Ambience pretty good . Three stories ! Hard to find parking nearby that is not paid. We were able to get right in without a wait . Clam chowder was okay taste with the smallest clams pieces ever ! Maybe we got the end of the batch ? My friends soda tasted like plastic . They replaced it and same issue - very odd and off putting :/ service was good for most part but wouldn't come back based on the weird tasting soda .

I have to say i love this locations. I ordered tge steak and noodles. Its a seasonal item but very delicious. Also we ordered calamari. Veey tasty. Our server Jean was incredible from start to finish. From the service and the timing to check on us throughout the whole meal. She never skipped a beat and had a great frie day presence and knew her items from tge menu when hearing her talk to other tables. The food is always consistent and full of flavor and fills you up. Its great for couples and groups. It was busy tonight but we got right in. They have 3 foors and we're on the top floor which was nice.

Good comfort food, good drinks, and a humongous menu! This place has 3 floors and a full bar. Service is great. All of our dishes were good. The burgers could be a little better but it does the job.

Came here with a work group and were seated up on the second floor. I got the scallops dinner plate and was very glad I did! There were a good number of scallops done just right served with spinach and rice, so I got my veggies in too! Several of the other people in the group were a bit less impressed with their food. The service was at best alright. I'm not sure if it was because we were a big group and I believe (though don't have the receipt in front of me) that gratuity was already included but it was rather a challenge to get the attention of anyone for drink refills and such. Even though there were multiple floors it didn't seem that busy. That said it was good for the group, they didn't have much trouble accommodating us and there is a very large menu. I'd go back to try more things. but perhaps with fewer people next time.

The food here was absolutely amazing. The coconut chicken and lobster fries were an amazing start to our meal, and the portions were huge. The burger was also very flavorful, and the chowder was the best we've ever had. Our server Joe was very friendly and helped us select our food choices. To end on a great note we had the banana Francesca dessert, and it was phenomenal. It was recommended by our server and it did not disappoint! It was such a rich and spiced banana dessert and it hit the spot.

Come here whenever we go to Newport for the wings. Bone In or boneless. Boneless are huge. Best around. Always try to sit at the bar. Has three floors . Have only been at 1st Fl and 2nd Fl bar. Sticky wings have a unique sweet favor and sesame seeds.Boneless buffalo are insanely good.

This place was exactly what we needed it to be:a hearty pub style restaurant with incredible food, service and history. I loved reading more about the history on the menu and the lobster bisque ($24) was so incredible it was one of the highlights of my visit.

Food/Drinks: This place is my favorite restaurant to eat at in Newport. They have such a variety of items to choose from on their menu, and I have yet to have something that I don't like. I am obsessed with the calamari pizza, and I don't think any other restaurant offers this. It's delicious, crunchy, and tasty. The loaded lobster nachos are to die for, and although I didn't include a picture, their coconut shrimp is also one of my favorite items on the menu. Food-wise, this place does it for me every single time, and their portions are shareable. Now, the drinks. Usually, a place will be great with food and lack with their alcoholic drink options..not this one. Their martinis are delicious and strong. Their margaritas are also just as strong and all worth the price. They have a variety of other drinks, and so far, every drink I've gotten has been delicious. Location: This location is in the heart of Newport. It's pretty casual; most people dress either business casual or casual, very popular, mainly in the summer. This location has lots of seating and is first come, first serve. It's perfect for any type of occasion or just to grab a meal with family and friends. The only downside of this location is the parking, as it does not offer valet or private parking. However, knowing the area, you can usually find street parking close by with a little walk. You won't have an issue finding a spot except on those crazy summer days when there's an event in Newport. Service: Service has always been great. I have not had any bad servers as of yet, and all my in person experiences have been positive. I will not take stars for this, but I must say that I have tried calling in to do takeout, and during certain seasons, they do not do takeout at all, even on weekdays when it's a bit slower. Although the servers in person are pretty nice, I have gotten rude servers over the phone. I won't take any stars away because, in general, I really do like this location. This is definitely a must-try in Newport!

Stopped in from the cold to rest from lots of walking. We went to the 2nd floor bar because the 1st floor was full. We tried the Siamese Chicken Wings, and were very pleasantly surprised. Fried crispy very large chicken wings (I'm not usually a fan of the extra large wings, but these were cooked crispy so NO flappy soft chicken skin- yay!) The sauce was sweet and they were completely covered in sesame seeds...so much so that me and friend kept telling each other that we had sesame seeds stuck to our lips...very sticky. We couldn't finish the generous portion so we took the rest back to our hotel and ate them late night...and they were even good cold...like cold fried chicken. Highly recommend. The old fashion cocktail I ordered was below average...regular maraschino cherry, cubed ice, a little disappointed by the drink given the quality of the chicken wings. One throwback bit of ambience that I did enjoy, and that fit right in to the ambiance was the bar TVs were showing the "fireplace channel"...oddly it did make it feel more cozy.

