Came here because I was in a rush and my normal stylist wasn't available. My barber was super nice and asked what I wanted. He did a slightly above average job, but the top and sides were uneven, the crown wasn't shaped well, and the skin fade on the neckline was a little uneven. Frankly, I was expecting him to use a straight razor instead of an electric shaver. I ultimately had to even it out myself when I got home. It might have turned out better if I was looking for a skin fade, which it seems everyone gets here. But I wasn't looking for that and wanted a more sophisticated haircut since I'm not in my 20's. read more

I booked an appointment with Martin because he was recommended by my cousin. Turns out he's my brother's barber as well and have been cutting him for years since his garage days. Small world. Anyways, these guys are really professional. I had never done anything other than a buzzcut before, so I wasn't sure what I really wanted to do with my hair. I talked to Martin a bit and decided to keep growing out my hair for a comb-over. He gave me different options with the fade and what not. At the end, I was completely satisfied. The store is upstairs in a small lot. It is next to a tattoo parlor. The store is well lit and very well kept. They have a floor vacuum for all the hair. It's pretty neat. I've gone to Paradox several times over the years for my son's haircuts and have always left happy. I recently took my 7 year old son to get his hair cut by Brian Ocean. Brian was great and helped us create what we didn't even know we wanted. Haha Brian listened to what we were trying to achieve with Nico's hair and it turned out even better than we could have ever hoped. Haircuts are a little pricey at Paradox in my opinion but also well worth the money. Brian was very personable and tried to make conversation with my little seven year old. Been going to the Midtown location for over 4 years now. Wouldn't change shops for anything. Bryan Ocean has been my barber just about every time. Dude really puts everything into his work. I had him cut off about 8-10 inches yesterday, I went for a completely different look. And he knocked it out of the park. He finishes each cut with a hot towel service, straight razor, and top shelf aftershave. The vibe is always on point in the shop. Paradox is transforming the barbershop game. Right away when you step in, you can tell they are more than just a regular ol' barbershop. They throw events, host barber classes, and even have their own merch. Beyond a barbershop, Paradox is an experience. Aesthetics and ambiance of both locations are on point. Shout out to their interior designer! I've been going to Josh (now at the Midtown location) the past few years ever since he started working there. If you want a barber that takes his time with his craft, Josh is your man. Great conversations and he never rushes even when his next appointments show up early. All around great dude that will give you a quality cut every time you sit in his chair. A hot towel is given at the end of your cut as well which is awesome! And if you're really lucky, Bruno, his adorable dachshund, will sit on your lap and you can pet him while getting cut! After being so disappointed with the way my son's hair always turned out when taking him to...as he called it, "my Asian ladies"...I finally gave in and started reading reviews on local barbers. I quickly found Paradox with great ratings, and it was a block away from home. I made an appointment online for the next available barber, and was lucky enough to get JR. I showed him a picture of what I wanted for my son, and he flawlessly executed it! Seems like he was a natural with kids. From afar, I could hear them conversing. The appointment was for an hour block, but we were out of there in 30min. JR was fast, but very precise. I have been going to paradox for about a year and a half. Before I used to get my haircuts at Supercuts and other random barbers. I hated that I had to constantly explain over and over again how I wanted my hair. I finally asked one of my firends where they get their haircut and they directed me to Paradox. I liked that I had to make reservations for the cut, it shows that they are always busy. I chose Riv and he has been my barber since. The shop is very clean and large. It's a true barber but has a salon feel. What surprised me most was the hot towel treatment. My favorite part of the cut. Riv also gave me styling tips for my hair. I like that I finally found somewhere that feels great to come to and I do not have to worry about my hair being messed up. read more

