When they did their earthquake retrofit, they also changed the front door so that it no longer includes a step. Parkview Market is now wheelchair accessible, and I kept my five-star promise. It does have a park view, as Golden Gate Park is technically across the street. However, the southeast corner of GGP has an apartment building, which takes up much of the view. As far as I know, it's the only legally occupied residence in the entire park. But Apartmentview Market and Bikeshopview Market don't have the same ring as Parkview. Long live George! Too bad peanut M&Ms cost way more than $1.25 now. read more

I literally never, ever write any reviews, even with negative experiences. But this I must. I was yelled at and cornered by (who is presume is) the owner to put down the later expiring milk I found further in the back because "someone has to buy the milk in the front that expires sooner". Why that had to be my problem, I don't know, but it's one thing to say what he said, it's another to repeatedly tell me that I *have* to buy the worse milk or get out. Edit: to add, for fairness, all other employees I've interacted with, especially later during the day, have been very friendly. Parkview Market is a pretty organzied, tight, store. wines, grocreries, microbrews, soft drinks, pops. are a reasonably priced. cheaper than "organic goods" down the block by a few pennies in comparable products. brew abita: "root beer (1.50) -with pure louisiana cane sugar, caramel color, root beer flavor, 38 gms of sugar, very sweet, root beer, other flavors lagg. 2.5 stars drips: overall very good products here, just a few miss the mark. read more

This place is fantastic. It may look like just any other corner store, but it's probably the cheapest place to grab beer or wine in the city that doesn't sell in bulk. Screaming deals on most of the stuff here. For reference, a six pack of Sharkinator (that name though) or Guinness is going to set you back 7 bucks. Some other stuff hits about 6 dollars for a pack. Additionally, the hours are great. You can actually rely on this place for essentials in a pinch. Long story short, if you're in the neighborhood and need something last minute, this place is probably your best bet. read more

Best deals on beer in the city. And they run the gamut - all the way from dirt cheap twelve-rs of PBR to on sale Lagunitas or Prohibition Ale. They buy in bulk, store 'em in the basement and sell 'em cheap. Beer is about all I buy there, except for an occasional pint of reasonably priced ice cream - which they have many delicious varieties of, including soy, so I can't really comment on the wine, liquor or beef jerky, but they're so good at the beer that I don't go anywhere else. The owner and other workers are quick and extremely friendly. And what an idea: find good deals to keep prices reasonable (here they're amazing), maintain a clean store with quality products, and be nice. So simple, but so revolutionary in the world of booze shops. Cheers to Saba (the owner)!!! And for the drivers passing by, there is an often-open 20 minute parking spot right outside the door. This liquor store has beer that's cheaper than bottled water! Tall cans for $1.50! They also have great deals on six packs, etc. They have a great selection of basic grocery products. If you want a quick snack, ran out of soy milk, or you are suddenly in urgent need for toilet paper.. the corner store has you covered! i was very excited to find out they sell soy ice cream! If you live in the neighborhood and want to pick up a pint of soy ice cream to devour while watching your fav romantic comedy... come here! The guys that work there are extremely nice! They're open till 10 sunday-thursday and open till 12 on friday/saturday. There is a 50 cent charge to use your card so bring cash if you don't want to be charged. =) read more

With so many dilapidated, outdated, and poorly run liquor stores collecting dust and rust on so many of San Francisco's corner, it's a damn breath of fresh air to find one that is clean, friendly and has a good selection of food and beverages. This isn't Andronico's, so don't expect a huge selection, but they do carry some premium foods, like cookies, bread, snacks and whatnot. They've got a bit of organic stuff, a killer beer selection with prices that will beat even the biggest chains and a solid selection of wines at decent prices. Again, I'd recommend almost for the friendly service alone, and for anyone living in the Upper Haight/Cole Valley area, worth making your local spot. read more

This is not your average corner store -- Saba, the owner, has an eye for a good deal when it comes to wine. You will find a nice bottle here for dinner at home or when you need to bring something special to a party and not be disappointed. The place is immaculately clean which is all thanks to Saba ... it was nasty before he took over. Not the spot to do your everyday groceries of course but great for booze plus soft drinks, snacks & treats. They have frozen dinners, pet food, ready-made sandwiches, and the basic grocery store items. I'm very lucky to have one of the best corner stores in the city on my block! read more

Saba's store is one of the highlights of Cole Valley. I am afraid to move from my apartment in Cole Valley because I don't think I will ever have as good of a bond with my local corner store dude. Just a quick addition and a hearty 5-stars for the recent discovery (due in solely to my inattention) that Parkview has seriously killer beer prices. I picked up a case of one of my favorite brews for $25. Yea, you heard me... $25. This stuff goes for about $8 a six-pack at Andronico's, so we're talking a couple bucks less per sixer. They've got a decent selection here, so if you are in the area, it is worth a look to see if you have been overpaying for your beer elsewhere. read more

In a city full of liquor stores that don't post prices on their beer so as to ease the customer into overpaying, this place is a diamond in the rough. I immediately found Parkview when I moved to the neighborhood and I m damn glad I did. This place has THE BEST beer prices in the city hands down, and the guys who work here are super friendly and cool. In the end, with beer prices like this they could be complete asses and I would still get my beer here but the friendly convos add to the experience. I used to find all these miscellaneous household goods, personal products, and items of food labeled with generic, orange price stickers scattered about my former apartment in Cole Valley. Having just moved in, I wasn't sure where it all came from but wherever it was, I thought it pretty hilarious that one of my roommates was paying absurdly inflated prices like a $6 for a stick of deodorant that probably wasn't even being manufactured anymore. Pretty soon afterwards, I discovered Parkview around the block and it all made sense. She was doing all her grocery shopping here! How one would be able to survive solely on a limited supply of processed foods--Oscar Mayer bologna, Pringles, frozen burritos--was beyond me. On the other hand, there was a period of time that I found myself getting by on a diet consisting mainly of the liquor store's more typical fare of cigarettes and booze. But whatever we determined our necessities to be, we both threw away a lot of money here and there would have been a lot more to waste had the store not closed as early as it did, at 11pm. As a frequent shopper, the guys who worked here got to know me pretty well. And while I'm not sure that was such a good thing, they had mastered a perfect balance between friendly familiarity and straight-forward business sense that didn't leave me feeling more of the alcoholic than I already was. Now if only they delivered, then we'd all be in the poor house for sure. read more