This restaurant is a staple of Newport for many reasons. They're known for their large menu, but also for their exceptional culinary achievements. People sometimes say that if a restaurant's menu is too big, the food might not be good, but this place defies that line of thought. Beautiful ambience, dutiful waitstaff and amazing food are in store for you if you come here. This time I started out with their shrimp and scallop scampi. Seafood was all high quality and excellently cooked. The sauce has changed since I've been here last; very heavy on the wine flavor and less garlicky. Also, they're heavy handed with the butter, but you can't taste it right away because the strong wine flavor masks it. It's very delicious, but keep in mind that the amount of butter may weigh heavy on your stomach. Later on I got the Rasta Pasta, which is one of their more popular dishes and it's easy to see why. Absolutely amazingly balanced and delicious. Chicken and shrimp were great, sun dried tomatoes made the dish very savory, the cheese sauce was bold and flavorful without being too heavy. The bell peppers made the dish taste almost like pizza in pasta form. Even with all the bold flavors, this dish was surprisingly light on my stomach in comparison to the scampi. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Consistently high quality food from people who definitely know their way around a kitchen. This establishment is one of the kings of Newport for great eating. Long may it reign.

While visiting Newport, we wanted to sit and look out the Bay and have lunch. We went here on several locals recommending it. The Clam Chowder was good and the Libster Bisque was dismal at best (I can get better in STL) but the Fish and Chips were bland and had absolutely No Flavor. Prices were a bit steep as well. If we just would have walked a little further down the street we would have had the view we were looking for and the Food looked Amazing.

This was my last chance to have seafood before heading north and I'm glad we came to Red Parrot. Menu said the fish in the Fish and Chips was locally caught. It tasted fresh and was not breaded too heavily. It was served over a bed of fries, wait too many for me to finish. Though the cool dish at the table was the Calamari Pizza. It is a combo I don't think anybody knew we needed, expect for Rhode Islanders. I ate a few calamari off the pizza and it was the best calamari I think I've had because of how it was spiced. I would gladly return to Rhode Island for this culinary creation. Also at our table was the Clam Chowder and the Berry and Goat Cheese Salad. Both were also very good! I honestly did not what to expect since there are so many food options on Thames and you feel like you can walk into a tourist trap. Not at Red Parrot! Along with great food, we also got great service and a very casual environment to enjoy lunch.

The food at this place is absolutely not good I honestly would rather go to Wendy's then eat here it had absolutely no flavor it's over priced bland food when I left I literally started to get nauseous and throwing up in my mouth 0/10 would not come back here.

I went on a rainy Monday around noon and there was still a steady flow of customers. It seems to be a pretty popular spot. The staff is all very friendly. The soups were served to us immediately after paying. The New England Clam Chowder was good. Nice amount of clams and very creamy. I had never had Rhode Island Clam Chowder before and this seemed like the place to try it. The clear broth was surprisingly flavorful but I still prefer New England. My girlfriend and I ordered a good amount and the food came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the kung pao calamari. The squid was fried perfectly and having the sauce on the side was nice as it didn't leave the breading to get all soggy and I had control over how sweet it would be. The stuffed Quahogs tasted good but I feel like I tasted more of the stuffing over the actual shellfish. It still tasted good, but I feel like I should've gotten more shellfish. We were told they ran out of shells to serve them on so the presentation was off, but they were still tasty. The lobster rolls were both good. They were $27 which seems pretty steep to me but they were actually on the cheaper side compared to other places we saw around Newport. The lobster tasted fresh and the bread was good. They were solid lobster rolls. The food was all solid, but for the price I wasn't wowed.

The restaurant was packed, and since we didn't have a reservation, we ended up sitting in the bar area. Honestly, that wasn't a bad thing--the views of the sunset and the wharf were beautiful. The drinks came out quickly, although my cocktail had way too much citrus. The oysters arrived next, and they were fresh and delicious, so we were all feeling pretty good about the meal and looking forward to our entrées. Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. We waited an entire hour for our entrées to arrive, and the waitstaff wasn't very forthcoming with updates. We had to track someone down anytime we had a question or needed something, which became very frustrating. Once the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. Several of the dishes were extremely salty. I ordered the swordfish, which was slightly overcooked, and the vegetables were overwhelmingly acidic, as if an entire bottle of vinegar had been poured over them. They were also topped with a generous amount of capers, making the dish even saltier. Overall, it just wasn't enjoyable. I mentioned my concerns to our waitress, but unfortunately, she didn't seem particularly concerned. Hopefully, she passed the feedback along to the chef so some adjustments can be made. The beautiful waterfront setting and fresh oysters were definitely highlights which gained a star here but unfortunately, the long wait, lack of communication, and disappointing entrées overshadowed the experience.

