Truck was at Franklin Square (14th & K) on a Thursday afternoon. Over a dozen truck choices, and went with the chicken gyro from pars kabob. Super glad I did! Was so excited to eat - I forgot to get a pic (which is rare for me). So the pic you see is a completely demolished gyro with one bite left. Was it messy, sure. Best date meal, prob not. But damn, it was good! Spicy sauce, big chunks of veggies, and very well cooked and seasoned chicken pieces. The big chunks of food probably made it messier than it needed to be, but the flavor made up for it!! Planned on take half back with me - let's just say I didn't need the extra container I asked for. First time at this truck and I am impressed. I ordered the combo, which is lamb & chicken over rice with a side saiad. Portion: the portion is enormous. This could easily be two lunches. Execution: the meats are both cooked very nicely and are juicy - even the chicken, which was surprising. Nice spices on both the chicken and the lamb. The rice is a bit bland - has a slight lemon flavor - but I guess that's a good thing as to not take away from the flavors of the meat. It's a basic rice (note: it is cooked well). The cucumber sauce is delicious, and I like the addition of the sriacha and appreciate that they ask before putting them on. The vegetables in the side salad were fresh. Price: $10.99 for this, which is in line with other trucks and I think a good value for the money given the quality and portion size. I'd return to this truck. read more

Two and a half stars. First customer of the day (#2 window opened 15 minutes after their Twitter account predicted), so a short wait for my food to be prepared by the polite staff. The meat is super moist, and I liked the bits of gristle in my chicken, but I preferred the gyro-style lamb. I feel like the large chunks of protein make the gyro wrap format difficult to consume, so I'd probably opt for the platter next time. Coarsely chopped lettuce hadn't been fully pulled apart. To be honest, the lamb meat isn't so much lamb but a mixture of different filler meats which I was not too impressed by. The flavor was good was the quality of "meat" not at all. I am mostly writing the review for how much I enjoyed the flavoring and tenderness of the chicken which was truly quite delightful. I was walking by trying to decide which food truck to patronize for lunch when the guy handing out samples practically put the sample of lamb in my hand as I walked by (kind of like how marathon runners snatch caps of water as they run by). I tried it, not thinking much of it, but it was much better than I expected. I checked out the other trucks, but all I kept thinking about was the taste of that lamb. So succulent and flavorful. This food truck was parked next to Farragut Park along with a bunch of others on a revolving daily schedule. I usually do a lap to see what's out there before deciding. This time, I got stopped 3/4ths of the way around by a shout of free sample. What was offered was a cube of lamb, which was not bad. After tasting it, I decided to give it a shot. I asked for a Lamb Gyro with all the toppings (lettuce, cucumbers, red onions, feta cheese, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce) minus the Sriracha. The gryo was stuffed to the max with tons of sauce. What I didn't enjoy too much was how my gryo was assembled. There were 2 slices of cucumbers stacked inside and not distributed across, which made for a bland bite. In addition, I thought there was just way too much lettuce to meat. The ratio wasn't the best. When I was given the free sample, it didn't occur to me that gryo meat is usually sliced and not cubed. This made a huge difference with each bite. Having chunks of meat like that makes it more difficult to have consistent bites. When I chomped down, I often found myself with either an entire piece of meat or none at all. Cubes of meat in a wrap don't offer enough real estate throughout. Cubes also made the gryo fatter than it needed to be, which made it very difficult to close. The gryo was sealed in thin foil and I tried peeling it away a little at a time in order to keep pita closed and all the ingredients falling out, but this was too messy and difficult as I ended up with a few casualties. The flavor of the lamb was nice and prevalent but slightly too salty when combined with the feta cheese. Tender. Tzatziki sauce was cool and refreshing, but could use a little more dill. Overall, I can't say I'd get this again due to the fact that it is a clumsy wrap to eat on-the-go and cubbed meat versus sliced meat. Over abundant amount of lettuce makes the wrap feel cheap. read more

3.25 stars. Pars Kabob is a relatively new truck specializing in gyro meat and chicken. While the prices are rather enticing, it was odd to see upcharges for simple combinations of the two different meat options or for ordering a gyro salad as opposed to a gyro sandwich. I settled on a gyro sandwich, discarded the sturdy pita, and went to work. My gyro sandwich consisted of gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, feta, tomato, onion, and lettuce. You can also add pepperoncinis and Sriracha sauce, but I opted out. The meat itself was decently spiced, but was a bit overcooked for my tastes. I would have preferred a bit more tomato and a bit less lettuce, but whatever, no real issues there. I thought the portion size for the gyro meat was rather admirable. For seven dollars, it's a decent sandwich. I'd probably repeat the exact same order if Pars Kabob was back in my work neighborhood. This was probably an above standard meal from a kabob truck that actually visits Friendship Heights. read more

