I absolutely loved this place. The ambiance is so cozy and welcoming. I'm from SoCal where a lot of the restaurants are saturated and everything seems to be good and maybe easily forgotten- this spot would totally be a top contender amongst all those places. On top of that the service was amazing. Our server recommended this hot sauce, May's, which was made by his buddy during Covid and it was better than Franks red hot. Kensington Pub is a staple of Cleveland Hts. Great bar vibe that feels timeless, staff is perfect, fun to talk to and keeping things moving. I wanted a decent dinner to take home. I was uninspired by the menu. Ended up ordering a burger. Ordered an espresso martini while waiting. It was great. I noticed the bar was tacky sticky. I didn't want to touch anything. Then I went in The bathroom. It was dirty overall, clearly not a priority. This was on a weeknight and they weren't busy. One toilet wasn't flushed and was disgusting. I took my burger and left. Ate only a tiny bit. It was not bad, I just couldn't. read more

It has been six years (HARD TO BELIEVE) since I reviewed this Pub. And I can tell you that the experience there is always terrific. The Bartending staff are well-trained aces and anyone that says otherwise has no concept of what a truly good barkeep is. The consistency of the food is top flight. Although the menu has its limitations, everything is well-prepared and quite tasty. Service is first class. . . the staff is attentive and I've never been served anything that wasn't the proper temperature or done differently from my exact preparation requirements. First time coming here after a night out. Absolutely fantastic. Nice , mild atmosphere. Darker lit lighting, kind of has a nice ambiance for an actual corner bar. Super friendly bartenders on a Thursday night. The big bonus for this pub is that the kitchen is open til 130 AM and possibly later if need be. It was a smaller after hours menu but was told by other people at the bar, I had to try the Meat and Bun Burger and or the Corn Dogs. I wasn't feeling corn dogs so I went with Chicken Tenders and the burger. The fingers were properly coated and crispy. 3 big tenders with a ranch dipping sauce just hit the spot. Then came out my burger with lettuce tomato cheddar cheese mayo and ketchup cooked medium. Best burger I've had in a long time. Cooked to perfection. Toppings were fresh tasting. Big enough to fill me up as I couldn't even finish all the crispy fries they came with. I would order this burger again and again and even again, that's how good it was. I wide array of liquor at the bar and 5-6 beers on tap and many more in bottles. This place would definitely be a weekly stop if I lived closer to it. Great pub. I love a good neighborhood pub. In town for work and looking for somewhere open Sunday day after 8 is not an easy task. We found Kensington. Loved the ambiance, there are two separate areas, we sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly, served us quickly with perfectly made drinks, amaretto sour for me & cider for my friend. When we were ready to order, he gave us a few tips on things that were not on the menu that we could still order, I.e. Caesar salad, which I ordered, my friend went with a burger. We both enjoyed our choices. The dressing was creamy and just coated the romaine. The burger smelled delicious and was thick & juicy. It still smelled good 3 days later when she reheated her leftovers! The bartender may have been the owner, he was entertaining without being bothersome. If I could give this place zero stars I definitely would. My party of four came in for dinner and stood there while multiple employees walked right by without even acknowledging us. After finally getting seated we continued to wait without being acknowledged, my party and I then got up and left. I came here for the first time at 1 in the morning with my friend after a couple drinks, and in search of some late night eats. My friend said it would be the best Reuben sandwich in Cleveland and it surpassed that- it was the best Reuben I've had in my life. Not only that, she mentioned that it was the owner who was pouring our beers, bringing our food, and when we asked for a box he just packed it up AND stuck it in a bag for us. I've lived in Cleveland all my life and just wish I knew about this spot sooner. I'll be taking my friends for some more drunk Reubens, and as a local bartender myself, recommending it to my own patrons on their travels. I have only been here twice. Each time it was on a Thursday evening around 8pm. I had the same bartender who essentially ignored my friend and I until he finished talking and laughing with his regulars. He would then disappear to the back or busy himself with something else before he came over to us and mumbled something. My friend ordered for us and we got our drinks and continued having fun. The food is acceptable, nothing to write home about. Three stars because, in my experience, unfortunately, the service has been severely lacking. Will likely return to try again, maybe I'll sit at a table next time. read more

I've heard good things about the food here, so a group of us were looking forward to going. I'll start out with the Good: the salmon special & the filet. Both were prepared as requested and salmon was flaky and moist. On to the OK: pork schnitzel sandwich- the pork schnitzel was small & thin. The breading was light and tasty, but that was because I took it out of the large bun that it was surrounded by. I would strongly suggest that schnitzel be served without the bun & with gravy instead, otherwise you cant taste the thin slice of pork through all the sandwich bread. Now to the Not so good: the mushrooms with macaroni and cheese came sans mushrooms and very little cheese & was dry. We sent it back. The owner explained that yes, not enough cheese was put in & that is why it was dry & it's possible that our dish had inadvertently had few mushrooms & he would provide a fresh entree of it, but unfortunately, he offered nothing to our friend who had to sit and wait 15 minutes with nothing to eat while we ate our meals, a free drink or appetizer would've gone a long way in making up for an obvious error from the kitchen! The owner did not come around again to see if we were satisfied. Service was pretty darn bad & this was an early Thursday evening, nit a weekend night. There was only one other table seated when we arrived, yet we had to wait a very long time for the waiter to bring our drinks and when he did bring them, he forgot one & there was no sugar on the rim of one (which had been specifically requested)! After dinner, we ordered a second round of drinks, and 15 minutes later, though our waiter repeatedly walked past our table, no drinks were forthcoming. I had to remind him about our 2nd round of drinks all while half of us sat with our dirty dinner plates & no effort was made to clear them! Maybe the cook was having a bad day & cheese, and the waiter was new or just maybe...a menu of both high end entrees like salmon, filet mignon, plus pub food is a bit too much for one kitchen & they should just focus on nice quality pub fare with a few specials on weekends (like Larchmere Tavern does) and provide some much-needed training to their wait staff and chefs. read more

Nice new pub on Lee Road. I've been at this establishment a few times, mostly great experiences. Last night I got out of work very late and just wanted dinner and a drink, I heard their kitchen was open until 2 so I popped in. They have a late night menu that's smaller, still plenty of options. Featuring sandwiches, salads and the bartender offered some macaroni despite it not being one the "chosen list". I chose a Reuben, as I was craving a crispy sandwich piled high with meat. It was wonderful! The exact pub food I was looking for. The sandwich wasn't overly large, but I managed to save half of it for later. When packing up I was offered ketchup to go, very thoughtful. The owner kept yelling, pointing and at one point stood directly in front of my sister as if he was cutting her off from speaking to the guest. I started calling for my sister to come down to the door so we could leave and the whole time the owner is screaming and saying we are upsetting him and his guests. A man in an apron came out and asked what was going on. I explained to him and the patron the owner originally was talking to came over and asked "that's not the racist one is it?" After that I was done. I called for them to leave and we left out. We will never return. All of this because they sat in empty chairs. If people leave the bar how do we know they are still there? You're missing out on money for people who aren't even inside. My sisters moved when he asked but maybe it wasn't fast enough for him. My sister even asked at what point what did she do wrong and he said "I don't know I just want you to leave." I have videos as proof. He was extremely loud and embarrassing and we really because it was because of our skin color because we were the only people of color in the bar. read more

Not pleased with the poor service. the soup to be served first before the entree took forever to come out, after we finished our soup our main course was very slow in arriving while we sat with our empty soup bowls in front of us and no interaction from the server.
