At 12pm on a Sunday, we only had to wait about 15 minutes for 2 people. The ambience is very chill, millennial-core. The food was pretty good, nothing amazing but nothing to complain about. I got the mimosa and puertquito eggs Benedict, both of which were tasty. Overall, a nice brunch option in Pilsen!

New favorite brunch spot? Quite possibly! Located in Pilsen with a name like Pochos, you're not sure what to expect... is it Mexican brunch, is it American brunch. Ni de aquí ni de allá. It's a fresh and hip brunch spot with delicious food with both Mexican and American flare Service was solid (our waitress was friendly), food selection decent (no huge menu), but the food was delicious! Both flavorful and made to order. We started with the chicken empanadas, max flavor, generous size for a starter. Mains: I'm salivating just thinking about the French toast. The chicken is also delicious and juicy! My husband ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, which has the same chicken and he loved it. We came during the week and during happy hour, which we didn't partake in, but it's nice that it's an option. It was busy for a random Thursday afternoon, but nothing crazy. I look forward to coming back and will definitely try their chilaquiles.

Updated Review: Decided to post an update for one of my favorite spots in the city, Pocho's. I always love coming back and finding that everything is just as delicious as the last time. Very cool welcoming atmosphere, and if you're in the front, they have a lot of natural light. Pocho's still has some of the best empanadas in the city. On my last visit, they had a special French toast that was so pretty I had to take a picture. The staff is always warm, friendly, and helpful. My sister and I have been coming here for years, often bringing our family along, and it's always a great experience. I ran into one of the owners the night before and decided to stop by the next morning for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised the food was still just as flavorful and satisfying as ever. If you're ever on 18th Street, Pocho's is definitely worth a visit!

Amazing, amazing food!! Came to visit Chicago and was originally going to go to a different place for brunch but then found this place and decided to give it a try! The wait was not bad, given that it's a tiny place! We probably waited 20 minutes before being seated. The staff was friendly and super helpful answering any questions I had. We ended up getting some chilaquiles - omg! These are the best chilaquiles I've ever had at any restaurant!!! We also ordered their chicken sandwich and I'm not gonna lie, whenever I read chicken breast I do not have tasty thought about it. Boy, was I blown away at how delicious this chicken (breast) sandwich tasted!!! I'm drooling just thinking about it. I will definitely be going back the next time I go to Chicago!!

Amazing neighborhood gem! The food is delicious, service top notch, and $35 mimosa kit with fresh squeezed juice cannot be beat. Will definitely be back.

One of the best brunch restaurants in Pilsen! Such friendly staff and amazing food. I would highly recommend the green chilaquiles, but would pass on the espresso martini.

One of our favorite stopovers in Pilsen. Pochos delivered on the brunch menu. We ordered a few entrees and Michelada's (score on the happy hour side). Ambience, fast service and meal raised the bar, exceeded our expectations. Our favorite was the pork chilaquiles with egg and poblano verde hollandaise sauce. Portions were sizable and had enough for the next two days, takeaway. Thanks for the wonderful meal and service, Pochos!

Yummy! A quick Pisces Szn pop out to celebrate birthdays. I was in need of mimosas without having a reservation. A random Sunday Funday was in need. I ended up dining here, and it was well worth it. It was super cute and quaint in the inside. Bright upbeat and photo ready-esque. The vibe was right. The server who was a Pisces, that serviced us was super sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. I love when the staff has actually sampled the menu and have great suggestions. I ordered a mimosa, oh I forgot to mention it was national margarita day, so I immediately said double me up baby! It's time to celebrate. Their margaritas were tasty and made fresh no concentrate. I hate when margaritas are made with a premade mix, or premixed or concentrate. Oh please don't mislead meh. I love a freshly made Margarita. I prefer natural.

This was a cool spot for breakfast. The avocado toast was messy but tasted good. The server was attentive. Nothing stood out as being extraordinary and also nothing was horrible either. I would check them out again and try a different dish. My food companion said that she would have preferred to have all of her items combined as opposed to a la carte.

