Date of visit: August 16, 2025 Since I was in the area waiting for my car to get worked on at Firestone - and my back, legs, and feet needed some self-care post Comic-Con - I decided to not only treat myself to a massage, but also to try out something I've never had done before: cupping. Paradise Spa looked legit, and their prices were reasonable ($60 for 1 hour, and $10 extra for cupping), so I decided to have it done there. Now, while my masseuse did a good job on my neck, shoulders, and back, and the gentleman working the desk was pleasant enough, there were some issues. - The cupping itself wasn't too bad when it was being applied, but apparently she had left the cups on a bit too long and a bit too tight. As a result, not only did I have the suction marks on my skin, I also have skin blisters (she advised me not to shower for 24 hours, as well as not do anything that would make my back sweat). This also leads to my next point of contention... - My masseuse's English wasn't great, so we had to use Google Translate on her phone to communicate. At least she was very apologetic at what had happened to my back. And... - She didn't massage my face, nor pop my fingers and toes! For a guy that works on a keyboard for a living, having my fingers popped is a nice thing to look forward to when I get a massage. As you enter, the place looks really nice and clean, which is great. However, the problem here was that the massage sucked. The lady didn't seem to know what she was doing and just went through the motions. My baby brother could have taken my money and given me a better experience. I never leave a complaint, but this was the worst massage I've ever had! Also, you have to tip at the end, and they make you tip! Went here for a couples massage and they didn't disappoint. -Friendly front desk man that took walk-ins :-) -The price was fair at $120 for both of us for 60 min. full body massage. -The place is pretty big and quite clean! -We shared a room but you can do separate rooms if you want -Both of our massage therapists were very good. They gave us a strong hard massage but not too much which was perfect for all the knots in our back -They didn't stop massaging or leave the room during our session like some other places that I've been visited I would return if I'm in the area again for sure! read more

This is a 'GREAT place the people at the front counter are very friendly. Have been coming here for about 2 years all you have to do is tell the girls what type of massage you want. or tell the person out front and they will make sure that they relay it to the girls. I morally get a 2 hour massage (sometimes 3 or ever 4). They do such a good job I have fallen asleep. Just make sure that you tip accordingly at least 20.00 if not more. they most likely work on tips only. The most important thing is communicate. read more

Had a wonderful and relaxing Sunday thanks to Paradise Spa and the ridiculously kind service from Tony. We called in to set an appointment and they were very accommodating. The venue is in the corner of a parking lot off of Convoy Street and parking was very simple for our Sunday afternoon. It may get packed due to the popular restaurants in the plaza - but any local to Convoy will know that's how it goes. (If it seems like a reserved parking spot, it probably is ) When we walked in, they had a display board with the many packages and exceedingly affordable prices for the length of service they provide. A 60 minute foot massage (which for those of you who are fresh to the concept - also includes some time on your neck, head, back and shoulders) was only $25 and I added hot stones to the package for only $10. I believe you can do that to any foot or full body package you choose also. (Seriously though at the regular rate, that's less than 50 cents a minute you're paying for and most places are more than happy to charge anywhere from $1+/ min - The price CANNOT be beat!) The massage rooms were in a dark and relaxing environment and the massage beds were very comfortable. The pressure points they were kneading were wonderful and I nearly dozed off in my session because they were getting out all the knots from my daily stress. The hot stones were such a great addition because after a really warm and relaxing foot bath and scrub, the smooth hot stones felt cleansing. I absolutely will be returning on a regular basis after my especially stressful weeks and will definitely be recommending to my friends! read more

This is the worst spa. Do not waste your money. When a peraon start robbing you in a weird way I mean really soft and slight that mean it will lead to something else. Massage was horrible. The robe are being reused without washing them. So, if you decided to take the risk, please do use the robe. 3 massagers I knownone of them is not good. Well, I see some people 5 star reviews. Place is clean, tidy, and spacious compared to many places I have been to. It is also never busy when I stop in. I always wonder about that. I like the ability to walk in without an appointment. Place is open until 11 or so which makes it a great place to stop in with my work schedule. I have never had a full body massage here. All of my visits have been for foot massages which are excellent. You get a nice upper body massage also but most of the work is on your feet and after spending most of your day on your feet, it feels really good. read more