She asked me some questions about what I wanted to do with my hair/beard and then got to work. She did a good job (not that I'm an incredible judge), but she listened to what I wanted, which is better than other places I have been to. Great haircuts, awful time management. I've showed up for 4 appointments but only gotten 2 haircuts. The first 2 appointments went great. For the 3rd appointment, I waited 30 minutes after the appointment time and then left (ran out of time before needing to get to a meeting). The barber sent me a personal text apologizing and explaining what happened, so I decided to keep with Paradox. For the 4th appointment, my normal barber was unavailable so I picked a new one and then showed up 10 minutes early. Previous customer ran long, so I waited 15 minutes for the seat to open. Just got my hair cut here for the first time and I had a wonderful experience. Kris was my barber. He was very welcoming, attentive, patient, and respectful. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and told him about my occipital bun which he managed to work around and cover up. We discussed my options and went with a long crop top with medium drop fade per his recommendation. Kris took his time and was gentle throughout. In the end, he nailed the cut that I wanted and I left satisfied. As a bonus, I am someone that finds the barbershop experience overwhelming. I absolutely do not like small talk at all and I used to always go to the Asian ladies to cut my hair because they don't talk to me. Kris never tried to force small talk. Man, Marten totally screwed up my hard part right before a wedding. I always get a hard part and my old one was easy to spot and dude straight made a new one an eighth of an inch away. Now I have an old vague one and a new very prominent one with a wisp of hair in between. For $40 with the beard trim (which was exceptional). Didn't notice it while I was there but I won't be back. And to be fair, the rest looks pretty sharp, but messing up a hard part is a deal breaker. 3 stars overall if it wasn't so damn expensive. read more

My boyfriend booked an appointment with jay. They sent him a confirmation about it but then right after; received another text message saying that it has been cancelled/denied. that was strange right? so he emailed them personally and told them how weird it was that this happened all under 5 minutes and they told him that there have been a glitch with their system so to make it up, they re booked my boyfriends appointment with the top barber Jordan. This worked out all so well, because he wanted to get his cut done by Jordan to start with but him being over booked til January was impossible. (the cut happened Sunday after thanksgiving) This was his first time coming in and was expecting the best of the best and when that happened he somewhat didn't want to pull through with re-scheduling a cut from them but they were able to accommodate and booked him to Jordan. Got there, I've never been but the place rang a bell! I've been here before! I remember going to Humble Beginnings tattoo shop back in the day and they happen to be right next to it! I remember this place being a fixer upper and when we walked in, it was like every girls dream of lighting perfection! LAWDDDDD jesus, and they had this big ass body mirror on the wall. i literally held myself down but took a couple photos LOL the lighting was just amazing! and on the other side of the wall was white, and the other side wall art was hand painted. We went on Sunday so they had complimentary beer. I got the Botherhood(IPA) and kev got the Beer pub(tasted like Pale ale or something) That was a plus! their waiting area had high chairs facing the barbers chairs. Playlist was lit. anyways, my boyfriend did a bald fade and a part with Jordan and it was just amazing. He did a good job and i'm so happy that he pulled through and they didn't let their glitch cause them to lose a customer. This was my second time coming here and probably the visit that really solidified my resolve to make this a once a month thing! I made my appointment with Josh Nguyen via the web page, super user friendly and easy to use. This was by far one of the best hair cuts I have ever had. I came in for the scissor cut with a beard trim. He took time to go over what I wanted and what he felt would work with my head. I have a big square head lol! The hot towel beard trim was great and he something I have never had done before: While cutting the air on the back of my neck he used a blow dryer to blow the hair out of my shirt! All the other places I have ever gone to just buzz it and let it all fall down. I been to quite a few barber shops in my day, but this one blew me away! I booked an appointment for 4pm so I came about 10 minutes early. They greeted me when I walked in and in less than a minute, I realized these barbers were something special. These guys pay close attention to every detail. My barber's name was Martin Cortez and he was phenomenal! I kinda had a vision on what I wanted my hair to look like, but couldn't really explain it. He was able to analyze my hair in a few minutes and knew what to do from there. At the end, it was better than I imagined. I was very happy with my hair. He then laid the chair back and placed a hot towel on my face. I never had that done to me before and honestly was confused why he was doing it. Afterwards, I realized it was to prepare the use of a straight razor. Once everything was done, Martin helped style my hair and gave very helpful tips and educated me on the use of a brush and blow drier. I'm really excited about my new cut.