After having (delightedly) sampled all of the kebab trucks which congregate around Farragut Square for lunch, I can say with that Pars Kabob handily wins on two counts: quality of ingredients and quantity of food. I'm what's known in the medical profession as a "remorseless eating machine" and even I've had trouble finishing a combo platter on rice from Pars. What exactly sets Pars apart from the other kebab trucks? It's the little details. Whereas most are content to give you some kind of long grain rice vaguely spiced with turmeric and cumin, Pars serves its rice platters on a bed of fluffy basmati that more closely mimics Persian-style rice. Likewise, whereas a lot of trucks' side salads are just iceberg lettuce and a solitary slice of mealy tomato, Pars actually includes a few real veggies and even a few pieces of herb--not to mention pepperoncinis and feta! Most importantly--at least as far as chicken goes--rather than dry, stringy pieces of chicken thigh meat, I was impressed to see that my meal included big, juicy chunks of chicken breast. Been twice now outside my office. Food is actually pretty good for your middle Easter/Mediterranean run of the mill food truck that you see five of each day. The reason for 2 stars is both times I've eaten there for lunch, I spent the rest of the afternoon feeling like crap. Stomach pains and multiple bathroom trips. Don't know if it's me or the food but it can't be a coincidence that it happened twice from the same truck. You can risk it for decent gyro but I probably won't be going back. read more

My kids (5 and 3) are not adventurous eaters - but they had their first lamb gyro here and loved it! (So did I). Generous chunks of lamb, fresh lettuce, cucumber, red onion and tomato, wrapped in what must be home made pita bread (wow) and topped with feta and creamy sauce (both incredible). Home run! It came with a big pile of paprika fries. But for the first time, they ignored the fries and ate their sandwich first. Not much left for me. The only negative is it would have been fun if they sold some authentic Persian drinks. But it's nice to have a streamlined menu. Very friendly service read more

I never miss Pars Kebab whenever they visit close to where I work! First off, I always get a gyro salad and only have experience with that item that they offer. This is because it was SOOO good the first time I tried it that I just have to keep going back to what I know is AMAZING. For a little over $8.00, the gyro salad is fresh, tasty, and hefty. After receiving my 3rd or 4th salad, I decided to weigh the item and my scale noted that the salad was close to THREE POUNDS! Also, it should be noted that they usually have everything ready in less than five minutes after order. Their french fries are OK too, but as I've only purchased them once, I can only say that they were appetizing. Pars delivers the best value with their hearty salads and kabobs! They are by far the most generous and tasteful of all the kabob shops on wheels that I have tasted in the last 2 years. The servers are very friendly and always accommodating my special requests. My favorite is the Lamb over salad for $10 its a cant miss option! Fresh quality cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, lettuce pepperoncini, tzatiki and I like to add siricha every time! I got lunch at this food truck today. The food looked good, but I had to refuse to eat any of it. I got my food and drink in a bag. I walked back to my "lunch spot" and sat down to eat. I was horrified to find bird crap on the cap of my diet coke bottle that had ran all the way down the bottle. SERIOUSLY!!!! Where do you people store your food!!!! There is no way I was going to eat anything else in that bag. Who knows how the container was stored? It was a shame throwing it away. It looked really good. I just could not bring my self to eat any of it. There are too many questions. I have a picture of the diet Coke in question, but I can not seem to attach a photo to this review. Ordered the combo platter which consisted of very tough, overcooked chicken cubes and lamb gyro shavings (the frozen package kind) which came on top of white rice and with salad on the side. The food was fine if you are hungry but had very little flavor. No wonder the woman inside the truck wanted to drown everything in the tzatziki and spicy sauce. Look elsewhere. read more

3.5 Stars. I work near the Van Ness metro station and was on my way to Potbelly when I saw this truck. I had actually been craving some middle eastern cuisine, so when I saw the truck I decided to stop and check it out. After seeing the rather reasonable prices, considering the location and typical prices of lunch in DC, I was intrigued and decided to get a lamb gyro and a side of fries. Because I never know what to expect from a food truck and I am a bit picky about my greek food, I did not set my standards extremely high, but the food did not disappoint. The gyro was well packed with pretty good meat and other toppings. It was cubed rather than sliced, which is different than my usual greek spot. The fries were seasoned and tasty and can definitely be enough for two people. If you go with a friend or coworker, I suggest splitting an order of fries if you decide to get some. In fact, if you want, you can split one gyro and one order of fries with a friend if you are into smaller meals like myself and there is enough meat to share! The only thing I will change when I visit this truck again is I will opt not to get the sriracha. I love sriracha, but I prefer it not to be on my gyro. Fortunately, they have a list of everything that goes on your sandwich or platter posted in clear sight, so you can make informed decisions! Overall, good lunch choice for about 10 bucks. read more

Ordered the gyro over rice and was really impressed with it. The gyro meat itself was quite good, not the best offered by a food truck but still really enjoyable. It was diced into tender cubes that had a nice crisp texture to them. The rice was a little on the plain side bite still had some flavor. It worked well with the meat, especially when combined with the somewhat average, somewhat idiosyncratic tzatziki sauce and the siracha sauce. The portions were quite large and the service was very friendly; they offered me extra tzatziki and siracha to make sure I had enough. Also, I ordered it without peppers and feta which was an added bonus because for some reason, many trucks manage to mess that up. My one complaint though would have to be the side salad, which had fresh ingredients but I would have enjoyed it much more if they tomato and onions were sliced thinner, that way it would more easily mix with the lamb and rice. Nevertheless, surely one of the better food truck kabob options. read more