    Enchiladas with steak

Pochos - Chicago, IL: The Enchiladas All the Way with Steak Just Broke My Brain I've eaten a lot of enchiladas in this city. None of them prepared me for the life-altering experience that is Pochos' "Enchiladas All the Way" with steak. Three corn tortillas stuffed with tender, juicy grilled skirt steak, rolled tight and swimming under a blanket of molten queso Chihuahua, then crowned with the holy trinity: tangy red chile sauce, crisp shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream, and a final snowfall of cotija. It's the full Chicago-Mexican-American enchilada fantasy executed at absolute peak performance. The steak is perfectly seasoned and charred, still pink in the middle, and so plentiful it spills out with every bite. The red sauce has that deep, slow-cooked chile flavor that makes your eyes roll back, the cheese pulls for days, and the cold crunch of the lettuce and tomato cuts through the richness like a miracle. I mopped up every last drop with their fluffy Mexican rice and smoky refried beans like a man possessed. Portions are comically huge, prices are stuck in the 90s, and the vibe is pure family-run joy: bright colors, soccer on the TVs, and abuelitas in the kitchen who've clearly been making this exact plate for decades. The staff treats you like you're the 100th cousin they're thrilled finally showed up for dinner. Pochos isn't chasing trends. They're just quietly serving one of the best plates of enchiladas in the entire city, maybe the country. That "all the way" with steak is now permanently tattooed on my soul. I'm already trying to invent reasons to drive back across town tomorrow. Five stars is an insult. Get in the car right now. You'll thank me when you're halfway through the plate and tears of happiness are streaming down your face. ¡Viva Pochos!

This place is a little hidden gem! The waitress was super sweet and patient with us and answered all our questions. Everything was delicious from the cafe de olla to the chilaquiles. Do not miss the empanadas! We loved them! I would definitely recommend pochos if you're in the area.

What a cute place for brunch. I will say that it is not your traditional Mexican breakfast and the price is a little steep but I know that it was worth it for what I was in the mood for. It was such a vibe and you can tell by the crowd that it was a little more gentrified than what it was when I was growing up in the city. I ordered the rajas omelette and it was delish. the flavors were so good and very original. I don't drink coffee but my family said the coffee was great. I would come back and try other items.

Vibes inside are excellent and drinks are (very) boozy with a variety of booths, tables, and bar seating available. Burger with Egg and Bacon (4.25/5): Look, this is a great burger. Bacon is melt in your mouth and the egg adds a bit of creamy richness on top of the fatty, salty beef and cheese combo. The bread bun is pillowy, but I wouldn't wait in a line for hours for this. Bone Marrow (10/5): Now I would wait in line for hours for this bone marrow dish that absolutely changed my life. This comes with 4 HUGE pieces of bone marrow that you spread over fluffy, perfectly toasted Texas toast and pair with a beef cheek marmalade that exactly rides the line between sweet and savory. If you come here without ordering this, you're missing out big time. Green Salad (4/5): Nice, fresh and I needed some fiber. Nothing mind blowing, but a good change of pace. Crispy Fries (4/5): Very lightly crispy fries (reminiscent of light well for the west coasters), but the sauces are where this shines. Garlic aioli and mornay sauce (think white gravy) were rich, thick, and excellent! Key Lime Pie (4.25/5): Whipped cream on this INCREDIBLE, wish you could just order a bowl of that. I think they serve it slightly warmer than fridge temp (cool not cold) and it just melts on the tongue with really strong vanilla flavor. Pie itself is also good; nice strong tartness with the buttery and salty crust. Mille-Feuille (4.5/5): Chocolate sauce has a nice depth of flavor with the shattering crisp of the pastry. Pastry cream was a lot thicker than I expected, but super rich and delicious. Definitely a dessert to share.

When I checked back after an hour, the greeter couldn't tell me how much longer it would be, only that they were trying to squeeze us in between reservations. Even our waitress apologized for the uneven table. To make matters worse, the table was in direct sunlight, making it an uncomfortable dining experience.

