Sad to write this review but went here three times thinking maybe the 1st and 2nd time was bad luck but after my third visit- hoping the food would be better I quickly realized the food is simple bad quality. Im Colombian myself and was happy to have a bakery near by but sadly the food is poorly cooked and seasoned. The meat empanadas have 1% meat and 99% potatoes, the plates are bland with no flavor. Used to be much better, a go-to breakfast place. Last year or so, not so much. Arepas de chocolo were bigger in the past, and more flavorful. They've now downsized, and are bitter most of the time. Other Items that are supposed to be hot have been served ice-cold recently... even though they're often also burnt. Prices through the roof. Service slow and not very friendly. Came in here with my boyfriend to warm up from the cold. I had a cafe - light and sweet that paired nicely with my pan de yuca. I will say the woman at the counter initially forgot my pan but I was good natured about it and eventually got to eat a huge piece of tasty bread. My boyfriend had a ham and cheese croissant and he seemed to enjoy it. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but we enjoyed it and the inside is cute with humorous signage. read more

Worst customer service ever & the 2 females working kept repeating they're closing when they had 15 mins more until closing. We heard you & we were in there for some tea, water & was Interested in their baked goods but the lack of customer service drove us out the door. Oxtail was fall of the bone fatty and yummy with just a bit of tomatoes and peppers melded into the slow cooker. Chicken was crisp and juicy. Beans and lentil slurry not my thing but yellow rice is. The lechon was a bit dry and hard but whomever complains about fried pork belly shall be banished! But the almojabana or cheese ball/bread- wowzers. You win some, you lose some. Went in for pastries, got flan and a couple other sweets. Got home and the flan was not great, seemed scorched. The other 2 pastries I bought: one was nothing to write home about, the other was NOT what I ordered. She gave me a lame apple turnover that was 90% dough. Kevin James (the King Of Queens) was supposed to deliver me a package. It never showed. He said that I should go here to find it. After spending almost an hour arguing in broken Spanish (mine) and amusing Spanglish (theirs) about why they did not have my parcel, I realized that I was at the wrong place. But before I left, I grabbed some food here (partly as an apology to the owner for taking up so much of his time looking for my Swedish P*nis Pump Package) (oh wait, I'm sorry, I meant my antique trading cards that I bought on E-Bay). Anyway, I was absolutely shocked at how utterly delicious this food is. Talk about a diamond in the rough! You must get down here, and you must try it. What to get: Guava Pastry, and the Chorizo w/ Green Salsa and a Salt Potato What else: The Almojabana is okay but the aforementioned items changed my life What is a chorizo: Well, I have something similar I can show you, for the sake of comparisons... (pulls down pants)... I like that there is a lot of counter space between stools. Plenty of elbow room. Plenty of space to park your elbows, as they say. No wonder it's called "Parkelbows Bakery." This is an absolutely amazing Colombian bakery in the heart of residential Queens, in an area which isn't known for its restaurants and is much less-frequented than nearby Jackson Heights, or Astoria or Flushing for that matter. But it is so well worth the trip down to Rego Park to sample this gem, because it is some of the best and most authentic Colombian food you'll ever try. In fact, I am so in love with it, that I've saved this review as one of my "final 10 NYC reviews" before I take a Yelp hiatus. If your tastes are anything like mine, Parceros might change your life. And if not, then at least change your shirt. No I mean, please, change your shirt. You're smelling a little ripe. It's summer, it's humid. Nobody's judging. Just please. Take care of it. Thx. Sadly there's not a lot of money laundering going on here. It's not a front for any drugs or anything illicit as far as I can tell. I looked for evidence against them (so I could include this damning info in this review) and anything I found was unconvincing. The "illegal escrow accounts" that the Queens Bee reported were a farce. Which is why they renamed the place "Farce Escrows Bakery." Seriously though, get the chorizo. It's utterly incredible. One of the best sausages I've ever put in my mouth. Forget the fact that an enormous