I used to really like this place. It was convenient and had great food. Eddie the owner is a good guy but this place has really gone down within the last year. When the owner Eddie is present, it isn't too bad but when he is not there you can expect the worst. I ordered a couple salads and it was literally thrown in a bag and the dressing spilled everywhere. The lettuce was old and so were the additions on the salad, like the onions. Also when calling for a carry-out a lot of mistakes happen, always check your bag before you leave. Hoping this place can get their act together. read more

Wow. This used to be a real staple for me Downriver but after today's experience -- it's gone down just like the city of Riverview. Ordered a carry out Greek salad which I usually get being always fresh and quality. But, today's salad was old, runny, the lettuce was still drenched, and the salad dressing was already open spilling -- adding to the wetness. I was going to return it asking for my money back but was on a time crunch and hungry so I just chalked it up. Very disappointing because this used to be a really great place! Horrible and just keeps getting worst. Been to the disgrace of an establishment a handful of times each time saying I would never return but have decided to give it one more chance for the last time after a waiter threw ice tea at me. I've gone this place a number of times by I'm just going to sum up 3 events which led me to believe this is the worst Coney Island in wyan county EVENT.1.) Battle of the Broth: The Stupid Soup War! This was far from a battle more like a war just to get my soup. To sum it up I order soup as one does, after I got my drinks, 30 minutes after I place my order and the waiter finally comes back to the table empty hand. I thought soup came before your meal but maybe not idk. But the real spiny is that she asked what soup I order after 30 minutes of me airing there by the way it wasn't event busy, I though after she asked bout my soup I would get it but no. My food came still no soup. Find I didn't need soup no big deal I guess she forgot or something but than she had the nerve to put it on my bill. EVENT.2.) Splash zone: this was a diffent day btw and I was just siting eating my food. 1 hour mind you before they closed and I got splashed with dirty mop water and not just like alittle my shoes and pants were soacked. It's not a club: this was my last and finally time going here, I was siting and eating, and I ran out of ice tea so I asked for another one, and the waiter holding only an ice tea, and she dropped it on me and all over the food. Breakfast, lunch or dinner... this place is a winner. I enjoyed a great BIG breakfast special for under ten bucks this morning and it filled me up. Great service, tasty food, big portions and great value. It was so good I came back for dinner. Same friendly service, a delicious gyros sandwich with onion rings and topped off with lemon meringue pie. Winner, winner a delicious dinner. Kudos to the super friendly and helpful waitress. The food was decent. The service? No. I visited here with my partner and kids on 6/7/23 at 1pm-1:55pm. Our server was Andrea. Right from the beginning, it seemed she had a poor attitude. She would toss the straws on the table, was very short, didn't provide a welcoming greeting. She did not check on us. She only took our order, brought us food and brought the bill. She did not ask if we needed refills, she did not ask if we needed boxes. I went and got more coffee from someone else and boxes. My partner wanted to order a coke after the bill was brought without us being asked if we wanted anything else or if we wanted the bill. She took the receipt out of my hands and stated "Okay" very rudely. Very poor service and I am not happy with the way she interacted with my family. read more

this is the worst biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The gravy is white gravy out of a packet with no seasoning added and up sausage link inside it. It doesn't look good and it taste terrible. I come here 4 times a week for carry out or bringing my family and friends up here. We spend a minimum of a few hundred dollars a week. Today 1/7 I came in alone and got a big breakfast and wanted an additional 2 eggs no scrambled but sunny side up because that's how eat my toast as well with scrambled. My server with black hair who was an elder told me the cooks won't do it. I said I'll add eggs on how can they refuse a simple order. She then had someone else bring me my food not the way I wanted it because she knew I wasn't going to send it back. And then switched myself server because she knows how ridiculous that was. I'm not picky and the new server told me no as well.??? I am so confused and baffled and frustrated. I'm not a prick so i don't know why I got refused by the chef to make a simple order. Just lost a loyal customers because of the chef and servers attitude. I FaceTimed my family and there actually jaw dropped too. This was so stupid and rude. I'm so embarrassed they made me feel so incompetent for asking for 2 scrambled amd 2 sunny side up then refused and trading off servers and still getting wrong food. The Coney Digs are good but, the fries were soggy. And the lemonade taste more like water with a hint of lemon. For these reasons I only give this location 2 stars. Tried it again after a year... WORSE. Ordered 2 Coney Dog combos and kids chicken tenders meal. Chili sauce was very dark as if it had been sitting too long over heat. Hot dog buns were over stemmed with dried out , hard ends. Ordered lemonade which, was a very heavy concentrated syrup mix . TERRIBLE to say, the least. Will not ever, ever, ever, ever go to this location again. read more

