I believe they added chips to the order, and I thought the chips were quite awesome. But they did have a long line, and it took much longer than I wanted to wait to order a burrito. Inside was chaotic and super loud. It is not a spot for a first date or quiet dinner. Outside has little fire pits but they're mainly by your face, so your forehead is peeling off but the rest of you is cold. First world probs. The $1 tacos were not enjoyable at all. I got one of every kind except for the veggie. Each meat was cold. It is nice you can customize it with the order takers, but they rattle off options at you so fast that it's overwhelming to try and say anything other than "yes." I meet with a group regularly at different patios in town and we decided to try out Parilla's new patio after not getting a spot at other restaurants in Hyde Park. Parilla Grill is in a great central location in Hyde Park and has a lot of space, especially since adding the new patio. The atmosphere is definitely sports bar with lots of TVs and sports memorabilia. The owner is an MSU alum so you'll see Bobcats gear along with the typical Boise State and U of I stuff. I was definitely happy with the pricing, drink prices are on par with comparable places and they also do lots of deals including a nightly happy hour. I tried their huckleberry lemonade slushee and was happy. They do lots of well priced margarita options as well. Food is similar in price to places like Chipotle which is great for a local business. We ordered a nacho that was a little disappointing for the price, flavor was okay but I would have liked pico de gallo, guacamole, or some other fresh component. The burrito I split was good though and I'm interested in going for fish taco Friday. The new patio is beautiful. I love that they stayed true to being a sports bar and put TVs outside and that the patio has misters to keep things cool. We have often relied on Parrilla to help feed our kids in a pinch while wandering Hyde Park. Normally we are pleased with the food, and have had consistently friendly service. Today we were really bummed after walking away with an exceptionally larger bill than anticipated. Our two little kids just wanted a couple of kid-sized tacos with only rice and guacamole, and a side of tater tots. My husband got a burrito. After a 20% tip, it cost nearly $40. Turns out the tacos were $10 plus an additional $3 for guacamole, and the tater tots (24 of them) was $9! (Not listed on the menu). We were super bummed by the prices and will be rethinking our visits there in the future. read more

The atmosphere is good. They have a lot of TVs for sports and a fairly good layout so most seats are considered good. The service at the bar is quick and fast. The $2 Tecates are hard to beat. However, the service for the food is SOOO slow (after it got busy people were waiting in line longer than 30 minutes). I got a bean and rice veggie bowl (for the third time) and each time it gets worse. The rice wasn't cooked through and it was hurting my teeth to eat it. I didn't even finish the food. It also did not taste good at all (the guacamole is TRASH). Chipotle is like heaven compared to this bowl of food. Easily the rudest customer service that I have ever experienced in a restaurant or any other business. When I asked what the price difference was between a small and large burrito (there is only one price on the menu) the guy at the grill station responded with: "Well, a small is smaller and the large is bigger". realizing that he had mis-understood my question I said: "No, I was asking about the price difference" to which he responded: "No idea. I just make the food. I don't know what it costs." The guy was actually bordering on confrontational with me. We used to eat here a lot and it's been good but this definitely changed my opinion of the pace. read more
