They cut all types of hair. I'll be honest, I was looking for a place that was able to cut my kinf of people's hair and I found the right place after previous bad experiences (not going to say any names of barbershops). The barbers are great company and made me feel like I've been coming to this barbershop for quite some time, but it was only my first time. Barbershops in the Bay Area seem to be priced pretty high compared to what I'm used to (almost double of what I'm used to paying) but with this price you're paying for a quality cut that you feel good about. By far the best barbershop in the Bay Area. From the atmosphere, decor, customer service, organization, and precision. These talented barbers can do whatever you ask for and more! I always go to Don. Sometimes I want to switch it up and every time he does something different he always executes. However, the other barbers are also talented. For my last trip I booked a double appointment, one for me and one for my nephew for the same exact time since we were on a tight time schedule. I booked mine with Don and my nephew with Riv. My nephew loved his haircut and said all the kids in his class complimented his hair. Riv did an awesome job handling my 7 year old nephew. These barbers can definitely handle kids and turn them into lil' gentleman. At the end of our appointment we both got our own pomade to try out as well. They usually suggest good pomades depending on your hair texture and what style you are going for, but they do test it out on you when they finish cutting your hair so that it helps you decide. Made a same-day appointment with Jordan through their website. Rushed all the way from Palo alto in traffic and took me about 40 minutes to get to the barbershop. Was running about five minutes late and called to let them know. I arrived and was told that my barber was still with a client it was pointed to the seating area. I waited and waited and waited and after 45 minutes I had to leave. Felt like an incredible waste of time. No one even came over to apologize for the long wait or even acknowledge what was going on. Not OK. Not how you treat new customers. Clearly he was overbooked or something and didn't care enough to come by and let me know or call and cancel the appointment before I drove all the way over. I don't know what else to think other than majorly arrogant. I'm sure the haircuts are great for all the great reviews and pictures but service is much to be desired. I scored an appointment with Martin just one day in advance. Martin and everyone else in the shop seemed friendly and without pretense. Since it was Martin's first time cutting my hair he asked a lot of questions, paid close attention to detail, and made sure to be conservative in taking length off so that we had some wiggle room if it wasn't just right. He definitely knew what he was doing, and I left with a cut I'm super happy with. I'll definitely be back. I've been getting my haircut from Jay L. for over a year now, and when I heard he was gonna be cutting somewhere else, I had to go with. It's hard to find a barber to trust if you are particular with your hair, but Jay gotch you. I've been getting a lot of oohs and ahhs after a fresh cut, and the ladies love it. He's a real professional and perfectionist at what he does. He takes his time and doesn't rush through his cuts. He's very thorough and his cuts are on point. Paradox is a real nice shop. Everything's white and the lighting is phenomenal for your cut. I've seen most of the barbers from Legends and know they all cut great. After going to four different places in the area I think my search for a barber is over. Scheduling an appointment online was very easy (you do need to put down your credit card so be sure to reschedule / cancel with enough notice if you can't make it) I went with the first available barber and I ended up with Riv as my barber. You can book either a 30 minute session if you're only getting a cut with clippers, or a full hour if you need more precision work. This model makes so much sense and I'm surprised I have not seen it before The shop is very professional and the vibe is pretty relaxed. These guys know what they're doing and they take their time to make sure the execution is flawless Scheduling is very convenient and some of the guys are available Sunday and late Wednesday (they take appointments as late as 8PM). read more

I'm relatively new to the neighborhood, and I booked an appointment at Paradox. I showed up for my appointment, and when I arrived the place seemed to have a good atmosphere, and I was seated with minimal wait. That's why this review isn't a 1 star. The haircut itself my awful. My appointment was with JJ. I've been growing my hair out, so I wasn't sure what I wanted. Instead of offering any advice, he seemed interested in getting me out of the chair as fast as possible. He went around the edges with the clippers, and didn't even touch the top of my head. When I got home, I noticed there were spots that were uneven, like he'd just missed running the clippers over them. For the 20 minutes in the chair, I was charged $35. Their card reader was broken, but luckily I had cash. The website claims the $35 cut should take an hour and comes with "a complimentary hot towel, shampoo, and blow-dry styling". I received the hot towel at the end, but not the shampoo or styling. For the price I paid, I expected both a better cut, and better service. read more