I always bring cash. However, since I did not know that I would be charged an additional 2.00 for using a debit or credit card...they were kind enough to waive the fee for me. Surprisingly, upscale looking on the interior, very clean, peaceful environment with excellent massages and foot massages (reflexology). It is the perfect way to feel like you have been on a vacation without having to go anywhere and feel refreshed and relaxed. I am fortunate to have been to some of the best spas in the world. (yes, I admit it; I am a spa "junkie") I have been to the Spa at the Grand Wailea in Maui, spas in Telluride, Colorado ($250.00 for an hour massage!). Mammoth, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta Resort and multiple spas in San Diego. They are good; no complaints, except for the outrageous prices. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to find that Paradise Spa is equally wonderful for a fraction of the price. I love them and I will be back soon! I went there several weeks ago and now I am giving my brother the cash and referral to try it. read more

Well everything here was going fine until I was walked out the exit. Took my car next door to the Kearny Smog Check to get my car oiled, smogged, and evaluated for rattling noises in the first gear. They told me it'd take about an hour so I strolled off and my limbs started flaring up again. So I Yelped around and notice Paradise Spa was right around the corner with some pretty good average reviews. The front counter seemed clean and the man and woman up there seemed kind enough. So it was $40 for a full hour full body massage but I tipped 25% ahead of time (big mistake). Didn't time if I indeed got a full hour's worth because Sarah was so good I started passing out and woke up startled every couple of minutes. She was very thorough and hit every spot. The calves, feet, shoulder, face, chest, back, everything. Struck up a little conversation about how she came over here to America in 2009 for studies and cultural differences. Then came time when the "hour" was up. She was asking about the tip to my surprise which I replied I had already done so at the front counter. Unconvinced, she followed me to the front where she asked the guy at the front counter about it. Seriously? My credibility is at an all time low. And then...the guy asked me if I wanted to modify my tip. I asked him to repeat what he said in disbelief, and he repeated if I would like to modify my tip and if my service was good. Ha. Seriously? That's a 25% tip that's saying service is extraordinary I usually tip 15% so it was incredulous that this guy was asking me for more than 25%. I told him no DID NOT want to modify my tip and left but not before he told Sarah the amount and she had her lips pursed. Note to self, wait for the bill before tip in the future. read more

Had the worst massage ever at this place ~ It's bad enough that we as clients cannot verbally communicate with our practitioner as they do not understand english but the worst part is the fact that they do not understand body mechanics and have no idea how to give a massage. I asked for the front desk person 10 min into my massage and was told he busy later, and never got to speak with him during my sorry excuse for a massage experience. I know I'm not crazy in knowing that this type of reflexology massage should equally offer the same things to both sides of the body. And I definitely know I'm not crazy in knowing that chasing people out the door demanding a tip is beyond unprofessional and unacceptable. I am a massage lover! I had been in the same massage store for 1 year on convey and last night I decided to try something new place with my husband! The place is reall nice and clean, definitely a 5 star massage store. But the foot massage that i was getting here was not as good as I expected. First of all my masseuse didn't really know how to massage the back part, I mean everywhere else was great but he seems not learn that far, so it was not professional when it came to the back. Second they only gave us a 45-50mins foot massage instead of 60 mins one for $20. I didn't really mean to count every single minute. Just because I received my friend's txt when they just started it . Then I realized that I did not get a full 60 mins. I still tip them $10 each just not make them feel bad but I hope the next customer can get a full 60 mins massage. read more

Today, my usual massage place was all booked. My friend and I tried the hot stone foot massage. I would have to say it was not the best experience. The massage lady next to us is in a short skirt, needless to say when she was bending over, we had a full view of buttcheeks! The BFF and I were driving along Convoy when I spotted this location so we stopped in to see how much. There decor is updated and very clean. Certainly with a friendly staff and the owner was definitely kind and open. My BFF is the very opinionated type of girl and he did make a note of her "business suggestions" that's a real big bonus someone who listens and takes suggestions after all customers knows best. I got the $20 foot massage which included 10min back massage, arms, head and the obvious foot. I wanted someone gentle but can dig into me just right and the guy that I had was great. Paradise Spa is my favorite massage place in San Diego. I've tried out close to a dozen massage places in San Diego and I've gone here the most. Out of all the massage therapists, Yuna is the best. She knows how to do various styles of massage and she's highly experienced. Some beginner therapists will just go through the motions and do the same thing with every client. When my muscles are really stiff, Yuna can tell and ask me about it. She'll then adjust the massage style to the situation. THE BARS: Also, if you're looking for a very strong massage, ask for the massage bars. Some rooms have massage bars/rails on the ceiling that the therapists hold for support as they walk on your back. I always request the bars. FIRST TIMERS: When I first went to Paradise Spa, I requested the lowest cost massage. The next time, I upgraded to the next level up and I never ever wanted to to go back. $40+ for a 1 hour massage - it's well worth the price. Even a 90+ minute massage is great! Compared to the massage therapists in the bay area, the ones at Paradise work harder and do an excellent job. I usually tip $20+ since the service is better than all the other places I've tried in SD. read more

