This time, we also got a couple of their lunch specials. The pork chop meal came with 1 pc, rice and beans. The pernil was fatty, oily which got the moro rice oily as well. No complaints about the flavors, though I think a little salad/side added would have been better. I did order maduros - wasn't packed into the bag; realized when I was home so had to return for them; plantains weren't ripe enough so not as soft or sweet as we like. read more

I walked in and felt ignored, but it was due to the fact that there's only one employee doing everything. I wasn't really acknowledged either, which didn't feel great. If you want your customer to know that they will be next to be seated, come by and say, I'll be right with you. Anyway, I've been to other restaurants that have one worker and that person was really good and being only one person at the place didn't stop her from going above and beyond. This person wasn't super woman. She's more like inefficient or ineffective. Enough about the service. Regarding the food, it was alright. But the price of the food was a bit too much. This isn't the city or some fancy restaurant. I got the pernil, and it was a bit dry. My friend got this seafood dish, and that in itself was around $30, but so tasteless. The portion size was good. My friend treated me to dinner for my birthday.I've always tried this place. It was a small but nicely decorated. The air conditioner was a little cold so maybe bring a sweater. The lady seated us right away. We ordered the Tu Casa Combo (it comes with a side of fried yuca and salad) and a shrimp ceviche. The food came out together. The shrimp was snappy and had a nice citrus flavor. There was some toasted corn that was fragrant. The fried yuca was real yuca and not mashed. The chicken was very good; seasoned well and tender. It was a little dry but the green sauce gave it the moisture it needed. I bought home leftovers which my husband ate and he was impressed by the chicken. Small but nice place right on Queens Blvd. There are probably only a dozen or so tables in the restaurant. It's open for lunch as well as dinner. After moving to the forest hills area I was pleasantly surprised to find one in my area that actually delivered to me. I always get the half chicken and the chicken chuafa. I ordered a lomo saltado on uber eats seeking comfort warmth and a traditional taste of Peru. A dish so simple but so sacred it can bring peace to warring nations. When the food arrived so did the horror. WHITE ONIONS instead of red onions. Maybe my eyes weakened by the exhausting of waiting on the uber, but no there they were, pale and lifeless white onions haunting my plate. The betrayal seeped within my bones. The cooks decision to replace red onions with white obliterated the soul of the dish. One star and that's only because I didn't die on the spot. read more

We order from to Casa pretty regularly. Tonight, they made a mistake and we called them as soon as the food arrived. The woman I spoke with was rude and dismissive. She told me that for them to redeliver the missing items I would need to spend a minimum of $10. This was after spending $60 on Grubhub for the order. I spoke with Grubhub and had most of the meal credited. Clearly, I will not be ordering from Tu Casa anymore. Given the COVID situation, many local businesses have temporarily or permanently closed. As a New Yorker, I want to do my part and support local businesses by ordering take out once a week. Hopefully, this will all be behind us soon.  I found a small local Peruvian store called Tu Casa in Forest Hills and decided to give it a try. I ordered a Tu Casa Combo (whole chicken with salad and side of tostones), Lomo Saltado (steak, fries, and onions), and Pernil con arroz. When I got my order all packaged and sealed up, I opened it at home only to realize that they didn't give me the peril con arroz so I had to go back and get a replacement-the chuleta a la parilla  (grilled pork chop with rice and beans).  Food: The chicken was decent but the pork chop was tender. With the combination of the side salad, rice and beans, it definitely tasted like authentic home cooking. The steak was a little dried when I ate it, but the flavor was there. One thing that could be better (or maybe I just got a bad batch) was the green garlic sauce. While the "sauce" was garlicy, it was very watery instead of saucy. Maybe this is the way its made but I wish it was thicker, like a sauce. Otherwise, the food was tasty and filling, had to save the rest for tomorrow (the three order was for two people FYI) Experience: Initially, I wasn't very happy that when I got home I was missing the pernil con arroz. I tried to call them to ask, but the restaurant number was disconnected. I had to go back quickly because I didn't know when they closed (it was getting close to 8:30 pm). When I got there, I had to explain the situation to them. After some time, they realize that they were at fault because the kitchen didn't notify them that they ran out of pernil, therefore, they didn't pack it in my order. They quickly replaced my order with something else and gave me sangria and a can of soda on the house for my troubles. As I waited for the food, I saw the workers wearing masks and gloves, and thoroughly sanitize the counter surface. In the end, I was content in their service and I would definitely give them my business again.  FYI- Restaurant is open now during the city shutdown, but they stop taking orders around 9 pm to clean the kitchen as I was told (I asked since I was curious how come their phone didn't work when I called). read more

