    Seafood Chowdah

Review for The Bayside Restaurant - Westport, MA Sand, suds, and that sweet, sweet lobstah! Anytime I find myself in Dartmouth, there's one non-negotiable: a pilgrimage to The Bayside. It's not just a restaurant--it's a seaside ritual. A full-on coastal vibe check. By day, this place hums with a tide of locals and sun-kissed visitors, all riding that same salty wavelength. The outside seating? Chef's kiss. Whether you're perched at the surfboard table (yes, really), chilling by the firepit, or posted up at the outdoor bar chillin' in the shade or soaking in the rays (depending on time of day), it always feels like a low-key beach party. Add in that Scooby-Doo-style van hawking t-shirts and tank tops and you've got yourself a beach fiesta postcard . Drink-wise, they're reppin' the South Coast with a rotating lineup of New England brews and a cocktail menu that says "kick off those flip flops and stay a while." The chowder? Clam or seafood--either one is a pregame MVP. Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with sea-kissed goodness. But the main event? That lobstah roll. Oh baby. Warm. Nekked. Buttered. No mayo nonsense (that's how I roll). Just pure, buttery shellfish glory piled high in a toasted split-top roll. Served with fries that actually hold their own--crispy, salty, and impossible to stop picking at even after you "swear you're full." Service stays solid despite the crowd--friendly, laid-back, and on point with the refills and check-ins. They know what they're doing, even when the patio's packed and the orders are flying. The Bayside is a beach town legend. Come for the lobstah roll, stay for the surfboard tables, the sun-soaked vibes, and the kind of carefree energy that makes you wish you lived on a boat. (Or one of them campers along the coast)

    Seafood awesomeness.

Beach Day in Westport, we ended up for Dinner at The Bayside Restaurant in Westport, we both started with Quahog Chowder, one of best ones I've had, then our Mains were: she got Coconut Shrimp and I got the Fish Tacos with Coleslaw, everything was excellent and great Service, love it there after a great day at The Beach with Friends

Found this place, strictly by chance, back in 2018. The lobster rolls and seafood chowder I've gotten over the years were GREAT. Was there this past week, with my wife. Lobster roll was good but smaller than the photographs I took in years prior. Wife did not enjoy her baked scrod. The seafood chowder and quahog chowder were on point, as usual. Lost a star because their restrooms were out of service and the only had portable toilets in the rear of the establishment. Service was good, server replaced my wife's cold french fries instantly. Props for using hand-cut fries - a lot of places don't. Unfortunately, due to my wife's experience (I won't get into it), we probably won't be back.

Love coming to Bayside! This was our second time here and it never disappoints! Claims are generous size and portion! Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere! We would go more often if we lived closer. It truly is a little gem of a place just minutes from the beach.

Nice quiet location in Westport with inside and outside seating. Perfect evening on summer solstice! I had the Maple Medley which consisted of sugar cane skewered shrimp and NB sea scallops pan seared with house made maple $sesame glaze over wild rice with asparagus. Absolutely delicious - the best scallops I've had in a very long time. They actually tasted like scallops! The shrimp were also very good. My dining part got the gazpacho which was very refreshing and the fresh crab roll. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic seafood, gorgeous view of the Allen's Pond refuge. Generous portions and friendly, prompt service.

Yes! Go to this restaurant! I had a fabulous Sunday summer dinner at The Bayside last night. My brain slowed down into what I felt was such a wonderful "don't worry be happy" type of atmosphere. We were sitting in a comfortable covered outdoor dining area and thankfully our waitress did not rush us even one bit. Although not planning on a cocktail, the Bayside Rum Punch was calling me and I'm so glad it did. Super delish! I was actually very hungry so I knew I'd appreciate any meal but ordered up and went for the Maple Medley - "Sugar Cane Skewered Shrimp and New Brunswick Sea Scallops - lightly chili dusted and pan seared with house maple- sesame glaze over wild rice and asparagus". It's now a new favorite and I hope I can get back there soon to have it again.

We popped in here at dinner time looking for a casual meal. Surprisingly to us, when we got there, they said they were almost out of food and they'd grab whatever they had if we were ok with it. We were totally fine with this! They brought out 3 chicken wings, some fries and a beer for Caleb, and lucky for us, they had a burger and chicken sandwich left, so we got to have a proper dinner! The food was delicious! The perfect backyard bbq food you could have. The inside is small, but has a nice bar and some tunes playing. Outdoors there is ample seating, along with an outdoor bar, yard games, and kids games. This is one of the most welcoming places we've been and the owner is a gem. He gave us a free cookie as well and offered some more beer if we wanted to hang out in the backyard. We will definitely be back! This is not too far from the Westport beaches, so a definite stop in if you are in the area. Thanks for your hospitality Backyard! Lentz_explore

The burger was one of the best I've had! Perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The hand-cut fries were crispy, and the house pickled vegetables were a great surprise. If you like a cold beverage with your burger, they have a great selection of local beers and wines. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and unpretentious. You don't feel rushed, and the staff makes you feel like a regular, even if it's your first visit. It's the kind of place where you come for a burger and a beer, stay longer than you planned, and leave already thinking about your next visit. If you're looking for a genuine local spot with outstanding food and drinks, this is it. Sometimes the best meals aren't in the fanciest restaurants, they're in places that feel like home. This is one of those places!

I also loved that it had a giant ice cube with "SA" melted onto it. There are many different types of seating - bar, high top tables, benches, regular tables, and a cute and comfy corner booth with throw pillows, which is where we opted to sit. Service was excellent. I was expecting to have to order at the bar, but Stingy Alley has table service. My husband ordered the espresso martini and I went with the Dubai chocolate martini. Both were outstanding - I could easily have tried a few more of the dessert cocktails, but alas we had a 40 minute drive home so that will have to wait for another visit. Will definitely come back to Stingy Alley - thanks for a lovely end to our night!

The weather the day I went was ideal. The cold lobster roll is a decent offering. At $28, it's not super expensive, compared to spots closer to Boston. While it's not a huge roll, the lobster was decently tender and had modest flavor. It did not have too much mayo or filler. Not the most amazing lobster I've ever had but it's a good offering. The frozen lemonade, while it's about 8-10 oz, is nice deal at $2. The drink was smooth and not too sweet. Service was friendly enough and did not negate the good experience. The restaurant was clean and tidy, which can be the opposite at some of these clam/lobster shacks.

While we sat on the bench to get a table assigned to us we had a drink. For those who love frozen drinks this is your Mecca. There is a huge variety to choose from. I will caution you they are very pricing at $16 a glass. The better option is a flight of 4 small glasses for $21. The menu is extremely limited with a focus on oysters and lobster rolls. They do have a small bowl of chowder for $8. Again pricey for a cup but it was delicious. Now I am a lobster roll snob so I had to be critical. The serving of meat for a $28 roll that comes with chips was sufficient. My one critique that took away a full star is the mayo was very watery and made the hot dog roll very mushy. That is a huge turn off for me. If I go again I would ask for the lobster plain and get the mayo or butter on the side. The view is lovely and the staff very friendly so it is definitely worth the trip.
