They give so much hummus in that order! The chicken is pretty good - not the best but definitely standard. The pita isn't house made so it was decent but not fresh or warm. They forgot my lemon chicken soup in my takeout order which was pretty disappointing since I was really looking forward to trying that. They offered to give me one next time I was in which I guess was okay but I didn't want to make another trip back there before my flight just for a soup. So bit unfortunate. Pita To Go is another one of your neighborhood Middle Eastern restaurants. I think it's one of the few with an actual drive thru - you certainly don't see them much on mom and pop Middle Eastern restaurants. I stopped by for lunch on a weekday and picked up: Beef Shawarma Pita ($5) - This sandwich is filled with tahini, tomato, onion, pickles, parsley and beef. The construction is pretty heavy on the tahini causing it to drip out while you eat, The pickles are cucumber rather than the pink radish ones as is typical in a meat/beef shawarma and I didn't find much parsley inside the sandwich. There's not a huge amount of added spice so some beefy flavor comes through from the meat, along with that classic kind of sourish and savory flavor from beef shawarma spices. Chicken Shawarma Pita ($5) - This has a completely different flavor profile as compared with the beef due to the chicken shawarma spice mix. Inside is garlic, tomato, pickle, and the obviously the chicken. The chicken isn't the most moist, but the garlic helps out in that regard. The garlic is quite pungent and strong, with a large amount of added salt. This makes the sandwich a lot saltier than the beef shawarma. As a whole, the sandwich is wrapped tightly together and stays intact with no leakage while eating. Pita To Go is one of the few places left that still has $5 shawarma sandwiches, but the sandwiches are also a little smaller than some other places, weighing in at only 8.5oz. You can especially see in the Beef Shawarma picture I posted how much they overlap the pita to reduce the amount of fillings. I'll have to drop in again for the $8 wrap to see how much bigger it is. Also, I don't believe they shave the meat off a spit. I didn't see any shawarma spits inside the kitchen and the meat comes in smaller chunks that don't seem shaved. But there's always a chance I could be wrong. Garlic, 2oz ($0.75) - This is a good garlic: nice and strong, extremely pungent garlic flavor, with a bit of acidity, It is perhaps a bit heavy on the salt. There aren't too many fillers in this one - no yogurt, potatoes, etc. There's a bit of grit (not a bad amount) because the garlic isn't processed until super smooth. Overall, it's more of a paste than fluffy whipped like some other places. If you like a toum that is super garlicky, you will love this one. I'd say the shawarma here is pretty good and the garlic is great. Definitely give Pita To Go a shot if you're nearby and in the mood for Middle Eastern food. read more

The Fattoush salad is packed with so much flavor & perfectly seasoned chicken . The salad even came with a side of pita so my boyfriend made me a little wrap too , very filling ! we gave this place a shot, and were left disappointed!!! 1.) food is way over priced. we have spent upwards of a $1k for carryout for good mediterranean food and while this bill was only about a tenth of that, the proportions are VERY SMALL and they LIED about the bread they give out- they didn't give us any bread for our large hummus appetizer. and for our several large entrees, only 1 small piece of pita bread- REALLY?!!!!! 2.) don't order the dessert here- both the Rice Pudding and Carrot Cake are packed with too much sugar- either one will bring you one step closer to developing diabetes type 1!!!! 3.) we WILL not be going back here, only good thing to say is that the young man who worked the drive through was nice... read more

Pulled up to drive through got a menu chose a chicken shawarma dinner you get two sides I chose rice pilaf and house salad we was told pull over to the side they'll bring the order out and five minutes later the order was there out and smelling good! My sister didn't order but I let her taste the shawarma meat since she paid for everything lol she agreed it was the best we had had in a long time she will definitely order real soon! You can taste the smoky flavor in the chicken the chicken wasn't dry the rice pilaf I was in love with it tasted so good! That house salad was everything fresh green lettuce and tomatoes and cucumbers and house dressing which was the dressing for the fautoosh salad. Wow. Was in town for a short stay and picked this place randomly for a quick bite, how surprised I was with the awesome chicken shawarma pita! I could tell the chicken was freshly grilled and it was cut/shredded into the perfect size with just the right amount of garlic sauce, tomatoes, and pickles. Simple and delicious. Exciting to have 3 new food places to open in city of Lincoln Park in just 2 weeks. The owner Chef was head Chef a prestigious Dearborn Lebanese restaurant branched out to his first Restaurant. Let tell you a large menu of much more than Pita sandwiches. Full of marvelous Middle Eastern cusine. The name kinda confusing thinking just rolled sandwiches, oh no a whole lot more with inside dining beautifully decorated n restroom. A great feast we had the platter for 2 fed 3 of us with leftovers. Started with Fatoush Salad, Lentils Soup n Stuffed Grape Leafs Wonderful. The platter filled with Kafta, Chicken Tawook n Lamb Kebab all tender juicy loaded with flavor. A bed of Rice topped with Almond Slivers, Toum, Tahini n Hummus absolutely outstanding value for your bucks. I added on Armenian Lebanese Sujuk Sandwich Wowed. Ordered just to try something new and I'm so glad I did. As a vegetarian usually we have 1 option on the menu. Not only do they label everything you can eat as vegetarian but they have so many options especially for their wraps and pitas. I do love Mediterranean food but this is definitely one of my favorites. I got the falafel pita but with garlic instead of tahini and didn't even feel like I could finish it.
