Horrendous customer service. Firstly, they answered the phone with "Hello". I'm sorry....did I just call your personal cell phone? Then they proceeded to have me on hold forever after I asked to cancel an order only to come back on and say "thank you" and hang just up. So I called back to inquire about receiving a confirmation email for my refund and was simply hung up on again. If you don't want to work in customer service then please DON'T. Whoever hired these people needs to be fired as well. They are totally operating on a lower frequency over there. Terrible management. read more

Sadly I cant leave a 0 star review but last Sunday I went to get some balloons inflated with helium to the SOUTH location. The was a lady in front desk taking care of a client when we got there, the manager (guy) looked at us and he walked out when he was CLEARLY not busy to take care of us which is fine, maybe he had to do something else in the back. The start of everything was completely fine but everything else start getting bad when she was going to start inflating my balloons, another costumer walked out to take care of her balloons as well, she when to the register to check her out (which is a LONG process of asking email address, phone number, first and last name and address), them she came back to my balloons (9 to be exact) when one of her coworkers walk in to ask her for a phone, which she offer her one that was on a register, them she gave her one she had on her pocket, them she walked out to find another phone and last one more time she WALKED OUT to get ANOTHER PHONE that was on the other side of the register on front, that moment is when we asked her is she can PLEASE hurry up since we were in a little rush (which everyone on their live can be sometimes), that right moment that lady got soooo mad stating "if you have to wait, you have to wait" which is NOT a right way to say stuff (not saying we were right, we just asked to please take care of us because just for 9 balloons we waited EASILY 10min or more). When she start yelling to my wife is when I got in a heated discussion with front desk lady where she called bitch to my pregnant wife and saying she do not care if she is pregnant or not. That right moment I asked for a manager and she did not wanted to called and she said "if you were waiting now you going to wait a lot more because I going to take care of this 2 costumers first them you" One of the costumers tell her "my love DO NOT lose your job and go get your manager" where she was sooooo mad yelling to us that it took her 10minutes to go get her manager. FINALLY her manager came to the front to take care of us when he did not DESCALATE the situation with her employee, she let her keep yelling, giving us faces and saying stuff even with 2 more costumers in front. I will be filling a complain with corporate due to so disrespectful attitude and comments to my pregnant wife. read more

The new Party City is so nice! I was confused when u first arrived to the location old location. I wasn't aware they were planning to move, it luckily as I was planning to leave I saw the new location. They are now occupying the old Hancock Fabrics space which is two stores down from the original location. There's so much room in the new location and lots more party favorites! I shared with the cashier that during their busiest time of the year "Halloween" they will truly see the fruits of their labor and change. This is by far, the worst location. Customer service is subpar and they are extremely inattentive to the needs of their customers waiting in line. There's one or two supervisors I can catch who are considerate and quick to get the line down but there are others who will make you wait 5 minutes, will finish whatever they are working on that could probably be finished at a later time & then call you up. She's got it perfectly summarized - this place is full of the kinds of totally useless stuff that you absolutely love to have for any party. Gift wrap, balloons, candy, cards and all sorts of perfectly pretty and colorful crap that you really don't need except when you're having a party. In the back is a very large costume section with all the accessories you need if you want to buy an outfit. That said, you might be able to save a bunch of money by renting the stuff instead from a proper costume store. Price are hit or miss. I did spot some 99 cent rolls of wrapping paper as well as some six dollar rolls right next to them. Honestly, it was tough for me to tell the difference. read more

This is my go-to Party City when I'm in the need of some TUS for an event...and sometimes when I actually need useful things, too. Plastic tablecloths in every color of the rainbow, masks, bulk plasticware, Hawaiian leis, costumes, beachy accessories, holiday accessories, balloons, candy, the list goes on and on. Went here the other day to get some last minute items for a murder mystery party which I procrastinated putting my costume together. I ended up finding what I needed, but there is a large selection of costumes here. I just wished that the prices really reflected what the costumes are worth. A lot of the materials are pretty flimsy... yes, you only need them for one night, but man it can get expensive depending on what you are going for. Other than the costumes, there is a wide selection of party items... from different themes to just color plates, etc. I think they even have wedding stuff, but you won't find me in that section any time soon. ;) read more

Disaster of a store. The ladies working the counter were extremely slow and couldn't care less about how long the lines were for checkout. They have side conversations with each other the entire time they were working. With the extreme markup on the made-in-China merchandise they should be able to afford more help especially during holiday seasons. There were 4 ladies working, two were doing balloons, one was working checkout and another alternated between checkout and going outside for breaks. What an utter disaster. The shelves were a wreck, boxes of things were opened and people were trying to buy things out of stock boxes but they come as a set so the ladies at the register kept lecturing the customers that they can't pull things out of boxes. It wasn't the customers' fault that the store is poorly run with broken stock boxes down every aisle. They have great potential to do well, but management is clearly not trained well or motivated to stay involved in the daily operations. Good luck if you choose to shop here. read more