I left my eggs and meat on the plate.. there was no way I was going to eat anything off that plate. So, now we get to the good part! The owner is a very nice man. They have tons of Daily specials. Today they have braised Lamm shank, Jumbo shrimp, pork chops, and more on special. They have daily soup specials which you can get with a nice crusty bread bowl. Their Greek salad is nice and fresh. English cucumbers are partially peeled, and cut into thick bite size rounds. They use a really nice quality pita. The only problem was my rye toast was gummy inside, and burned. Not good. This is a very popular Coney Island, and is alway busy, packed with regular clientele at lunch and dinner. read more

Fourth restaurant of my club sandwich review. The Parthenon is the benchmark. I entered to a very busy, very very clean, large restaurant for a carry out club sandwich with an enthusiastic and smiley hand off. The sandwich was the bar....roasted( not lunch meat turkey), well balanced, fresh ingredients( BLT,) with no cheese. The rye toast tasted like rye. That is a 5 star club! I am trying to be understanding because I know we are in the middle of a pandemic and I realize restaurants are being hit particularly hard, but I really think this place just lost a loyal customer. I work midnights and I stop here after work about three days a week because I don't feel like cooking after being on my feet for 12 hours. On this particular occasion, I was given rotten broccoli and eggs over hard. I ordered them over easy. No big deal, right? I'll call them and ask if I can get my order fixed. Nope! When I called, the young waitress who is very rude by the way, cuts me off in the middle of my explanation and puts me on hold without saying anything. The manager picks up the phone and tells me they just opened the broccoli so there was no way it was rotten and it turns that color because they put it on the grill. Does it also smell like garbage because they grill it? No. It smells and looks like that because it is ROTTEN. He also informed me that my eggs were cooked the exact way I specified. He read my order back to me and said "three eggs over easy." Well I'm sitting here looking at completely set yolks. So, I am being told I'm wrong and they are right. He's arguing with me and telling me they don't do refunds or exchanges. So I just wasted my money because this food was inedible. I guess this place has no integrity. They don't want to fix their mistakes. I don't appreciate being argued with and told I'm a liar, so I won't be returning. They obviously don't care enough about their customers anyway. Parthenon Coney Island - "Over easy" eggs - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Riverview, Michigan

We stopped in around 3pm tuesday 6/18/24. Ordered a gyro sandwich with fries and a deluxe cheeseburger with onions rings and a coke. We asked if the burger be cooked to medium doneness and the waitress said "yes". Fast forward...the food arrives and the first thing we notice is that the burger was very thin and perfectly round and looked like one that comes out of a bag of uniformly formed frozen patties, not fresh or hand formed. And of course it was WAYYY past medium. The fries appeared to be previously frozen and were dried out and tasted terrible. The onion rings were the kind where you take a bite and the whole onion slips completely out of the breading and just hangs there dangling in space. The gyro meat was dried out and the tzatziki sauce was nearly the consistency of water and severely lacking in flavor. We told the waitress about our concerns and she said the manager would come over and talk to us. We didn't finish our food and the manager NEVER came to our table. We asked for a box to go but on the way home we discussed whether we would even give the leftovers to the dog. That meal cost us $29.52 It was HORRIBLE and we will NEVER return to this slop house. My wife and I have been coming to Pathenon for breakfast on Saturdays for several years. Yes, this is a typical Michigan coney island type of restaurant. So, if you visit with this in mind and know that this is not Roast or The Rattlesnake Club then your expectations will be realistic. We've always had good service and our coffee cups and waters are always kept full. This is always a big deal for my wife and I at any restaurant we go to and they never disappoint in this regard. The prices for the portion sizes seem pretty reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants. On our most recent visit, I had Breakfast Special #1 and my wife had Breakfast Special #2. Both of these are very inexpensive. With Special #1 you get two eggs, toast, and choice of hash browns, home fries or grits. With Special #2 you get the same plus your choice of ham, bacon or sausage. One of us always gets Special #2 and then we share the ham because they give you two decent sized slices. We also got an order of the Cinnamon Raisin French Toast to spilt. You can get both cinnamon and powder sugar on top but we chose only cinnamon. The french toast was very tasty, nice & warm and not dry. Also, it doesn't hardly need any syrup because it has a nice, subtle sweet taste. We would certainly recommend Parthenon for a good Saturday morning breakfast. read more

