SNS dip powder manicure with gel top coat

I went in to Diva Nails for a dip/SNS manicure as many nail salons in Santa Cruz do not offer this service. I arrived early to my appointment and was greeted right away, and only waited a few minutes before someone came to wrap my nails to remove my current dip. Once my tech (Tracy) was available, she brought me to her station in the back. The music was chill, the World Cup game was on the TV, and it was very relaxing. Tracy did a FANTASTIC job. This was my first manicure after moving to the area, and I was not disappointed! Well-priced, efficient, and high-quality. I will absolutely be returning for my next manicure!

My thumbs already peeled off and my pointer finger is starting. Other nails are lifting from the sidewalls

Upon my mani being started, my manicurist kept getting up to inspect other manicurists jobs they were doing for other clients and stepping to help file, shape, etc. bouncing back and forth between me.. and overseeing them. WTFFFF. My mani took about 40 minutes because of that and on top of that, I did not get a bowl of water to soak my hands in to soften my cuticles. Sooo because prep was horrible, the following day, my gel started lifting. Avoid, do not waste your money.

First time trying this nail salon and won't be back. I'm going on vacation and needed to get a pedicure. The place was pretty busy so I figured they did a good job, but I was wrong. They cut my toe nails way too short and filed them unevenly, and did a poor job on my cuticles. Then as I was leaving the woman that helped me with my sandals bumped my freshly painted toe nails and messed up the polish on one of them. I looked at her for some kind of expression, but there was nothing. At that point i had to get back to work and I didn't have them redo it. Plus I'm going to have to fix the poor job they did when I get home anyways. What a waste of money!

June killed it! Got the complicated design done so fast and it looks amazing. Will be coming back

I called about the prices of my manicure but when I got there, they charged me $20 more even though they said $70 on the phone they still charged me $90. Once I left, I called again to ask for the exact set price and they still said $70, so I told them they overcharged me and they said to come back for a refund. When going back for a refund, they took me to a back room and tried refusing my refund and GRABBED me, so I said do NOT touch me and you'll be giving me my refund. I got my refund but also got assaulted, NEVER COME HERE

Yesterday was my first time at Dive Nails on Soquel. I'm really happy with the service and quality of the job. The clinician did a meticulous job on my cuticles, cleaning them up beautifully, and the paint job is perfect; really clean lines. I opted for a "callus treatment" as well but that part could have been a bit more thorough. Overall, I'm really happy and will definitely return:)

I have been going to June for my manicures (Gel X, acrylic, and gel)! She is the BEST! Her design capabilities are amazing and I always leave so happy. They take so much time to be thorough, clean up my nails so well, and just make it perfect. Couldn't recommend her more! Also have gotten pedicures numerous times and it seriously is the best one in town. They take their time to clean your nails so thoroughly. Massage a long time and just give the best care

I got gel nails done here the first time and I'm super happy with the results. I'm honestly impressed. It's been over two weeks and they still look perfect -- no chips or lifting at all! Normally, my gel nails only last about a week because other nail techs always tell me I have oily nail beds, but this time they're holding up so well. The salon is clean, relaxing, and everyone is friendly. Definitely coming back again!

Long overdue review... I have toured and trialed many salons in the Santa Cruz area, not dead set on any one salon until Diva nails. Now, I only come here. They are so welcoming, super flexible, and most importantly do an amazing job. I work with my hands a lot, so durability and strength is so important for me. My nails grow out long before they chip. They always have fun new seasonal colors and trends. 10/10 stars read more

Pretty sure they use MMA and whatever type of primer they used was super corrosive as soon as she started applying the acrylic my nail was on fire each and every nail was on fire. It's subsided after a couple minutes, but when I got home, my nails were still hurting, and the shape was way off. Every time I go there and try to soak off my nails after it comes off as super goopy. read more

First time trying this nail salon and won't be back. I'm going on vacation and needed to get a pedicure. The place was pretty busy so I figured they did a good job, but I was wrong. Too slow I spent two hours to get a half done pedicure. I didn't even get a massage. The nail painting was rushed and they didn't even offer to discount the pedicure when I didn't get half the services the deluxe pedicure comes with. The staff are sweet; but definitely a waste of time. read more

Joly was amazing! She was so sweet and did a phenomenal job on my nails. She was very accommodating with what I wanted done and they came out great. They have also remodeled lately and everything is clean and up-to-date beautiful chairs for pedicures and a massive selection of colors. Walked into the salon because I needed time to kill for an hour I ended up doing a gel set, which was $50 worked with Tracy. She was very nice. I was a little indecisive but she was super flexible with me. She got it done in 40 minutes and she did an amazing job so thank you so much, Tracy. read more

