Recently took my cat in for a visit and the doctor was nice. The staff OK I guess but we don't all have to love our jobs right? My biggest issue was a bottle of joint supplements that I was charged $46 for that I could buy for $17 on chewy and being charged almost $83 for a 6 pound bag of cat food that I can buy for $45 online. Also, I suspect the prescription medication they gave. My cat was incredibly overpriced. Just be careful watch what you're buying at this place. read more

Our dog would've been 14 in Feb & was put to sleep last night. The staff was nothing short of amazing. They got us in same day, was compassionate & kind. They gave our dog treats prior & it was a peaceful transition. Our hearts are broken- but I appreciate the staff who gave us time- as well as the doctor. The irony is that I think this is a quality Vet Clinic, but I wouldn't recommend it. Like everyone is saying, they are over-booked. Look elsewhere if you're looking for a new Vet. Recently they let me in, and I've been with them for a long time. I had a visit where they asked me to come back in 4 weeks. I call back and they basically said "look for another vet, we have a huge waiting list even for current clients". So don't waste your time here, find another vet. I think the doctor is a quality doctor. I do have an issue with how they try and push services/procedures. Like my last visit I was pushed to go to a heart specialist. Why? That sounds expensive. And the prescription food scam is annoying. Where they give you a prescription for a crappy food like Royal Canin (stuff is all corn and rice) which they sell at the clinic. Or if you get it off of Chewy, they make you come in every several months for a visit to renew the prescription. TOTAL SCAM. read more

They are definitely cheaper than most other vets in the area and the care provided has been satisfactory. However, since COVID started there has been a noticeable decline in service. They are still operating curbside only which was understandable early on but is a bit excessive at this point. You can go to a stadium with tens of thousands of people, but the lobby at a vet office is too risky? Expect a minimum of 5 phone calls back and forth with the front desk and veterinarian. Additionally, getting an appointment is borderline impossible now. Again, this was not a problem at all pre-COVID but now there is a minimum 30-day delay. This is fine for things like vaccinations but most other problems need more immediate attention. I called because my dog's nose was bleeding and was basically told to get lost. Bottom line- they are fine for things like getting prescriptions filled and routine vaccinations, but for pretty much any other issue don't even bother. read more

I cannot say enough nice things about Parkview. They have accommodated my very high anxiety dog many times. Yes, you may have to wait for an appointment, but I haven't encountered another place that doesn't have a wait list at the moment. Typically I get an appointment the same or next day after being put on the wait list at Parkview. My dog is "a little crazy" but they always take such great care of her. I never question her care when she is with them. Every doctor explains everything throughly so that I can understand it. Been coming here since I was 17 years old, I am 33 years old now. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME THE POINT OF A VET THAT YOU CANT VISIT WITHIN THE MONTH !?!? This place used to feel great, I came here and felt like my pets were genuinely cared for. Now, you can't even get help when it's actually needed. Joke of a business. I truly don't see the need of a vets office that just grooms and cuts nails with a month booking in advance. My dog just needs to be looked at. Last time this happened I went to gasseau (sp) and was offered to walk in same day, just had to show up and wait a few hours , not a big deal. Parkview provides great care for my cat. My only concern is even before covid hit there is always a 2-3 week waiting period to my vet into the vet. On several occasions I've had to take her to urgent care because they were booked I called today and it will be 30 days before I can get my cat in. The response I got was I could always find an urgent care vet. This has got to be THE worst animal hospital in Michigan. I would give negative stars if I could!! Already dealing with their computer system being down for 2 weeks...yes, 2 weeks, my family came in with the heart wrenching decision to put down our dog that was in pain and dealing with severe medical issues and my daughter was already sobbing. The doctors refused to euthanize the dog, because it was somewhat young, stating we should spend thousands of dollars to try to keep the dog alive with surgery that would mean continual treatments with absolutely no guarantees. After making them sit for a half hour (giving my daughter false hope) my family left. Unfortunately I was out of town while this was happening and was not able to assist. I'll be seeking legal opinion when I get back to town and will NOT being taking my other dog there again!!! Avoid like the plague. Follow up - we ended up taking our dog to another vet on Hoover and 13 Mile. The surgery we were being quoted as $3,000 at Parkview ended up being only $700. The surgery was performed and our dog, a month and a half later, is a happy and healthy dog again! We have found our new vet! read more

