them. Blankets available onboard. This is SF Bay 12 months a year - always chilly and the sail is worth every layer of clothing. You can access the 'beach' from steep stairwells off the cliffs of Belvedere, also on Beach Road. The beach is very rocky but is rumored to have good fishing, but you will need to caste out. If you are boating it makes a good spot to drop anchor, have lunch, do some fishing or you can use it to spend the night. Depending on how far into 'The Cove' you go, the majestic views include the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Belvedere Island, Tiburon, and San Francisco Bay. Belvedere Cove is home of the San Francisco Yacht Club, the oldest Yacht Club West of the Mississippi. The Club is widely recognized as the premier yachting facility on the West Coast. It operates a year round facility including a dry haul area, a full service restaurant and bar. The Club also has a very active junior sailing program and all members are committed to the Corinthian traditions of yachting.

My husband bought the tickets online to the ferry that would bring us to Angel Island where we can watch the fireworks. Luckily public parking was half a mile from the ferry, we brought a cart to put in our chairs, blankets, snacks and pizza that we got from one of the nearby businesses. The crew was nice, helpful and efficient especially when loading the ferry with customers and holding people and ancillary staff. They were very accommodating with people needing assistance with their canes, walkers, and other passengers were kind enough to help accommodate those who needed seating most. Great experience, quick trip to the island, and we had fun with the kids.

I called their hotline and left a voicemail the day of (1 hour before take off). We then get their 30 minutes before, I run down and hassle a crew member, and they say we can just rebook you. No doubt, the person checking our tickets said, okay, I can just rebook you. 45 seconds of swiping and he got us set up. This level of going over the top for customer satisfaction is beyond compare. A first-class sailing experience with Captain Doug…read more We booked Taihoa for a group of four and couldn't recommend it more highly. From the first email months out, Captain Doug was a fantastic communicator. Our original plan (a friend's 40th) changed, and he graciously converted our booking into a certificate without any hassle -- that flexibility set the tone for the whole experience. Taihoa herself is something special. Doug took real time before we cast off to walk us through her history and design -- a hand-built 1940s wooden classic -- and it gave the whole day a depth you don't get on a standard charter. Once we were underway, he even let us help sail her out of the harbor and into the bay, which was genuinely the highlight for us. We had a beautiful day of sun and wind, plenty of room for four, and at no point did we feel anything but safe and well looked after. If you love sailing -- or just want a memorable day on the water -- book with Doug. (And bring sunscreen!)

We sailed out of Sausalito floating across the Bay. We went under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz and Angel Island. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the views were absolutely beautiful!! One of my favorite parts was seeing SF from the water. The city, the Golden Gate, and the Bay Bridge all looked so tiny and beautiful in the distance. It was so fun waving to people on the shore and having people on the other boats wave back to us. It was just such a happy, fun, and delightful experience!! The crew was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the whole trip even better! We were lucky enough to join Wendy from Somatic Ecotherapy, and I'm so glad we got the opportunity to experience SF this way. By the end of the trip, my cheeks literally hurt from smiling so much!! It was just a genuinely delightful few hours, and I would absolutely recommend Captain Kirk's to anyone looking for a fun and memorable way to experience the Bay. I will happily do this again!
