I think only one of the girls knows how to do nails because the others were just waiting there. Anyway. I was getting a refill and they kept complaining about how bad the last job was. That was kind of annoying because I still haven't found a good nail tech lol but that has nothing to do with me. My nails came out great but I ended up paying $70 for a refill and I WAS SO CONFUSED. I have to say I had one of the best and most thorough pedicures I've ever had. They took their time with each step. I didn't feel rushed what so ever. The nail technicians were all so sweet! There were regular clients coming in and out which both parties knew their names. So that was a good sign. I wish there had been relaxing music playing and I wasn't offered anything to drink...as other places around the area do, but my feet look great and as I mentioned they really took their time! While I love the how my nails look and do genuinely like the people there, I do not feel as though they are appreciative of my time at all. Today, I was left at the pedicure chair by the manicurist, IN THE MIDDLE of MY manicure, so the manicurist can wax another client despite that client arriving 20 minutes after I did. While they may feel like I was still being serviced, I spent an extra 40 minutes on the manicure after my pedicure was finished. I decided to stop here on the way home from work instead of my usually spot and left very disappointed. For the price point I was expecting a high quality manicure but I left with Polish stuck under my nails sticking to my skin as as well as rough fingertips getting caught on fabric, they were not filed or shaped correctly! I wouldn't recommend this place to any one. Sat down with one lady who starting cleaning my cuticles... and cut the side of my toes and they started to burn as she continued on. The sharp clipper she used to cut my cuticles, she grabbed from her cart. I'm pretty sure it wasn't sterilized between customers. She did a two minute rough scrub on my feet. After that, she got up in the middle of the service to wax someone else. Another lady took over and finished more than half of the work in five minutes. She put lotion on my legs and rubbed for two minutes and called it a day. The job wasn't done properly. I see gaps on some of my toes where they didn't even try to cover. The coats are uneven and very visible. Best part? She charged me $60. It's more expensive than a regular pedicure because I got Shellac. But come on... there's a nail salons five minutes down the road that gives you hot stones, hot towels, the works... for less including the up charge on Shellac. Never again. read more

$30+ tip for a super crappy pedicure? Meh, I am not pleased. This has got to be one of the worst pedicures I've had. I hate to leave bad reviews but I feel compelled to do so here. An older lady did my toes and she left multiple nail shards on the sides. Before painting the toes, she walked away and I saw a shard of nail sticking out so I pulled it out which lead me to bleed a little. Whatever, I'd rather bleed than have an ingrown later on. When she came back she started yelling at me about why I hurt myself. Well, if you hadn't left a piece of nail sticking up like that, I wouldn't have anything to pull out now would I? Let it go lady, I'm not complaining about it. What I was attempting to do, multiple times, was to tell you about the other ones that are still left but she refused to listen. She proceeded to paint my toes, super slowly and a bit messily and when she got to that one, I stopped her and told her again to cut the piece on the side that she had left in. Then someone else came to take over for her and finished painting my toes. Thank goodness. On the way out I noticed that there was a little pain in another toe. I looked and found yet another nail that wasn't cut properly all the way and the side was stabbing into my skin. I went back in and had the second girl fix it for me. I come here for my eyebrows. I used to go to a place across the street from my apartment but they made me mad. This was the next closest place. I've had a 2 different people do my eyebrows and they both did an EXCELLENT JOB. They do threading here too. She usually waxes (because I always wait too long), then threads. I normally don't bother with my nails, but I decided to pamper myself one day and got a shellac manicure. It was ok but they didn't paint all the way down. I hate that. It was also $$$. When debating whether to go to your usual nail place or settle for the convenience of one nearby, I caution you to devote the time it takes to muddle through Houston traffic to go somewhere good. Though the nail polish selection was good (bright colors for summer + everyday staples in OPI) and I didn't have to wait for a chair, the spa chair