My best friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday. We were a little worried about the nudity situation in the pool area, but it was nice to know that you could keep your towels on while you were in the nude pool area. From the beginning of the visit we were greeted by a very customer service oriented person at the front. She was kind enough to wait for the rest of our party to get us started. It was great to be able to see that at the beginning of entering, they have shoe lockers, so that you can take your shoes off and get them in an area away from the clean spa area. Then we went into the dressing room and we were given our spa suits that we would be wearing for the day experience and treatments. After we got our spa suits on, we were shown an area where we could have light snacks, tea, and beverages while we waited and enjoyed the spa for the day. This was included in the day pass and if you wanted extra massages or treatments, you could also opt to have that for added costs. Two of us decided to not have spa treatments and just enjoy the day pass. Three of us decided to have massage treatments. Overall, this was a wonderful visit. The spa is clean and very, very well organized. You do need to be nude in the pools areas, but there are separate pools areas for men and for women. The best Korean body scrub spa places in San Diego. When I first started going here I was super nervous having to be naked around all the women. However, you get over that very quickly as everyone around you is doing the same thing. Hanna was the one who did my body scrub and she is one of the best that I've had. She was super gentle but really got in there and gave me a nice scrub. They have two different areas separated by men and women with a common area that we both share while wearing their provided uniform. They have a privates wet area that is separated by women and men. That's the area where you can shower and enjoy the Jacuzzi or the cold Plunge pool while being completely naked and getting the body scrubs. In the common area, they have a lounge where it's dimly lit calm and peaceful and you can just chill on the sofas. They also have 3 different saunas in the common area. They have light snacks, candy, water, and tea available. But would love to see more fresh fruits. Even though they share a large parking lot with the other businesses around them, it's very hard to find close parking nearby since they only have a few in front of their facility. Highly recommend getting there at least 30 minutes to an hour prior to your massage or body scrub time so that you can enjoy the wet area with the sauna and the Jacuzzis prior to getting your body scrub. This place is great if you purchase the services because the entry is included! If you're from LA or OC, this does not compare to the Korean Spas from OC/LA , as this one is very small in comparison and does not offer as much in the jjimjilbang (only 1 salt room, 1 clay room, 1 cold room). $50 for entry fee for 3 hours Upon arrival, we made appointments for the body scrub and oil massage to treat my mom and ourselves for my mom's birthday. They give you your 2 towels (1 small for sweating and 1 larger one for showers) along with your uniform in the basket and the wristband with lock to your locker. The common room (both genders) had free various snacks/fruit as well as hot barley tea and lemon water for refreshments, probably to make up for the lack of food court. I'm happy they offered it. The common room also had couches to rest for their guests. Personally, I like to check out the jjimjilbang first and then use the only female hot sauna/steam room and hot tub and then enjoy my service. Some do it the other way around though, just based on preference! I rated it 4 due to cleanliness as there was just a little spots in the bathroom that needed more deep cleaning, other than that they did a great job at cleaning the baskets and trash! I mainly came for the body scrub& oil massage (60mins) which offers a hair wash and collagen facial and cleansing milk. Hanna worked on me and she did amazing!!! They basically flip you over on a massage table like a baby seal and scrub every inch of your body, then they massage you with oil. After the body scrub my body was as soft as a baby's butt HAHA. So smooth and the cleansing milk really rejuvenated my skin and made it feel plump. My facial was so relaxing as well and I love when people play/ wash my hair. I went to Yu Spa in San Diego for a bachelorette weekend, and honestly this one just didn't do much for me. We were all pretty new to Korean spas, so part of the issue again was not really knowing the best order to do things. Everyone ended up kind of splitting off, doing their own services, and then meeting back up later. We added on massages, but between that and trying to use the spa, the whole thing just felt kind of disjointed and not very relaxing. Compared to the other Korean spas I've been to, this one also felt a lot smaller and more limited. I remember there only being a few rooms, so it didn't really have that same "hang out here for hours" feel. When we arrived we were checked in given a basket with our uniform, a small towel and big towel along with a number wristband and key. We got a tour and a quick explanation of everything. The common area has a seating lounge with some drinks (water & tea) and quick snacks (fruit, crackers & candies). It's also where you wait for your number to be called for your massage. There's an a cubby area for your shoes and then the women's locker which leads to the showers, hot & cold tub and dry & steam sauna and scrub room. Near the common area are the co-ed salt, clay and ice room. The rooms are relatively small so it would definitely get crowded on busy days. According to the receptionist Fridays and Saturday's are the busiest days. My massage therapist was Chloe. I got a deep tissue oil massage and I asked for medium pressure. Disappointed Before I Even Got to Experience the Spa. I'm visiting from Chicago, I booked a reservation for a wet spa treatment on Wednesday, July 1, about two hours before my scheduled arrival. I spent $61 on a roundtrip Uber, only to arrive and find a note on the door stating that Yu Spa was closed due to a power outage. I understand that unexpected issues like power outages can happen. However, what I do not understand is why the spa would continue allowing customers to book appointments online if the business was temporarily closed. At the very least, customers should have been notified before making the trip. I