I've been here at least 6 times and have received excellent massages. Anna and May are highly recommended. They charge only $40 for and hour. Many places charge $60 and demand $50 tips. Not here. Sometimes they do not answer phone so I have to walk in without an appointment and have to wait 20 or 30 minutes for a masseuse. Otherwise, a great bargain and service. read more

The Manager here, Ken, is Fantastic and very professional! I've come here numerous time in the past few years. Staff is amazing, beyond relaxing massages, private rooms, very quite, can't hear others whispering, playing, or anything like that. I'd say hands down probably the best Asian massage around I've been to many around town, but some of those are..........never-mind! Anyways...MOVING ON! Everyone here was really nice, my masseuse David was great, and I walked out of here feeling like a million bucks without breaking the bank. This place is by far the worst. My girlfriend had a horrible experience but they encouraged us to come back after they didn't offer a refund because she didn't complain until the end. We went back and tried again... huge mistake. Hands down the worst massage I've ever had. As advised by the guy in the front I got up and walked out of my massage to express how bad the massage was. All he had to say was she's never had a complaint. No refund, no nothing. Essentially I paid for a massage I walked out of 15 minutes into. I've come here before many times. Today I had my first bad experience here. My masseuse was yuki (however you spell it) and she gave a less than ok massage. Normally I tip 20 dollars for a good massage and 15 if it wasnt that good. So I decided to give her 15. She scoffed at it and demanded 20 more dollars. First time at a reflexology place & it was a nice, unique experience! The front desk took our 3 appointments over the phone and called to follow up as well. We had our feet soak in some warm water and laid on our back for the head to foot massage. I actually fell asleep cause I felt so relaxed! I didn't give 5 stars because there were some awkward placement of the massage such as the front, upper thighs and right on your buttocks when you are on your stomach. We were in a room with 4 low-level beds and the lights were dim very low to increase your relaxation. My husband had a petite woman and I heard him saying he needed more pressure and she said she had her whole leg on him and when I looked over, she looked like she was doing some acrobats on his back, but she was too light for him to feel enough pressure. Haha! My friend who lives in SD and took us there said her masseuse was putting too much pressure and it kind of hurt her & he didn't ask if it was ok for her. I would consider myself a massage noobie, but I felt that I needed to review Paradise Spa. The location is very low-key but the establishment itself is very professional. As soon as you walk in the staff is very friendly. I called in ahead of time to see if they were busy and they said that they weren't busy so I could come right in, which was nice because it was Easter. I treated myself, girlfriend and her parents to a $20 hour long foot massage. They were able to give us a room right away with 4 beds. The four of us walked away very content. And you can't beat a $20 hour long foot massage that includes arms, shoulders, neck, head and back! It was a welcome surprise. I'll definitely be back for more! My husband and I just got a foot reflexology massage and it was so good! The service was good as soon as we entered and we didn't have to wait at all. It's a great price - $15 for 30 minutes. My masseuse massage my face and head first while my feet soaked then proceeded with the foot massage. It was a good pressure and very relaxing. Came in late one night to get a foot massage. It was amazing. They're like the typical foot massage places. My experience was a memorable one. With prices that cheap I'm going to have to make this a weekly ritual, I used to get pedicures just for the foot massages this place is way more worth the money spent. I've been to many reflexology places in the Bay Area and San Diego, and this place is one of the best! The front actually speaks understandable English and the place was quiet inside (other than the walking). They also honor appointments and pick up your calls for questions (lots of other places have problems with this). The guy I had had really soft hands and they even ask you if you want a soft, medium, or hard massage. That's very good customer service. I asked for a medium massage and I actually got a medium massage. He got out all my kinks and it was so relaxing after a stressful day at work. The cost is only $20 if you pay cash, and $21 with credit card ($1 service fee). At least they take credit cards as many places don't. Tip well! They deserve it! The only con I can think of is that it was a little chilly inside but it is winter and they wrap you up. They were all so nice. The plus is that when you walk outside they got sushi, tofu house, and Korean BBQ (Manna and Roadem) close by and the parking is good. Overall a great reflexology massage place! My foot massage was not good. She never asked about pressure preference and the pressure was inconsistent throughout the whole thing. She basically rubbed oil on my feet and legs the whole time. The pressure would get a little better when her boss came in the room and then back to nothing. And ended the massage 3 minutes early. I came to this place randomly because they are open until 11pm and my regular place was already closed. I do feel like the other masseuse in the room was doing a good job with his customer, so maybe just ask for one of the non lazy ones. read more