This place is a big rip off! They wanted to charge me over $860.00 for my Yorkies dental work and tried to say it's that high because of anesthesia, X-ray's and antibiotics. I called another animal clinic and they only charge around $200.00 to $300.00 for the same exact work. Please do your pocket a favor and take your animals to a place that won't take advantage of you and your love for your animal. This place is disgusting and I hope they feel ashamed to rip people off like that. I have taken our pets to Parkview for many years but NEVER again! We stopped having our pets groomed here when picking up our dogs my son was looking thru the glass waiting for his dogs to be brought out and saw an animal kicked. We continued with the vet but only if we were allowed in the Exam room the entire time. Then while talking to the vet I was informed the vets work/practice at Parkview after school so they can move to a permanent vet practice. This past Saturday June 5th 2021 I was taking our dog in for a 3:00p nail trim at 3:20pm I called to tell the it was 100 degrees outside and could they at least take my dog and the other dogs waiting in hot cars inside the bldg. the receptionist replied "don't you have air, we're busy". 45 minutes after my appointment time I drove off and came home. Called Parkview today to discuss the issue and got hung up on 2 different times by 2 different receptionist. This is how they treat a customer who has been doing business with them for 24 years 20 with a cat and 4 with our Corgi's. I have been taking my pet here for 17 years. On Monday morning about 9:30 AM my pet was having some kind of seizure and it was not stopping. I believed my pets life was in danger. I called Parkview and was told to go to emergency. They did not say bring your pet in now but gave me numbers to other places. 17 years of taking my pet to Parkview and she was just brushed off and told to go elsewhere. They only get a 1 star because they gave me numbers to other places. Well she died. Parkview disregard for my in her time of need is disgracefull. We had to put our cat down and the staff was amazing! They took the time to caringly explain and did not rush us in any way shape or form. They were so kind and caring and it made all the difference in the world. Our vet talked us through behaviors we might see with our remaining cats and wanted us to keep in touch. I brought my cat in on November 11 at 12:20PM for a scheduled visit. Due to their COVID-19 office rules (not state mandates), no owner can be in the building when their pet is being evaluated. And yes I arrived wearing a mask. I can understand keeping owners in their cars instead of the waiting room, but one or two owners in the building while their pets are being evaluated should not be a problem. Due to this, and general ineptitude, they missed a critical diagnosis. I mentioned my cat had been sitting in the litter box for longer than normal. 10 hours later I had to bring him to the ER due to a blocked urinary tract. Treatment required a 24hr stay at the ER. He was blocked while at Parkview and they missed it. They did offer to put a needle in his bladder for urine analysis. I declined this as it sounded painful, and it doesn't necessarily find crystals which would be in the urethra. This would be found by a less invasive x-ray. The ER recommended I see my regular vet the next day. I called up the morning of Friday November 13 and they said 12PM would work. About an hour later they called to cancel my appointment because "they weren't comfortable with me". They missed a critical diagnosis and now refuse to deal with me. This is entirely unprofessional and unethical behavior. My cat needs to see a vet and they don't seem to care. How many other missed diagnoses are happening at Parkview because pets are separated from their owners during medical evaluation? How many other pets and their owners are shunned by Parkview after voicing concerns over poor medical treatment? read more

I have been bringing my animals to Parkview for about 5 years now. It is a decent veterinary office with a short list if pros and cons. The initial wait once you arrive at the office is a challenge to get used to. We always seem to wait 30-60 mins to be seen, whether we show up 15 mins early or 15 mins late (we are usually early). Whether the lobby is empty or full when we arrive, the wait is always a reliable 30-60 mins. The staff does a good job though, and interacts well with animals. However they seem to push any and every possible procedure to increase revenue. You really need to bring your BS detector and ask the tough questions, like what is necessary vs simply recommended. Any procedures I have signed up for have been done competently and without incident. That being said the prices are reasonable compared to a lot of other places. And it is fairly easy to get an appointment. They even take walk-ins so long as you are willing to wait a REALLY long time. They also do a good job of mailing reminders when an animal is due for a vaccination or procedure. Pleaser note that Parkview is more of an animal "hospital" rather than a cozy little vets office. So take that into consideration when observing the stark and sterile decor. read more

