Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. Infected employees were not immediately removed from duty, isolated, or replaced. There was no proper quarantine, masking enforcement, contact tracing, or notification to residents or their families. This exposed vulnerable senior residents, many with underlying medical conditions, to serious risk of illness. The staff were not given proper PPE or guidance on usage of PPE The Executive Director is an arrogant rude unprofessional disrespectful clown and a disgusting jerk who treats his staff especially in Assisted living as dirt. The food is unhygienic, bland and not worth for human consumption and the kitchen is infested with roaches and bugs. Unfortunately the dietary needs of residents are not taken in consideration. The hallways smell of urine and stale mold The elevator has been broken and non functional multiple times in Assisted living. Not to mention flooding of rooms is common during any rains.. The maintainance is equally despicable and pathetic.. and very slow to respond or too careless to respond.¹ This facility is not worth any negative stars.

He immediately understood my situation, my budget, and the level of care my dad needs. He selected the most appropriate options and even took me on a tour himself. Since I don't drive, he kindly drove me to each facility. Aaron is local and very familiar with the area's memory care communities. He had the most up-to-date pricing, availability, and real feedback from residents and families. They settled in and generally appreciated the staff and the environment. Their complaints were minor. On a warm Saturday morning in June 2023 they signed out of BV on the resident log stating that they were headed "out to breakfast." After breakfast, they went to their home to retrieve a few items as they were preparing to sell the home. Mom fell around lunchtime on Saturday on the back patio. My step-dad is cognitively and mobility impaired and his phone was not charged so he could not seek assistance. Buckner did not notice that they missed lunch on Saturday. Or dinner. Or medicines on Saturday evening. Bucker did not notice that they missed breakfast on Sunday as well as lunch, dinner, and medicines on Sunday evening. A reasonably careful employee should have checked the log at each point and asked whether "breakfast" should last that long. A reasonably careful employee would have called mom or my step-dad to see if they were ok. A reasonably careful employee would have called me to check her phone's location or trace their steps. Buckner did none of these things. A neighbor notified us that the garage door had been open for more than a day and we discovered my mother had passed away and my step-dad was barely responsive. We returned my step-dad to Buckner at around 11pm and Buckner refused to administer his medicines saying he had already been given medicines for the evening. That was a lie (to cover someone's tracks) and a dangerous lie because he needed his medicines. If you have family at Buckner Villas assisted living, make sure you have some way to monitor them independently.

I have mixed feelings about this facility. On one hand, the staff seems really nice. My mother…read moresaid the food was good. And in Skilled Nursing, there seemed to be a stream of people in and out but we as family, had to be there there 8 am - 8 pm once she was unresponsive because unless we asked for help with hygiene tasks or ensuring meds were given, we didn't see them done without being present. Her room seemed to be reasonably clean. And we added Hospice to her care team so that fills in some gaps that don't seem included in Skilled Nursing. Downsides are things like Call Buttons not working. Forced movements during PT that cause injuries, even when my mother objected. The swelling in her ankles made her ankles hit equipment and her leg became raw and inflamed to the degree a blanket on her skin was painful. Staff not being sure what time medications were administered. (we asked about a dose and although they said they gave it, no one could say when or give a time. And a family member was visiting ( that family member was ME) and no one came in while I was there so was she given meds or not? We were a bit concerned because not even a time could be confirmed through a chart. Worrisome. No one there (including me!) knows how to put in hearing aids!! I googled this process to learn how to insert them because my mother was frantic without them and I had zero experience with them. She (my mother) was bleeding from her foot, with blood pooling on the floor. No one noticed so I had to summon someone to bandage her up. My mother chose this facility and it was recommended by her doctors. She was lucid, cognitive and very involved her decisions when she arrived. This was her choice and a place she felt was the best fit for her (home or family living was no longer an option. The family really felt obligated to respect her wishes since she was fully capable of calling the shots.) She did pass away 22 days later. Maybe my expectations were too high. Or maybe I am just paralyzed by grief. I will say we were fortunate that we had 3 family members that took 4 hour shifts to be there for the 12 hours of visiting hours every single day. I can't imagine how things would have gone without our being there if she had lived long enough that we couldn't we there 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. Regardless of where my head is (grief stricken which is why I didn't review while she was still alive). I am still unsure on how I feel about the SNF side of Brookdale. Many things are in poor repair. Paint, scuffed walls, cracks in walls and doors, light and call buttons not working. My mother was self pay and for a shared room and 9300.00 a month, I thought ... I don't know... I guess I thought it should be cleaner and better maintained. Final note: parking was kind of a nightmare on weekends. Be prepared to park, then walk quite a distance to the entrance. I have a handicap placard but so does almost everyone visiting. So... OK if your loved one is lucid. Ok if you can be there long days and keep an eye on things we assumed they did in Skilled Nursing. The broken lights didn't affect care I guess but as a troubled family, we kind of expected better care (like not having to point out pools of blood or the fact she got bedsores in only 3 weeks and could they please reposition her more often? Then we had to ask them to do these things. It's a tough field to work in. Staff is understaffed and probably underpaid. I do know if I personally need this kind of care, with my children out of state, I would not want to come here.

The facility supports a diverse schedule of activities - on premises, external field trips and social gatherings. Recently, they have undergone some renovation - carpet replacement, painting, replacement of furniture and artwork. Today, some additional renovation was being done in the lobby floor and the front desk was very helpful in sharing an alternative path. Atria appears to be a beautiful facility with an incredible greenbelt view. The facility also provides on-site meals for their residents in addition to hair and nail salon services.
