The technicians are attentive, skilled, and the manicure/pedicures last at least 3 weeks for a regular pedi and dip powder nails. I have been trying to find a reliable and not ridiculously expensive nail salon in the Kendall area and I think this may be it! I say "I think" because I only got a gel manicure and not a pedicure. I'll be going back to get my nails done again in the coming weeks and will update my post. My technician was Jenny. She was nice and did a great job. I love that the polish is not thick and she painted them close to the cuticle. They have a ton of colors. Fair price ~$30-$35 for gel manicure. I am not sure what occurred during my recent visit and with the nail technician I was assigned. Here is the story: Arrival: I arrive to my appointment and check in. The girl in the front desk politely checks me in and tells me to pick a color. A woman walks up to me and doesn't say hi and I ask, "oh are you doing my nails?" She nodded in a bit of annoyance and obvious manner. So I said, "I'm looking for Lisbon Wants Moore from OPI." And she's looking through a few of the nail swatches and says, "We don't have it." A bit stunned at her quick response, I said "What do you mean? It's a very popular color." She checks with the front desk and they both go through a book and the front desk clerk says she doesn't have it and that a few colors were switched out. I replied, "Okay. I would like a color similar to OPI Lisbon Wants Moore." So the front desk girl checks the nail colors on the wall and tells the technician, "Oh, it's here." I said, "Great, but that's gel and I want dip." The technician proceeds to open a drawer with the dip powders and she's looking through some and I see her not pulling out any of the colors that match. I go over to help. Find it and say, "Here it is." Nail Station: We proceed to the manicure station so we can take off dip from previous nail job. I notice her name on her badge. Her name is Cindy. From there, we go to the pedicure station. All fine there. We get back to the manicure station and Cindy removes the foil wrapping from my fingers. She cuts my nails and asks how I want them cut and I respond, round please. Cindy files my first hand and then proceeds to tell me that there is a $5 charge for shaping my nails. I had to ask her to repeat a few times as I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I responded, "You mean to tell me that you proceeded to shape one hand and now you are going to tell me there is a $5 charge for a simple nail shape (round or square)?" She rolled her eyes. Yes, you read that right. The nail technician rolled her eyes at a customer. At that moment, I really wanted to gather my belongings and leave. However, since she started, I told myself, let her finish because I didn't want to pay her without her finishing. I told her, "I've been here twice already and I've never had to pay extra for simple nail shaping. It's part of the nail service package. You all be trained to say something in advance before the appointment is made and especially before you ask and shape my nails." Cindy responds that "I'm getting a particular shape and that she is supposed to charge me." and I said, "I don't think so." I can understand charging extra for coffin shaped, but I wasn't getting that. I was annoyed from earlier with her attitude and now feeling upset. Cindy was very rough when doing my nails. She even cut me in a few fingers (although one was worse than others) along my nail bed with the electrical nail filing machine. When she tells me to dry my hands with the air dryer, she notices me look at my hand and shake my hand since the cut burned. I told her, you cut me. She proceeded to dab some of the blood and she asks, "better?" I said, "I guess." I do admit that I had attitude because of her attitude persona. Her mood and behavior set the tone for my appointment visit. Finally towards the end, I get ringed up and pay. Result: When I get to my car, I noticed my nail color is a bit more pink. It appears she ended up doing three coats. My toes have two nail coats and my hands have three nail coats. I could have easily gone back and tell her to re-do the job, but no thanks. I've done a lot of research to find somewhere that does dip powder because I'm allergic to gel/acrylics. I chose this place because most of the reviews referring to getting a dip mani were good and they had multiple compared to other places that only had a few. A lot of them also recommended Tina so that's who I asked for when I called for an appointment. When I got to the salon, they attended me very quickly so I'll give them a star for that. Tina did a great job on my pedicure and I was happy because a lot of places I've gone to are pretty rough. However, my manicure was a completely different experience. My NAILS look great but my FINGERS are a disaster because of how much she nicked/burned me with the filer. And I'm not sure what they put on my nails but at some point she put something that burned so freaking bad, I almost cried. I noticed at least 3 cuts at the salon but once I got home I noticed so many more. I literally can't wash my hands because it stings so bad. I honestly feel half bad leaving this review because Tina was very nice but I don't think this kind of service is acceptable, so I'm hoping this will push them to improve. read more