BEWARE... They only want your money. These doctors work on commission. I'm very disappointed in this veterinary clinic. They are more concerned with selling you procedures than actually taking care of your pet. The bedside manner from three of the doctors is terrible. One wanted to withhold surgery until I had other expensive procedures done first. Another walked in and stated that she had bad news and more bad news. I recently lost another pet. This is NOT the appropriate approach for patient care. A third doctor argued with me that she didn't know my dog had surgery when it was IN the paperwork. After she found the notes, she reached down to feel my dog's scar and then looks at me telling me that she has mast cell tumors WITHOUT aspirating the area to test it FIRST. (I had another vet aspirate... NO MAST CELLS) I had a second opinion in my home state. They said that those additional procedures were unnecessary to have before surgery. I recently went for a third opinion (in state) and this doctor told me that the meds prescribed by Parkview causes elevated bile acids. Parkview keeps having me test my dog's bile acids over and over and over again... knowing the meds cause elevated results! If you love your animals take them somewhere else. read more

Dr. Wilborn is fantastic! She performed my dog's bladder stone surgery a few months ago. I am not sure Bea even realized what was done to her. Besides her belly being shaven, the sutures were virtually invisible. Top notch doctor! Took my dog in a few weeks ago for a bath, shave, and rabies shot. It took them 6 hours, they gave her additional shots we did not ask for (and charged us without asking if we wanted them). My dog came home with fleas, and a sliced foot from getting shaved - with no explanation. On a separate visit, we brought our dog in because she had a pink lump on her foot. It turned out to be nothing, but they told us it was cancer well before they got the lab results back, which caused us a lot of grief. Adequate, Commercial, Vet Care, Priced lower than many, at what cost- It is true that if you are a returning client, and your dog is sick, your pets continued care is not prioritized over their new business. Including puppy shots being done on time, simple eye infections, etc. Continual care is very questionable at this vet. Upon arrival for neutering day at 8:45, you could tell they push booking to the limit, the parking lot was extremely crowded. Beyond that, their phone system cannot handle the volume of people who are scheduled at the same time. You usually have to call 10-15 times before you can get service. If you step inside the building, because their phones aren't working, most likely they will ask you to leave or non verbally point you back to the door, instead of getting your information to check in or out. Puppy was given back to me after surgery with his bum covered in feces stains. Understandable he had a bowel accident, due to anesthetic and pain medicines. I had to clean his bum with a warm washcloth at home after surgery, which turned brown from the feces left on him. Wasn't sanitary and really leaves you wondering what happened in there?? How much can be blamed on the phones and the pandemic? Ask yourself that. It's not a bad place, but it's certainly disheartens you to see your puppy come out of a big event like neutering, covered in feces residue. How would you feel? read more

This is absolutely hands down the worst place to take your pet. I've had issues before but this last one did me in. My dog has anxiety when getting groomed. They prescribed a sedative to give at 7:30 am for a 9:20 appt. they always have him two to three hours tops. I had a family graduation party in wixom at 1:00. Figured I pick up newmee and head out. I call at 12:30. They hadn't even started. I waited 7 weeks for this spot and he was sorely overdue otherwise I would have just picked him up. By 3:45 I call again. Oh he's ready. No call no text no nothing. So for an anxious dog to sit there all fricking damn day shows you they don't care!!!! Needless to say I didn't get out to wixom. The party ended at 6:00. I got a list of my dogs shots and will Not be going back. Now to find a new vet. I don't even want to give one star. Wish there were minus ten!!!! read more

I wish I could give half-stars on these reviews, because I'd give Parkview a two and a half star rating. Parkview's reasonable prices literally saved my dog's life when he suddenly needed surgery. So for that, I am extremely thankful. We loved our previous veterinary hospital's friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, but their prices are too high (Warren Woods vet). Parkview has a large facility. Sitting in the lobby waiting for my dog to go in for surgery, I didn't feel good about leaving my pet there. The place is just cold and unfriendly. The atmosphere reminded me of waiting to get my shots in kindergarten at the clinic. In fact I think they have the same chairs! The staff wasn't very personal or inviting either. So far my dog is doing great after surgery, although his scar looks awful! They didn't do a very good job with the staples. They made a big flap with his skin. Also, they shaved A LOT off him. I realize that they need to shave around the area to keep it clean, but they did it excessively. They shaved up around his sides too. Certain dogs aren't meant to be shaved, and doing so can ruin their coat. In conclusion, I'm thrilled with Parkview's prices, but not with the facility. The staff is so-so. I don't think I'd euthanize a pet there. But right now, their prices work with my budget. read more