spicy hunk of chorizo meat that will fill your throat up completely and make you feel bloated on the inside, is under $5. Forget the fact that it comes with huge round salty steaming hot sinful... potatoes. Salt potatoes, no less. Just the taste alone makes this one of my fave things to eat in town. I've had a lot of chorizos in my day and put a lot of sausages in my mouth and this is one of the very best I've ever had. I didn't think I'd like the salt potatoes and I was right. I didn't like them. I *loved* them. Wow. I've had good moments wearing Russian clothes, and very bad moments. The highs outweigh the lows. Whereas the lows are usually associated with Parkas. And I wore a Parka on my first trip here. And I hate to admit it, but it was one of those "Parka-lows." And as for the Guava Pastry, well I love Guava anyway, but this little thing is one of the best treats I've ever had. I tried some Brazilian and Argentinian baked goods on the same day, and they didn't compare to this little snack from heaven. So utterly perfect. Crumbly and flaky, but gooey and Guava-y within. Perfectly browned outside, perfectly pink inside, just the way I like it. Ahem. There aren't a lot of cellos in the Rego Park Philharmonic Orchestra. Which is how this bakery got its name. "Sparce-cellos Bakery." So you positively must try their chorizo with salt potato, and you absolutely need a Guava pastry. Parceros. The best Colombian bakery I've been to. My fave bakery of any kind in NYC, and perhaps in USA. Get here. Try it. Fall in love like I did. If you don't, I'll make out with you, to make it up to you. If you do, well, I'll make out with you, to celebrate. Sounds like a plan. And I promise that after we make out, I won't stop until you, well, you know, get there. I've been ordering food from here since i moved to my apartment in Elmhurst. What makes the whole experience worse is the lady that i was talking to on the phone had the nerve to call me ignorant that the pork falls apart when it's cooked. Probably the worst Colombian food I've ever had. The calentado is so soggy feels like mush. The chicharron was so hard to chew felt like it was just reheated from the day or days before. The steak had no flavor whatsoever tasted like it was seasoned with water. The hot sauce came out like water I had to open the bottle and when i actually tasted it it tasted like water as well. The coffee was just milk with a splash of coffee. The only thing that was ok was the service and not even something to brag about. I was really ecstatic about trying this place. But the delivery fell flat. I ordered the paisa platter. First thing that hit me right away was the fact that they call it half an order or "mini" for the paisa platter. But they charge you full price for what's suppose to be half a meal? That I didn't understand. You go up 20 blocks to the ricuras Del rey bakery and for thirty cents more you get a real platter. So with that said, you don't get as much food as you would accustomed in bandeja type dishes that you normally get elsewhere. No salad, and mostly rice with side of beans is what it boils down to. Taste was good but not to rave about. I also got a horrible stomach ache after eating this lovely meal. Which not only enticed me more to start on my review. So here I type with an upset stomach. Still not in believe on this great let down. Second kicker, also ordered la trensa de queso. I pulled at it on the way home. Bread didn't feel soft. I don't ever recall going to any Colombian bakery and their bread tasting stale. That should have been a clue of what was to be expected. Being of Spanish ethnicity I know how to make beans. The beans from this place were tasty. But I have never had several heaping spoon full of fat flab and skin included in my beans. We do throw pork or sausage for flavor. But here there was the fatty mass of some sort of meats and it was left in there. So once the happy customer was chewing down on the beans, you get a healthy serving of fatty remnants to go with. Gross. This happened 3 times, as I tried to enjoy my dish. How about the cook removes the fat after the beans are done cooking.??? After all they are out there for flavor, no? Your customers don't need to eat that too. That would really help things out. I still have beef empanadas and tres leches in my fridge. But being that my stomach is still killing me. I don't think I will be trying them. Just too scared at this point. I will stick to Ricuras Del Rey for fresh Colombian baked goods and dishes. Greeted with a warm and sincere "good morning" in Spanish, I managed a