called today, July 2, because I still wanted to experience the scrub and massage treatment. I explained what happened and asked if I could come in today with some type of accommodation, especially considering the wasted Uber expense and inconvenience. The answer was simply "no." This was very disappointing. Yu Spa advertises birthday discounts, so I would have expected at least some level of consideration, a small courtesy discount, or even an apology that acknowledged the inconvenience. Instead, I was left feeling like the situation did not matter. The treatment may be great, but this was a horrible customer service experience. It cost $50 to have access to the Jimjilbang (meaning the common shared areas that offer a lounge with light snacks, ice room, clay room, and hot room) and also the separated mens/womens section that has the jacuzzi, dry and steam saunas). I would only consider coming here if I were to get one of their services, such as their wet scrubs because then I get free access to the Jimjilbang. I just can't fathom paying $50 for a few hours of being in a Jacuzzi, clay room or the common areas as it is just not worth it. The Jacuzzi isn't always as hot as it should be, the men's section, including showers, sauna, and Jacuzzi's aren't cleaners they should be, their water pressure is low... And overall, it is just not what it used to be when they first opened, but I guess that was quite a few years ago. Not the best Kspa out there, at least compared to the ones in Los Angeles, which has a lot of Kspas. Yu Spa is on the smaller side and not as many rooms in the co-ed area. The bathing area has just one hot tub, a cold pool, a steam sauna and a dry sauna. Most Kspas I've been to have more than one hot tub, so definitely on the smaller side. The steam and sauna rooms were great though. And yes you have to be full on nude in this area. As for the co-ed area, there's a cold room, the salt room and a clay room. None got particularly hot like I'm more accustomed to seeing at other Kspas so I thought it was a bit lacking here as well. This is the area where you must wear the uniform. You're also limited to 3 hours with general admission and there's no cafeteria. But that's probably because it's a bit too small to hang out at all day. They do provide free snacks which is nice. I think it's probably to make up for the lack of a cafeteria. I do prefer this over Wispa because it is less crowded and because of that, it is a bit more peaceful and cleaner. I did feel relaxed by the end of the three hours, but it did feel a tad bit short for a fully relaxing experience. With more amenities and rooms, it would be more enjoyable for sure. I appreciate the atmosphere and cleanliness though! The Riviera in Torrance is a better option if you're in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles and probably the best Kspa I've been to so far. read more

The entry fee is $50, which I think is just not reasonable and actually the highest I have seen for a Korean spa. On the positive side, they did allow me to stay longer than the usual three hours, and I was able to upgrade to a massage without having to pay a separate massage fee on top of entry, which was a nice surprise since I came for my birthday. I'm from LA and in comparison to spas there, I would say Yu Spa is pretty good for San Diego standards. The amenities were clean, the people were friendly, and the crowd was great with a lot of gay men, so it had a welcoming and open vibe. That said, there were things I didn't like. The facility itself is small, much smaller than what I'm used to in LA, and the common area felt cramped. They did have snacks, which I actually loved because when you're doing hydrotherapy you do get hungry, and that left a nice impression since they don't have a restaurant on site. The massage I got was a deep tissue, but it wasn't great. The therapist wasn't consistent, spending longer on one side of my body than the other, and it just didn't feel like what I was looking for. I've had better massages, so I didn't feel right tipping in that situation. I had a couples massage and was pleasantly surprised by how strong the masseuse, Joanna, was. She took her time working out all my knots, which was great. Oh man this place rocks. Came here before New Year's Eve and this was an experience. It was my first time here and the place looks and feels nice. I was treated to a Swedish Massage of which I was marinated in oil, tenderized by an expert while being flipped on both sides in my birthday suit. I was rejuvenated. They got this common area in the middle where you can relax in peace along with some provided snacks and drink. The place is built like a Japanese bathhouse where baths are separated along with their own respective saunas, jacuzzis, showers, and more. What I really loved was the steam sauna in the mens side of the building. I lost track of time because of how immersed I was here. Definitely coming back for more. The only thing I would gripe about is the lack of anti slip mats in the bathside sauna and shower areas to prevent slipping so be careful and the spa's lack of plus size clothing material so if you're in the 4xl or more range then you'll have to bring your own clothes to chill in. read more

I'm very pleased with the cleanliness in the common area and dry spas too. The wet spa has a hot tub. Cold tub. Steam sauna and dry sauna. Absolutely relaxing and you can use any of them. The dry spa is co-gender, they have a salt sauna, a mud sauna, and a cold dry sauna. These areas are super relaxing too!! The common room is big and spacious with the perfect mood lighting, snacks and drinks to enjoy your stay with! The actual appointment was AMAZING. Let me just say it's well worth the money and more. A traditional Korean body scrub was much needed for my skin. I left feeling a brand new layer! The oil and massage was so perfect too. Susan did amazing and I will be going back to her no doubt about it. She did a mini facial and hair treatment too during this appointment. Score!!! Thank you Susan. Do know that if you come here the wet spas do have a dress code that, well, is no clothes. Be prepared if this is something you are not comfortable with. For me I handled it just fine :) no one cares and no one is looking. So don't worry!!!! Common co-gender areas REQUIRE you to wear the spa uniform so do not fear!!! Yu Spa has been my go to Korean spa the past few years. Prices have gone up a bit, which is to be expected with inflation. I am also sad that they took away the free admission on your birthday.
