In the past, this has been my choice for a breakfast place. Unfortunately my last few trips have been subpar. The service is still great, we especially love Stephanie. However I have seen a real decline in the way the food is prepared. My once perfectly cooked bacon, is now burnt. The toast has been nothing more than warm buttered bread. We went to breakfast on 12/3, having ordered an omelet and a cheese burger with Swiss. The burger was delivered with American so we sent it back. The cook/owner just scrapped off the bacon covered cheese and put a piece of Swiss on top (which wasn't even melted). There was still American cheese on the burger- kinda lame. So we sent it back again; meanwhile the fries got cold. When the cashier asked how our meal was we said not good, and she offered to the owner. He sent her back and said 10% off the bill, all the while giving us crappy glares from behind the counter. Too many coney islands in town to deal with that poor service. read more

Great family Coney Island. Clean and food is inexpensive ! I ended up loosing my wallet and I was so nervous. The manager ended up calling my phone from the caller ID and Told me he had it there for me. I have found this place to be consistently good. I have had several things on their menu and all are very tasty and prepared as requested. The waitress staff is very attentive to your needs and checks on you often. I've eaten there and have used carry out as well. One particular waitress stands out . Taylor has always done an outstanding job making sure drinks are filled and made suggestions to our order. I tried, I truly did. We went there twice and twice we were left sitting drinkless and waitress-less at a non-busy time of day. The first time it happened I figured it was a fluke. A few weeks later we tried again, and the same thing happened. We were able to look at a menu all we wanted because no one came over to take an order. Now, I happen to adore coney restaurants. They remind me of the comforts of childhood and family happiness. So, when one opens up nearby I make time to go and see if I have a new favorite. Sorry, Parthenon. Horrible service,cancelled our order and left.Hands down some of the worst service I have ever seen went there with my family after being seated the waitress asked for our drink order we all just wanted water,after 10 minutes of not coming back the manager asked us what we wanted to drink again we said water, a different server brought us water and took our order I asked the girl about 2 of the specials which was better? Her response was I don't know I don't eat either ok even if you don't eat that say it's great we have a lot of people order both we placed our order then noticed all of our waters had what looked like soap residue floating in it and my girlfriends cup had food or soap stuck to the outside of the cup at this point we cancelled our order and left. As we walked out the manager was waiving goodbye at us this was one of the rudest things I have ever seen as far as treating a customer he never tried to see what the issue was just more or less go somewhere else we don't need your business well we will never return and their are to many good little places to eat in this area to be treated badly I will spend my money elsewhere so to the manager goodbye to you. read more

I visited this restaurant on Friday night (March 11, 2016) and ordered a tuna plate. The food was not impressive, but that isn't why I am leaving this review and a 1-star rating. While I was waiting for my food, the manager, who was noticeably heated, terminated a young waitress in ear shot of all the other employees, AND CUSTOMERS!!! This is a matter which should be handled privately and not in front of patrons. The manager demonstrated very unprofessional behavior in how this situation was handled. After a long, stressful day at work, I did not go out to dinner to witness a floor show like this. No one else in the restaurant seemed very impressed by this behavior as well. My husband and I visit Parthenon nearly every weekend for breakfast. Service is always fast and great (ask for Stephanie!) and the portions are generous. The huge Parthenon Special has 3 eggs, 3 meats, hash browns and toast for like 6 bucks. I'm a fan of the cinnamon french toast which you can order as a combo with 2 eggs & either sausage or bacon. The eggs are always cooked perfectly no matter how you order them. In my opinion the hash browns leave a little to be desired, but they will let you sub out pancakes, grits, or tomato slices for the hash browns. Omelets are great and big also. Honestly we've only eaten lunch/dinner there once or twice that I can remember. I tried a coney once which was OK, fries were good and hubby enjoyed the club sandwich.......but breakfast is our main choice here and we'll continue to go back & see Stephanie! read more

The service was friendly, not that great about drink refills but ok. The taco soup was really good! I ordered a corned beef sandwich and it was packed with weird american Velveeta like cheese. I couldn't taste the thin dried up corned beef shavings at all. The chili dog and chili fries looked good but the fries were undercooked and the chili was just off. I couldn't have eaten the chili but my person added ketchup and plowed thru. Watching the many flaming cheeses was fun and the staff was very friendly. Going forward I will over look the dirty enviriment and enjoy my cheaper food across the street at Zorba's. read more

I have only visited the Riverview location of this establishment. However, on their menu they listed a couple others. Unlike the experience other people had, the lot wasn't full and the diner was fairly empty. We decided to eat here because of location and a slight time frame of needing to be somewhere else in Riverview. I ordered the Gyro Platter which came with a decent helping of gyro meat, rice with sauce, a side of cucumber sauce and an uncut piece of pita bread. My girlfriend got a bowl of the chicken lemon rice soup and a medium sized greek salad bowl. I only had one taste of the Chicken Lemon Rice soup and it was fairly devoid of any lemon at all. Maybe the pot wasn't "stirred" before the bowl was served. It tasted like a decent chicken noodle soup. In the world of Chicken Lemon Rice, I'm guessing that may be somewhat of an insult. I had one of the beats from the greek salad and it tasted fine. My girflriend claimed the greek dressing was very good and enjoyed her meal. The gyro meat was tasty but at moments was VERY hard... even crunchy. So much cucumber sauce was needed. Unfortunately, in this situation, you get charged for every extra little cup of cucumber that they give you.. every small cup you may want is 39 cents each. I suppose I would may make dry food as well if I'm charging that much for small cups of sauce. The extra dressing for the salad however had no additional cost. I jokingly referred to my gyro meat as "Lamb Jerky" every once and a while. Naturally, the thinner sliced pieces were the ones that tended to take on the jerky-esque form. I asked the waitress but she didn't know.. but assured me she would find out... whether or not the rice served to me was Uncle Bens packaged microwave rice. It tastes IDENTICAL to it. I don't know if it's the packaging Uncle Bens uses or some ingredient added but it has a very distinct flavor. This coney island was spot on with that same EXACT flavor. It made me giggle at first but in reality just made me not want to eat the rest of it outside of two-three bites. Clearly either they ran out of rice or no real effort was taken to cook rice. And that disappointed me out of any coney island. The pita bread came out warm and good with both meals. It disappoints me to say I would avoid this place. I embrace non-chain restaurants of all types and it bugs me that this experience was so poor. Even if you see a packed parking lot, I would keep driving south and find a staple in the Riverview community- Zorbas. Or make the treck to Downriver Coney Island on Eureka. If you want the EXACT same food selection except leaps and bounds better in preparation(and slightly in price actually) go to Little Daddy's. read more

