I've been going to Partners since I was a young child and I'm sad to say that quality and customer service has sharply gone downhill. It's been under new management in recent years and now, even placing a simple sandwich order results in an attitude from staff. As an example, online their website says "make your own sandwich" is an option, but when placing an order over the phone and requesting one simple modification to a sandwich on the menu, the staff said "not sure we can do that, we're busy." You wouldn't expect customer service to go out the window when it gets busy, but I guess it does here! read more

Thought I'd write this while waiting for my stomach to stop doing backflips in a not too good way. Based on that I think you can see where I'm heading. Stopped in while in the area. It was given a good recommendation. Ordering went well. And we went to the patio seating which was comfortable and peaceful. Ordered the cob salad. First look was the lettuce was all bruised. There were large pieces of the stocks mixed into the salad and the dressing was missing. Rather than take more time since the service is slow for a wrap and a salad I figured I'd mass the avocado and blue cheese a bit a carry on with lunch. I've served in the military with two tours in the Nam so I've seen things that didn't look appetizing that wouldn't kill you. Today that was a bad tactical decision. So not feeling well after eating there, food not appealing to the eye, price to value analysis - over priced and for either quality or hygiene I: not interested in food for the rest of the day. I'm sure they have a following. I'll pray for you if you are in that cohort of food fans. read more

This review is for Partners' Village store. I haven't eaten at the kitchen... Partners is a cute, yet pricey, place to shop in Westport, and there's really something for *almost* everyone here. It's one of the only stores of its kind in Westport, and it is the largest of them. Each summer I head here to check out the latest. They have cute traditional and nautical-themed home decor (table runners, placemats, coasters, art, miscellaneous tshotshkes) as well as cute doggy-themed items (my kryptonite). The nautical-themed items are beachy without being kitschy. The dog/kitty-themed items include needle point pillows, tea towels, stuffed animals, toys, collars and leashes, etc. Partners is one of the only places where I have found wheaten terrier items! In addition to home decor, Partners sells very high-end womens' beach cover ups (around $100), scarves ($20-30), blouses, and fancy bath/grooming items. Up near the front register you will find jewelry, including some sterling and semi-precious stones. Many are locally made and in line with the beach theme. Partners also has a wonderful kids section of toys and books, and the selection includes many books I grew up reading which are now difficult to find or no longer in print. Partners also carries a small selection of Westport-themed items (t-shirts, sweatshirts, key chains, mugs, etc.). This is probably the best place to find Westport souvenirs. Believe me, I have looked all over. Your next best option is at Country Woolens, but compared with CW Partners sells more fun and whimsical items versus CW's basic, outdoorsy inventory. Finally, as much fun as Partners is for kids and women, there's not much here that a man would enjoy shopping for, so if you bring your husband here he may become bored very quickly. However, I did see a couple of things that would make nice gifts for men, including shaving soaps and the t-shirts/sweatshirts & coasters I mentioned previously. My first impression upon setting eyes on this place was that it was warm and cozy, but the first staff encounter I had didn't match this feeling when I walked through the door. I was barely acknowledged when I walked in and when I looked directly at the cashier, she gave me a weak hello (and didn't acknowledge me period when I walked out). Not a super friendly vibe. WAY better service in the cafe portion - friendly greeting right away, nice, helpful and told me to help myself to any coffee or tea (self serve). The almond macaroons get full marks - although I'd say they're not really so much macaroons (German) as they are amarettis (Italian). I came here looking for French macarons but saw the cookie labeled almond macaroon (one of my fave flavors of all time), and it was fantastic. My expectations are generally low regarding gluten free products, but the cookie was delightful. The inside was chewy and the almond flavors really shined! Loved every bite. The half turkey cran sandwich tasted good, but not mindblowing. The marble rye was a tad dry but the proportioning of ingredients was excellent and the flavors were what you'd expect. Standard turkey cran sandwich (always good) - pretty much the same as the one you can get from Paradise Cafe in the food court of the Prudential Center in Boston. And any other cafe with standard cafe fare, which is exactly what this place offers. Glad they had an almond milk option for my iced decaf coffee! They also offer soy. I'm surprised at how steep the prices are - $8.50 for sandwiches and $9.50 for wraps - considering it's typical food you can find on any cafe menu for at least a $1-1.50 less. Prices like that should fetch more interesting fare! For $6-8 at cafes in Harvard Square (lookin at you Crema Cafe!) where they can easily overcharge (it's a super touristy area), you can get the same size sandwiches with way unique flavors and flare with some toned down options. I suppose it depends on the tastes of the town, though! The restroom was clean and cute. Store portions are super colorful and they seem to carry some fun items! Cute kitchenware and interesting looking specialty foods. Ample parking space. If you're into typical cafe food, this place is a good spot to check out. Amazingly slow service. Food is good but not worth the wait. Stopped by for lunch on a sunny Saturday. 6 people working in the kitchen but it took 25 minutes for them to prepare one salad and one wrap. Pleasant place but they need to figure out how to not have to apologize to everyone for slow service. Update: for some reason I keep getting yelp messages from this place which are a combination of excuse and apology. I get one about every three weeks and they are the same message--word for word. If they have hired a bot to send email they should put her to work in the kitchen to speed up service and forget about the constant apologies/excuses. read more

