If you have a reservation and are lucky enough you get shoved to the back room which is a hot box and hear a slamming door all-night while dining you get Zero atmosphere and a lousy time.The food is average at best. Over seasoned and over done. The crab a gratin was a soupy mess. Our main courses were awful too. Don't worry we won't come back for another $ 160 meal ever. It sucks when you still go home hungry. Let me tell you about this meal...first, couldn't have had a better server for our group of 8. Doran knew the menu backwards and forwards. He gave specific details regarding each item that made the dish so perfect. Our group ordered several appetizers such as the boudin balls, fried green tomatoes, and Brussels sprouts. For our entrees, we followed many of Doran's suggestions - shrimp and grits, redfish, and white bolo pasta!! We finished our meal with a few deserts. What an amazing gem of a restaurant. Small and eclectic. Amazing service. Inspired food. Josh was our server and he was amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We were visiting from New Orleans and this place was on par with places in our city which is known for its food and service. The sweet potato bread, deviled eggs, kimchi pasta, parpadelle,, iceberg wedge with pork cracklings and banana bread pudding were all amazing and unexpected tastes. Highly recommend! I have been to Parish a few times. First of all, the food is pretty good, especially for the area. I would have to agree with other reviews that the price is very high (more like $$$-$$$$). The first couple of times visiting, my family and I had excellent service and food. Lately, the service has started to take a down turn. The past 3 experiences the staff made passive aggressive comments, but we let it go because the food is good and the waiters usually turn the situation around. I agree with another comment that the restaurant is a little pretentious. They want you to order food a certain way, sit in a certain place, etc. When I am paying over $100 for 2 people, I would like to eat and sit where I would like without having the staff make little comments of obvious annoyance. The staff seem to have a script they follow. If I have told you I have been to the restaurant many times, please don't ask how many and then continue the same spiel. Otherwise, if you are in the Monroe area, I do believe Parish is worth experiencing. Tips: be sure to get a reservation! read more

Very very happy I found this restaurant on my travels. Driving across the country, craving really great food and I was VERY dressed down for this restaurant; sweats! Attire is very business casual which I love. The host was very courteous, my waitress Ariel, AMAZING! She gave great recommendations, proper food/taste/texture descriptions. I had their soup special, tai sweet potato and carrot bisque followed but their New York strip. YUM!!! Shrimp and grits were a definite no, fish needed salt but the filet and potatoes were PERFECT. Our waitress was EXCELLENT! Too pretentious. There is no legitimate reason for the menu items to be in French, Spanish, and Italian: "a la plancha" and "crude". People in Monroe do not speak French Spanish, or Italian; it is not Mamous or New Orleans. The food was good, but overpriced. I was disappointed that no salad or vegetables came with the fish entree I ordered; the squirt of puréed carrot does not count as a side dish. A beef fillet for $44, and a ribeye for $90 is ridiculous. read more

This is by far one of the best restaurant experiences my husband and I have had. With travels and restaurants locally in New Orleans, Parish can teach everyone a lesson. Let's start with the service because it was equally as wonderful as the food. I'm not normally one to comment on service whether subpar or excellent, but in Parish's case I cannot refrain. We were blown away by the attention to detail by everyone in the restaurant. Everyone we were in contact with was equally invested in your overall experience, from wine discussions, food recommendations, or just southern chatter. This restaurant is actually pretty amazing. The service is by far the best I have ever experienced in Monroe. There honestly isn't even any competition. I was so impressed with the knowledge of our waitress (which I can't remember her name but she can be characterized by the depth of her dimples). She more than answered any questions and vividly described specials so well that there was no need to look at the menu further. As for the food, it was dreamy. We started with an amazingly fresh seafood tower appetizer followed by duck pasta and Scottish salmon special. Oh and the wonderfully creative cocktails were so delicious. Wow! I took a chance on this one being a new restaurant with only one review but I'm certainly glad I did. The atmosphere is casual but classy and the staff is super friendly. I arrived as the dinner rush was beginning and sat at the bar. I knew I was off to a good start when the tea was fresh and tasted terrific. On my bartender's recommendation I started with the fresh bread and thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu was filled with terrific options that made choosing an entree nearly impossible. I settled on the burger and proceeded to eat the whole thing. The bun was soft and fresh and the burger was juicy and delicious. This place is killing it! Best food I've had in Monroe! If you come here, request Doran as your waiter. He is by far one of the best servers I've ever had. He's attentive, detail-oriented, and knows the menu backwards and forwards. I had the Brussels sprouts appetizer, the shrimp and grits, a French 75, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. These were all recommended by Doran and he was right about each item. Perfect meal! I was with a large party of 10 and everyone was more than pleased with their choices. Actually, it's one of the best restaurants I've ever visited. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was phenomenal and the Grouper special was incredible. I wish I wasn't so full and could have tried the desserts -- they all looked great. The decor was on-point, the service was excellent, the pricing was reasonable, and the food was spectacular. There are no other boxes to check. This is my new go-to restaurant when my travels bring me to Monroe. I plan to spread the word and bring customers here as well.
