Awesome Mushroom burgers and Mediterranean food for more than a decade. Definitely a place worth frequenting.

I walked in and thought I was in for a great experience. It was an obviously locally owned place and had a small section full of Mediterranean produce and products. However, the first sign it was going to be a poor experience was when I ordered off the sign behind the counter. I ordered a gyros with a side of fries like the sign said, then the guy tells me he doesn't serve fries? I told him it was on the sign and he said he knows, he just doesn't want to buy a new sign. I wound up getting a side of rice, which was just ok, but figured the gyros would be amazing. Still another no. There was barely any meat on it, and it was obviously from one of those premade loaves you can pick up from Sam's or Costco. What a disappointment. I won't be back. read more

It's been 5 years since I've been back to Alfred's Mediterranean Grill. Things have changed, some are good while others not so great. The basic dining area is replaced by the market. Instead a fancier, all white party room was built 2 years ago which also serves as the dining area. Time has passed and so does inflation rate. The prices of all entrees have gone up. It's no longer a cheap Mediterranean eating place. You no longer get pita bread with hummus, cucumber yogurt and tabouli premeal when you order an entree. Stamp card system of buy 10 items and get one free has been long gone. What has not changed are the menu and Alfred who is still a one man show. He does everything himself. The food is still the same, comparable to other Mediterranean restaurants. Beef kabobs are the best at Alfred's. read more

What a find. Not the best neighborhood, but most good eats are found in the not so nice part of town. Super nice and clean! Decorated very nicely. The lil' shop has a wide variety of Mediterranean spices and items. The menu is typical. But oh man, was it good!! Gyro platter with hummus, tazsiki, rice and pita, for $10! Awesome meal! Used for catering. Food is so so good. Paid an arm and a leg for it but it was more than enough for everyone and people left our home raving about the juiciness of the kababs. Will be back again and again! Service and punctuality are exemplary. My husband gave them a tip just for being such wonderful people. read more

Great little place in East Tulsa. Found myself on South Mingo today and remembered Alfred's. It was a little after noon, so lunch was on my mind. Entered the place, and was greeted quickly by I suppose, the owner. Quickly glanced at the menu and went with the Mediterranean Platter. While waiting on my order I browsed the various spices, herbs and other offerings the place provides. Honestly, there's some pretty diverse stuff available, and I will be making a trip back to fill a few odd holes in my pantry stores. Food arrived very quickly, as you would expect. Don't let the looks fool you... this place delivers some great food. Not sure what it is with tabouli, but it seems you either get wheat with parsley added, or you get parsely with wheat added, with not much in the middle. Alfred's leans more to the parsely w wheat added, but it's still a great offering. Tart, flavorful and a great complement to the rest of the plate. The hummus is smooth and subtle in flavor. I could probably nosh my way through a gallon of this stuff. Rice was cooked perfectly, and I mean PERFECTLY. Not sticky, light and fluffy. The gyro meat was plentiful and very well prepared. There was more than enough for a good lunch portion. Served on the side was a nicely done yogurt sauce that just rounded out the entire plate. Alfred's Mediterranean Grill is a combination of a Middle East grocery store and a restaurant. You can find parking right in front of the place. The menu looks very attractive and is mainly divided into two main kinds: gyro meat and kabobs. We were gonna order the lunch special for two plate for $15.99 but the owner says we will need a 25 minutes wait. We were pretty hungry already so we just settle with the Mediterranean Platter instead. He said it's pretty common for the first time visitors to make this mistake of expecting having kabobs dishes but happens to find out it will take very long time to make. We should call ahead to order first. One thing I enjoy a lot about their food is that they have that homemade feel to it and not salty like the other mid-eastern restaurants. The gyro meat is tasty and have good texture. The hummus and rice are well-cooked but doesn't have much seasons to it. However, the Tabouli is very delicious (well-balanced). Pita bread is cooked as expected. One thing I want to share with you is that they have very reasonable prices for their groceries and have a great variety of dry herbs that you can't find even in Wholefood. Fresh Mediterranean food cooked and served with pride by the owner. Alfred's Mediterranean Grill is a one man show. The owner does it all. So if you are short on time, be very patient or, the best thing to do is call your order in about ten to fifteen minutes prior to your arrival. The chicken pita was very good. The combination platter came with tabouli, hummis, cucumber yogurt, pita, freshly grilled chicken, beef kabob and rice. It was a large meal. The beef kabob was well seasoned and had an excellent flavor. Overall a very good meal! The restaurant is small. There is nothing special about the atmosphere, but it is a clean and quiet place to have a very good Mediterranean meal. You can see the owner's pride in the way the restaurant is maintained and the attention he gives his customers. read more

Just moved to Tulsa from the Bay Area and honestly this little gem of a restaurant is making this move so much more bareable. Tulsa is extremely lacking in culinary diversity and finding an ethnic restaurant (of any ethnicity) that isn't watered down or minimized to appease the local (not as ethnically ranging) Tulsans is a whole chore. If you're in the area & not from the area & looking for seasoned flavored food, do yourself a favor and stop on by here. You'll be thankful you did. Also I want to point out that these flavors are not necessarily Mediterranean but rather Persian, & are huge sources of pride for people of the Persian Diaspora. Alfred you rock buddy! I'm not sure how I drove by this little gem everyday and didn't notice for years, but I'm sure glad my wife brought it to my attention! The cuisine here is Persian, owned by a very kind gentleman, and it was spectacular! It had a great flavor with the right amount of heat. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it as did my infant son. The gentleman that owns the place was so courteous and interacted with my boy. He was also patient with my son who decided to squeal loudly and throw food in the ground. He aims to please everyone and still has time to have a conversation. Despite the back lash on that girl who was supposably on drugs (never proven) he tries to do his best. A diamond in the rough. You know a restaurant is doing something right if it is a place you always think of on those days when you are feeling so hungry you could eat your arm but hardly anything sounds satisfying. This place is ALWAYS satisfying to me. I usually get the combo platter. It comes with grilled (but never dry) chicken as well as a beef kabob on a generous bed of perfectly seasoned basmati rice. In addition, you get fluffy pita triangles and individual servings of hummus, tabouli, and tzatziki sauce. All of which are flavorful and well-balanced! The tzatziki sauce and hummus are the standouts. The service is professional and the dining area always looks clean, as does what I can see of the kitchen area. The only thing that I wish they would do different that would enhance my experience is to be open a little bit later at night so that I could still get there for dinner after work. But I guess if I had it all the time I wouldn't crave it as much. read more

This place is a little hole in the wall, but it has great food. I ordered the Mediterranean Platter for 7.99. What got was a ton of Basmati rice with Gyro meat, tabouli, hummus, and pita bread. It was all delicious. I felt like it was a great value. I tried to order the lamb shank but they said it would be a 20 minute wait. I was on my lunch break so I didn't have the time to wait. I went back the next day and ordered the same thing again only this time I added yogurt. The yogurt was very Minty and delicious. I cant wait to try more things. read more

What a find!! Small, casual, tucked away in a small strip center. Everything was fresh, homemade and wonderful!! Alfred prepared everything. He specializes in catering, but offers a special menu each day. We had homemade hummus (Superb!), FRESH tabouli (awwwesomr), gyro meat over rice, and grilled chicken over rice. Fabulous!!
