Brunch review! I've been going to Black Salt since they opened. You come for the food but stay for the people. We came for brunch in on Sunday. I had my first ever bloody Maria and it was delicious. I had their brunch burger on a bolo and it was perfect. The side of truffle fries was exactly what it needed. They've updated things since they initially opened so if you haven't been in a while, you should definitely check it out. Stopped by for some lunch on our way to visit Rhode Island, and I'm really glad we did! The spot stands out in the older town of Swansea. The decor has a modern feel still with some charming touches. Our server was very welcoming and friendly. I couldn't decide between the mushtoom pasta and the steak frites, so he recommended that I add steak to the pasta to make it more filling. I took the recommendation and it was soooo good, the steak and mushrooms made the pasta so savory and hearty without feeling too heavy. My sister had the half-chicken and it was taking a short while, but I appreciated our server coming by with updates on the meal to assure us that it was being prepared properly. I'm not sure if I'll be back in the area anytime soon, but if I am, I'll be sure to drop by again! read more

Stopped here on a whim, so glad we did. It all was wonderful! The pretzel sticks were deliciously buttered and the cheese/pulled pork dip was scrumptious. Can't recall which margarita I got but it had a peppercorn rim, fruity, tangy, and really good! My cousin got the smashburger which was my favorite thing out of all of this deliciousness. I got the Cuban panini. It was huge! Really excellent. We split and shared sandwiches. I'm not often in this area but I'd make the 40 minute trip from home to eat here again. read more

We drive by here a lot but never been in. My wife and I decide to give it a try on Tuesday night. It was actually surprisingly busy. The staff and the host were on queue and sat us down right away. I glanced at the bar, and it was packed. I would say it is a good night for the restaurant. We started out with Asian inspired calamari appetizer. The golden fried calamari rings came with bok choy and roasted peanuts as toppers, with sweet and tangy sauce. Thai or southeastern Asia inspired variety. A little different in the area dominated by either Italian or Portuguese style calamari. My main dish was Shrimp Mozanbique with good portion of shrimp. My wife ordered a mushroom marsala dish. Both were on point and respected the ingredients. Not too saucy or dry. A good balance. Our wait staff Chase was excellent. It is nice to see that we have young but enthusiastic server who is nice and attentive. We do not see excellent server like him anymore anywhere. We met the chef on Sunday while out at a different restaurant, he was so personable. After some conversation and learning he is the chef of Black Salt, we decided to give it a try. We went the following day on a Monday and tried his famous meatloaf, which did not disappoint. The side of carrots were absolutely unbelievable, and the entire meal was incredible. We also tried the focaccia bread and the deviled eggs, which were a favorite as well. The service was great. Everyone was friendly. The entire inside was a comfortable and chic look. I would absolutely go back for a date night. I can't believe this was my first time having Black Salt. We will absolutely be back! Chef Chris is just simply awesome. Amazing food. Great place. We were going to an event nearby, and decided to stop by for an early dinner. I actually saw a clip from the Phantom Gourmet about this place that seemed fantastic, so we decided to give it a try. This place is pretty new, everything including the bathrooms are newly decorated and perfect. The drink menu, including beer, wine, mixed drinks, bourbon was fantastic, however we were on our way to a wine tasting, so we did not imbibe. We had an app (Short Rib Bao Buns) and shared a salmon dinner, and both were delicious. The staff was friendly, efficient and there when you needed.....perfect. We started with the lamb appetizer...A+!! Cooked to perfection and the sauce was off to the side so we could what we wanted. It was seriously so good I ate the remaining sauce by itself when our lamb was gone! For entrees I ordered a steak & crab special (again medium rare cooked perfectly!) and my friend got the salmon with a pineapple rice. We shared plates and we each said each other's dish was amazing! I was going to take half of mine home but it was so good I ate the whole plate! The fig cocktail I had was delicious and the crem brûlée was as a perfect ending. Ok, so, the service was incredible. Our waiter was attentive and great. The food was flavorful, but not cooked as expected. My wife has steak tips cooked medium. About half of them were medium, but the rest were extremely rare. I had the salmon which I was told would be cooked medium. It was very overcooked and blackened. Enjoyed a delicious lunch here. I have a gluten sensitivity and found this restaurant after searching for establishments with gluten free options. They have 5 or 6 meal choices I could have. We started with the chicken nachos for an appetizer. Very tasty and the chicken and cheeses were layered within the nachos, not just placed on the top. I couldn't try the calamari unfortunately as it's prepared with gluten. We both ordered the grilled pork which was nicely tender. They offered a number of specials. The server was excellent. First time trying out Black Salt and had been wanting to visit sooner, but wow, this place is a gem. The service was outstanding and very informative. He listed all the amazing "specials" that made our decision even harder. Now we have to return just to try all the other amazing dishes. He had the Black Salt Burger & fries and I went with Tuna Nachos to start and a grilled chicken Caesar salad. Both were very light, yet filling. We thought we recognize the server and come to find out he used to take care of us at Mesa 21 & worked for 15 years. Him and his sister broke off and now have this wonderful place on their hands. Two scrambled eggs, one piece of toast and home fries that were mostly burnt and too crispy for $16 is a bit much in my opinion. The eggs were discolored and stringy. No flavor. Swansea really needed another good dining option and I'm happy to say Black Salt is it. Whenever we drive by it has looked super busy so we decided to go for a late lunch. It's much bigger inside than I thought so won't be deterred by the full parking lot next time. Service was great. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server, who happened to be one of the owners, was more than happy to explain anything on the menu, make suggestions, tell us a little bit about the business and building and tell us about some of their upcoming plans. The cocktail list looked great but I went with a Cabernet, which I enjoyed. There is an extensive list of craft beer bottles and cans that my husband started to work his way through. On to the food. I had seen some of the reviews about high prices and small portions. Our portions were definitely not small and prices are in line with other area restaurants. We started with the mussels and deviled eggs and really enjoyed both. The broth on the mussels was garlicky and delicious. I had the Autumn Harvest Salad and enjoyed it. I liked the grilled taste of the chicken. My husband ordered the salmon. He said it was cooked perfectly and the rice that was served with it almost outshone the salmon.