Unfortunate to hear that the other reviewers have had a poor experience at Parthenon because I have found Parthenon to be the best coney island downriver so far. I have been awaiting the day for another good addition to the choices for eating out in the area. I also prefer to eat at non-chain restaurants, so I was very excited to hear about the opening. To this day, I'm not so sure how the waitress knew, but my first experience in dining in, me and my boyfriend sat down at our table after being warmly greeted. It was in the early afternoon - prime time for most restaurants. They were pretty packed, but not crazy (I have been in in the afternoons at time, and the buzz around the restaurant is wild, and despite this, we still received good service). Anyways, the waitress asked if it was our first time. We said yes. She was incredibly friendly and cheerful and really brought a smile to our faces as she explained facts about the restaurant and how the cook is there at 5 am to start smoking the meats everyday! Needless to say, I was impressed! What an amazing way to be introduced to the restaurant! I've never seen anybody do this ever again though, which makes me very curious! Lol. However, ever since, the service has been just as good and always appropriate. The waitresses are pleasant and helpful. The manager is always there and making sure everything is good. They have a sense of quality that I feel so many coney islands lack. Their service really took me off guard as to how professional every body was--a very friendly and wholesome feel. And the chicken did taste phenomenal. You could taste that they were smoked to perfection. I've been to Parthenon about 20 times now, and every time, the food has also been just as good as the service. Some of my favorite choices are the Grilled Chicken Wrap, The Parthenon Salad (try the raspberry vinaigrette - never tasted any better!) which has amazingly large portions if you order a large, and the Chicken Stir Fry. I've tried the Stir Fry at just about everywhere around town and these guys do it best. I've also order the Lemon Rice Soup multiple times, and I found that it was overwhelmingly lemon-flavored, but that is totally my thing. Isn't that the point? I don't know what happened to David R.'s tastebuds, but seriously, the Lemon Rice Soup is always very lemony. The wait is always perfect. Just enough time for me to drink a cup of coffee; not too long or too early. I also just tried carry out for the first time the other day and I was very pleasantly surprised. If you want to go somewhere where the atmosphere and the food are both above average, I would advise to go to Parthenon and try it out for yourself. We have eaten there several times. They have a great menu, the place is very clean, and the wait staff friendly and efficient, but, the breakfast cook is a big problem. I like my toast dry and well done; the cook does not. As a result, the breakfast comes with buttered toast that is repeatedly returned for dry, and the eggs cool while the new toast are prepared light, not well done. This has happened the last four (and last) times we have been there. I believe that the cook struggling with a hostility problem; no one is that incompetent by accident. read more

Every time I've been, the food has been on point. I usually get the Philly omelette, my favorite lunch combined with breakfast. I always opt for fries instead of hash browns which is an odd request but they always get it right, along with not forgetting my side of ranch as well. The only down side is the pricing. I got the coney dog and a caesar salad. Not impressed with the coney dog. The weiner was ok.. but the chili wasn't very good and half the hot dog bun tasted a bit stale which was weird. Depending on the time of day, this establishment is one of the better customer service experiences in the neighborhood. Decent prices, well cooked food, and wide variety of choices makes it a perfect place to go for any meal. Still, it's your average coney island, but with quick service and being better then most in the area, this is my no.1 choice. read more

This is a great friendly place for lunch anytime. I came here with my brother over my spring break and when we walked in the door we were promptly greeted by the hostess and seated. Our drink orders were taken and brought to us about a minute later. The food was brought out to us just as we wanted and in under 10 minutes. We went around lunch time so the restaurant got busy but our waitress was very friendly and attentive making sure we had everything we needed or wanted as well as full drinks always in between taking care of her other tables. We ate there and tried to use the restaurant.com coupon that we had printed to specifically to eat here. This covers a small percentage of your bill. They told us they would not take it and that it was a scam. We paid the full bill and left. I contacted restaurant.com and was told that a sales rep visits the restaurant and signs up the locations to be featured on their website for advertisement. They have to sign a one year contract to be on their site. Parthenon said they did not sign any agreement and someone but them on their website without the restaurants knowledge. (Who would do that to someone one, give them free advertising without them knowing about it). I was unhappy that they would not honor a coupon for a service that they signed up for. The food was okay at best and was nothing to brag about will not return since I feel that they are the ones scamming people. read more

I am a server myself and i am a little bit younger but i would never discriminate against any of my tables based on how they looked or how old they are! Food is not good, and the manager (the heavy set guy, dark complexion) is very rude, I have seen him yell at employees several times, and I've even noticed him sitting at a table near the window leaning back as if he was asleep.
