    Fish tacos

3.5 It's hard to rate this place definitively. The restaurant is located in the Pell Hotel, and unfortunately, we arrived after dark. The lighting inside was quite dim--probably for dinner--so we couldn't fully appreciate the ambiance. That said, the interior was very clean and sleek, which was a definite positive. Even though it was a weekday, I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was, especially given that it's considered one of the top-rated spots in the area. I understand it's a bit past peak season, but there were only four tables occupied and a few people at the bar. The service was a bright spot. Our server was friendly, and had a genuinely positive attitude. However, I couldn't rate the experience higher than a 3.5 because of the food. We ordered the Helmway chowder, hot honey flatbread, fish tacos, and scallops. On the positive side, the scallops were better than what I'd had at another restaurant recently. They were flavorful and cooked well. The noodle pairing, however, was a bit odd--kind of dry and clumped together, with little flavor. It may have needed more sauce. Still, the scallops were the main attraction and didn't disappoint. The fish tacos were also decent, but I wish they had more aioli or crema as it was a bit dry. On the critical side, the Helmway chowder was a letdown. I'm no expert in New England clam chowder, but it didn't seem homemade and tasted more like something you'd get from a supermarket, with maybe a few extra clams and a sprinkle of paprika added. The flatbread was also underwhelming--the texture felt off, possibly overcooked, and I could barely taste any hot honey. Maybe it was just an off day, and I hope that's the case.

Ordered takeout for dinner. Seems very quiet both times I went. Service was fast. We got the burger and the salmon. Burger was good. I like the bacon bits in the burger, which would have been less interesting without. Fries were pretty standard. Salmon was also good and the skin was my favorite but I don't think the salmon works well with the sweetness of the mash it comes with. Overall good but the only complaint is you don't get much for your money but this is a hotel restaurant. For context, that burger and fries pictures is 21$ by itself and for that price, they could have doubled up the patties. Lol. Salmon was 30$.

We had globalist free breakfast here and i enjoyed it both days. It is simple and straightforward and nice. The brioche for the breakfast sandwich is yum and i liked how much cheese they give u w everything. The portions r nice and some might say on the small side but just right for me personally. They do def need at least one more person working weekends cuz i felt bad for how stretched thin everyone was, but the service was so kind !!!

This review is only for a dinner seating. Friday night dinner came with live music (3 person jazz ensemble) in the adjoining bar. The bar had more activity than the dining area, and rightfully so. We ordered the Mahi Miso, Scallops, and for dessert we had Cinnamon Bread Pudding. The mahi was a little overcooked but not by much. But the fish didn't have a hint of miso flavoring, tasted more like it had a salty butter glaze. The scallops were cooked properly. But just like the miso mahi, there was a flavor mismatch. It was supposed to be lemon garlic but it had no hint of lemon or garlic. The cinnamon bread pudding was pretty decent. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top with chocolate sauce and cinnamon powder. This was our favorite part of the meal. Waitress lacked polish but she got the job done. Like I mentioned, this is only a dinner review. Our breakfasts in this restaurant have been great.

Breakfast. Pell English muffin, French fries, bacon with over easy eggs. Side of vanilla yogurt with fruit and granola.

Their breakfast is delicious and relatively average price. My go to was the breakfast sandwich, but the other alternatives like the French Toast and breakfast burrito was equally good!

Friendly service in a fresh, modern space. Entrees are a bit pricey for the size of the dishes, but each bit of my pork chop was delicious. Steak seemed like it was refired after being sliced - maybe it came off too pink or timing was off? Not sure! Really tasty gin martini, absolutely would recommend! Beer list was inaccurate - three IPAs listed but only one was available. Also, it never makes sense to me when local beer served on draft is more expensive than its canned counterpart, particularly when it's something like a brewery's flagship recipe or an easy pale ale. Am excited to see this restaurant's team get some more water under the keel and really come together - I'll be back!

