Simply, Parlor is a great sports bar for people who don't really love sports bars. They have good beers on tap and in bottles, tasty snacks/food, ample natural light in the afternoon, darts and real friendly bar tenders and waiters. There is a plethera of TVs and the folks who work here are usually happy to oblige you for any team (even if they aren't fans themselves). If you're into soccer this is a lot of regulars who will watch the revs, or pretty much any other team as far as I can tell. Buyer beware: Parlor is a sports bar. I have been there before not planning to watch sports and been (slightly) underwhelmed. If you are looking for more of a traditional bar atmosphere I suggest checking out another watering hole. read more

Big fan of this place -- I happened to hear about it either online or from Phantom Gourmet, when they were talking about Trina's Starlite Lounge. I never ended up writing down the name of it, but my buddy and I decided we wanted to catch some Saturday night college football, so we headed in the direction of Trina's hoping it would jump out at us. For starters, the layout in this place is great. There's a wrap around bar that seats about 8-10 comfortably. There's several tables lined up against the back, with plenty of room to get up, walk around and get to the bathroom without feeling like you're on top of someone. There are several TV's mounted in perfect locations in the place, allowing you to watch a variety of sports from any seat there. The food is tasty -- I've gone for the burger as well as the Pepperoni Roll (think pizza/chicken roll), which they market as a grown up Hot Pocket. It was delicious (and only $4). The beer selection is what will keep me coming here. The first time I came, they had Dale's Pale Ale on draft. Anyone who drinks this beer knows that this is not the easiest thing to find at a bar on draft (most places known for beer at least have it cans). The fact that they had this on tap sold me on the place. I came back a few weeks later and Dale's was off, but High and Mighty XPA was on. They apparently have a rotating tap list -- nothing wrong with that. It's a great place to catch a game with some friends and have some good drinks and food. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Parlor sports is awesome. It strikes the right balance between sports bar and chill watering hole. It's as much of a sports bar as cambridge/somerville can handle, which is perfect. I did not encounter any bros. It's a great place to watch a game- plenty of tvs, delicious food (shares a kitchen with trina's, so if you like their food you'll like parlor's), super friendly and attentive service, but even if you don't care about any of the games that are on, you can still enjoy a great meal and a cold beer. They have music on so it's also easy to ignore the games and have a conversation. Great beer selection. Great service. Down the street from my apartment. Perfect. read more

Like other reviewers have already mentioned, the staff truly make you feel welcome here. They're willing to listen to all your little demands for whatever game you'd like to watch, on which TV, and have no fear: though the place is small, there are plenty of TVs available for the specific match you came for. Nachos were excellent, especially the chili they made. Next time I'll be sure to try the bowl of chili, for that pure experience. Or maybe I'll order both? I also tried out a basket of buffalo wings: the sauce was flavorful, not sloppy or overpowering, and the chicken luxuriantly juicy. My team lost that night, but I won't blame the bar. Finally made it to this spot after thinking about it for years. What the hell was wrong with me??? Although it's small but it had a good draft list and plenty of TVs to catch a game. We went for Thursday night football and my wife and I were able to find a seat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and got a kick out watching Peter Pan Live with us on TV (Chistopher Walken as Capt. Hook is still hilarious). I'd give it 5 stars but we didn't eat so it'll have to deal with 4 for now. read more

I've been here twice in the past couple weeks. We've gone once on a weeknight at about 10ish and once on a Saturday at around 11:30ish. So we've gotten to experience a pretty quiet/slower night and a noisier Saturday night. Both times were enjoyable. It's a very small place but it has a very laid back vibe to it. I can definitely see it being a local hang out spot. There's a few high tops and two or three tables in the corner to sit at, as well as the bar. We tried the nachos and the sweet and spicy wings while we were there. I'm not exaggerating, BEST nachos I have ever had. The wings were really good too, definitely have a nice kick to them. This might be a new hidden favorite as it seems like a really great spot to just kick back and hang out for a few. The food I've tried has been good and there's a nice beer selection. Multiple tvs as well playing a variety of things. I found it interesting they had the volume up while SNL played but switched back and forth to music during the commercials. read more

