The moment you walk in, it smells like what I imagine heaven smells like -- warm chocolate, sugar, nostalgia, all of it. The selection is huge: fancy boxed chocolates, classic bars, ice cream, and of course the famous sponge candy. Everything is displayed beautifully, and the whole shop has that charming, old‑school Buffalo feel. Staff were friendly and welcoming, happy to answer questions and let us browse without pressure. My friends absolutely loved the sponge candy, and watching them experience it for the first time was half the fun. Fowler's is a Buffalo classic for a reason.

I walked around and didn't notice any plant based, allergy free options but that doesn't mean there aren't any, I just didn't see any as I made my walk through. What I did notice is that chocolate is ridiculously expensive and with all that I've learned about chocolate, I can't help but wonder if it's even chocolate. I didn't ask either... all I know for sure is that everyone says this place has the best chocolate in town so I'm here buying a few basket stuffers. Before coming here, I stopped at Fowler Chocolates around the corner and no one was there so this place must be the place to buy chocolate. I watched the ladies at the registers ask everyone before me if they were rewards members and when they said no, they asked if they'd like to be. They forgot to ask me though. I overheard someone say it was 10 percent off today, must've been for members only, I didn't get a discount. I will be enjoying my dark chocolate tonight though, thank you Wahl's.

I guess there was a fire in a store close to them, then they moved. They are actually on Genesee and not on Union. As soon as I found that they were still in business, I ran there as fast as I could. I am in the process of building my mold collection. All four walls (and a little alcove) are lined with molds (of which I'm sure, some change for the season/holiday). There is even a section with a couple of boxes of molds that are on sale. Molds range from $1-up. With most being around $2.50. They carry Merkin chocolate at VERY good prices. Along with almost anything else you would need for candy making. Their oils are wonderfully priced, as are their boxes and wrap, and foils. It really is a one stop shop. A MUST if you are a candy maker! Best chocolate and nut prices I've seen! Can't wait to go back for more molds and other accessories.

We ended up getting Buffalo chicken sausage and beef on weck sausages, both were great. Also got a stuffed hot pepper thing which was awesome, and Allen burgers which we didn't try yet. The grocery store also has many unique items like locally made foods and specialty goods. They had a ton of employees working which was great because everything moved fast. Their sausage special this week was taco sausage for $2.99 a lb. So I had to try it.... Real good. The store is always crowded but you can get fast service at the meat, deli and cashiers. Parking lot is small but people are in and out so fast that I've never had a problem getting a space. The store is kinda small and located right in the middle of a neighborhood. Their homemade Polish sausage is so good, reminds me of my childhood. Cold cuts are sliced per order and better prices than any chain grocery store. I recommend the drive if you have never been there.
