This is a casual dining sit-down restaurant. There is outdoor patio seating that overlooks the river or indoor seating. They had sports games playing on TV's in the bar area. We ordered the shrimp and grits... the flavor was pretty good although the shrimp did taste a little "fishy". But we were passing through Louisiana and wanted to eat somewhere that would give us a good feel of the bayou. We felt pretty satisfied, it's a cute place. read more

A good friend I worked with many years ago lives in the area and while on a road trip my wife and I decided to pay my friend a visit. We had our dog with us and couldn't leave him at a hotel and we were glad to find that River Grille allows dogs on their patio. The restaurant is situated right along the Bayou DeSiard. The view from the parking lot is lovely. Since we had our dog, we did not step foot inside, so I can't speak to that. Four of us sat in the patio area. It was very clean and we had it to ourselves. Three of us ordered Po Boy sandwiches and one of us got the teriyaki chicken. All of us were happy with our meals. I was especially impressed with my catfish po boy. The fish was perfectly grilled, tender, juicy and it had a tasty seasoning. The bread was fresh and had a wonderful flavor. The staff was very nice and it was lovely to be able to have a meal with my friend and her husband with our dog in tow! read more

Great spot for a burger or steak. The peppercorn steak is delicious. I've also had the boiled crawfish here and they were fantastic. Boiled shrimp are good too. This is the perfect atmosphere for an afternoon cocktail where you can sit on the porch and enjoy the view. They are also awesome for kids since they have a bounce house. Gumbo is good, not too spicy. Really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes today. Only word of advice: DO NOT ORDER GRILLED CHICKEN HERE. I've tried several chicken entrees on visits here and they are all terrible. Today I sent back my grilled chicken sandwich it was so tough and tasted like it may have gone bad. Also tried grilled chicken salad one day, chicken was awful. It must come out of a package, definitely not fresh. Stick with steak or seafood here and you can't go wrong. read more

Small, casual with a nice view of Bayou Desaird. Large portions and friendly staff. The Duck Wraps, Etouffe, Crab Cake, and a chef made Mac & Cheese were excellent. The fried crawfish were alright. The fried oysters and fried "tiny" baby soft shell crabs were horrible. They were so over cooked, the meat had disappeared, nothing but batter and grease. The service here was not as expected with southern hospitality. They were too concerned with their locals to hardly take an order. But the food was good and fresh when it finally arrived. Had the shrimp Po-boy it was pretty tasty with big shrimp and a generous supply of French fries. The steak was a bit under seasoned but cooked to order. Had the Duck wraps as well. Nothing to write home about there so I'd say skip those. read more

Hard to say if the food is good here or not -- however, one thing for certain: the service is worse than used car lot after the sale. Our group stood at the hostess bar for about five minutes, and then finally seated ourselves at one of the many empty tables. After sitting there for about 10 minutes with not the first server acknowledging us, we made the right decision and left. read more

What a fun night out with good friends on the bayou! This is a neighborhood place and very popular, and our friends Vickie and Bill Krutzer treated us out for one of their favorite spots that is right in their neighborhood. The place is very casual, and our server Tracey made us feel right at home. We shared several bottles of Chardonnay, and my wife loved the Greek salad entree she had, while I had to try one of my faves, shrimp and crayfish etouffee. This was really good! We were stopping through on our way to Florida and wanted a place to get some Cajun food. The chicken and sausage gumbo was really good!! I would 100% recommend it. The chicken breast had a good taste but was very tough. I wouldn't order it again if I can back. All in all though, really good! read more

My husband and are new to the Monroe area and decided too give this place a try. It's small but very nice atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. We started with fried green tomatoes, they were the best we have ever had! We ordered blackened shrimp and asparagus for our entrees and the were delicious. I highly recommend. read more

The food was excellent. I had the shrimp and crawfish étouffée and although it wasn't much to look at, the flavor was incredible. The fried crawfish tails were also quite good, as well as the duck wraps. The bread pudding I ordered for dessert was a disappointment, but not enough of one to tarnish my review. read more

Lunch and late afternoon have been nice. (I've not been during dinner). I do not recommend brunch as it can be very busy, time consuming, and they have run out of things both times we went. Nice servers but it takes a while to get your food (every time I've been). The patio area is also quite nice and there are a few local beers on tap. I do not recommend the fries (they are over cooked and almost burnt IMO) but the shrimp have been great - it has never been over flavored or over cooked so you can actually taste good quality shrimp rather than just spice. read more

This was such a joke, I can't believe how bad our experience was. We went for brunch on Sunday, around 12:40, they had empty tables, but they had not been cleaned off. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, while they cleaned one, then another 20 minutes before we got some Bloody Mary's. They tasted good, but did not have any garnish on them, which other patrons did have. The waitress finally took our order, which was three omelets and two sandwiches. The sandwiches came and had the wrong buns on them, just regular hamburger buns, but my grandsons went on and ate them. When they finally brought our omelets, they had no hollandaise sauce on them, no bread, no garnish, nothing! Just two eggs on a tomato, not very appetizing. We did send the omelets back and just didn't eat lunch. While we were there we saw the waitresses take back to the kitchen around seven full plates, I assume with the wrong order. I don't know who the man behind the bar was, but did overhear him comment, "I wish I could just kick everyone out of here and lock the door". I also saw him go to the table next to us that had a wrong order and he grabbed it, threw it in the trash can and kicked the bar side! Very impressive!! I had read that the new owners had been in the restaurant business for several years, but they have a lot to learn, we will never go back! read more