Embarrassing visit to this establishment. Terrible service, and did not get my order right in the slightest for my takeout order. I'm not one to complain about slight errors, but when I specifically AND purposefully ask for chili fries instead of chili cheese fries due to lactose problems and you don't listen, you're never getting my money again. You can tell there was no care when it came to packing our order, someone threw a half open Italian dressing tub in the bag that the fries were placed in and it went all over the inside of our order. Things like that are completely senseless, and it really shows how much your workers care about making a quality experience. Philly steak wrap was edible, but the steak had no flavoring. Loose burger was a loose-burger, their chili falls flat in comparison to Wild Coney in my opinion. Maybe Parthenon is trying to compete with Zorbas now when it comes to the worst Coney Island on Fort Street. Disappointing, spend your money at the Wild Coney in Southgate on Northline. read more

Was here for lunch with my friend. The staff is friendly and helpful as usual. I liked my greek salad and gyro. My friend liked her chicken fajita wrap and curly fries. The waitress was very nice and offered to let me try the gyro meat because I don't like lamb and it is a mix of lamb and beef. I liked it though. Consistently good so far 2015 update-We have been coming here for a few years now when I am home visiting. I have tried many things here, all good. The can must been bad for sitting out that long...It had happen a few time ... the first time I complained about it guy was really nice to remake it and brought new salad out.... After being a patron at Parthenon Coney Island for many years, I had ordered take-out for their Parthenon and Hawaiian salad. Found that both salads contained spoiled tomatoes, sour pineapples and mandarin oranges; plus, the banana was very over-ripe. You could even smell it was bad. You'd think they would check their salad ingredients - especially if they know it's been sitting around, unused, for some time. Nope. I had always been a fan of Parthenon....sadly, not any more, for they should know better than to try and pass off spoiled food and think the customer will just accept it. Great food, horrible service(except for the former Ramsey's server). Maybe its just us (we sit and talk after the meal) but it almost seems like the owner is giving us bad service on purpose. The food is always great, its just the servers bring the bill before they ask you if you want a refill on your coffee. And if you do ask, they ask "do you want it to go?". No. I would like to sit for a little while and enjoy my coffee thank you. Again, maybe I paranoid, but it seems on purpose. UPDATE: Definitely better service. This is a small clean restaurant with quite the selection. They offer a flaming dish for entertainment too where they light cheese on fire. The prices look reasonable but everything is also carte so it is actually a bit high. If you buy.. say a sandwich and fries. That will run you about $10. The Salads are huge, (bacon would be great as an addition!)., The gyro was packed with meat, I had to cut it with a knife as I couldn't pick it up..... Super disappointed. There is something off about the food. I've eaten there twice now. Once for breakfast, which was the average Coney Island breakfast, nothing mind blowing but still good. However, I'm writing this because of the utter disappointment that is their chili, a staple at any Coney Island. It tasted burnt like it'd been reheated multiple times then left to sit on the stove warming all day. I ordered chili cheese fries, so needless to say this was already off to a poor start. The fries themselves were not edible either, there was an odd chemical flavor to them that I couldn't quite pinpoint. Also they were undercooked. Place is pretty big for a Coney island. Clean. But a lil overdone on the bussers part to keep it clean. I had one come grab a plate from next to me with out even asking if I was finished when I was still picking at my salad! Servers are under trained, slow and look unhappy to be there. They kinda just sit and watch you from behind the main counter and then you have to motion to get their attention to ask for something. Mainly because there will be 3-5 of them gossiping. I'm guessing there are so many waitresses that they get bored waiting for tables, as well probably do not make very good tips due to competition and their lack of desire to be there. I have been here 3 times and each time a waitress has come over and asked if we were ready to order or knew what we wanted with out even bringing us menu's. It was ok the first time, irked the hell out of me the second and third. Food was good, nothing above average. But prices seemed higher. I'm guessing its because its a hugh bulding that they tried to fancy up as you can see from the pictures. and I can only imagine the lease on a place this size and in the area it's at. Do not go into Parthenon expecting anything more than a Denny's. The breakfast is good but every other dish is nothing to praise about. The atmosphere and menu lack personality usually found in other small-time coney island scattered about Michigan. We went to breakfast on 12/3, having ordered an omelet and a cheese burger with Swiss. The burger was delivered with American so we sent it back. The cook/owner just scrapped off the bacon covered cheese and put a piece of Swiss on top (which wasn't even melted). There was still American cheese on the burger- kinda lame. So we sent it back again; meanwhile the fries got cold. When the cashier asked how our meal was we said not good, and she offered to the owner. He sent her back and said 10% off the bill, all the while giving us crappy glares from behind the counter. Too many coney islands in town to deal with that poor service. read more
