Wow - I left my previous review 12 years ago! My little pup is now an elder statesman, and we now seem to visit PSVC every other month for one thing or another. There have been lots of new faces - docs and vet techs over the years, but we always feel welcomed and cared for and are so very grateful to have this place just down the block from us. I know it gets hectic and busy and you are all dealing with a lot of emotional pet parents in very stressful situations so I just want to give another shout out and say thank you for taking such good care of my Ziggy - always!

I recently moved from out of state and hadn't established a new vet when my dog suddenly found himself with some type of neck injury! I made an appt for a DIFFERENT vets office with a similar name and unbeknownst to me showed up here! Once we realized why I had no appt they figured out a way to squeeze us in and they gave Leo everything he needed to feel better at the time. I have NEVER had a positive vet experience before this- not even since i was a child going with my mom to take our family pets to the vet. They were kind, they charged me the lowest bill I've ever gotten at a vets office, and they listened to me and were very compassionate and kind about my situation. I KNOW how hard it is to find a vet in the city you can trust with not only your wallet but your fur baby. I know there are a few reviews on here that might make you question whether this is the place for you but as a lifelong pet owner I promise you this vet office is the best in town.

The best vet in park slope ? DR SZACKI. Trust me I've seen SO MANY VETS IN THE PAST! I don't even live nearby anymore but I travel to see her. I wanted to wait to write this review until I was 100% I'm going to guide pet owners in the right direction. Initially I came here to see a random doctor who's name I will not mention. That doctor ended up messing up the urine sample for my dog and the only positive that came out of this was meeting dr szacki. She is a true gem and I'm so honored to have such a competent vet. She is not like most vets who are out for money... she genuinely cares and wants what's best for your dog. She treated my boxers UTI/KCS and my golden retrievers severe anxiety. I know it sounds BIZARRE to put a dog on anxiety medication but my dog had unlocked the door and left my apt multiple times. Thanks to dr szacki both my dogs are doing well. Staff is usually nice in making appointments especially for emergencies. After seeing dr szacki I referred her to my mother and my mom brings her dogs there. The doctor is always very professional and patient especially dealing with difficult situations. She had assisted with the euthanasia of one of my sick dogs and was very transparent that it was the best decision to put her to sleep while other vets wanted to take biopsies. If you have a dog or cat make an appointment with dr szacki! Leave extra time to find parking as it's very difficult. I can't say enough positive things about her and the office. She is very HONEST IF YOU NEED TO SEE A SPECIALIST and will not do something she isn't comfortable with. Lastly take the minimal amount of medication from the vet as it's upcharged ie: 30 days of a certain pill by the vet would be $42. Online it's less then 10 dollars... I think it's always like that so bear it in mind.

I usually schedule appointments with Dr Ozog. She is a young professional but is so knowledgeable and has superb attention to detail. Dr Ozog helped me with my pups a few times and I can tell that she really cares. I loved the "All Animals Great And Small" tv series and books. And Dr Herriot reminds me of our veterinarian :)

Dr Yvonne and the staff are amazing. I give them a trillion stars. I highly recommend Park Slope Veterinary Center!

Hi, Do they take pet insurance? If so with who? Thanks

If you have pet insurance, you'll pay upfront for vet services (I think this is standard pretty much everywhere - it's not like human insurance). You would then submit invoices to your pet insurance company for reimbursement. Whether or not said…

I've searched without success for years for an adequate veterinary provider, as my five-year-old cat, Rex, gets extremely stressed and anxious going to the vet's office. Comfort Paws offers the in-home alternative we need, and I'm so grateful for their services. Dr. Irons was prompt, friendly, organized, and communicative. She listened carefully to my concerns about Rex's health and my characterization of his temperament, and approached him in a way that allowed her to do a much more thorough examination than any other vet has without upsetting him unduly. When he became agitated near the end of the visit (as most cats would when receiving shots), she gave him the space he needed to calm down and monitored his body language and signals to prevent any injury or further distress. Comfort Paws will continue to be our go-to vet going forward, and I'm so happy to have found somewhere that can work with us to make sure Rex--who's a very sweet, amiable kitty, but who happens to be a large cat with major fears around medical treatment--can thrive.

From the very beginning, she was gentle, thoughtful, and deeply respectful of both our dog and our family. I might also add that while it wasn't yet an emergency situation, she was able to come on very short notice, which alleviated our dog's pain, and our emotional discomfort. She moved at a pace that honored what we were going through, explaining everything clearly while also knowing when to step back and simply give us space. Our dog was able to pass peacefully, surrounded by love, in an environment that felt calm and intentional rather than clinical. In a moment filled with overwhelming grief, she brought a sense of steadiness and grace that we won't forget. She provided compassionate care at the moment we needed it most. We are incredibly grateful and thankful, and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone facing this heartbreaking decision.

