This review is for the gluten free/vegan donuts only. The service was friendly and helpful, although I didn't know we had to wait for the gluten free donuts to be "made", so I went to the counter when I saw others getting their donuts as they walked up and we hadn't gotten ours even after my matcha latte was made, but no big deal. That's when I found out I had to wait for the "gluten free" donuts to be "made". The gluten free donuts are also vegan. So if you want vegan you also get gluten free and if you want gluten free, you also get vegan. For me, that's perfect, as I need both. I've had some AMAZING donuts that are BOTH vegan and gluten free. These donuts were not that. I'd had a bad vegan/gf donut experience at a Parlor Donuts in Oceanside, CA, and from the reviews there, it seemed like maybe I'd just gotten a bad one. After today, I can say absolutely that was not the case. They're just as bad now as they were three years ago at a different location across the country. That has nothing to do with this location and everything to do with the corporate recipe. They are dense, and dry, with the consistency of dirt, without the crunchy/grittiness of dirt actually being in your mouth. At the other location years ago, we ordered one, each took a bite and threw it out. I don't know what came over us today, but we ordered all six flavors and regretted every single one of them and threw them away half eaten. I cannot comment on the non-vegan/gf donuts as I didn't eat those, but people seem to like them. I'd rather NOT have a donut than to have a Parlor vegan/gf donut. Someone at Corporate really needs to evaluate these offerings and either decide to improve the recipe or just take them off the menu, They're THAT bad. We were there on a Saturday in the late afternoon - it was empty. Perhaps it is the neighborhood being more of a business or industrial area and thus fewer people are here on a weekend... The vibe is clean and open, white tile and high ceilings. There was no one at the counter and they came out of the back eventually to take our order for keto donuts. The menu sounds great if you want to eat interesting flavored donuts! The keto donuts are as expected of a standard keto recipe - dense, made with almond flour and a bit too oily. Had they incorporated some more baking powder and whipped egg whites they would have been lighter in texture. They needed salt and more sweetness. At $4.99 a piece the price charged is not worth it to me given the flavor and texture. Did not taste any regular donuts. read more

We came on the opening day of Parlor Donuts, and were so surprised to see the line out the door, despite the rain and dreary weather. The excitement was in the air about the newest donut place in town. The interior of Parlor Donuts is bright, airy and decorated in sweet Americana. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and one of the managers was even saying hello to us and others in line as we waited. Yesterday, we had the chance to go back and at around 3:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon, we were two of six people in the whole place. It would definitely make an excellent spot to work or study from. As for the donuts, they are not your average donut like from Dunkin. They are layered, soft and buttery --almost like a croissant texture. Opening day! It was a bit chaotic, very loud with long lines, but the staff seemed to be taking it in stride & everyone was friendly. It's a fun, patriotic themed atmosphere & the vibe this morning was energetic. It smelled like doughnut heaven on earth. Everyone waiting in line seemed happy to wait in anticipation of a delicious doughnut for their reward. I felt like the line moved fairly quickly. We had a chance to peruse the merch as we shuffled around the back of the room. This is also the corner where the water station is located and the coffee bar to customize your drink with cream, sugar, etc. They had good looking mugs, glasses, hats & tees for purchase. Doughnuts were amazing! Light & pillowy with flaky layers. We ordered 8 doughnuts between the 4 of us so that we could sample more flavors. For us, the outstanding ones were: blueberry hill, lemon bar, churro & maple bacon. I picked up a coconut cream to go for my MIL, but haven't gotten feedback yet. I had hoped to pick up a doggie doughnut for Martini, but they were either sold out or it wasn't an option for opening day because the display was empty. JT said his flagship coffee was very good. SIL enjoyed her latte (with a sweet little heart on top), my bro became a newly-invigorated man after his iced latte. I had a less fortunate experience with my drink order, as I don't drink coffee. I ordered an iced chai tea latte on ice & apparently, they didn't make it at first. We (by "we" I mean my hubby & bro) went back up to ask about it 3 different times. From what I understand, it wasn't made at first & then apparently made, picked up & drank by someone else with a similar name. I didn't actually get what I ordered until after we'd all finished our donuts (and the rest of my party had already drank their coffee) and we were ready to leave. We definitely appreciated the opening day celebratory doughnuts (very generous) & we will return again in the near future. Hopefully, everyone will get their drinks in time to enjoy along side their doughnuts on a less busy morning. Parlor offers online ordering that looked pretty straightforward. Several people came in for pickups while we were in line. There was also "local feature" doughnut whose flavor is inspired by the local area/community. Ok y'all, I have had Parlor Doughnuts in Destin and they were fabulous, now fast forward and Knoxville has one! Hell yes. These donuts are the perfect mix between a doughnut and a croissant. Simply delicious, fluffy, airy and light with loads of flavor. They also offer egg breakfast sandwiches if you are looking for a savory option instead of sweet. Very clean atmosphere as it has only been open a few months now. But don't look at the floor too hard or it may make you dizzy. They have a souvenir area as well, if you are feeling the love then go buy a coffee mug, a t-shirt, hat, etc. They have a nice indoor dining area along with a large pet friendly patio, so bring your furry friends. I'm serious when I tell you to go check these doughnuts out, they do have minis but majority of them are huge! Believe me I'm already planning my next visit. If I could give is negative stars I absolutely would. we originally found parlor donuts in Nashville. They were amazing (Food, service, atmosphere). we were so excited to come back when we found one near home. This parlor donuts is honestly such a let down. We came 2 mornings in a row, the staff is beyond unfriendly, rude and just aggravated that they have to be here at work. We ordered they never called our names just left our coffees on the counter forever but hollered everyone else's name out. They made my holiday coffee that I pointed at the picture wrong. And when I asked for them to correct it they looked at me like I was wrong. Again I pointed at the photo And she rolled her eyes and grabbed my coffee. Today they made my coffee disgustingly. The girl moved at An absolute snails pace (20 mins to make 2 coffees) and the coffee came out undrinkable. It tasted awful. I brought it back up and said I had this yesterday and it didn't taste like this and she said well I made it the same and gave me a look like I was an idiot. (But, she didn't make them yesterday lol) Someone I'm assuming a manager offered to have them remade. That was the only kindness we were shown. and he did have someone Else hop on the machine and remake our coffees which took another 30+ minutes. But at least we did get drinkable Coffees that we paid $14 for. I ordered a dozen donuts and they asked if I wanted to choose a premade selection. I stated no I'd like your option to pick my own dozen. Again with a disgusting attitude and a huff and a puff she said okay and stared at me in Disgust. so i said my first donut she continued to glare at me so I started rattling off all 12 and then she told me to slow down. We were so excited to try these donuts but so disappointed. We got there about an hour before they closed. The chairs were turned up on the tables, mops blocking the restrooms and restroom doors blocked open. Very uninviting. We ordeeed 4 donuts and it took the waiter 30 minutes to prepare our order. While the physical restaurant was very clean and had plenty of seating, the experience with donuts wasn't great. I chose to purchase the vegan-gluten-free donuts, and a large coffee. When I asked for a bit of simple syrup in the coffee, the person at the register said they just ran out. The main part of the V/GF donuts had a cake-like-interior with several different toppings on or around the donut. The inside of every donut was very dry and lacked flavor. Ran in to this cute, clean place quick after grabbing food at the food hall next door. Parking is available across the street. It was late afternoon and we would have had to wait about 20 minutes for fresh donuts since a couple dozen were placed ahead of us. We opted for a few of the 4 left in the case from the morning. They did not disappoint. Raspberry pistachio was our favorite. We also had raspberry filled. These were amazing and I crave them. Almost a croissant type of donut. Very soft. Please check this place out, it's a one of a kind in Knoxville. As far as I know, there are no other doughnut shops in Knoxville that serve this kind. Parlor's doughnuts don't have a hole and are made with a light and flaky dough. They top them with various sauces, syrups, chips, and other toppings. They are very large so you really only need to buy one or two, and I can't eat more than two at a time as they are that big. But they are worth it. We got six and had enough for days. We got the maple pecan, chocolate chocolate (chocolate syrup with chocolate chips), blueberry hill (blueberry sauce on top), raspberry pistachio (raspberry sauce and pistachios) , and coconut cream (coconut cream filled and topped with coconut shavings). We've not gotten a doughnut from them that we didn't like. They also serve doggie doughnuts so we alway make sure to get one for our pup when we visit. The interior is also gorgeous and the service top notch. There is also outside seating. Don't pass this place up. Give them a try. read more

We've tried three different times since their opening, a few different menu items and just are not impressed. The donut toppings are very very sweet, which may appeal to some, but we found them overwhelming. Some of the doughnuts are more like fried dough and not a tender cake. The breakfast biscuit featured an old overcooked egg, reheated sausage and very bland biscuit - a fast food biscuit is better. And the gluten free doughnut was awful - dense gummy and flavorless. I tried it with the raspberry pistachio topping which was just a sticky sweet syrup and the pistachios were hardly dust. After two bites, I threw it away. The coffee is average, better than a diner but better options are just steps away. On the plus side, the decor is fresh and fun, and the staff was friendly even if stumbling over each other. I'm giving it three stars because it was a mixed bag. The doughnuts were what they call layered doughnuts, sort of like a cronut ( croissant/donut), and they were large and delicious. The milk was from a popular local dairy (that also has its own popular ice cream shops), and I think it is non-homogenized milk. So it has chunks (milk fat? cream?) floating in it. A little off putting if you're not aware or don't like it that way. The thing that dragged the score down the most was the service. The young women working there the day we visited were literally catatonic. They just stood there looking at us: didn't greet us, hardly muttered a word when we ordered. It was just weird. There were four of us in our group, and everyone said the same thing when we went outside to eat our donuts. It's in the Old City area of town that they're trying to rejuvenate, so the area can feel a little sketch at times. Do not recommend anyone going based on the appalling lack of customer service and dismissive attitude of their morning staff. We were ignored at the counter. After waiting in line, when it was our turn, the young lady working simply turned her back to us and walked away, saying nothing to us. Then we moved over to the cashier and she just stared at us - no greeting, no can 'I help you' - just stared at us. We told her we would like to purchase 6 donuts and she did not move and continued to stare. Then I asked how would you like us to proceed? She told us to tell her what donuts we wanted in which we did with her flat reply "is that all?" 'No, we want coffee as well' then cue the sigh of inconvenience from the cashier. Our second go at Parlor Doughnuts, we experienced the same exact thing from the person at the counter turning their back to us when our turn, and from stares to the sighs of inconvenience, but even worse as our order was started then left unfinished to assist another customer.