reply in kind. Only having a moment to stop in, I quickly glanced at the display of the fine baked goods. Although I do not know each pastry by name, I've seen the circular tan muffins, butterfly shaped dessert with the egg washed glistening tops and much more, before. The chicken and beef empanadas were close to one and a half the size of the empanadas I drive to Jamaica Avenue for. The meats inside have a lightly seasoned taste, the outer crust was crisp. Once bitten into a mild stream of steam was omitted, another plus that I'd not seen with the Jamaica Ave empanadas. A generous side of verde hot sauce set my morning on the right track. Parceros is AMAZING. It's a truly authentic Columbian bakery, with the best baked goods made fresh in house. The MUST TRY is the almojabana, a cheesy bread. I have never been as happy eating a bread roll as I have eating these...the inside is soft and fluffy and SO moist. A very different experience compared to buttery breads, you have try this. The arepa de chocolo is sorta like a cornbread-like tortilla. The sweet corn flavor is really good. I really liked the chorizo, especially with the green salsa (although I think it could be spicier). I don't know the name of the guava pastry I tried, but you should satisfy your sweet tooth with this. Similar to the one from Porto's bakery in Los Angeles, this pastry is filled with a really tasty and moist guava filling. There's a nice TV on the back wall playing futbol :D and seating along the side. Oh! And try some typical Columbian sodas and drinks from the back fridge. We found street parking without a problem. Good Colombian bakery in the neighborhood. The interior is very clean and modern. The staff here are very nice and patient with me. I got the guava and cheese pastry (panoleta), which was open faced. Without a napkin, it could be sticky on the outside. The crust of the pastry was good, but the proportion of guava and cream cheese was off. In some spots, there was a higher ratio of guava to cheese, but for most of the pastry, there was more cheese overpowering the sweet guava. Yum yum yum. I'm a sucker for Colombian food, especially bakeries and their chicharrones! This place is right off Woodhaven, believe it or not parking has never been an issue as there is plenty of residential spots behind the restaurant. The inside is basic in design but clean and full of goodies. The workers are the best. Always sweet and polite. The sweets selections are plenty and fresh. I have came here multiple times and I've never been disappointed. They got all your typical pastries, from pan de jamon y queso to almojabanas. I usually stock up with 15 bucks worth of parties and that is usually like 10-12 pieces. Prices are awesome in comparison to ratio portion. I've recently ate breakfast here...mini paisa ( bandejas paisa is Colombia's national dish-meat feast). And for 13 bucks I was beyond full with the Mini Paisa (#10 on the menu). I also recommend the coffee-it is so simple but delicious. I take my coffee on the sweeter side so I usually get two sugars. Overall? I could go on about my love for the food here and the great service but the best part....they take credit card! A rarity in NYC bakeries. I will definitely comeback without a doubt. read more

Sunday of labor day weekend I was driving back from rockaway beach with a friend and we were originally going to grab a slice, but then I remembered I had bookmarked this place! Mmm heard all about the empanadas so we went. The place itself is very clean and staff was super friendly. Yes, they have a bathroom in the basement once you go down a steep fight of stairs. Not ideal for granny to use.lol. We ordered relleno de papa and a chicken empanada. I will say I understand this is Colombian. I am half Puerto Rican & Colombian so am aware there will be differences in food, however when it comes to these particular foods I will say I like the Puerto Rican/Domincan versions better. Relleno de Papa (potato filled ball that is battered and fried) legit had a few shreds of beef throughout the filling and the filling was potato AND rice! Carb overload much? The chicken empanada was delicious and the hot sauce was effin' awesome! We didn't eat the whole relleno de papa cause it was way too heavy so we got the beef empanada. Once again there was barely any meat (nothing like the picture another person posted). It was actually seasoned nicely but mamma needs her meat! I would like to try the pastries everyone mentioned and might try an empanada again. Maybe it was an off day? So I'll update the review when I go back. read more