Like Emily, I would give this vet 2.5 stars. I had just adopted a 9 year old cat from a rescue and he needed shots. I'm originally from Sterling Heights and my "go to" vet that my family has been using for years is located out that way as well. I always swore that I would never go anywhere else. Swore it. But what was the point of putting a cat through 30 minutes of hell in the car for some quick and easy shots? So I began my search and turned to Yelp. I liked Marguerite's review (Emily's wasn't there yet). I checked out the vets website-prices were ON POINT. Called and made the appointment. I was able to get Bubbs in with no problems, many days and times were open--one point for Parkview. The facility is huge AND clean-another point for Parkview. Though I will say it's almost a little too sterile-not very welcoming at all. I waited for about 10 minutes before we were given a room, not bad... ...a nice vet tech came in and checked Bubb's weight...5 minutes later, in came the doctor... ...and this is where Parkview loses its appeal. They have several vets at this facility and I'm not sure which one we got, but this woman was so COLD. That is the only way to describe it. I had never adopted an adult cat before (who was overweight at that!) so I had a few questions about his health. She was super short with her responses and she made me feel stupid for asking some of the questions. Then she began to give me crap over what I was feeding my cats (mostly a dry diet - EXPENSIVE food- not crappy, grocery brands & a can of wet food as a snack.) She basically hinted that I was the one causing Bubb's weight problems. HELLO? Did you not LISTEN when I said I had JUST rescued him the week prior. Once I realized that I was not going to get any good advice out of this woman, I just let her do her thing. She gave him his shots and I was out. I had to wait 10-15 minutes for the bill to be ready which was annoying. Once I saw the total however, I was a little less annoyed. The prices on their website are legit, THEY ARE CHEAP-half star. Bottom line: go here if you need something simple (shots) or if you need the absolute lowest price. Note* I called my vet to see what his thoughts were regarding a cat's diet. He said wet food should be kept to a minimum because it destroys a cats teeth. When my mom adopted her cat and was forced to use the rescues preferred vet for its first checkup, that vet said the same. Apparently this is something that vets can't agree on. read more

Today my kitty was in pain. I called tons of Vets, all of the receptionists cold and distant and finally found parkview searching the internet. They had an appointment open this afternoon, and the receptionist cared and actually listened and answered all of my questions. I was greeted warmly, as soon as I entered. I did wait a little while longer to be seen (after my appointment time), and I didn't mind because I just wanted my pet to feel better, and understood that they were assisting other animals who needed care. The vet tech was awesome, and the Doctor's were extremely caring. My cat needed to go into sugery immeadiately-and they were more then patient and kind about talking to me about all the costs upfront...I told them what I could afford, and I could tell they really cared, and felt safe leaving my best friend in their care. It wasn't easy, but now my baby is home and on the road to feeling better. I plan to take her back in a month for a check up. read more

This is my backup vet if one of my pets falls ill and can't get in to see their normal vet (Madison Veterinary Hospital). Parkview almost always has immediate openings, with later hours than my normal vet (8pm vs 7pm). I recently had an incident where my 9 year old cat needed immediate attention (or so I thought). I was able to get my little friend in next day, as opposed to the myriad other vets I called that were booked out for weeks. Yes, the lobby feels impersonal- but you know what? I don't give a shit. I'm not there for the ambiance, I'm there to make sure my cat doesn't die. I can't say enough about the vet. She was understanding when I was on my cellphone listening to my boss rant about yet another work problem. She didn't seem to think it was rude (I felt awfully rude, even though there was no way I could hang up on the person who signs my paycheck), and gave me a few moments before coming back in to give me the run down of pricing for the diagnostics needed. When I nearly passed out (literally) while she was reading the prices and explaining the tests, she brought me water and a fruit roll up. When I asked her which tests were crucial, she candidly told me which ones would best determine my cats health- by only selecting a few of the tests, I slashed my cost by over half. And I *love* that they display their prices for basic services on their website- why should medical costs ever be a mystery? My only issue with the place was the suggestion that my 9 year old indoor-only cat get vaccinated same day that we were in there with a potential health concern. Let's focus on the problem at hand, get me out of there without passing out, and THEN maybe we'll talk about the validity of vaccinating my cranky old grandma cat. read more

