My husband and I walked into Parlor Doughnuts around 10:30 in the morning with absolutely NO idea what kind of doughnut we wanted. None. Zero. We stood there studying the menu like it was a major life decision. Thankfully, there wasn't a line behind us, because we probably took a good 10 minutes trying to figure out our doughnut destiny. And the wonderful woman working the counter was SO patient, friendly and helpful. Honestly, she didn't just help us choose doughnuts -- she probably could have helped us figure out our lives, too. And if she ever decides to get into real estate, I'm telling you now -- this gal could sell some houses! She was that engaging and personable. We told her what we liked, and she worked with us. I love peanut butter, and she told me she had a little bit left, so she made me a fresh doughnut with it. It was absolutely delicious. My husband likes very plain doughnuts, so she made him a "Plain Jane" and even offered to add a little sugar or honey. He politely declined because apparently he wants his doughnut to be as plain as humanly possible. We also grabbed a few of their smaller doughnuts, which were only 65¢ each. Everything was incredibly fresh, and there were probably a dozen or so varieties available that morning. Some had already sold out, but here's the cool part: if they have the ingredients, they'll work with you and make what they can. Especially on a slower morning, it felt like such a personal experience. The doughnuts were so fresh that my pictures honestly don't do them justice. The shop itself is also really nice. There's parking around downtown if you look for the free spots, music playing overhead (hello, 60s! ), plenty of tables, couches and comfortable spaces. It would be a great little place to sit and work, too. And the air-conditioning was PERFECT -- not freezing, not roasting. Just right. So if you're in Lakeland, come support this local doughnut shop. I was clued in by a friend that I simply had to try Parlor Doughnuts, so made it a point to visit on a recent visit to Lakeland. It occupies a beautiful spot just a few blocks outside the main square in downtown Lakeland. The interiors of this donut cafe are tastefully decorated, and they have ample seating should you choose to enjoy your specialty donuts there soon after being served up. While it was hard narrowing down my selection since everything sounded great, I went with their cookies and cream donut (5/5) based on the recommendation of one of the staff members. It was quite possibly one of the best donuts I've had in years, with perfect donut texture as you bit into it, with all the delectable flavors of the indulgent cookies and cream on top. Not only was the donut excellent, but they are served up in tastefully retro boxes which just added to an already amazing experience. While I am generally underwhelmed with donut places, my experience with Parlor Doughnuts recalibrated my scale to what a delicious and ideal donut experience should be, and look forward to trying out their other locations in my future travels. This location is super cute. Very clean and has a modern take on an old school style. The donuts were on displayed and we had a hard time choosing our top 3. The French toast was said to be the top seller and I would rate it 8/10. The banana pudding was a 7/10 but the blueberry hill was 10/10. We should've tried the strawberry shortcake but I will be back to try it. This is our second time and we were able to come in. Parlor Doughnuts is originally out of Indiana I believe, so it was very interesting to hear they were expanding to Lakeland- and that first day open was insane. I saw pictures of the line literally out the door, down the street and around the block. Now, after going to try it, I understand and think it's worth the wait. Okay, maybe not that extreme of a wait but 10-15 minutes like when I went was totally fine. The donuts here are a little different in that none of them have holes. They're big pieces of dough with various toppings and some with fillings. But they're also kind of crunchy on the outside while still being soft on the inside and it is a marvelous combination of textures and tasty goodness. I tried the maple bacon, which I'm not sure why because I'm normally never a maple bacon fan. But this was easily one of the best versions of that donut I've ever had. It's literally made me look differently at maple bacon flavors now. The bacon was in smaller, crispier bits and the maple frosting was melty perfection. They have a decent selection of coffees as well, both basic and more complex like cold brews, lattes, etc. We all enjoyed our coffees a lot. Between that and the donuts it was an excellent trip. But they not only serve donuts, if you wanted something else besides the sweets. They do have some breakfast sandwiches/ savory breakfast items on the menu. I tried the breakfast tacos and they were very simple but that made them absolutely delicious and not a crumb was left behind. Lastly, I really love the theme and style Parlor Doughnuts has going on, it's really well done. From the cool tiled floor with all the gold accents and big hanging lamps, it almost feels like this place should be in the midst of NYC or some big city. Very impressed with this place! read more

Absolutely adorable place. The inside has lots of seating and a nice flow. We had some keto donuts (which is what brought us there to begin with) and they were awesome as a treat. My diabetic father liked the cherry and we got cinnamon sugar and cinnamon swirl. The keto are more like little Bundt cakes but still great. Then we got cinnamon swirl and honey glazed regular donuts and they were delicious. They are crispy like a fritter and the light and flakey. We got a coffee too and it was great. All the hype in downtown is all about Parlor Doughnuts. Naturally there was a line, but it moved rather quickly. It looked they had about a dozen or so different kinds of doughnuts. They also have coffee and breakfast sandwiches. I got a maple bacon and a box of cinnamon and sugar holes. The maple bacon had good texture and was fluffy. Not your typical doughnut texture. Almost bread-like. Still tasty. There was a balanced sweet and savory flavor. Personally I would like a thicker cut of bacon and cut into pieces instead of one strip. The cinnamon sugar was really good and fluffy as well. I really didn't have much time to hang out. But from the looks of it, it was decorated nice. I really liked the stark white with black graphics. While at the weekly farmer's market in downtown Lakeland this morning we made a quick stop at Parlor Doughnuts to see what they were all about. We picked up 6 donuts -- three raspberry filled, two campfire and one cinnamon. The donuts were soft, fresh and not cake donuts. We had visited another location of this chain, so we knew to expect high quality creative doughnuts. This location met those expectations. We visited around 2pm and they were still making fresh batches of doughnuts about an hour before closing. We tried The Swan, Peanut Butter Cup, and Turtle Cheesecake. The doughnuts were all soft, nicely doughy inside and lightly flakey on the outside. The Swan was a local inspired doughnut covered in a sweet flavorful maple glaze and topped with airy whipped cream. The Peanut Butter Cup had a rich peanut butter and chocolate icing. Great new donut & coffee spot in Lakeland. Franchise started in Evansville, Indiana, open about two weeks on Bay St, downtown Lakeland. The donuts are 5 star with a nice variety, not too sweet flavors and over a dozen kinds available. They don't have a center hole (tho' some pics do). Very soft insides, sticky outsides. Servers are all helpful and friendly. Beautiful decor & ambiance in an historic building. They don't have the small donuts available yet but do have some nice looking hot sandwiches as well. The one star less than perfect includes scarce street parking only with no one directing illegal local crammed parking. Also the coffee is not any of our local brews-which are the best (including espresso)! They use Pacific sweetened almond milk. (the one of two brands with a chemical taste besides the excess unneeded calories-hey making way for donut calories). Prices are high at almost $4 per donut (when other great local donuts are $1.35). They use a "hog trough" Disney line mentality that is a tight squeeze for strollers, walkers & wheelchairs. The outside side patio is not ADA accessible.