I wanted to like this place as it's so close to home and Whole Foods, but I will never, ever be back. I came in for a gel manicure and the technician used the wrong drill bit on the drummel to remove my gel polish -- definitely not what should ever be used on natural nails! It had big spiked barbs on it and she drilled my natural nail down almost completely to the nail bed to the point that it was painful and starting to hit the nerves. I told her she was drilling too much and she didn't listen. I should have walked out but didn't want to be rude (big mistake) as she drilled deep painful grooves out of my natural nails which will now take months to heal and re-grow. I thought maybe the manicure would be better, so I stayed. It wasn't. It was the clumsiest and worst manicure I've ever had in my life. Nails trimmed with rusty nail clippers, sloppy totally uneven filing (as in, completely diagonal). At one point I wondered if the tech was partially or mostly blind, that's how bad it was. Nail polish all over my fingers and hands. It was truly awful, and I've been getting gel manicures every two weeks for YEARS. It was the worst manicure I've ever had. I wish I'd taken photos at the time, but I was just in shock and didn't think to do it. Forget feeling pampered, the whole experience was uncomfortable, painful, and damaging. I went to my usual place to get the awful polish removed and they couldn't believe how my natural nails had been destroyed. The photo below if after three weeks of healing with daily strengthener and vitamins applied. It's hard to see in the photos but the pink parts of the nail are where there's almost no nail left, it's deep grooves carved out of my nail nearly all the way down to the nail bed. The nail in those areas is so thin that it's sensitive to the touch and I have to wear gloves to cook or clean as it's still painful weeks later. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs! read more

I think I found my new go to nail spot. This place looks like any old nail salon-nothing special aesthetically, but the quality of their work and design skills are second to none. Pros- attention to detail, professionalism , and they really take their time ensuring you are getting quality nails for the money you pay. I never felt rushed and the photo I showed for inspiration is identical to how my nails turned out. Cons- I called the day before to book an appt, however when I showed up they seemed confused and I had to wait 10-15 mins. When I was getting my nails done I overheard several phone calls of others trying to make appts and I did not notice the employees actually writing this information down. Personally I didn't mind the wait. This salon seems to be more of a walk in/ first come first serve location. Sure you can make an appt, but you may have to wait. read more

They seemed fine till I left and noticed 2 of the nails completely crooked and when messaged about it she said she adjusted the tip for nail bed and Is out of town and to file it cause that's what she would do. My other fingers were straight, never had a problem before. It was on a Friday and by Monday a couple of the nails were falling off and broken. I don't do much with my hands so for 80$ nails and 20$ tip, to fall off within less than 3 days isn't great. I have paid way less and they lasted longer and looked better and if not they would have me come back in and take off the nail and re-do it. A second one split 5 days in, they looked rushed and not put on correctly

I was greeted by friendly staff who made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. They were sensitive to my demands and took the time to ensure that my nails were flawless. I came in for a fill on on an early Monday morning right when they opened and was the only customer in there. I walked in for a fill and just regular polish, but due to the slightly small polish collection, I was convinced to do gel. I am absolutely in LOVE with my nails! The color, the shape, just everything! It's always hard to find a shop that does quality acrylics but the shape and detail paid to my nails was a great change. Shoutout to Vu for an amazing job. Visited this establishment and was incredibly happy with my visit. They are so kind and welcoming; not at all pushy like other establishments can be. They were willing to take me in right away for a same-day appointment. Everyone working today was in the same family, both close and extended members. I would recommend them to anyone who asks. I have been coming to Diva Nails for quite some time and I have always been happy with my mani/pedi's. Van is my favorite he does such a wonderful job and has a great personality too. My gel manicures last forever. The salon is in such a great location for people who live in the Midtown area, right off of Soquel Avenue in Whole Foods shopping center. The nail tech did a neat job but as always at this place everything was so rushed. There was no waiting in between coats, and they actually kicked me out of the pedicure chair before the service was done because a bunch of people had walked in and they didn't want to lose the sales. The top coat ended up getting applied by the door of the shop and there was quite literally no wait time in between coats. This was 2 hours ago now, I had the ac in my car running on my feet the entire drive home and the polish is still gummy and wet because there was no time to dry between coats. What happened to the little fans to help dry coats faster? Or just allowing a little bit of time between coats as you're supposed to? I do respect these women as they pretty much all work 9-6 7 days a week. But I just can't justify the money spent here anymore when they're rushing your service to turn out as many people as possible and not taking pride in their work.

I was also told the acrylic/dip would match the color I already had. Instead, clear acrylic was applied and then painted over with pink polish. When I tried to explain that I felt the polish was being applied too thick, the response I received was, "I don't understand." At that point, I honestly became uncomfortable continuing to explain what I wanted. I could see that they have many loyal customers, and I did not want to come across as rude or be the person complaining, so I accepted the service, paid, and left. What is most disappointing is that I would have been completely fine if they had simply told me from the beginning that they could not recreate what I already had or that they did not have enough time. I would have thanked them and gone somewhere else. Instead, I agreed to additional services based on what I was told could be done, spent almost an hour there, and left with something completely different from what I asked for. I understand that not every salon or technician will be able to recreate another salon's work, and that is okay. I just wish there had been better communication and honesty about what could actually be done before I agreed to the service.
