Located on the East End of town, the dog park was a little tricky for me to find out how to get to it. Not being from here originally, I'm not quite familiar with everything. I figured it out though by entering the park off Franklin and driving towards the boat ramp. The entrance to the dog park is right next to the boat ramp. Separate areas for small and large dogs, although while I was there, the small dog area (which is also smaller in size) was the only area with dogs in them.. and they were larger dogs. My guy will play with anyone though and he was happy to have someone to play with. Great little free park and I'm sure I'll be back quite often.

However it's also located right next to the sewer treatment plant, so if there's a stiff wind, watch out! The large-dog area is HUGE and has a nice rolling hill for dogs to run over. It doesn't have water stations like other parks in the area, but just outside of the fenced area there is a dog water station. It could use a bench or two for seating, but it's nicely maintained and a spacious spot for dogs to burn through their energy. I would recommend visiting!

The dog beach is about a 5-minute walk from the parking lot, and the trail is very well marked. The weather was great, so there were lots of dogs there enjoying the water. There are changing facilities and restrooms available near the parking lot, but not on the beach, so keep that in mind. We're looking forward to enjoying the water with our golden retriever again soon!

Only thing is that it gets pretty busy almost always. My kids love the zip line and can play here for hours and it's nice to be able to take our dog with us and be able to walk her and have dog bags available. Overall, glad it's nearby just have to pick the right day and time of day to visit.

If hiking, the path has a paved loop, but you will need to cross a suspension bridge. There are also off the beaten trails that take you into the ravines and over 100+ stairs down to the river bed. It looks like they've connected Grand River Park to Grand Ravines and Ottawa county will eventually connect all the parks to make a path all the way to Lake Michigan. That is very exciting! You can easily run or walk whatever you're training for here, and the varied topography of woods, fields, ravines, and rivers makes for a scenic and interesting time. Enjoy!

The sand is great and the hike is pretty short (about 15 mins) a lot of people walked in with towels, chairs, blankets, and were lazing around great place. Just be aware of ticks. Seems like there were a lot of banners and I had my tick spray so that was great.

The parking lot is very small but normally there is not a lot of people using it so it's usually easy to get a parking space. Unfortunately there is no reserved handicapped parking. I love how they make 303 stairs sound like a scary and steep ascent worthy of celebration, but you…read morebetter believe that we leaned right into that and decemated them in under 151 steps! Seriously, this is a great little climb to the top with some amazing payoff views overlooking Saugatuck/Douglas and the Kalamazoo river and everything beyond. I did it with my 8 year old, going every other step, and my 70+ yr old father, who took it a little slower but got there just behind us. From the top you have two choices, stairs down OR run the dunes down to Oval Beach, and we chose the latter. Running down sand dunes is a blast and I encourage anyone able bodied enough to try to go for it. There was a QR at the top that took you to a cute page of stickers and swag you can buy to recall your accomplishment, but you can get a lot of it in the museum at the bottom of the stairs as well. The parking area is ample and there are also two very clean bathrooms there you can use. The museum shares the history of the area and is free to visit. The park also has a large picnic pavilion and it looked like there may be a dock behind the museum that was accessible as well. Great experience!

Certainly warmer than the Atlantic in Rhode Island. I would love to live near there and go all the time. Good for little kids as there were no waves. Not sure if it gets wavy as I'm not used to lakes like this.