I love massages. I have a few favorite spots. Been coming here for years and sending all of my friends. Probably had 20 massages over the years here since they opened. When you go enough you can figure out pretty well how it should go and the difference between good and bad and mediocre massages. The last time I was here a few months ago I brought a friend for reflexology and his massage was great and mine was lacking. Tonight I decided to give them one more shot. I really needed a massage. I have fibromyalgia and have been flaring up really bad lately. Called in and made an appointment. Got in right away. Was taken to the foot massage area and laid down. My masseuse brought me a bucket of water to put my feet in. It was freezing cold. It was cold in there already but having your feet in cold water wasn't relaxing at all. He started on my face. I asked for just my forehead area and it was light. Like really light. Not even a soft touch or calm tingling tickle. Just an "I don't care" kind of a rub. Then he moved to my head which didn't feel very good and just messed up and tangled my hair. The whole time I was just thinking about the dredlocks that I'll have to comb out later. All while being freezing. Then he moved on to the neck. I asked for another towel because of how cold I was. Then he started on my arms. My hands and wrists were what I was looking foreword to the most because that's where my pain mostly is. Well I was very disappointed. It was fast and haphazard and was so light that I was sure this man was asleep while massaging me. Each arm and hand was worked for less than a minute. As time was passing I kept trying to figure out how to leave because this was such a waste of time and money. He finally takes my feet out of the water and started rubbing them, well, more like touching them with oil. I just kept watching the clock and trying to plan my escape strategy. But I'm not a rude or "may I speak to your manager" type of person. So I just kept waiting for it to get better. Maybe he needed to warm up. He just hadn't gotten into his grove yet. So I patiently waited for things to turn around. He even asked me twice if the pressure was good. I asked for harder and was ignored. Not sure if it would have made a difference though because I don't think he had any knowledge of the human body or structure. It was far from therapeutic. He was coughing under his breath so maybe he was sick. I'm not sure what was going on but I felt taken advantage of as this guy is acting like the last thing on earth he wants to do is massage me right now. I'm starting to get mad. Internally screaming. At this point I couldn't walk out because my legs were covered in oil. So I sat there. During a massage you should be hoping it would never end..not count down the minutes until you can leave. Anyway, I almost left after my feet were done but couldn't bring myself to walk out so I flipped over for him to do my back side. Same thing there. No energy or care. Finally when it was over and I was free to go I went to the front and told the manager how awful it was and all he said was that he'd talk to him. Then asked me what type of tip I wanted to leave. I was blown away. I said I didn't know. I usually tip $20 or more but didn't think that was appropriate today. I wanted to leave nothing. Instead I gave $5. Then thought about it and got upset that I was paying full price AND asked to leave a tip when the massage was so bad that you couldn't pay me to go through it again. I mustered up the courage to ask why I was paying full price and he gave me five bucks back. Wow. I should have spent an hour burning $32 for warmth and I would have gotten more out of it. Very sad. This was my favorite place. Bummer I won't be back or referring anyone here again. Maybe it's just a cover for a certain type of parlor that isn't focused on actual massage anymore. New massage & spa on Convoy. Extremely professional - everything is brand new and very modern. Some of the rooms even have flat screens to watch TV while you are getting your massage. Masseuse gave strong massage, my back feels much better now. Also, the owner is very friendly and hospitable. I'll definitely go back again. read more