I had an appointment with Bryan at a shop he was working at, but due to difficulties he had to let me know he was going to be at paradox and could cut my hair there this morning instead of at the other shop. Bryan was very quick at responding and was super chill and immediately knew what I wanted done with my hair after a I showed him a few pictures. He recommended a product i've been wanting to try out for a while and even used it on my hair so I could see if I liked it before purchasing. The shop was a little hard to spot at first but parking wasn't an issue once we found it. The vibe inside wasn't as welcoming as it could be as I definitely felt like an outsider, but it wasn't the worst either. Was referred to Don by a friend of mine and was very happy with how my hair cut turned out. Don is laid back, easy to talk to, and most importantly a great barber. I have been hesitant to try a new barber since moving to the South Bay. After seeing the same barber back home for almost six years, it's hard for most barbers to replicate his fading and styling techniques. Ok this is going to be a two part review. A) The atmosphere at Paradox is exactly what I look for in a barbershop. The shop is clean, very aesthetically pleasing, and makes for an overall relaxing & welcoming vibe. There was barely any wait as I had set up an appointment a couple days previous. My barber, JJ, was very accommodating and made sure that we were on the same page as far as knowing what kind of haircut I wanted. I feel that putting in that extra effort into communicating effectively with your patron is one of the most important qualities a barber can have and with JJ, I absolutely felt that I was being listened to. Too many times do I come into a barbershop telling them specifically what I want only to walk out of the shop looking "headass" as some may say. This leads me to the second part of the review. B) Coming into Paradox, my hair was a mess. After months of going to a sub-par barber and getting what was essentially the "Supercuts" treatment of 10 minutes in the chair and an uneven fade, I decided to splurge and treat myself to a quality haircut. I asked JJ for a medium skin fade and a suave, Dapper Dan look on top. I should probably mention that I also have a very fucked up hairline so it was definitely no easy feat making my hair look not only great, but exactly how I had wanted. It had been so long since I had gone to a real barber that I had almost forgotten how amazing a great haircut can make you feel. I felt like a new man and I couldn't have been any more satisfied with the result. All things considered, I gotta give a big shoutout to JJ and the rest of the Paradox barbershop crew, you guys definitely earned yourselves my business and I will be dropping by for all of my haircut needs from now on. read more

I have gotten cut by several barbers at this location, and they have all delivered excellent customer service and a haircut that has made me feel more confident. I have been getting cut by JJ for almost 3 years now and he delivers every single time. Despite only coming into the shop maybe once every two months, I know I can ask JJ for any style cut, and he will always exceed my expectations. All the guys here are experienced got real talent when to cutting hair; they do any cut you want and for sure you'll be walking out extra sharp and feeling fresh! The shop itself is brand new (right next to Humble Beginnings Tattoo) but is a real clean and the most organized work space I have seen in a Barbershop. They also have a really nice waiting area with tables and chairs while you wait. The operations here are really smooth with the online appointment system which allows you get text reminders of your upcoming cut. The front desk answers the phone really promptly as well! Set up an appointment for my birthday haircut with Don Gomez and couldn't have left more satisfied with the process and end result. After the haircut I received a complimentary wash with shampoo then blow dry with styling. Don then provided me with pointers on how to keep my hair looking just as sharp as it does now even after today. They take cash and debit/credit card payments but tips are cash only. Made an appointment really easy in their website. First I was going to have a Gentleman's Full Service Cut + Shave. Don just nailed it. Did a great job with my hair, which i barely have and instead of having a full shave I decided only to trim which he did great too. He doesn't have a yelp himself so I'm writing it for him. :) He use to always go to supercuts for cheap cuts and I had told him to try some place new since he was never fully satisfied with it. Ever since then he has never looked back. I have never been in shop yet, but he always tells me how nice it is and he usually comes home with their nice merch as well. He's the type to chat so he loves that every time he comes in he always has a good conversation with him while getting his cut. And his work definitely never disappoints! This is the best barber shop in the Bay Area when it comes to quality and professionalism. The store has a very clean, modern look and is equipped with a nice waiting area and a large HD projector while you're waiting to get cut or while you get cut. My favorite barber is Bryan. He is very professional in all aspects of being a barber. Every cut I've got from him as been exquisite. You can tell he treats every client with the same amount of focus and makes sure you leave his chair satisfied. My favorite part of the cut is not only the result but the HOT TOWEL. I've never been given a hot towel while I get cut but I will let you know it is a game changer. I commute 30 minutes to get cut here because I know my money will be put to good use.
