I washed a dog bed and stuffing got stuck in my washer and water would not drain. I have done this before so I knew what the issue was from go. The owner Neb came out and spent 20 minutes cleaning out the stuffing and charged 195 for repair. I was not home at the time but was told it was fixed. It was not. Contacted him again and he came out the next day and spent another 25 minutes removing more stuffing that he missed the first time. Again,I was not personally home for this bc of work but a family member was there. When I came home that night I found my washer damaged and now the agitator was not spinning but it was draining. When I reached out to the owner and questioned the repair again and the visual damage he said he worked on my machine as good as he does on other customer machines and blamed me for washing a dog bed and offered no help other than telling me to unplug machine for 15 minutes. He didn't even apologize for damaging my machine even after sending him pics. Now I need to buy a new machine. This company has terrible customer service and obviously not professionals to say the least. Mistakes happen, but to not own up to them or even inform the customer it happened is just unacceptable. I thought I would check out Park Ridge Vacuum, which had some positive feedback from community members. It was the right choice; it exemplifies all that is great about small business: personal service from real knowledgable experts in their product. Rosemary is the owner of Park Ridge Vacuum, along with her husband, and they've been here for decades. They carry several different brands. I was interested in a canister vacuum so she introduced me to Miele (which I learned is pronounced me-la) and Sebo. Both are exceptional brands, made in Germany. I hadn't heard of the latter, but it was a nice machine. It also had some cool hiding spaces for the accessories! That one came with a 10 year warranty and a turbo head for the price, and though I did consider it, ultimately I chose the Miele. It was competitively priced and has a 5 year warranty. Here at PRV, at least, they send you home with a box of bags. I love that the attachments are hidden in the body of the machine. It's relatively quiet, easy to operate, and the "park" function for the vacuum is really convenient. And as an unexpected bonus, my toddler didn't cower from the vacuum; this time she insisted on using it. The shop does repairs, too. They have a small parking lot on the south side of the building. They are worth the visit to get great service and get a product that will reliably last you decades.

Those that claimed to work on Bosch branded appliances either wanted ridiculous service call or labor rates, and/or didn't have availability for a visit for week and a half. I was lucky to find Elite. Elite offered same day service, and an affordable service call charge that they wrap into their labor charges if you choose to follow through with the repair. Cesar was my service contact, and was very easy to work with. He quickly diagnosed the fridge's problem, and had the refrigerator working the next day after getting the part. Can't ask for better than that. I would highly recommend Elite, and would use them again if I found myself in a similar situation.

A week later - I called Dara back to schedule an appointment for a fridge checkup with less of an…read moreemergency. Felt like our 25 year old fridge was no longer at its best - taking long to cool to temp and over recent years needing to dial it to a higher setting to keep milk from going back early. Did get assigned a 4 to 6 p.m. window on Friday afternoon. Got a confirmation just before 6 p.m. that Ian was on his way. Glad that Ian made it - he determine that our fridge coils really needed cleaning in the back (I've only cleaned underneath regularly and only discovered recently that there was a lot to clean on the back, which I did just the exterior. He took care of the insides I think near the coil and compressor and determined that our starter was fading. I think it was 1.5 hrs of work and parts for $250. May seem like a lot, but perfect for us to keep a 27 year GE fridge running as well as it has been. We'll know now to have the fridge cleaned when performance dips rather than bumping the setting colder.