Recently, my husband and I celebrated the anniversary of the day we met. We don't always mark the…read moreoccasion, but this year it was a milestone worth celebrating. We chose to dine at Girl & the Goat in Chicago, a restaurant we had never visited before. The acclaimed restaurant by renowned chef Stephanie Izard truly lived up to its stellar reputation! One of the first things we appreciated was the convenience of the restaurant's valet parking, located right by the front patio. At $22 for up to four hours and $26 for four to eight hours, the rates were quite reasonable for the area. As soon as the three of us stepped inside Girl & the Goat (we had made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Friday), we were warmly greeted by one of the two friendly hostesses, and were promptly led to a comfortable four-top table with a banquette and two chairs along the wall. We felt fortunate to have one of the better tables in the dining room, as some of the others were positioned very close together. The nearby two-top tables, in particular, were quite small and placed only a short distance from ours. The restaurant's rustic-industrial décor was dark but trendy and stylish, the lively and vibrant vibe was warm and welcoming. However, I have to mention that it was really loud in the dining room, as guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and talked loudly.  It was hard to hear our server and the staff who delivered and explained the dishes to us.  Our server, Yazmin, was extremely friendly and attentive.  It was very sweet of her to wish us a happy anniversary both in the beginning  and at the end of the meal.  She also checked in on us several times during the evening.  Now, on to the food and drinks. I started with a glass of the NA Sparkling Rosé ($17), which was light, crisp, and quite refreshing. My husband ordered a glass of Le Colture Prosecco ($18), while our daughter chose the Sun Kid ($18). She enjoyed her drink, although she felt the portion was a bit small, as the glass was filled with a lot of ice that took up much of the space. Since the restaurant offers small to medium plates which are shareable, Yazmin advised us to get 5 to 6 dishes for 3 people to share.  We decided to get 5 savory dishes and 3 desserts to share: Savory dishes: Chickpea Fritters ($20), goat yogurt, green chutney, sev spice crunch, pickled rhubarb. Pan Roasted Halibut ($37), miso-Marcona almond butter, spring onion blueberry nuoc cham. Roasted Pig Face ($28), sunny side egg, tamarind, cilantro, red wine-maple, potato stix. Goat Empanadas ($24), smoked tomato-corn salsa, roasted poblano crema queso fresco. Confit Goat Belly ($38), strawberry goat braise, smoked yogurt drizzle, pickled strawberries. Desserts: Vacation, Please! ($16), toasted coconut crunch, lemon passion fruit sorbet, rum-soaked pineapple cake. Berry Yummy Par-tea ($16), earl grey soaked sponge cake, yuzu curd, spiced blackberries. Chocolate Basil Brownie Bash ($16), olive oil semifreddo, chocolate fennel crunch, basil granita. The meal was just phenomenal!  All the savory dishes were cooked perfectly with bold flavors; the meats were tender and full of flavors.  There were dishes that we normally would not have ordered if we saw them on menus of other restaurants.  Here, we tried them and were delighted that we did!  Our consensus is that Roasted Pig Face is our most favorite! It is everything we love in a comfort dish -- crispy on the outside, meltingly tender inside, and packed with rich, balanced flavor.  We will definitely order this again!  The Confit Goat Belly is a close second, with buttery, fall-apart meat and just the right balance of richness, acidity, and crunch. For dessert, "Vacation, Please!" is the one that we will always come back for. The toasted coconut crunch adds texture, the lemon passion fruit sorbet brings a refreshing tang, and the rum-soaked pineapple cake ties it all together with just the right amount of sweetness.  The other two desserts that we ordered were also very good.  The staff even brought out a scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream on the house, with two lit candles to celebrate our anniversary - a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable.  This dessert spread was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. I'd like to mention that the restaurant added a 4% surcharge to the bill, which the customer may request to have the surcharge remove if you choose.  We let them keep it. We spent about two hours at the restaurant. The savory dishes came out very quickly, the pace probably was even a tad too fast, but the desserts made up for it by taking a longer time.  We did not mind as we were still full, and had time to enjoy the ambiance more.  I would say it is a restaurant great for group gathering and celebratory functions, but not so much for intimate romantic date night.  All in all, it was a wonderful dinner, we look forward to returning again.

We each only had a couple of bites left, but it definitely gave off an "okay, you're done now" vibe. Then he went to take the green beans (arguably the cult classic on the menu), and we still had more than half of them left. I had to stop him and say, "Yeah, we're not done with those. We paid for them. Can you put them in a to-go box instead?" For context, it was about 20 minutes before closing, but we ordered with plenty of time and were already eating with a "get in, eat, and get out" mindset. I've just never had someone at a restaurant start clearing plates while we were still actively eating--without asking, "Are you finished?" "Can I clear this?" or "Would you like a to-go box?" It was just... "You're done, these are leaving now." We were there for less than 45 minutes, left about 15 minutes before closing, and spent over $200 (not including the tip). With so many options in Chicago, I don't see myself coming back here.