Abner and I decided to try Partners for lunch. Driving up, it's very cute and cozy. We got to the counter and Abner informed the young girl that we had a FUN107 Seize the Deal gift certificate to use. The young girl said "of course." Did she mean it was obvious or expected? Or was she emphasizing agreement? Abner said it was to emphasize agreement, to stop analyzing and order a sandwich!" Abner got the Santa Fe Wrap and I got the Turkey Cran sandwich. I liked Abner's sandwich much better. The Turkey Cran was just okay. I thought it was a bit expensive for sandwiches and wraps. Chips and drinks are extra. I liked browsing the bookstore and the gifts. Overall, we liked it, but I'll get a wrap next time. read more

I came in for a coffee and to use their restroom and looked around the store a little. The next day I returned for a piece of quiche. This little spot is a gem. Their book store is great and I loved their children's section. They offer a wide variety of local products and whimsical trinkets and everyone was very friendly. read more

Partners is a unique place...part book store, part village store with interesting tourist type items and part miniature eatery. There is yoga out on the lawn during the summer at 8:30. We had the egg, cheese and bacon sandwich which was tasty mostly because of the homemade English muffin it was on. The blueberry muffin was large and full of fruit but not overloaded with sugar. This is a cute little country store with a lot of different items packed into it, although its a small store, everything is neatly and attractively arranged in little rooms and sections.. you don't feel like you're being watched in here like some small stores. Customer service was excellent, the cashier was very friendly as well as 3 other employees that I interacted with, as well as some of the customers. Small but beautiful selection of jewelry, I loved the book section and wish I had discovered this store before I purchased an e-reader because I know I would have been here several times a week!! The café was super cute, It smelled so good that I wished I had gone in there hungry. They had some delicious looking brownies and cookies as well. The staff in the café was also very nice and friendly. Cute kitchen items in there as well as some jellies and jams which I thought were local, but later discovered they were from Vermont, but that's fine, I'll still enjoy it!! I LOVED the cat and dog items when you first walk into the store and I treated myself to one of the cat doorstops. I LOVE it. I shop a lot, but mostly browse and buy small items or things I need, but I fell in love with this cat because he reminded me of my cat (I just gave myself away to the staff!!) Do yourself a favor, if you're in Westport stop by here, they have some wonderful gift items, or stop in for breakfast or lunch. I'll definitely be back to try their lunch or at least have a snack and a cup of coffee. I truly loved this little store and can't wait to visit again.. and to visit in the summer so I can sit in one of those comfortable chairs on the porch with my cup of coffee. The food is good, store is very cute. Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful, however, the last two times I've gone in I've overheard one of the workers in the kitchen make comments trash talking the customers under her breath to other employees. She must think that because most of the clientele is elderly that they won't hear her. Pretty sure she's a manager too which makes it even worse. Petite girl with red hair. Great coffee - we had the cold brew and as advertised it had just the right amount of sweet and cream. My husband had the avocado toast with smoked salmon which was very good and I had an egg sandwich. But the best part of the breakfast was the warm blueberry muffin right out of the oven. My husband just had to have it so we split one. I had to refrain him from going back for a second one. We had breakfast outside on the porch. The store is very unique - I will be back to spend more time in the book section. In fact, we did return a couple days later to get a coffee and another one of their muffins (my husband was jazzing for one) but they don't open until 9:30am. He was majorly disappointed. They have a very nice gift shop with unique items and the kitchen makes great sandwiches. My favorite is the BLT. My only complaint is that when I go to get my pickup order they ask if I want to add a tip. There is no table service and I'm just picking it up to eat elsewhere and the sandwiches are about $9 each which is enough as is. The last time she asked me twice about adding a tip which made me uncomfortable but I gave her a firm NO. They should not do that as it makes you feel cheap for saying no and everyone in line hears it. read more

But I am re-reviewing due to the managers request that I come back on them to try their veggie sandwich again. I am glad I did, because the second time I had their food it was much, much better! My sis has been raving about this place so we had to try it. It's a sandwich shop/book shop/gift shop place. Kind of disappointing. We went in and were first to order sandwiches with about 4 couples behind us. We got our food last, minor thing, I guess. Overall, the food was mediocre and the employee attitude was the pits. I don't know if we looked too much like tourists or what but everyone seemed sort of rude. We both arrived at this conclusion after we wandered around the place separately. Kind of a 'yeah, yeah, just give us your money' attitude. I don't mean to be so negative, I've been looking forward to writing a glowing, witty review of someplace. Great place! A local hotspot for lunch and gift shopping, they serve gourmet sandwhiches, dreamy baked goods and awesome soups. I am an addict for their homemade granola. Before sitting down you can peruse their bookstore, gift sections, kids area, or even shop for adorable home decor. I was surprised at how stylish their products are and the customer service makes you feel welcomed. I love the feel of an upscale country store and this place really delivers. Most of the time my life is in New York City, but when I come home to Dartmouth, Partners is always one of my first stops. Terrific staff, wonderful events, you always run into people you know -- and ahhh, the food! Not a better sandwich around, and the soups are twice as good. I am so used to standing in line at a deli and being as much of an automaton as the server behind the counter. I have been to Partners on numerous occasions and after my experience tonight I will not be going back. Basically it came down to just plain rudeness! I asked a simple question to the people working behind the desk...who looked bothered by the purchase I was making..and they gave me a rude, snappy answer and told me go somewhere else in Westport. I have experienced the same attitude before with people who are working there...the "we are better than you" attitude. For a local business, you would think you would get good customer service. The shop itself is cute, but that is about it. It is very overpriced! The cafe is also cute and does make a good sandwich, but not for $10. (Oh and a PBJ sandwich for a 2 year old costs $4.95...just the sandwich!) There are many more places on Main Road that make quality food, for a lot less price. read more