It adds to the charm of the neighborhood. They always decorate for holidays, and I especially love the giant skeleton they have at Halloween. I was expecting the staff to be compassionate and helpful, and they were beyond nice. The inside is very cozy, but the patient rooms look modern and clean. 3. Brooklyn Heights is fancy, so I wasn't sure what to expect when it came to the bill. My dog Jeffrey had to renew all his annual vaccinations plus his three-year vaccinations. He had a full wellness check, including bloodwork and a fecal test. He had the works. It was expensive, but not unreasonable. Across all 5 vaccines and testing, it was maybe $100 more compared to prices at our last VCA vet in Boerum Hill. I was expecting more TBH. They also swabbed Jeffrey's ear to check for bacteria, and I did not see this on our bill. Thank you for that, Dr Chan! 4. I had read some reviews of people complaining about how the staff was difficult when asked for price breakdowns. I DID ask, and they were so kind. They really went out of their way to explain everything to me before I was charged or any procedures/testing had been done. If you had any questions or concerns with pricing, I would not hesitate to ask their staff, as they could not have been more accommodating. 5. Dr. Chan and her assistant (I'm looking for her name!) really went out of their way to adore Jeffrey. He harmed her by treating her for a symptom that was-not-my chief complaint, was not anywhere at the top of my very pressing and clearly expressed concerns. Dr. Bloomfield gave my cat an injection today for a symptom that was not even present, despite the fact that I texted, emailed, and verbalized my chief complaint & worrisome concerns to both to Bond Vet and directly to Dr. Bloomfield. My little cat is experiencing GI sensitivity. Over the past 2 days she's come very close to not-eating-at-all-for-24-hours, is sleeping a bit more than usual and is showing a near total DISINTEREST in eating. My little Missy is less than 5 pounds. She's very tiny & adorable, but also very frail (experiencing weight lost and near her complete limits). I was told by Dr. Bloomfield (and confirmed by his assistant) that Cerenia was an appetite inducing stimulant (and if it worked as hoped), would last for 24 hours. Seeing the lethargic, disoriented condition of Little Missy, I Googled Cerenia. It is NOT an appetite stimulant, it's PAINFUL (upon injection), causes LETHARGY and Disorientation. Why did my little Missy need this? Let alone Dr. Daniel Bloomfield did not handle Little Missy's body with compassion and respect; treated her tail like it was a handle (literally tugged on her tail) during the exam to get a look at her tush; not aggressively, yet, absolutely-not-gently. His "consult" was very fatalistic, he ignored my concerns, ignored my cat's smaller symptoms that -are- treatable to improve the quality of her life & instead was hyper-focused on her senior age. Both his dismissive and inattentive behavior during the consult and the Cerenia shot were harmful. Dr. Bloomfield caused Missy distress, sedation and disorientation. He worsened the very symptoms we came to him to address (with an extra "side" of disorientation that Missy did-not-have prior to his "treatment").

At home, we had given her a 25mg Benadryl pill to prevent a serious reaction. As soon as we arrived at the clinic, the nurses took our dog away immediately. After waiting an hour, a nurse told us our dog was okay, but according to the doctor, she needed a 50mg Benadryl injection because the pill wasn't strong enough. (Again, my dog is only 20 pounds!) We accepted it because we are not doctors. We then had to wait another 2 hours, even though NO ONE ELSE was there at that time (between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM). The doctor finally appeared, let us go home, and said everything was fine with no follow-up or medicine needed. Back home, my dog couldn't sleep or rest; she just walked around, scratched constantly, and suffered. Slowly, her entire body filled with red, flaming hives. By 12:00 PM, we were back at VERG. They took our dog away again immediately upon arrival. We were left waiting in the dark for 1.5 hours before a doctor finally appeared. This doctor stated our dog needed a strong steroid injection and yet another 50mg Benadryl injection. We declined the Benadryl since we had pills at home. She promised that after the steroid shot, we would get our dog back and could go home. However, after paying our bill, they kept our dog separated from us in the back. I had to argue with the rude, unprofessional, and lazy staff for another 1.5 hours and finally threaten to call the police just to get my dog returned to me. The doctor eventually brought her back with the paperwork and told us she needed a 5mg Xyzal pill once a day. I bought the medicine and gave it to my dog. The next morning, her condition grew much worse. Her entire body became hot and completely covered in dark red hives. These doctors gave dangerous, high-dose adult medications that only made our small dog even sicker and completely destabilized her. Save your money and take your pets somewhere that actually cares!
