I've grown tired of spending a couple hundred dollars on a vacuum and having to replace it after a few years because repair are unavailable. I thought I would check out Park Ridge Vacuum, which had some positive feedback from community members. It was the right choice; it exemplifies all that is great about small business: personal service from real knowledgable experts in their product. Rosemary is the owner of Park Ridge Vacuum, along with her husband, and they've been here for decades. They carry several different brands. I was interested in a canister vacuum so she introduced me to Miele (which I learned is pronounced me-la) and Sebo. Both are exceptional brands, made in Germany. I hadn't heard of the latter, but it was a nice machine. It also had some cool hiding spaces for the accessories! That one came with a 10 year warranty and a turbo head for the price, and though I did consider it, ultimately I chose the Miele. It was competitively priced and has a 5 year warranty. Here at PRV, at least, they send you home with a box of bags. I love that the attachments are hidden in the body of the machine. It's relatively quiet, easy to operate, and the "park" function for the vacuum is really convenient. And as an unexpected bonus, my toddler didn't cower from the vacuum; this time she insisted on using it. The shop does repairs, too. They have a small parking lot on the south side of the building. They are worth the visit to get great service and get a product that will reliably last you decades. read more

I like to support local businesses over online or big-box stores. That being said I was in the market for a new vacuum since the power switch on my Hoover Whole House wind tunnel broke. I called Park Ridge vacuum and asked some questions, and was given some excellent advice over the phone. With so many options as well as varied prices I visited the store and told them what I wanted and was able to get this brand new, light weight Riccar vacuum for a great price. She even threw in some freebies. They also do repair work here. 5 stars! read more

My miele vacuum unfortunately stopped working, so I called Park Ridge vacuum where it was originally purchased 25 years ago. The woman I spoke to was very helpful over the phone so I brought it in for them to take a look at it. But when she saw it, she realized it was a very old model, and they unfortunately don't even make many of the parts anymore. So instead of putting more money into it she showed me some new models of the miele vacuums that were available. She actually let me use the floor models to get a feel for how they vacuumed and it really helped in making my decision. I really appreciated the service I recieved, she really went into all the details on how to use it, change the filters etc. I'm excited about my new vacuum with all the bells and whistles and also the piece of mind knowing I have Park Ridge vacuum there for service in the future. read more

My Miele vacuum would no longer start so I called a few places to service it, check pricing and check their turnaround time. All of them said it's most likely a cord replacement. First place needed 3 days turnaround, next place I called needed 5 days, and Park Ridge Vacuum got it done in 24 hours. On top of it all, it was the best priced!They're a great family business that's been around for years and you can tell cause they were super knowledgeable about my Miele. Glad I got it served vs buying new. I'd definitely return and recommend them for your vacuum needs. read more

I was in the store today, 3/24/16, interested in the Miele line, specifically the U1 Dynamic Cat & Dog model. Online it states that they carry the full current Miele line. This is not at all true, at least when it comes to the uprights. They only have two older models of the upright. The twist and the salsa(the newer Miele cleaners have "U1 Dynamic" and then the model on the bag cover. e.g. The twist, jazz, cat & dog etc) So not only do they not have the full Miele line, as advertised, they didn't even have any uprights that were brand new in the box. They just had 3 floor models. The older Miele Salsa they were trying to sell me had small nicks under the headlight- an indication to me that the cleaner is used, despite claims that the machine had never even been turned on. They were trying to configure the one older salsa model that they had to be equal to the cat & dog model. That's not what I wanted- I was looking to purchase the Miele U1 Dynamic Cat & Dog which is a lotus white. Not some questionable older model with swapped out filters and such. This place was a disappointment. Older models- not even new in the box. False advertising on their website(stating that they carried the full current Miele line) Another local Park Ridge store that is a total let down. But my day did get better. I went straight to Abt. They carry the ENTIRE line of the newest Miele models, including the U1 Dynamic Cat & Dog upright that I was looking for. Abt immediately started knocking the price down and throwing stuff in!! I walked out with way more than PR Vacuum was offering and paid way less than PR Vacuum's "if you order it today" price. Abt nails it again!!!!! Got my vacuum I wanted, a box of bags, an extended replacement warranty and a Miele floor tool for less than what PR vacuum was offering. I also bought a TV haha Thanks Abt for an EXCELLENT deal yet again!!!! PR vacuum, I know you're small, but get some inventory. Don't offer people out of the box and potentially used units unless the customer requests a floor model with the chance of getting a better deal. What a great place! A small business that gives service like it used to be given in my father's day. I stopped in today to purchase a Miele Titan vacuum, but received much more then I bargained for. They had a model called the homecare that was identical to the titan I seen at ABT but it had the full size power nozzle instead of the small one that you can't adjust for carpet height, it also came with 2 attachments that are valued at $80.00 for free. The whole package cost LESS than the Miele Titan after they threw in 2 boxes of bags PLUS A LIFETIME MOTOR WARRANTY AT NO EXTRA CHARGE who gives a lifetime warranty anymore WOW. I enjoyed the conversation and knowledge they had plus a bottle of water they offered me. it was like shopping at cheers :). They made me feel like a long time customer and was more concerned with selling me the right vacuum for me instead of a vacuum they were trying to sell. Before I left they gave me a parting appreciation gift, a pen and a calendar. I didn't know what to expect when I went in but felt like I left a neighborhood bar where everybody knew my name :). If you're looking to purchase a vacuum or servicing one check this joint out you will not be disappointed. Great products, great service and great prices are not only at large retailers like I originally thought, you can still find them in neighborhood shops like Park Ridge vacuum.
