Made a reservation on Open Table for a Thursday night without any issue. They don't have a huge menu, and were out of a couple items. Not a problem for us! I started out with a Whiskey Fizz cocktail, which I completely expected to be in a champagne coupe. I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation and size. It was light and refreshing! We had the fried cauliflower appetizer, Gobi Manchurian. It was REALLY GREAT. I am NOT team cauliflower. #teambroccoli And quite honestly, I devoured it. For our entrees, my husband had the Zucchini Thai Peanut Noodles with Chicken and I had the peach and prosciutto pizza. My husband enjoyed his dish and I enjoyed mine- though I think they were a little heavy with the goat cheese. The pizza absolutely had the right amount of peaches and prosciutto, great crust and perfect amount of balsamic. It would have been only better with less goat cheese. I think it had a pound! I actually wondered if they covered their food cost with all that cheese!? Anyhoooo- I digress. Super friendly server and hostess, very clean restaurant space. This really is the place the locals are at. Many restaurants in Newport, especially the one's on Broadway claim to be the spot that the local's hang out. I have found this to be only partially true. Most probably have more tourists than locals. Parlor really is the spot that locals come by after work. Not sure if its because its the last bar on Broadway but when I went in everyone seemed to know each other. It was nice to see a diverse crowd. Now for the actual review. I have passed by this place no less than a 100 times. Never actually wanted to go in but I had to check another one off my list so decided to go on a rainy Tuesday night. I sat down at the bar and ordered a beer. They have 7 or 8 drafts on hand. They don't have a crazy amount that some of their peers on Broadway have but its not bad. Prices were on the lower side as well. $6 for a Switchback. Ordered the burger and it was awesome. The beef was really juicy and the bun was toasted perfectly. The potato wedges were really crispy and well seasoned. If you are on a date don't eat the pickles though. It will give you dragon breath afterwards. All in all really fantastic. I left half a potato wedge so that I wouldn't feel bad about over eating. But I really cleared the plate. Bar tender was really friendly and attentive. Overall a really good spot. As a vegetarian I was so happy to find this gem of a place in Newport. In a crowd of seafood places finally came a place with a wickedly modern and fresh menu, seasonal delights, vegan and vegetarian friendly. I had a super healthy and delicious quinoa salad with cheese and all these other things i can't even remember now. Appetizer was the gobi manchurian. My brother had a classic burger. I felt like i was eating at a Brooklyn restaurant. A restaurant has to cater to different types of customers - I really appreciated the chefs innovative approach. I decided to check the Parlor out after seeing so many good reviews. Our waitress was great and super friendly. The appetizer and drinks were great! I got the Cajun salmon wrap and I personally loved it! My husband got the steak with asparagus, and a twice baked potato. The asparagus was good. But the potato tasted like there wasn't any seasoning. It tasted like instant potatoes. The steak also tasted bland like there wasn't any seasoning. That's the reason for the 4 stars. Went with 9 other friends and we all wanted to try the Lumpia but the waitress said "they are being rolled and frozen for tomorrow, and if we fry them now they will fall apart/unwrap!!" I'll start off by saying that the service, location, and interior decorating of this place were totally fine. Unfortunately, the food was literally terrible. We got the spring rolls, the glass noodles with chicken, and the parmesan truffle fries. All of them tasted like they were purchased from the frozen isle of the grocery store, and were reheated. I'm pretty sure that the chicken must have been grilled and bagged before reheating. We also got two cocktails, including the spicy pineapple margarita and the Gin Spritzer. They were nothing to write home about. The Gin spritzer tasted like they forgot the Gin. Ultimately, we decided not to eat the food, and moved elsewhere for another dinner. Visited the Parlor on a busy NFF weekend. We had reservations for a late dinner and did not realize that a ticketed show was happening at the same time. Went there the other night when me and girlfriend were in town for a race the next day. After our first choice was a no go due to no reservations we said screw it since this place has good reviews. We called and made reservations, person on the phone sounded like they don't take to many reservations We got there a little early and walked in, and didn't really know what to do, there wasn't a hostess table or any signs that said seat yourself so we stood there for a minute like idiots lol, a bartender/ server came over and asked if we were all set after telling her we had a reservation she led us over to a booth with a big U seat and big table, pretty cool. The interior atleast on the bar side was pretty cool, some TVs behind the bar with a bar top and the booths were against the wall on the other side of the bar so we could still see the TVs. The lights were dimmed but the lights were the Edison type bulbs, the interior was a country sheik. We placed our drink order after a couple minutes, It took a little while but like I said the bartenders are also the servers so she and the other one did as good a job as they could with a full bar and other booths. I ordered the chicken mac and cheese girlfriend got the harvest spaghetti shrimp dish. Mine was pretty good, only fault was the chicken, some grizzle on the chicken. Other then that was yummy, cheesy and filling. My girlfriends pasta was good but the cherry peppers in the dish made it almost inedible cause it was so HOT! Reason for 3 stars, service could have been faster, food was good but the prices were kind of high. Mac and cheese was 17$ and pasta was 18$ I think. Pluses, good beer selection and the menu is a small menu but the food is made from scratch and the dishes are different, not what you would expect from a place like this. The glass noodles were good and it filled me up. I wish it could be a little more spicey (I should have requested it). It was $9 extra for chicken, which was not worth it. That should have been the standard. The ribeye had char in the name, but they went over board. Every bite tasted like it was burnt. They have 3 entrees and you would think the kitchen staff would have perfected each of them. We loved the remodeling of the restaurant but it will be a while before we go back. Guys, the kitchen at Parlor has been absolutely killin' it lately! I used to think of Parlor as a bar first and kitchen second... especially since they are one of the best venues in town to check out live music. But this food they have been turning out deserves to be called out for its deliciousness. These are some of the best dishes in Newport - I love the eclectic mix of cuisines they have going on. It's a small menu, but the options are all pretty great. Even the pizzas are fantastic. Most recently I've been obsessed with the Grilled Curry Chicken wrap. It has grilled chicken, curry aioli, chourico/apple stuffing, cranberry compote, and baby arugala. So. Good. All in all, Parlor has remained one of my favorite places in Newport. For drinks. Based on the reviews we had dinner at the Parlor earlier this week. We left very disappointed in our entrees. I had their steak which was advertised at 10oz of ribeye. The steak was so thin it appeared like a breakfast steak - it couldn't have been more than 4oz. If I had a scale I would have weighed it. My husband had an entree he didn't care for either. What a great find where there was something for everyone - which with my picky family is saying a lot! The new bartender made a special drink with fresh watermelon juice, cucumber, mint, and gin - so refreshing! I had the lumpia (Filipino egg rolls), my husband had Buffalo-bbq hybrid wings, and we split lemongrass potstickers. My kids had the cheeseburger sliders and it came with wedge fries which they're normally "anti", but they ate all of them and even argued over the last one. (I'm a dog and that's how we do these things.) Wow....my mind has changed after my visit last night. It's really a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. We tried each of the small plates. Fantastic!
