From the time I spoke with the owner, Jean, over the telephone I knew it would be a good fit. We met up a day later and her warm personality was refreshing. The even told me "I would love to take care of your Mom" and she did an exemplary job of it. This place is such a warm friendly atmosphere there. They really did treat my mother like family, she was 99 years old, so they called her "Momma". I did look up reviews about the facility and everything I read in the previous reviews matched what I experienced. The staff take special care with all the residents. That is hard to find in this industry. So I felt blessed to have been able to find Twilight Haven Assisted Living - Mesa. The medical faculty, staff and residents were so sweet, caring and showed so much compassion, and the facility was kept so clean. If you are considering a "good place for a loved one".....Well you will find it here! It was nothing short of a miracle to actually find them. My Mother is no longer with us but I am so glad her last place of residence was here among her other found family. Thank you again Jean and your staff for doing such a phenomenal job taking good care of Mom. You are still family to me and I will never forget how much love you all showed Mom. May you have continued success in your wonderful business of caring for others.

In 2022 I stopped in to Broadway Mesa Village, completely overwhelmed knowing my mom could no longer live independently especially since her entire family lives out of state. The director and sales manager at that time had been there many years and were welcoming and helpful. I was thrilled to move my mom! She needed a low level of assistance which included stand-by during twice a week bathing and some re-direction but that was all. About a month after she moved in, it was announced the director, sales manager and long-time chef were leaving. Over the next almost 2-years, there was a revolving door of directors, interim directors, or corporate staff filling in and nursing staff changes, before the current director. I visited every 3 months and always had a sit-down with them to share my thoughts and concerns, except I could not get a meeting with the current one even after I decided to move her out of the facility. I felt that would have been the most important meeting. So, back to her level of care. No meds, no special needs, just stand-by for bathing and housekeeping. Never once when I visited or any family visiting did anyone come for her shower time. When I asked, I was told my mom would send them away. OK. I get that. But she was never clean when I visited and she had several (at least 4 in 2 years) UTIs that sent her to the ER. Each time her mental state declined. Earlier this year it was decided her care level would need be increased from Level 2 to Level 4. This should include showering assistance (not stand-by) and distribution of her 2 prescriptions at $1900 added to what were were already paying. Now, I still NEVER saw anyone come to help with bathing or dressing. Her hygiene was unacceptable. I always made it clear that I lived far away and mom may need help with simple tasks like keeping her phone charged but often her phone would be dead and I'd have to call the front desk to make sure they'd seen her that day and ask if someone could charge her phone. Now to housekeeping...her apartment was also dirty! Every time I visited, after getting mom clean, I'd clean her room. Dishes were always piled high in her sink. It smelled. The floor was dirty needing both sweeping and mopping. Her refrigerator was full of rotting leftovers she'd bring back from the dining room. Once, when her mental state was not good (and shortly after was diagnosed with another UTI), I found over 20 cups and glasses from the dining room in her apartment (in her cupboards, sink, drain, side table, and bathroom). When I returned them to the kitchen, they were shocked. I was too. Why wouldn't housekeeping take them back? Oh, and the roaches. First a dead one. Hmmm. Concerning. Then next visit a couple of live ones. Maintenance came out to spray immediately once I reported it. Upon move out, under the mat in her shower, a bunch of little baby roaches scurried out of the light and I scurried out of the room! Lastly, when I decided it was time to move her closer to me and gave the 30-day notice at Broadway Mesa Village, it was very hard to get any answers as to how to get her medicine before we left. I also needed assistance getting my mom on a call with a nurse in the state where she was moving for an assessment. Seems like it would be a pretty standard request from one assisted living facility to another, but I was told by the director (through the new person working in the business office, yeah she didn't take the call) that no one could take the time to help my mom access a video phone call for 10 minutes. She lived in an assisted living facility with very little, almost no assistance. Luckily for me, there were 2 people that had worked there the entire length of my mom's residency there that definitely made both of our lives better! One helped my mom with that needed video assessment on her own time and the other mailed my mom's meds that weren't available to me on her move out date! Angels! There are definitely amazing people there and I give them a lot of credit dealing with my mom and helping me from afar and I'm forever grateful to them. But the ownership and management and how this facility is run day-to-day is very concerning. If you plan to move a loved one here, you need to be a strong advocate for them, monitor their care, and visit often! Thank you for your time if you've gotten to the end of this long review.

Getting in and out of the unit took sometimes as long as 10 minutes or more. On a Saturday we observed the only staff member available to open the door was the same only staff member serving lunch to the zombies they have for patients. Upon entering the lunchroom there were children's cartoons playing on TV, green looking hot dogs with some type of sauce that looked like it came out of a bathroom, and my mother could barely speak to us, as her voice was hoarse, her hair was filthy and matted to the back of her head, mismatched dirty clothes, and when I tracked down the same nurse I had met 3 days earlier who was handling the same vials that were later given to me as "haloperidol", she did not know who I was, rudely stated her name, and shrugged me off when I said I was taking my mother out of the lunch room immediately. My father who would visit my mother from independent living (we also removed him and all his belongings 3 days later when we learned the entire apartment was infested with various types of roaches when we visited after movers brought his items in 3 days earlier) would try and help her eat and take her back to her room and would be told he could not take her out for sometimes as much as two hours while the other zombie residents (by all appearances every resident had been given some type of sedative, my mothers was Halperidol, I learned later when I pulled her meds upon taking her out of the facility. NEVER SANCTIONED IN FACT TOLD HER HOSPICE NURSE NOT TO GIVE THIS TO HER EVER AGAIN PRIOR TO ENTRY INTO FACILITY as side effects are " potent antipsychotic medication with common side effects including sedation, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and blurred vision. It carries a high risk of extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS)--such as tremors, muscle stiffness, and involuntary movements--as well as potential for serious conditions like tardive dyskinesia, QT prolongation, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS)." When I told the staff I was taking her out for at least the weekend (only way to get her out of there quickly was to state she was coming to visit with me at my home) I was given an entire bag of 30 or more doses of this Halperidol drug she was NOT PRESCRIBED prior to admission by the 'nurse on duty' to bring home with me. WHAT? My father observed patients with involuntary movements throughout the 3 days she was there and again, my mother could barely speak or raise her voice above a whisper and reported "voices in her head" and clicking, roaring, and thumping in her ear. AFTER 3 DAYS. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS FACILITY OR ANYWHERE NEAR ANY PART OF THE PROPERTY FOR ANY REASON.
