I'm impressed to see Parnell's has a combined 4 star rating, as we did not have a very good experience. We sat down at the bar and noticed the weather channel was on TV. I asked if they'd be able to change it to one of the NCAA March Madness games, and the bartender very sarcastically said 'no we don't watch basketball here'. It was so sarcastic, I legit couldn't tell if he was kidding or not. 5-10 awkward seconds later he recanted and said just kidding and proceeded to change the channel. We ordered two espresso martinis. We weren't sure if they had the means to make them, but figured they would've told us if they couldn't. Well, they made them, but I didn't see them add any espresso/coffee mixture. It was just vodka, kahlua and baileys from what I could tell. Essentially all the flavors of coffee without the caffeine, which was the primary reason we ordered them as we were headed to a concert that evening. On top of that, the drink was filled less than half way (pictured) leading to about 3 sips before it was finished. Then, come to find out each one cost around $9. Maybe we should've stuck to an Irish whiskey or Guinness. Maybe they should learn to make an espresso martini correctly, or don't make them at all. Maybe the bartender shouldn't have been so sarcastic to patrons they don't recognize as regulars. Or maybe you just shouldn't visit Parnell's, and if you do, definitely don't order an espresso martini. read more

You should stop at Parnells before seeing a show at Playhouse Square. It's the perfect spot for drinks before show. They have a large menu that can be accessed by QR code. The staff was picked to accommodate our party so we had a place to sit. I ordered an espresso martini which was not on the menu. They were quick to accommodate the request, and the martini was STRONG. The pub Is quite busy before shows so I would plan accordingly. there is quite a bit of seating but you may be standing at the bar. read more

Parnell's is a great little bar located in Playhouse Square. Just an old school bar with no food, but great drinks and a decent beer selection. The service is tremendous, my beer was never empty. You enter off Euclid, the bar will be on the right rear with various seating options on the other side. The L-shaped bar has a dark brown wooden bar top with a large matching rail to rest your forearms. A black footrest rests under the wooden bar stools with back support. With a rush before and after the theater, the vibe is very friendly and subdued. Great, experienced bartenders. Parnell's is an excellent place to stop by for a beer or cocktail in you're in Playhouse Square. read more

If you are near playhouse square and looking for a great place to get drinks before of after a show, Parnell's Pub is exactly what you want, but be warned they do not have a kitchen only chips/pretzel like snacks. What they do have is a wide variety of Irish wiskey, a solid beer list with some of my favorite ipas and a wine list fit for the theatre crowd. Parnell's has even up'd their mule game too, if Moscow Mule remixes are something your into (like me). It also doesn't usually get overly crowded and the staff is consistently attentive, so you can easily get a quick, quality turnaround on drinks and still make a curtain up time. It can be a little pricey compared to other pubs but based on location it makes sense. As a soccer fan, I can get my pint and matchday fix while pregaming for the next Broadway musical coming to town. Plus, when it is warm the patio area has a gram worthy view of the GE chandelier. I heard Parnell's may be undergoing some new improvements or additions of some kind so I will definitely check it out again and report back soon, but remember: Parnell's is where to go for pre/post playhouse drinks, emphasis on drinks. read more

Great place to stop in for a quick drink in the Theater district if you have some time to kill or after work for happy hour when they offer $1 off. I don't think they get people hanging out long as there aren't many tables and the only snacks available were dried meat sticks and bags of UtZ chips. They offer a full bar and the service is quick and friendly. There was seating inside and out and charging stations available. There are a couple of TVs if you're sitting in the right location to view. read more

Been here a few times and each time is just ok. The interior is kind of dark but there is some comfortable seating towards the windows which is nice to sit and people watch. I've also had drinks out on their patio and is excellent for people watching on a nice day as well. I'm not sure if they have food here but if they do - I've never tried it. I tend to only come here when I am going to the theater cause the pub is just a couple doors down from it so that's very convenient. This weekend I had the Parnells Spritzer which honestly tasted like a sparkling water - it was so watered down and bland. I struggled to finish it and it was the one and only drink I had. The time before that, I had a moscow mule and I remember it was really strong and almost made me sick (I also didn't have anything to eat with it which probably also contributed to my sickness). That time we left before I even finished the drink. Overall, I can't find anything really special about the place. Everything is just ok including the service and drinks. Again, I only go here cause it's conveniently located to the theater, otherwise it would be a place I'll go out of my way to frequent. read more

Note to parnells: if you are going to charge full menu price for an ipa, dont take a modetately high abv, columbus bodhi, and serve it in a sniffer without saying so in menu. Columbus bodhi in most bars, including at columbus brew pub IN colubus, serves it in a pint glass. You are taking advantage of unsuspecting customers. I wont be returning here and will be sure to advise everyone I know of the deceptive beer practices used here. Shame shame Parnells. read more

Parnell's is a decent pub. Good beer selection and comfortable place. This was part of a self-directed Pub Crawl in Gateway District. I veered off course because Parnell's had such great reviews on Yelp. I might return here if I was really close by but it wasn't amazing. It was good. People were friendly, beer was fine, place was clean, etc., but there was no wow factor and it just didn't seem as if anyone was having any fun here. Probably just an off night. Maybe there weren't any shows in town that night? Anyway, don't avoid Parnell's based on my review but lower your expectations and eat before you go there. I don't think they serve food. read more

Definitely as good as it gets. Declan knows his Irish pubs and this is the best in CLE. Great for after work drink, before show drink, just-broke-up-with-my-girlfriend drink. The staff is great. Erin is one of my favorites, great smile and knows what all of her regulars drink. Crowd is pretty eclectic too. Everything from theatre goers, Cleveland State students, people from out of town (met a journalist here from Paris in to cover he Amanda Berry / Gina DeJesus story when that broke), to people who live a stone's throw from here. I really wanted to love this place as much as other reviewers did but I can't say I get what the hype is all about. Before a show the other night, my bf and I stopped in for a few beers. It was packed, people were not very nice but a table opened up and we grabbed it. So I thought, "hey, let's give it a chance." Our server was nice as was the bartender but people kept bumping into me and that was super annoying. They let you bring in outside food, as they do not serve food, from surrounding places. That's pretty cool. Because of the close proximity to Playhouse Square and the cheap prices, I'd say this place is overall pretty decent. Just try to get there in time to get a table! read more

This tiny little bar is located right next to the theater and we almost missed it while trying to locate it. The bartender Joe was extremely nice and friendly and he really tries to make his customers feel at home. This place is great--these folks know how to make a good Irish pub. There's no fake, gimmicky, B.S. here. In fact, I would say this is the best Irish Pub in Cleveland, but Parnell's main spot in University Heights wins that award as far as I'm concerned. I would actually give this place a 5-star review, but it gets way too crowded after a show. Thankfully, the employees are great and do as good as possible with a massive crowd in a tiny space. They all strive to give the best service possible, regardless of the situation. And even though it can get hard to navigate after the theaters let out a big crowd, this is still my go-to post-show spot. read more
