Alethea's is named for the great grandmother of the current owners who started making candy in Greece over a century ago. The current shop is located in a charming, historic house in Williamsville - everything is made on the estate. Alethea's has an outstanding selection of icre cream and chocolates. We opted for the two-scoop almond butter toffee sundae which has vanilla and chocolate ice cream infused with almond butter toffee crumbles from the chocolate store. Drizzled in home-made choclate and caramel sauces and topped with freshly whipped cream, the ABT sundae is a decadent tribute to the fine art of creamery perfection. On our way out, we bought a pound of a Buffalo staple - chocolate covered sponge candy. Alethea's is a must-stop for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Turns out, I've been missing out on one of the greatest sweets ever invented. A quick search led us to Alethea's Chocolates, and wow... if chocolate heaven exists, I just found the front door. It's part Chocolate Wonderland, part 1950s Ice Cream Parlor, and 100% worth the stop. We were greeted by Sharon, who handed us a sample of vanilla fudge (amazing!) and pointed us straight to the sponge candy. And if you've never had it -- think caramel, honey, and toffee having a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth baby. I'm team dark chocolate, but you can't go wrong either way. Sharon was a total sweetheart -- 72 years young and clearly loving her "pretty sweet gig." She even let me take her photo for this review! Before leaving, I peeked into the old-school ice cream parlor next door -- old fashioned table & chairs, vintage charm, the whole vibe. I didn't get ice cream this time (I had a date with Rosie's Handcrafted Ice Cream later), but I'm definitely coming back. If you love chocolate, nostalgia, and a little sugar-induced happiness -- this place is a must-visit. Alethea's made me believe in love at first bite.

They do sell bulk candy from the book as well, which is priced per pound. There was one associate in the shop when we stopped in. She was friendly and greeted us. We walked around enjoying all the sugar treats and reading all the fun novelty candy wrappers. This would be a good spot to try and find a good for someone that's a candy lover or has a specific kind of candy they enjoy, so you can get it in bulk for them. Overall: B Sweet toothers rejoice in the sugary goodness. Prices are a tad high, but loving the novelty.

They sold butter beer, which any Harry Potter fan would know of. It's alcoholic too, so you'll have to show your ID if you don't look your age. They also had two tables of gummies and one table entirely of chocolate. I didn't try the chocolate, but I tried every one of the gummies they offered. I still found sour belts to be my favorite though. But be creative and try their white Russian gummy and the margarita gummy. As for their packaged candy, IT'SUGAR offers plenty too. They offer Japanese snack packs, jumbo sized popular candy, and kinky themed candy. The extra large rice crispy treats caught my eye. It was large enough to be used as a birthday cake! They also sold super sized pink starburst that only contained the pink ones. About time starburst figured out that people only like the pink one.