Yes, agreed I would not want to get the word out that this place is fun! When I and my lady friends were looking for a " classy" sports bar we came across this fabulous venue. I want this place all to myself and friend, however when you have a wonderful establishment, especially in the Boston scene, word does get out and it gets out lightening fast. It is quite smallish, but I would call it cozy, not cramped. We did go on a weekday so that may contribute to that observation. I have not been here on a weekend so I can not comment on how cramped it may get. I look forward to the Kentucky Derby theme party where every one wears glamorous hats just like the real deal. As my friends know I am a huge fan of going all out on your theme when you have an event and that one has had great buzz even after the event occurred so it must be loads of fun. We had a relaxing and refined time watching sports and just what I was looking for. We did not want a grungy bar, we wanted a clean sports bar with impeccable, friendly service and that is what we received. I really don't want to write this review, primarily because I want to keep this place all to myself. Greedy, I know. I'm not a sports fan, more of a bookworm, but this place (along with Fritz's in the South End) is where I would go see a game if the occassion to be a sports spectator ever arose. But unlike Fritz's which is a fun, gay-friendly place with killer Sangria and a sub-par beer list, Parlor Sports is its hipper, straight, but not narrow brother. A brother you'd want to hang out with every chance you get. The small bar at Parlor Sports is where it's at. It has all the qualities: excellent, reasonably-priced food, a small, but impressive tap list, and unassuming quality that make it too cool for school without really trying. The more I think about Parlor Sports, the more I realize that what's so cool about it is it doesn't try to be a brooding, snobby Somerville bad-ass. It is an everyman's pub that rises to the level of not being too stylized, and yet being just perfect. Everything about this place is great because it just is. Now before my review gets too metaphorical and philosophical, I'll get to the details. French Fries. A freaking Plus. As I've stated in other reviews, I judge a lot of restaurants on their french fries because it says a lot about the care they take with the preparation of their foods. These were obviously homemade and fried up to the perfect crispness, but not a trace of oil was to be found. Their pretzels? JUST DO IT. You will thank me later. I usually take a bite or two of a pretzel and then I reach my quota because 99% of pretzels outside of Munich end up tasting like the ones you buy at Target or the foodcourt at a mall. But not the ones at Parlor Sports. They were so soft, so spongy--think of the joy of diving into a freshly baked loaf of bread and you'll git the gist. The Service? Spectacular. I'm talking on the level of a fine dining bartender. I was at Parlor Sports on a Saturday morning which is the shit-end of the stick when it comes to bartending, but this guy was as pleasant as punch and even got the kitchen to grill our fish tacos rather than fry them without even batting an eyelash. Beer list? Awesome array of bottled and canned beers: Green flash, Gannsett, High Life, etc. On tap: Ommegang, Notch Pils, a Lagunitas Imperial. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. And like that awesome tree fort in the woods that you have when you're a little kid, I'm tempted to knock down a bunch of branches on the path there, obscure it from the view of the casual passer-by, keeping it's location top secret, but I won't. read more

Last MLS season this was our home for Portland Timbers away fans. The staff was very accommodating to our group and they always put on the game for us. The staff is very friendly and a few would even talk soccer with us. A great spot to watch sports. And the food? It's great! Highly recommend the nachos. We got a plate of them every time we were there. The 'Roni Roll and the Steak and Cheese are also great if you want something for yourself. read more

Great bar to watch sports if you're looking to avoid large, crowded jam packed places. I was there on a Friday night for some NBA playoff action. There were several other groups there for the same game. Plenty of screens in every direction. The bartender was also very kind about changing one of the screens so we could have the game showing on the screen directly in front of us. Solid selection of craft beers, and an even larger selection of bottled beers that I didn't begin to venture into. I ordered a pretzel with cheese dip and it came out fresh with a perfectly, warm gooey cheese sauce. It was clear that folks in the bar came regularly, as the staff would greet folks coming in. I look forward to coming back, checking out more beers, and more late night snack options! read more