The RI Food Fights TacoMania competition & tourist season starting to slow got us over the bridge to try early on a Saturday evening. Arriving just after opening, we had our choice of tables in an empty room. That was a good thing since, by the time we left, the place was jamming! The server, who was welcoming, enthusiastic about the menu & and handled the ever-growing crowd on his own, told us that we could always call ahead for a table. Good to know since we didn't see a way to reserve. The little place is comfy & lovely! The decor perfectly suits the Newport scene and includes a welcoming food bar area that would be perfect for enjoying their international tapa-like street-food inspired offerings. A small patio is available to overlook Memorial Blvd in nicer weather. While they do not have a liquor license, you are welcome to BYOB and we did, finding the $3 per person corkage fee very fair. Now, about the food... WOW! What a explosion of fun flavors! With choices of snacks from around the world, you can jump from one intense palate to another, over and over. Three of us shared five small dishes & one large and we loved them all. The Nduja Shrimp Dumplings were delicate and fresh and loaded with flavor. The tacos that we were here to judge were fantastic. The pork was juicy & flavorful, and, though we were afraid the vegetable tacos would be boring - they were anything but. We'd eat these all the time! Bravas Frites were a fun twist on traditional Spanish Patatas Bravas, using fries as a base rather than cubed potatoes. Again, delicious! But, our favorite of the small plates had to be the Brussel Sprouts. We almost didn't get them as they've been so over-done, but felt vegetable guilt & threw them in. OMG - the best prep of these tiny cabbages ever! Finally, the pièce de résistance was the Lobster Fried Rice - a perfect way to top it all off. Buttery, umami & loaded with chunks of fresh lobster meat, my mouth waters now just thinking it. So glad we finally stopped here. I should mention that after we ordered, our 5 appetizers arrived starting in 5 minutes and all were served within 10 minutes. We did screw up by forgetting we were at BYOB. OK - the killer - the food. Of the 5 appetizers we ordered only one was a winner! That was the Brussel sprouts which were outstanding and a large portion. All the other dishes were about the right size for sharing by 2. Realize they are striving for "fusion" but they missed it on the pulled pork dumplings. The lamb skewers were a struggle to eat - tough (and certainly could not be eaten off the skewers) - but the saving grace was the dipping sauce. The big failures were the prosciutto croquettes - a real mess with a sliver of meat on top of mainly onions - and OMG - the Korean chicken wings. The latter came slathered with a sticky and spicy, sweet, red sauce (too hot for my wife) and some sort of dipping sauce. A mess to eat. We had to request paper towels and dip in our water to clean up. Damages with tip was $90 and we only had a tea and sparkling water. Very fresh and honestly, very affordable for the aesthetic, quality, and taste. Plus the service is great. I've had their pastas, entrees, apps, pizza, and drinks and there is nothing you can go wrong with. My personal favorites is their kale salad, chianti marsala braised beef and mushroom tagliatelle. Again, the quality is great and everything is seasoned/ flavored well. Plus their pastas are homemade! They also give free bread, who doesn't love that? I cannot recommend this place enough. Perfect for a date night or night out with friends.

We loved the olives and the roasted beets! The whipped Gorgonzola was a perfect match for the beets, not overpowering at all. After much thought over the menu, I decided to go with the short rib. The short rib was not fatty and it was super tender. I was able to pull it apart easily with my fork. The mashed potatoes were great and complimented the dish with the short rib sauce. I wasn't a fan of the tequila drink that I ordered, but my glass of wine paired very well with the short rib.

They were closed until dinner time, so we went to walk around to browse at the shops nearby before coming back to try for dinner! It was pretty quiet when we went, so there were plenty of tables available. Service is slow here, even though there was only 3 other tables were dining at the same time. Multiple servers and staff were just on their phones doing nothing. Our food took a while, too! We had ordered the calamari ($17), clams linguine ($28), & the seared scallops ($38). Portions were okay... wished there was more linguine in the clam linguine dish & also not much flavor going on. I know Italian food can be pricey (I still love it though hehe), but this was not worth the price at all, in my opinion. We walked out of here, STILL hungry & unsatisfied, which is honestly pretty rare... But we were also surprised that they gave 6 scallops because we were totally expecting 2 or 3 scallops only LOL since so many places overcharge for scallops, so this was good in terms of quantity. We wished that they included something else with this dish? Like maybe asparagus or some sort of vegetable? The clam linguine had basically no flavor at all. I know that the flavor for this dish is usually kept pretty simple for the most part but this literally tasted like just pasta water. No garlic, nothing. Just salty pasta water? Overall, I will not be coming back. On the bright side, the place did seem pretty clean.

Needless to say I was shocked to get a 7:15 time slot on a weekend in August however it turned out very lucky for us. We had a delightful server named Molly and I must say if it were not for her recommendation of the homemade mushroom pasta I would never have chosen this Ahhhmazing dish. A fabulous blend of sauce with a hint of pancetta. My husband picked the Bucatini with shrimp. I think he would have licked his plate if he could. My coconut mojito and his blood orange sour were perfect compliments to our meal. Definitely coming back soon!