Convenient but over priced for basically disposable party supplies. Also, you may not know this but you CANNOT return holiday themed items after the holiday. I.e.: the whole logic, let me get extra bc I don't know exactly what I need is not going to work. The snotty lady working at this location tonight informed me of that super fun fact. Also, nothing you buy whether you have a receipt, bought it earlier that day or otherwise will allow you to get your money back. My go to store for all things entertaining! I was recently let down at the lack of Octoberfest items but that doesn't stop me. There are ballons galore and costumes for days. No matter what type of party you are throwing you can really go all out with the theme with the help of Party City. The stores stay clean and the staff is normally pretty upbeat and happy to help. I was picking up a few things for my dad's birthday party and stopped in for some last minute things....This location is not very big but it was very very busy! There was a long line for balloons and at the checkout line. Halloween merchandise overwhelmed the store which I guess at this time if year is expected but I just really wanted a larger selection for birthdays and a section for cards there were none to chose from in the store! The website literally does not work...I have to come into the store (during the pandemic) just to get balloons bc the website is literally trash. This Party City is one of the smallest in the Charlotte area. The bigger party city store is by north lake mall and in Mathews. This location will have your party needs BUT not a wide variety. Terrible customer service! I placed an online order for in store pick up on September 19th for my daughter's slumber party which was on September 29th and the order wasn't available until October 31st, Really!? I called customer service to complain and was advised I would need to call the store directly. I called the store and explained that I no longer needed the items because the birthday party was over a month ago and I wanted to cancel my order and get a refund. I was told by the associate over the phone that I needed to come to the store, mind you the email stated that if my order was picked up within 72 hours, my order would be cancel and my card would be credited. That never happened! I went to the store on November 24th to request a refund and was told by the manager, that he was able to locate my order because the system was down and as soon as the system was back up. Bought my sons costume from here last Saturday. Of course, many other people waited to the last minute also so store was busy, but it appropriately staffed and organized. We were able to find what we needed without issue. Glad to see more competitive prices on costumes and other party gear. My sons costume was only 9.99 which was perfect for 2 years old. I placed my order two weeks in advance to my party and after a week it still hadn't shipped out. So I called and customer service said my order was put on hold but I never recognize anything notifying me about this. She assured me that the package would ship out the following Monday. No money was taken out of my account still so I called back and they said there was an issue with my card and the name matching that of the shipping address. She tried to fix it but said I would have to cancel it and reorder. So I did this and had to use another card and name to place the order. If still was not working so I had to cancel once more. Finally this order processed correctly 4 days before my party. So I paid $25 shipping to get it here in 2 days! The package did not arrive on time and arrived the morning of the party. So I was rushing to decorate and inflate balloons. While inside my local party city days ago I was told I could bring my receipt and they would inflate my balloons for me for free. After receiving my order I called my local party city to let them know I would be bringing in a large amount of balloons for inflation. On the phone they said that all the latex balloons would cost a dollar and some change. We said that was fine as we were honestly over party city at this moment. So we sent my brother to drop them off and pay. When he was there he called and said they were charging him $100 more dollars than discussed on the phone. So we told him to leave. At this point we tried to blow some balloons up with air but decided we wanted to try and inflate some ourself so we ran to Walmart and got a balloon tank. About 3 of the speciality balloons we order had holes in them and other balloons with confetti had so much confetti it wouldn't float even with helium. Some balloons would pop minutes after being inflated. At this point we realized I paid all this money for nothing and I wasn't going to worry with this until the following Monday 4/5. So on Monday I called about getting a refund as this whole ordeal ruined the weeks leading up to my 18th birthday and the actual day! Once on the phone I explained my whole story and asked for a manager. The manager said she could only refund me the $25 shipping a ninth of the total order price. She said the only way I could get a refund was to return what I wanted refunded. Now I understand this but this was not the circumstance for this. Half the balloons have popped and are in the trash. Then to return what I could gather I would have to get my receipt printed which I don't have a printer then either ship it back to party city or take it to my local party city. So I agreed just to get the $25 back because I am done dealing with party city's bullshit! I won't be putting any more effort into this company after they ruined my party which was in place for everything I missed in high school due to COVID! Fuck party city! Me nor my family will ever shop with party city either in store or online! I had high hopes for good service with party city and was sorely let down! Next time I will find what I need on Amazon!! This location was horrible. We went in last night hoping to get some Panthers supplies for our sons birthday. When we asked the girl up front a couple of questions all we got were I don't know you can go check the stuff is in the back, no offer to help. Then the next employee we ran into acted like we were a bother. Got up front to check out and the original girl seemed irritated to actually have to do her job. Informed her we had a return she says you need a manager for that but made no move to call one. Ok well can you get one? To which I got an attitude and had they not already been blowing up my balloons I would have simply walked out then but instead I paid and still hadn't gotten the return which should have been credited to my purchase. When I finally did get a manager he seemed confused and it took over 10 minutes to finally walk out with a gift card for 4.28. Their selection is awful and they provided horrible customer service.
