I've heard some good things about Mediterranean Cottage but I thought it was just okay. This Mediterranean restaurant is by that new Family Thai Restaurant. Small but they keep the place clean. One of the recommendations from this place is the cabbage roll. It was HUGE, and you won't be able to find any bigger cabbage rolls in town. Taste-wise, I wasn't too impressed. It tasted kind of bland for me, not enough flavors, with a lot more rice in it. The Tawook is supposedly their specialty marinated grilled chicken. Again, it tasted okay, and had more flavors than the cabbage roll. Could have been more moist and tender. Could definitely have been more "grilled." The chicken came out looking white with not much grill marks on them. I feel like there are other Mediterranean restaurants in Tulsa with better food. Had Shesh Lek platter to go earlier this week; generous portion of euros and chicken, with delightful, hummus and tabouli. Even the rice had great flavor. First, the owner was a little crusty over the phone. Had to call back and surmised that he had been getting a lot of spam calls. Second, beware the *substantial flavor* in the dish - I mean you're gonna need two breath mints from all that garlic. Third, for the 1299 price paid, I literally got two meals' worth of food. I've had shawarma just about everywhere in North America-- LA, Detroit, NYC, and Montreal to name a few. And so I feel I can say this is some of the best shawarma plate I have ever had. So tender and flavorful with a delicious tzatziki. The tabbouleh was especially delicious. And although not pictured, I tried the cabbage wrap, a Lebanese specialty and quite liked it as well. I also want to call out how great the customer service is. The owner is very friendly and treated everyone with respect and managed the rush that came in with my group well. Mediterranean Cottage is a one man ran, frugal, "half" hole in the wall diner. (That's right it is so small it is not even a full hole in the wall.) Mediterranean Cottage comes in 1st place for the best Mediterranean food in this shopping center. And yes, there is another Mediterranean restaurant in this shopping center. I have tried it. Avoid the other one that is a few doors down. Mediterranean Cottage is a basic, no frills, dining experience. Order at the counter, pay at the counter, pick your food up at the counter and buss your own table. All food served on/with disposable table ware. Limited drink options. An experience I can enjoy, if food is good. And it is! Enough ...the food. I had the Shesh Lek (combo platter) and my wife had the Tawook (advertised house specialty) platter. The Shesh Lek platter had a combination of all of the meats (Tawook, Shaworma, and Gyro). Both platters had the same sides plus a large serving of rice and pita for the hummus. Hummus good! Tabouli good! The meats were very good. The chicken was moist, tender with great flavor. The big "meat lover's sized serving" of gyro meat was pleasantly seasoned! All of the meat was topped with layer of toum. It added the perfect garlicy finish. It was a good meal! Good, but not making the cut for my top ten Mediterranean restaurants in Tulsa. HOWEVER It is definitely worth a try if you like Mediterranean food. This restaurant experience was an absolute nightmare, if you can even call it that. From the moment I walked in, it was nothing short of a disaster. The putrid smell and overall appearance were enough to make me feel physically sick. However, I tried my best not to judge and held onto a glimmer of hope that the food and service would redeem this dismal situation. Unfortunately, that hope was quickly shattered. As we began ordering, the owner/chef/waiter displayed an astonishing lack of enthusiasm. His demeanor was dry and uninterested, leaving me with a sinking feeling in my gut. Then, I made the mistake of asking if he spoke Arabic, as I do. His response was nothing short of rude and disrespectful. He had the audacity to question my nationality, claiming that my country no longer existed. To add insult to injury, he proceeded to spew derogatory remarks about the president. I couldn't stay silent and corrected him, informing him that my country does indeed exist. But, instead of acknowledging his mistake, he belittled me, claiming I knew nothing about politics. Little did he know, I was born and raised there, and I am well-versed in the political landscape. At this point, I wanted nothing more than to storm out of the restaurant. However, my husband had already paid, insisting that we at least give the food a chance and not let this miserable encounter ruin our evening. For the food, very disappointed. Hummas had no taste and no olive oil on it and chuncky. Falafel were made out of something other than garbanzo beans. what a bad impression and disgrace this is to middle eastern culturle/food! read more

