Chilaquiles w/ steak and over and easy eggs
    Christine H.

CASH ONLY. Chilaquiles is SO GOOD here. I got it with chorizo with scrambled eggs and it was delicious. I almost finished the whole plate but I was so full. My friend got the same dish but with over and easy eggs with steak and she said it was also good. Whatever you get with your chilaquiles, it will be delicious. It comes with housemade salsa in a bottle and it's so good. They make 30 pounds of it every week. I had the cucumber and lime drink and it was slightly sweet and very refreshing. It paired well with the chilaquiles. The space and seating area is intimate and smaller, but it def has a homey feel and you get to watch what goes behind the scenes behind the counter as they cook and prepare ingredients. The owner is super nice and welcoming. He explains the menu very well. I will def come back here again to try their other dishes!

Okay I love this place. Amazing customer service. The staff is so friendly and greeted me with a free bowl of soup while I waited on my to-go order. The soup was so good. Tons of veggies, chicken, and bow tie pasta. The service was so phenomenal and the staff was so attentive while making my order, making sure everything was cooked how I wanted it to be. I can tell this will be a go-to for me in the future.

Nice little neighborhood diner for an affordable, fillIng breakfast or lunch. The man working behind the counter was extremely friendly and gave us a newspaper to read while waiting for food. He recommended the chilaquiles, which were bomb and I see becoming a common hangover go to. Also tried the pancakes and they were pretty good, would have been better if I weren't so shy to ask for more syrup.. The man serving us gave us a big bottle of a yummy homemade salsa to top our chilaquiles and hashbrowns with, I'd highly recommend adding a lot of it . Will definitely be coming here often, and you can't beat the price! Also just to note, it's cash only so you can come with it or use their ATM

I'm not sure if it's a hidden gem or not but I haven't seen this spot mentioned on social media a lot. It is teeny tiny so MAKE A RESERVATION before you go, you may not get seated without one. First of all that frozen peach sidecar needs to be added to every menu at every restaurant in America! It was really that good! It was sweet and strong and just so tasty. My whole table enjoyed their food and it hit even better the next day when we warmed it up for leftovers. I got roasted chicken with greens and Mac and cheese. That honey mango chutney glaze (or whatever it was) was FIRE and not to mention the meat fell right off the bone! The Mac and cheese was also fire! I tasted my home girl's salmon bites, again FIRE! Not to mention the portions were huge! My only critique would be on the greens. They weren't bad but it had an after taste to me like it was possibly cooked in beef broth, so it wasn't my favorite. Definitely add this spot to the top of your list the next time you're in Chicago!

I'm playing nice today *SERIOUSLY*…read more So my friend met the owner at a car wash and she wanted to try this place. So we come in on a Friday night at 830pm and it's DEAD. Not 1 other patron was on the joint. We're like are yall open, they say yes and say we can sit anywhere. It's built out lounge and bar style not a restaurant so beware. We opted for the bar since that's the only chair/table type area the other seats were couches with end tables so we knew we were ordering alot of items and didn't want to be slouched eating. Fast fwd the bartender is friendly and she took our drink & food orders. We ordered the baddest b*tch drink which is Hynotic & Hennessy for $22. We then ordered lamb chops, 8 Buffalo wings, steak eggrolls with steak cut fries. It took the food maybe 10/15 mins to come out. Everything was fresh & hot, the drink was tasty too. (Not $22 tasty, but tasty) Oh adding injury to insult they dont have real dine in plates, they serve the food in to go containers. WEIRD they did bring us little boat trays to share. About 30/45mins we notice the crowd trickling in. They had a birthday party coming thru. So we finished our food and asked for our bill to leave because it was getting party scene crowded. The owner was VERY friendly, he introduced himself and asked how things were. 2 things I should've deducted more stars for, TOTALLY DISGUSTING DIRTY WOMEN'S BATHROOM!!!! With all the women working here they don't see the filth? I mean I almost would've rathered pissed on myself! Smdh Then the parking! Horrible, they blocked it off potentially for the owner/club or vip people, but that left no parking and we had to cross Western which is a busy Horrible street to be crossing late at night in heels or whatever. So they need to do better there. I would go back to party, not to dine in.

I picked it because I wanted somewhere intimate, consistently well reviewed, and with enough hype to feel like a fun Chicago pick without being too much of a scene. Overall, I liked it! The ambiance is probably my favorite part. It's dark, intimate, very clean, and cold, which was refreshing. I can also see it being a really cozy spot in the winter. Service was wonderful, and the food was good across the board. I tried the smash burger rather than the famous OG Loyalist cheeseburger because I personally prefer smash burgers. It had a lot going on flavor-wise. Some umami was enjoyable. That said, I was expecting to be a little more blown away by it given the reputation. If I'm being completely honest, I'd personally choose the burgers at Leavitt Inn, Mott St, NADC, Armitage Alehouse, or Izakaya over The Loyalist. I can't quite put my finger on exactly what was missing for me. Even the bun felt like a lot compared to the rest of the burger. That said, I do recommend The Loyalist. It's a good atmosphere, the service is excellent, and it's an easy crowd-pleaser for a nice dinner. I just think the burger fell slightly short of the hype for me.