On April 1, 2019 my dog possibly ate rat poison and when I called for a emergency visit they said they didn't have time to see me! I am a regular customer and was at the clinic last week for vaccinations and exam. It seems like a new doctor each time I go in. When they refused treatment I was shocked!! I will find another vet at this time. I suggest you think hard before trusting this place to do the right thing for your pet. read more

Every time I visit here with my 2 small dogs, I am very happy and pleased with the service. They are very honest and tell me what they would do if my dogs were their pets. Today, after my 6 lb chihuahua got a large piece of rawhide lodged in his throat, and yelping like someone was beating him, I called frantically to see if I could bring him in. Without hesitation they said bring him in right away. As soon as I got there, they took him over the counter straight back to see the vet. It turns out it was dislodged on the way there and he was fine. What should've and could've been an astronomical vet bill turned out to be completely free of charge because they were "just happy my baby was ok." That's what I call unbelievable service. read more

During this same visit the vet recommended I get my dog's teeth cleaned. I went to another vet and they told me they were shocked how nice my dogs teeth were and wanted to know what I did to keep them so healthy! I completely have lost trust with these guys. They appear to be more interested in making money than providing good service. Going to a new vet from now on. Also, I called these guys when my dog needed stitches (6PM at night, two hours before close) and the refused to do them because the vet, "didn't feel like it," so I had to pay a ton of extra money to go to an emergency vet. Parkview is a medium-sized animal hospital with good facilities and nice people. We recently had our cat front-declawed here; we chose Parkview as they do the laser surgery as opposed to the traditional sort, and I must say I am so grateful that the technology now exists. No temperament change from our new kitty after the surgery, nothing bad at all. The staff seems to have been very good to him. My one complaint about Parkview is the lack of clarity on the prices. Was originally quoted around $130 for the declaw, saying that it could go up depending on if he was up-to-date on all shots, etc. They did not mention that extended anesthesia (or something?) that seemed like a very good option was another sizeable chunk, Elizabethan collar would be another $10, etc. to total over $200. This was doable for us, but I would have preferred more clarity during the initial call. Good place. Clean. Recommended. read more

I've been using Parkview for many years. The last 2 times I called them I had an injured cat. When I called to see if they could see him they said "no, sorry we're all booked. I said how about tomorrow? No we're actually booked til the end of the month. Twice they did this. So what's a vet for? I can't preschedule my cats illness/injury! They just say sorry! Can't help you! I had to call around a find another vet that would squeeze us in. To bad the one that we have used for 20 years can't treat sick animals anymore unless you schedule ahead! Good on pricing, bad on EVERYTHING ELSE... My wife took our 2 week old kitten (that we rescued from outside about 5days ago) to get antibiotic prescriptions. First, they wanted us to leave the kitten in the car to fill out paperwork (90 outside, imagine what the car is like). My wife wasn't having that though. Our main concern is to get antibiotics to clear up the upper respiratory infection so the kitten can eat food, you know, so she can live to see tomorrow, as she is underweight. But they wanted to hit her with all the extras.... Long story short...... meds that were sold to us were Expiring this month, which means it's been on the shelf for awhile.... blood was on the wall of room, dirty towels hanging on the hooks... gross/unsanitary.... Edit: I got more info from my wife when she came home. The kitten was taken by a nurse(?) to the doctor at some point in the back. No one ever introduced themselves or what they did there (like, "Hi my name is ___ and I am the ____ here"). I think they knew our kitten wasn't going to make it (spoiler)... at that was the point where they tried to sell everything in the book to my wife. When she wouldn't buy the expired meds a prescription was given. But that particular prescription was for the $55 version of a regular $15 antibiotic (we have purchased these items before in the past for other cats)... My wife came straight home from the clinic while this 2 week old kitten was wailing in pain. About 10 minutes after they were home she died in my hands. I was a customer of this place for many years, sadly over the years the care has gotten worse. The techs are the most heartless people I've ever met, and seems to get worse as time went on. The Dr's also have got worse! One told me I needed to give my cat antidepressants and keep him locked in a room for the rest of his life. All they care about is the money they make, they don't care about the pets health. Very rude and unprofessional. If you love your pet don't bring it here! read more