Very fresh and honestly, very affordable for the aesthetic, quality, and taste. Plus the service is great. I've had their pastas, entrees, apps, pizza, and drinks and there is nothing you can go wrong with. My personal favorites is their kale salad, chianti marsala braised beef and mushroom tagliatelle. Again, the quality is great and everything is seasoned/ flavored well. Plus their pastas are homemade! They also give free bread, who doesn't love that? I cannot recommend this place enough. Perfect for a date night or night out with friends.

She was nice enough to let me try them and I chose the Trevino which was very good and paired great with my food. The bread was nothing special but solid and the high quality olive oil made up for it. For my main I got the chicken milanese and it was divine. I loved the vinaigrette on top perfectly acidic and vinegary. It cut though the oil and heaviness of the breading which was perfectly salted by the way. The arugula bean salad was sooo good and created such a well balanced meal. The one thing I will say is I believe their fryer does fish and chicken bc my chicken had a slight ocean taste but since I like fish I was not bothered but non fish people beware!

It definitely has the little clam shack vibes that makes the experience feel even more authentic. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered a clam chowder cup and a hot lobster roll. I don't know if it was because I was there in the winter, but the lobster roll was generally affordable, running you only a bit over $27 which is almost unheard of these days. And they didn't skimp out on the meat too ! The lobster roll was filled to the brim and so delicious. The clam chowder was also incredible. I also love that they have a little market in case you want to make any of their seafood at home ! Will definitely become a staple when I come back to visit my parents.

I went on a rainy Monday around noon and there was still a steady flow of customers. It seems to be a pretty popular spot. The staff is all very friendly. The soups were served to us immediately after paying. The New England Clam Chowder was good. Nice amount of clams and very creamy. I had never had Rhode Island Clam Chowder before and this seemed like the place to try it. The clear broth was surprisingly flavorful but I still prefer New England. My girlfriend and I ordered a good amount and the food came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the kung pao calamari. The squid was fried perfectly and having the sauce on the side was nice as it didn't leave the breading to get all soggy and I had control over how sweet it would be. The stuffed Quahogs tasted good but I feel like I tasted more of the stuffing over the actual shellfish. It still tasted good, but I feel like I should've gotten more shellfish. We were told they ran out of shells to serve them on so the presentation was off, but they were still tasty. The lobster rolls were both good. They were $27 which seems pretty steep to me but they were actually on the cheaper side compared to other places we saw around Newport. The lobster tasted fresh and the bread was good. They were solid lobster rolls. The food was all solid, but for the price I wasn't wowed.

We just had another fabulous dinner at Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant--our second time dining here…read moresince last fall, and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

The place itself did not seem to care because nobody said anything to this table. It was a large group. At any rate, this is the best lobster bisque I've ever had in my life. I really enjoyed it. I got the plate where it was stuffed. I thought it was just OK but I was just eating something I don't normally try.My partner got steak frites which he also really enjoyed. I love the way the vegetables were cooked. They were perfect not mushy and not underdone. Will definitely return here, if we come back to Newport. I just hope for better patrons.

We started off with drinks --gin dirty martini and a classic old fashion, both were perfectly made and crisp. Food: Appetizer-warm bread with butter was a nice starter. However I wish we got the escargot with bone marrow as we watched it being made it looked and smelled delicious. Entrees- we split a 27 oz ribeye and the scallops. The steak was a beautiful cut of meat, well marbled, cooked to perfection and seared so nicely. It was sooo tasty and seared with Malden salt. We are pretty snobby when it comes to steak and this was probably the best steak I've ever had out at a restaurant. The scallops similarly were cooked and seared perfectly and seasoned correctly. Laid on a bed of watercress and potato fondant it was the perfect delicate bite and contrasted nicely with the steak. We got the side of brussel sprouts with peanut Rayu which was a beautiful flavor bomb. I can't say enough about the food. Every single thing we ordered was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I find that to be a rarity in today's restaurant scene. I could not recommend this place more.