I came here to dine in after having a great take out experience. Celebrated my mom's birthday and we all had a great time. They are stroller-friendly, granted that you come at an earlier time to select your table. Soon after, the restaurant was packed! We couldn't believe that one waiter, I think his name is Carlos, was handling the entire restaurant. The woman at the take out desk helped as well. Operated like a smooth, well-oiled machine. Never once panicking, running and not a hair out of place as it got chaotic. Truly amazed and was so inspired that I want to apply this example to real life. Take things easy but in order, things will eventually get done. The food was delicious as ever. Came at a good pace considering there was a MASSIVE amount of take out orders and a full house. All the dishes were a generous portion and was more than enough for three adults, with plenty left to take home. Fried calamari - very good! Nicely fried but not too fried or oily. Great to share among three adults. Pernil - lovely. A variety of meat, some fatty, some lean, very tender and superb flavor without being too dry. Comes with moro rice. Bistec encebollado (steak with onions, rice and beans) - perfect. As someone who grew up with Spanish food, we love a nice bistec and this was done perfectly. Tender, thin, loads of flavor with nicely sauteed onions. Barely had to chew the meat, it was that tender. Half chicken - it was drier than the take out we had which was a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, the flavor was still on point. Add a bit of their amazing green sauce and all is right with the world again. Dining in has made me love this place even more. But I did notice the price was more expensive dining in than take out so I may stick to take out. My mom, husband and I all agree that it was good service (phenomenal job by Carlos - watching the multitasking and how the team works together in the restaurant was fascinating, probably one of the most coordinated efforts we have ever seen). I could eat this everyday. And the roasted Peruvian chicken hit the spot! Coated with garlic, paprika and roasted until the skin was crisp and thigh meat was tender. So good! I came here to finally try them, seeing as I have lived in the area for years and never tried them. I came in for a lunch special and noted the place was very modern, with dark wood furniture, lively music playing, a TV on the entrance wall playing something, and as I later found, a really nice bathroom, with one of those "waterfall" faucets. I usually prefer "sink that I can probably rip off the wall with a bit of effort" that I find in hole-in-the-wall restaurants that I seek out, but oh well. They have about a dozen or so lunch specials, ranging from $8.95 to I think $12.95, coming with either a small salad or cup of chicken soup. I opted for the chicken soup and the pollo guisado, with requisite rice and beans. Chicken and chicken; how filling. You have your choice of white or yellow rice, but hopefully you want authentic, so definitely yellow. The chicken soup definitely isn't Campbell's; two big hunks of chicken, one with bone, a few noodles on the bottom, some carrots and potatoes, and *very* heavy on the cilantro. I love cilantro, so I definitely recommend it. The main dish was ample in portion, as you can see by my photo. I really loved the stewed chicken, with a very heavy taste of... something my gringo self could not identify, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's bone in, though not obnoxiously so, like I've seen at some places, aka "mostly bone, some chicken." I slathered the rice in the usual aji sauce and dug in to it and the black beans. I left feeling stuffed with good food and all for $10.50. If you're ever around 71 Ave. station in Forest Hills and you want some good cheap Hispanic food, you definitely should walk a few minutes and give this place a try. read more

I really hate leaving low reviews for small businesses but we placed an order at 4 PM on a regular weekday - thinking that we were ordering early and probably getting THEEE freshest batch of food, we were honestly very excited, but proved wrong. We've ordered here a number of times for two years and they always either forget to add something to the order that we paid for or they end up giving us something else in place of what we actually ordered. To make things worse, when we ask for the order to be corrected, they always insist that we placed the order incorrectly. I also dislike that they add french fries to certain dishes to make up for giving us less chicken. I order from here a lot and always an hr plus wait and they always forget stuff and bring it in another hr. They are rude on the phone. The food quality is constantly changing.
