Ay, yoooo. That Lentil soup was Fire. Didn't even order it. XD Ordered the $60 for 4 ppl... Let's see how this goes... Ill be back to tell you guys.

The worst kabob ever. Ordered a chicken breast kabob. The meat wasn't seasoned. Bare chicken. The meat was boiled prior to grilling to save time. Took all the flavor away. The meat was tough and dry. Bec. It was made with frozen chicken instead of fresh chicken. Lol. Cucumber & Tomato salad should be called just Cucumber salad. No Tomatos. Cheap owner. The owner charges $1. Service charge when paying with a credit card. The lunch was $12+$1. Service charge. +$1.20 tax. =$14.20 for a simple lunch!!!! Go elsewhere. I have no idea how this place stays in business.

Walk in and the guy is eating takes my order while chewing and talking with his mouth full, just gross. Bought a salmon kabob plate for 20.00. It's 98 degrees today. I asked for a cup of ice 3 times. Got a warm cup with melted ice. Someone needs to revamp this place. Higher someone who is more responsive. I didn't like the food.

    Chicken and beef kebob

On Wednesday, the chicken and beef kebob special is a $1.50 off. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/paraiso-kebab-van-nuys?select=r5LZS45Z8VSAFDmDGp7GHw#r5LZS45Z8VSAFDmDGp7GHw) I'm not a frequent eater of this type of food but this dish wasn't complex and was still tasty. Ground beef and ground chicken on a stick with some white rice.....can't get any simpler than that! They also have Jarritos Mandarin Orange soda chillin' in the fridge, and I can never pass that up when I see it. One old man runs the show here and I love seeing mom & pop shops sticking to their roots. You might have to ring the cashier bell to get service though.

Everything tasted like it had more butter or oil than necessary, and by the end of the meal I felt weighed down. Persian food is often rich, but this crossed the line into feeling overly greasy, which took away from the quality of the ingredients. The zereshk polo and kebab both would have benefited from a lighter touch. The fresh naan was excellent, and I can understand why this place has a loyal following. It's also a good value considering the portion sizes, especially in Los Angeles. Overall, I can see why many people enjoy International Market Grill, but it wasn't quite for me. If you like very rich, hearty Persian food, you'll probably leave satisfied. I personally prefer a cleaner, less heavy preparation. So while I'm glad I tried it, I'm not sure I'd order from here again.

Going to this restaurant is like being welcomed into a family member's home with open arms and a genuine smile (and for some a hug) when you've arrived unexpectedly. Today I was there because I was picking up food to take to a family member who's recovering from a heart attack. He and his wife live in El Monte. Carnival has NEVER disappoints, and today was no exception. I ordered chicken shawarma sandwiches, tabbouleh, hummus and fries, I couldn't resist. The takeout packaging was packaged so well that it traveled beautifully from Sherman Oaks to El Monte. The food was wonderfully warm when I arrived. Both of my relatives praised the deliciousness the food. The sandwiches are so big and generously filled that we cut them in half. They have enough food leftover for dinner or to share should someone drop in.

The shawarma plate also comes with a delicious lentil soup that perfectly starts the meal. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and consistently delicious. The service has always been friendly, and one of my favorite things about this restaurant is the people it brings together. During a weekday lunch, you'll hear English, Arabic, Armenian, and Hebrew all being spoken in the same dining room. It's a reminder that good food has a way of bringing people from all walks of life together. I wish the world mirrored this environment. The only thing I miss is the original décor. Before the remodel, the walls were decorated with beautiful photographs of Lebanon that gave the restaurant so much character. The updated space is clean, but it feels a little plain in comparison. If you're visiting on a weekend, expect a wait because this place is popular. Be sure to save room for the homemade baklava. I also appreciate that they're one of the few restaurants in Los Angeles that serves Coke Zero. This is one of those places I keep coming back to, and for good reason.

The bakery and restaurant share the same parking lot as Trader Joe's and I had no issue finding an available parking spot on Saturday afternoon. [Atmosphere & service]: There is a mural with two people baking saj bread and there are about half a dozen tables for in-person dining. I placed an in-person order and unfortunately the service was very slow. I eventually got my order after waiting close to 15 minutes despite the lack of customers. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are Chicken Shawarma, Beef Shawarma, and Spinach Pie. They also have a display case of various baked items. Other items they sell here include Mediterranean specialty pizzas, plates (e.g. lamb gyro), Mediterranean breakfast, and flatbreads. *** Beef Shawarma Wrap (Beef, spread of hummus, fresh tomatoes, onions, and tahini sauce rolled and pressed to a crunchy toast - $18.00): The order came with two wraps. The filling was gooey and messy, but it had a very distinct flavor profile. Not too bad at all. Mini Spinach Pie (Raw spinach mixed with diced onion and sumac herb - 1 piece $2.00): It was not my cup of tea as it tasted very sour. *** A solid 3.5-star for the wrap, but bumped down due to inefficient service.

GG will call you sir or ma'am when you come in the door, and if you ask him very nicely he will tell you that he is Armenian, and that he started this place after being unable to control the quality of the result at a pizza chain. If you pay further attention to him, and read the menu carefully, and you scan past all the American style pizza, you will see that there are a few Armenian dishes down at the bottom of the menu. Now here's where you do yourself a solid. You order yourself the traditional Armenian mkhlu, and a Georgian temouri. Yes I know you can't pronounce these, but GG is polite and will not correct you. The mkhlu is a delicately spiced tomato omelet from his homeland, with lots of cilantro and paprika and delicate spices; and the tamouri is a very thin pizza with meat and cheese, again with incredible delicate spicing. There are certainly more expensive restaurants in LA, but I'm telling you from the bottom of my Yelp Elite status, that GG's tiny, clean little hole in the wall, is the best restaurant in Los Angeles right now.
