Four days before Easter and yes, the line was long. Everyone getting candy for their family and children's Easter baskets. I walked around and didn't notice any plant based, allergy free options but that doesn't mean there aren't any, I just didn't see any as I made my walk through. What I did notice is that chocolate is ridiculously expensive and with all that I've learned about chocolate, I can't help but wonder if it's even chocolate. I didn't ask either... all I know for sure is that everyone says this place has the best chocolate in town so I'm here buying a few basket stuffers. Before coming here, I stopped at Fowler Chocolates around the corner and no one was there so this place must be the place to buy chocolate. I watched the ladies at the registers ask everyone before me if they were rewards members and when they said no, they asked if they'd like to be. They forgot to ask me though. I overheard someone say it was 10 percent off today, must've been for members only, I didn't get a discount. I will be enjoying my dark chocolate tonight though, thank you Wahl's. read more

Stopped in here for the famous Loganberry Sponge Candy, a Buffalo favorite. The staff were very nice and friendly on this visit. I even got to try a sample of the peanut butter sponge clusters before purchasing which was great. The loganberry sponge is good but it tastes more like a raspberry to me than the traditional loganberry. It was still good and their sponge candy is some of the best I've ever had. It's perfectly sliced and covered on every corner so there are no dry spots. Very good production on the candy pieces. read more

Avoid shipping! I sent a package as a gift. It showed delivered by USPS, but was not. No evidence of delivery on cameras. Customer service was very unhelpful. Initially, they sent me the wrong tracking number for a different package and told me to just contact USPS. They didn't offer to help at all. Even if it was USPS error, they use them as their shipping partner and should have some ability to help. I was not the recipient or the sender so I'm very limited on how I can contact USPS. I have ordered from Wahl's Candies any number of times for hundreds of dollars. I ordered in December 2025. My order was shorted 1 pound of dark chocolate sponge candy. I called the store numerous times and was given the "run around" and then promised a refund for the 1 pound of dark chocolate sponge candy. The refund has never been issued -- as promised. I will no longer order anything from this business and will encourage anyone else not to deal with them. read more

Stopped in this past Saturday, to check out their loganberry sponge candy and wasn't disappointed. Cute fall decor when you walked in, and the win was being able to sample, prior to purchasing. If you live local in the area, and are a fan of loganberry, like I am; highly recommend to stop in and try some, you won't be disappointed. They sell it by the pound, which is perfect for a treat. Stopped in on Valentine's Day morning. I was a little nervous figuring the place might be out of control. There was plenty of counter help! I was never here before and the place is immaculate. The candies are displayed like fine jewelry and just beautiful. I only needed a small chocolate heart and the helpful gal was very nice and wrote the name carefully, showed it to me and packaged it up beautifully with strings and pretty paper. The whole process took under 10 minutes and I was back on my way to work. I'm definitely stopping back to pursue the chocolates and pick up a few pieces for myself. read more

On our way home from a snowy stroll at Stiglmeier Park, we noticed Wahl's and saw it was open. I have never heard of Wahl's before, and decided to stop to treat my son to some chocolates after our walk. Wahl's was mostly chocolates, no fudge or ice cream, or many other candy or gift options. The store was bright, with enough room to spread out from the couple other patrons. My son selected a couple chocolate hearts, each $1.65, and a box of peanut butter filled hearts, which was $10.99. I love a good cream-filled chocolate, and asked at the counter if I could "pick just a few cream chocolates for a little box to sample." The counter person said, "Well, I can't put it in a box, " stared a moment, then said, "I can put them in a bag." My question wasn't really about box vs. bag, but I said sure. I started to say which chocolates I wanted, and she said, "Wait a sec, I have to write this down." So instead of just putting my selections from the display case into a bag, she wrote each one down. Then she went out back to get them, even though the chocolates appeared to be in the case at the counter. I guess the case is just for show? This would be a cumbersome hassle, if it was busier. She came back with my bag and said, "we don't have any cherry cream dark," and headed to the register. I asked if there was milk, and she perturbedly went back to get it. We rang out, and our bill came to just over $19. So my four little cream chocolates were like five bucks? Steep, so I was hoping they'd be excellent. We got back in our car, to enjoy our sweets on the ride home. My son wolfed his chocolate hearts. My cream chocolates were okay, the dark orange being the best of the strawberry, cherry, and that vanilla I picked. But they weren't exceptional, nothing I would go out of my way for, especially with the high price tag and odd, lackluster counter service. Just up the road on the corner of Losson and Union is a Fowler's. Next time we need a post-Stiglmeier chocolate-fix, we'll try there. read more

I placed an order about a month before Easter and received it promptly. 12 boxes were wrapped beautifully---but not labeled as to their contents and they were all different. I called to see if there was some marking hidden and was told I needed to open each box to find out what was inside. I received a bunny with a missing ear with no response from my e-mail to customer service. The creamsicle fudge was lumpy. I could have used a replacement of a dozen flat, empty, boxes and wrapping paper so that I could repackage my gifts so that they did not look regifted after I had to open and reseal them. I would have liked a replacement lollipop rather than a disappointed little girl.The chocolate products are good but they need work on customer service and packaging. So sad to see this business going downhill. read more

I love everything about this store. The chocolate is the best I ever had. My mother used to get her chocolates from Wahls. Ever since I started getting my chocolates from Wahls, I can't even eat other chocolates. Maybe the price is a little high but everything is expensive these days and their candies are worth the extra money. The employees are always nice to me when I go in. They even wrap the chocolates. When I was out of town I ordered and had it delivered. There was a mistake but they took care of it right away with no problem. Definitely recommend this store. read more

Stopped into Wahl's today, with my daughter, to do a little Easter shopping for her children, and my grandchildren. When you first walk in there is a number roll (like at a deli counter) where you can grab a number, at anytime. Some people take one immediately upon entering the store, I choose not to, as I do not know how long I will be looking around and shopping. So, 40 minutes later or so, we finish picking our selections and head to the counter for check out. We picked a number at this time and wait for our number to be called..... well when they call your number it is " 50 or lower" and so on. Not only did they TWICE take 2 people who walked up after us, with lower numbers to cash out first, the counter person packing my hollow forms, packed them tight in a box that they were too large for and taped the top shut. Lousy way to check people out and some of the counter help not the best to be in that position, with the public. Needless to say, I will NO longer visit that establishment.... back to Watsons ONLY...... they are so wonderful with the whole experience! read more

Probably some of my favorite candy in Buffalo. I have given it to family and others and it is always well received. They carry a wide selection from the basics of dark/milk/orange/sugar free chocolate, but also tons of different items in their display case and featured at the holidays. If you are buying for Christmas/Easter, etc, I recommend going early because they often sell out of certain shapes or designs. I was there the Tuesday before Easter and they were already sold out of almost all white chocolate and many of the other milk/dark/orange Easter molds. The chocolate is rich, creamy, and not too sickeningly sweet or artificial. I love the Peanut butter filled items, and the coconut or peanut patties. They have lots of thematic things so you can find something as a treat for new parents, grandparents, teachers, doctors, sports fan, etc. They also carry some small gifts. I find their prices at the holidays and year round very reasonable for the quality and compared to other candy shops. Staff is always friendly, helpful, and prompt. Growing up in Buffalo, we all have our favorite neighborhood candy stores. Wahl's was it for us! As a young girl, I can remember all the cool chocolate figurines my parents bought for our Easter baskets. My favorite was their Cupie Doll! I love their sponge candy and prefer the milk chocolate covered, although the dark is just as tasty. I now live in California and call them to place my orders each year. They also have fabulous creamy orange chocolate flats. They are family owned and have been around since 1938!