The food was so so delicious, we went there at close to 8pm, but the owner kindly offered us seats to eat in after the closing time. And he even gave us extra treats and drinks saying those were apology for taking time to serve, what a kind person!!! it was my first time trying the Mediterranean food but it was 10/10 including my experience at the restaurant. It seems like this restaurant is short-staffed, so if anyone is looking for a job, I highly recommend this place!!!! I'll definitely visit there again:) read more

I saw someone talking about this place on facebook so we tried it today. Went in about 2:30. Mostly some people waiting for carry out but we decided to eat in. Someone else described it as a one man show in a half hole in the wall. That is probably about right. Don't expect fancy or even a metal fork. The good news is that you won't need any metal to enjoy what could be the best tasting mediterranean food in tulsa. We shared the tawook platter, cabbage roll, and Shwarma sandwich. Half of all of that is still in my fridge, servings are good. If you can be patient, this is a real winner. We will definitely be returning. The hummus was made today and it was so fresh tasting. The tabouli salad was more green than grain which i loved. I could eat a bucket of it. I hope people try this place. He seemed to know everyone by name so maybe one day he will know ours. Beware and Yikes! The positive Yelp reviews baffle me and my family. We've been eating Mediterranean food for decades and the food here should be avoided. First of all, the owner, Moe, comes off as the nicest guy in the world and he may be, but ........ Here's our experience. We ordered Cabbage Rolls and Beef Kafta. The Cabbage roll was HUGE and filled with extremely mushy rice (way, way over cooked) it had the consistency of mashed potatoes and the ground meat was NOT seasoned! Unbelieveable.The roll was horribly bland, mushy, cave man sized and gross! The Beef Kafta was literally just a round hamburger patty with a sprinkle of seasoning over it and flat grilled to the texture of leather. Kafta takes a decent amount of prep time and lots of seasoning with onions. This Kafta had no onions and none of the classic seasonings such as 7 spice, cumin, coriander, cinnamin, salt, pepper, etc. It literally sucked in flavor. We believe he must have ran out of the real thing, but didn't want to lose a sale and in my opinion hustled us thinking we wouldn't know what real Kafta looked and tasted like. The Tabouli had no olive oil, lemon or salt. The Hummus had no garlic! We ordered to go, so couldn't take it back and get a refund. We spent a lot of money on that mess of a family meal and suffered an expensive loss, but lesson learned because we won't be back. A once and done experience for us. This PLACE SHOULD BE AVOIDED and perhaps his competitor a few doors down has better Mediterranean that we will try in the future. read more

This restaurant is in a strip center with plenty of parking when I went at lunchtime during the week. You order at the counter and have a seat. Food will be brought to you. Beverages are packaged bottled water and soda and I believe they had iced tea as well. A complimentary bowl of lentil soup with vegetables was brought to me. It was warm and comforting on that chilly day. My order was Shesh Lek, which is a combination of the tawook chicken and the gyro meat over rice. The platter comes with hummus, tabouli and pita. The chicken had great flavor and was covered in some kind of garlic sauce. I don't know what it was but it was tasty. The gyro meat has tzatziki and is also very good. I believe the gyro meat here to be better than some I've tasted elsewhere that seemed greasy. The meat here was yum. The tabouli was the perfect mix for me of veggies, parsley and wheat. The hummus is good. You feel welcome when going there and the man, I assume is the owner, appeared to care for his customers and their experience. I would recommend a visit. Albeit we went right before closing, I have to give this three stars. The cabbage roll was huge and had good flavor which was great. BUT it was cold in the middle. The tabouli looked great, but was really dry. I added some lemon juice at home and it was fine. We had to try the food in the car because he was closing early and didn't give us a choice to dine in. Trust me, it wasn't closing time. He said he was just tired. Fair enough. Also there was another man walking around behind the counter with his stomach hanging out of his shirt and his behind hanging out of his pants. Not sure how much he was handling the food, but gross. To be honest I could make better cabbage rolls and tabouli at home. I think there is better Mediterranean food elsewhere. Not sure where all the excellent reviews are coming from.