I sat in was broken. The massaging spa chair is important to me, so I asked to sit in another chair. The second chair worked, but just barely. The massage was more like someone breathing on my back. It made me nauseous, do I turned it off. Unfortunately, the massaging apparatus still protrudes through the very worn chairs, making it uncomfortable to sit on. As far as the actual manicure: lacking in attention to detail. I'd rate the manicure 3.0/5.0, but the overall experience 2.0/5.0. Came here with a friend to get our eyebrows threaded and I did not expect it to be this painful. I thought it was just because it was my first time, but my friend has had her eyebrows done several times before and she also said it hurt a lot. I can tell that Mary (the lady who threads) is experienced (she has been working for 25 years), but it didn't seem like she really cared that much and just went to town on our faces. She is super fast though, so this would be a good place to go to in a pinch. So now I am here writing this review with swelling and bumps on my forehead. I've done shellac manicures every time and I've yet to have chipped nails. That to me is a HUGE plus! I understand the agony of having chipped nails almost immediately after an appointment. NOT THIS PLACE. They also serve Cafe Sua Da. SAY WHATT!! Mmhmm! :) I love that this place offers 3 levels of manicures and pedicures. I've gotten the Escape Mani and Pedi (middle level) twice and it sure helps me feel like I'm on a vacation. I never want it to end. Pampering is my best friend and she sure is expensive. They give you a warm pillow to put on your shoulders, they give you a foot rub, they give you a neck rub, they use hot stones for your legs and your neck, ON TOP of beautifying your nails. It's pretty awesome. Just make sure and wear shorts or pants that can be rolled up easily. 2/3 times I wore annoying skinny pants that couldn't roll up enough to get the full experience. I had them waxed for about a year but after being put on Retin Micro I have switched to threading and they turn out just as sleek and, in my experience, stay shaped longer. I called to make an appt and specifically told them that I only had an hour and they assured me that a regular mani/pedi could be done. I get there on time, I tell them my name and they sit me down right away and put my feet in water. I sat there for 30 mins and by noon I simply asked them how much longer and if my feet would be dry in 30 mins to which they said no. I ended up wasting 30 mins for nothing even after making an appt. As a patron of Paradise Nails for 9 years, I am proud to give a rating of 5 stars. I initially came when it was fairly new bringing senior citizens for a bi weekly appointment. The staff was accommodating and extremely kind to my residents. They even made sure the salon was walker, wheelchair, and cane friendly for them by only servicing them during that time. It was extremely clean which was important to me since they were seniors. In one visit, the owner challenged me to give them a try and I did. I have never looked back at another salon! Thuy is my nail technician and always does an exceptional job. She is gentle, listens to all of my needs and most of all is professional. 9 years later, the salon is still very clean and the services are even better. There is constant learning that is evident and offering of new techniques and trends that appeal to the market of the area. Paradise also offers waxing and threading. Mary is awesome. Oh, and both Thuy and Mary asked about my parents during their 5 years overseas and also made provisions for my mother during her visits and special arrangements for a family friend that came from Dallas to be serviced just for her wedding! Well I came to this place on New Year's Eve bc my regular nail salon was short staffed. So I literally set up an apt at 2:30 for this place knowing it was going to be busy. I got to my apt 20 min early got seated and waited till 245 to get my nails started. Now normally when I get a full set it comes with a nice cuticle cut down and I add gelish which I pay about $45-$60 total with a tip. This place I got the same service as I always do but walked out paying $70!!!! That's without a tip. And the nail job was shitty. The lady filed my cuticle area so raw that it hurts to use that finger. She originally said it was going to be about $60. $30 for the full set and $30 ($15 at my regular salon) for gelish. I said that's with a cuticle cut down and she said yes ( my nails needed love so I sat down). when she tells me it was $70 bc $10 extra for cuticle cut down i asked her why when I asked if it was included. She told me she didn't understand what I asked her. I am never going back to this place. My nails do not look like $70 nails. read more
