My daughter had an accident while playing, knocked a tooth loose and her gums were bleeding. It was just after five and my husband and I were panicking. We called over ten after hours phone numbers and only managed to speak to two dentists. Nicholas Oster was the first of the two who spoke with us. He was very helpful walking us through what to look for, and how to care for her until we got her to a dentist the next day. He was respectful while still giving me confidence that she did not need emergency after hours care - which turned out to be 100% true. While we kept her with the dentist she was familiar with, we truly appreciate Dr. Oster for his professionalism and willingness to help us when other dentists didn't. When we went there the first time, they told both my partner and me that we each have multiple crown/root canals needed, which cost thousands of dollars each. We didn't have any issues when we were with all previous dentists. So we went to other dentists to double check and it turns out we don't need to do any crown/root canal at all (except for one of my teeth might need a crown if it's getting worse the next year)! Imagine all the damage to your teeth if you blindly do everything as they recommended. On the good side they do very detail-oriented diagnosis and work. It's important that you understand I'm a huge baby concerning things happening in my mouth. A HUGE BABY. Dr. Dyson and his staff recently had to deal with my broken crown AND the fact I'm nearly 7 months pregnant. For those of you who aren't 1) dentists or 2) pregnant, this means that every 4 minutes or so I had to sit up so I don't pass out and I whined a lot. Because it hurt and also because I'm laying flat on my back for an hour. Not only did Dr. Dyson patiently sit there during my miserable "sit up time", but he patiently explained everything going on and constantly reassured that me that the local anesthetic he gave wasn't going to cause my unborn baby to grow another head nor was the porcelain I had swallowed over the weekend going to poison said baby. (Some of this reassurance was done over the weekend when I called his PERSONAL CELL PHONE which is listed as the after hours emergency contact). Other things I love about Dr. Dyson: 1. He personally called me the next day to check on me. 2. His staff all knows not only my name, but the name and age of my son (whom they have met once), what I do for a living, etc even though they only see me every 6 months (except for the aforementioned emergency) 3. They have the latest equipment. So when they say "you have a cavity here", they can show you the cavity and EXACTLY how they are going to fix it. Which also inspires me to floss more. Dr. Dyson is the real deal and I will never ever leave them. Unless they make me leave for being a whiny baby. read more

The office is really easy to got to, right off Parmer, super convenient. The office is nicely decorated and very clean. Your appointment starts at your actual appointment time!! Imagine that, a medical office that runs on time! Seriously, I have never had to wait even 1 minute past my appt time. This is crucial to me b/c my time is important. The staff members are amazing, everyone is really nice and puts you right at ease. They use all the state of the art equipment, digital x rays etc, screens right in front of you so you can see everything for yourself. Dr. Dyson is great, very gentle, very nice and knows his stuff. Never Ever Go Here I have been getting my teeth cleaned since 20yrs and have never had any problems ever. We moved from California in Feb 2015 and wanted a normal cleaning up. I have never had a cavity or root canal or any problems with my teeth. I always go a clinic after reading the doc review not the assistant. I or my insurance pay for the treatment from a doc not from the assistant. First of all the Doc never came, the assistant Lindsey took xray's, pictures and she started the clean up. Second she started scraping my teeth and hurting me so bad, that she herself repeatedly told me to take a pain killer after I go home. I always keep a mirror in my hand or my husband always sits near me to keep an eye. That day, it was my bad luck, that my hubby had to take a emergency call and he was outside the clinic. I was in so much in pain, I forgot to ask for a mirror. I told her to stop cleaning, but she insisted that she is not aggressive, but she didn't stop. I was bleeding so badly that even my 10yr old daughter got scared and told her to stop. My daughter has seen my teeth being cleaned every time and this was a first time, she saw my mouth filled with blood. I felt that my tooth was being YANKED OFF. I had a grafting done on my front lower teeth and she just took it off and denied doing it. After the cleaning, my husband of 13yrs was shocked to see my teeth. Even my daughter said that, "mom you look scary", because she saw huge gap in my teeth, a huge piece of my front skin grafting was gone and they could see my teeth nearly falling off. When I confronted the doc, he had the nerve to ask if I had proof of how my teeth looked before and also told his assistant that she did a good job. I was bleeding so much for and my full jaw was in so much pain, that I could only take liquids for 3 days. OMG! first time after a normal cleanup, I had to take painkillers for 3 days to survive. So my honest suggestions, if you want to go here, its your own risk, go. But please take a picture of your teeth and keep it in your phone as proof, or else they will deny that you had such a tooth. Keep a mirror in your hand to see what they are doing. If I had kept proofs, I would have definitely sued them. Such people have no rights to be in medical profession. read more

We were shopping for a new in-network dental provider, and Parmer Oaks Dental happened to send us a "free teeth whitening" coupon in the mail... so my wife, daughter & I tried them out. We all walked out of there with recommendations for "necessary" tooth repair to be done, totalling over $3000 for all of us. That seems odd, since neither the dentist we had been seeing nor the new dentist have subsequently said any of that work was required. Therefore I can only conclude that they push lots of services to pad their own pockets. I will NOT be going back! read more

I moved here recently and left a dentist and staff that I absolutely loved in my previous home town. This dentist and staff had been mine for almost 20 years. I knew that I'd never find another one in the Austin area as good as my previous one. But! AHA! I found one just like my dentist I had left! Dr. Dyson and his staff are absolutely awesome! I have been seen within ten minutes of a panicked call to their office with a toothache. They are kind, considerate, and make me feel so at home while in their office. Let me explain...I loved the staff and the front desk clerk. They are all so incredibly sweet and seem so sincere. It was always a pleasure to go to their office. I even loved Dr. Dyson; however, I moved to downtown Austin 3 years ago. My new dentist, after 3 years, still cannot find anything "work" to do on my teeth. He thinks they look beautiful and is happy that I am one of his few patients that ACTUALLY flosses every day! So, when I kept asking if there was any "work" that needed to be done, he replied that he wouldn't mess with my teeth because they look great, and I am not in any pain. You can imagine how shocked my new dentist was to find out that I left Parmer Oaks Dental in the middle of a multi-year (many thousands of dollars) plan to fix what was wrong in my mouth. I was so disappointed to learn that Dr. Dyson had plans to do unnecessary work for years on me. He had already milked me for 2 or so years of "work." I hope enjoyed his new boat, plane or car - for whatever my cash and insurance was paying. read more

Dr. Dyson and his staff are as good as they get! From the moment any patient steps in, they are greeted with warmth by the front desk staff. I have been to my fair share of dentists over the years, and I truly believe Dr. Dyson is one of the very best out there. First, he is gentle (yay!), with a extremely calming demeanor. Dr. Dyson is also very thorough; but what I love about him is that he never pushes treatment of any kind that is not obviously needed and/or necessary. Rather,my experience has been that he will spot something that might need to be watched, and he does just that, with no rush to the extreme treatment. Dr. Dyson is supported by his excellent dental assistant who takes on the same calming yet thorough demeanor; as well as his dental hygienists. No one loves going to the dentist, and I'm with you on that. However, we all need to go, and thankfully, Dr. Dyson is one dentist that makes the dreaded experience very doable! I should also mention that he is known to personally call the following day just to check up on you; that's just how he is. He truly cares about his work and the welfare of his patients.