I was here recently to watch a soccer game with some friends. We live nearby and had never been so we figured we'd check it out. I was severely disappointed by the service. It was clear that the place was not ready for a crowded scene that night, granted crowded in this small bar was about 30-40 people. They had what appeared to be 3-4 people on staff outside the kitchen. One bartender was doing quite a bit of bar service. Another was running drinks. A third was part time tending bar and part time chatting with his friends and drinking at one of the tables. The fourth came on later. I was standing as there were no seats available and asked the drink runner if I could order drinks from her. She said no (weird) and that one of the bartenders behind the bar would help me. She clearly never communicated this with the bartender as I tried to get his attention but I was so far back it was difficult to do (understandable). The drink runner was also only carrying like one drink at a time out, and I was shocked that she couldn't take my order. We stayed for the whole game and the entire time she never asked if I needed a drink or if I'd gotten the first one I asked for. She probably walked by me 20+ times the entire night. My friend ordered food from her earlier and was able to do so, so I was surprised when she said she wouldn't take my order. She seemed frazzled. It's clear this place has poor service, but it isn't really something they are looking to address. If you had a seat at the bar, the service was fine. They were understaffed or undertrained for the busy night (it was a Friday), and I felt kind of bad. I won't go back here since there are plenty of better bars to watch a game around the area. If this place is crowded and you don't get a seat, you are in trouble, especially if the same staff is working as when I was there a few nights ago. The one saving grace were the appetizers my friend ordered, which were quite good. Try something else. Boston has plenty of great establishments. Don't settle for this. read more

This is a haven for out-of-town sports fans. The owner has Pittsburgh roots and has a terrible tower hanging behind the bar. Its a cozy bar, not a lot of seating so get there early if you want a seat. If you do end up getting there late and order food the owner will actually go out of his way to get you a seat. The beer list is incredible, a little pricey but oh well, you can't really find cheap craft beer around this area anyway. If you're looking for a good snack during the game go with the grilled cheese or hot dogs, both are awesome. read more

Parlor is an absolute gem! I've been coming here regularly for years now, but never thought to write a review. Parlor is one of my favorite places in Cambridge, both as a sports pub and as a general hangout space. In particular, it's one of the only bars that reliably shows soccer (though that's far from their only event - they have a ton of TVs for a relatively small space, and there's always a bunch of games on!). For the men's and women's World Cup, they had special hours and showings for different games, which I really appreciated! The bartenders are great - they quickly learn patrons' names - and overall the atmosphere is awesome. For Cambridge, the food and drinks are also quite reasonably priced. I've been to Trina's a bunch, but just experienced Parlor Sports for the first time. It's got the same great vibe that Trina's has: low lighting, clean, vintage-y design and great staff. We headed over to Parlor Sports for a Bruins game after learning that the Thirsty Scholar didn't play volume for sports games. (I'm generally fine with this actually, but the bar was practically empty and I couldn't handle listening to Katy Perry while watching the B's... but I digress...). When we walked into Parlor Sports, the Celtics were on every TV- and there's alot, btw- but we asked if by chance they would put on the B's (with volume). He was totally cool and was like, "Absolutely!", So, high points for that. The beer selection is great- good standards with some good craft beer selections (i.e. Clown Shoes). Food is great - I've never had a bad meal at Trina's (and it's same the same kitchen). Fries are yummy and fresh and the cole slaw is perfect, in my opinion. I had the chicken sandwich with dijonnaise and swiss and it was prefectly seasoned and portioned. My finace had hot dogs with griddled onion and asked for griddled jalepenos, which made his night (cheap date). The bartender (who I learned was actually one of the owners) was casual and totally on point, with a great sense of humor. Generally speaking, this place has enough TV's that you could watch a number of sporting events at the same time (and the bartender actually asked what game incoming clients wanted to watch). Though I doubt I'll want to stuff myself in to such a tiny place (i.e. it likely gets packed) during the playoffs, this is now my local Bruins bar! read more

This place was exactly what we were looking for! Some college friends and I wanted to watch the patriots game and grab a few beers today and were so impressed with the service. The bartender and waitstaff were so nice and went out of their way to serve us, chat with us, and make our experience a great one. The buffalo wings and onion strings were delicious! Hello team. I'm much more of a review consumer than I am a provider, but I had to take time out of my day to pass this one on. I was on the road in the Boston area the past week or two, and the New York Rangers were (are!) in the midst of a deep playoff run. Parlor Sports, in addition to providing an excellent selection of draft and bottled beers, also has an excellent selection of televisions. With sound, for the team you'd like to watch! It is tough enough to get Ranger playoff sound at bars in Brooklyn if any other sport is on (you never know who's gonna kill it in spring training), let alone to get Ranger playoff sound in Boston with the Red Sox on (well, not really "on" so much this season). I think I was in three or four times over two weeks, and whether it was packed or just opening, this was a place to remember.
